A long time ago I was reading this manga, it wasn't very popular, you've probably never heard of it, it was called Death Note.

When I was reading Death Note I was very drawn to the rivalry between the two male leads, Kira and L. Eventually, one of them dies about halfway through the story... but I stopped reading it at that point because I didn't care, I was only interested in what happened between Kira and L and that was over.

Similarly, I was watching Game of Thrones, and at some point I realized I was only watching because I wanted to see a specific character die. Then the character died (Joffrey, for the record). I stopped watching the show at that point because the reason for me watching it was gone.

One time I wish I had dropped a series partway through was with Yamada and the Seven Witches... about halfway through the series it basically just repeats the entire plot over again with some minor tweaks and I really wish I had stopped halfway through.
