YouTube: The Wild, Wacky Wonderland of the Internet
If the internet were a high school, YouTube would be that one kid who somehow knows everything, from how to fix a car to the exact mating habits of penguins, while simultaneously falling off a skateboard in the most spectacular fashion possible. YouTube is where you go to learn how to cook a perfect steak, only to end up watching a 3-hour documentary on the history of spoons. It’s a rabbit hole…

Tw// grooming mention
I love it when youtube recommends me a video of someone making a callout of a youtuber I didn't even know existed for sexually harassing them and grooming 14 yo. Very nice way to trigger my pocd!
#sarcasm if you couldn't tell#also this is absolutely NOT aimed at the person who made the video#AT ALL#They were 100% in the right for calling out their abusers shitty behavior#and I hope this issue reaches as much people as possible to keep everyone safe from that grooming dipshit#what I'm critiscising here is youtube#I didn't knew about that youtuber#Yet youtube still recommended me something related to them#I remember going through a huge depreasion once because youtube kept recommending conspiracy videos#the truth is youtube is just like every social media platforms#it's an algorithm that makes peope engage no matter how dangerous the things it recommend maybe (like those dangerous fake life hacks)#because engaing makes money#really begging that whole deal with google's monopole is gonna fix this shit

Mercs if they had modern day cellphones!
Heavy:
The screen is too small and his fingers are too big.
The screen also tends to hurt his eyes after a while but he absolutely refuses to turn down the brightness, saying it would make it even harder to see than before
His main favorite functions are video calls with Medic or his family and listening to music.
His life is complete when he discovers E-books
He can’t read them on the screen but he loves being able to clean Sasha while having his favorite book read to him
Medic:
Really doesn’t use it for much else than phone calls and the occasional google search at first
When he discovers mobile games that takes his interest though!
He becomes a candy crush mom.
Oh you have a broken arm? Wellll…You can tough it out, champ. He’s on level 7,229 right now.
He would make all the other men get Life360
Scout:
Total social media zombie(I say as if I am not one)
Surprisingly he’s very popular on apps like Twitter and Tik Tok. People think he’s hilarious!
Unfortunately somewhere along the way he says something less than respectful about something and his account gets banned
Eventually he’s on account number 6 and trying to regrow his following
It never recovers
He finds out about NFT’s
Sniper:
Mainly uses it to watch youtube and play music
His phone is always on silent and Do Not Disturb
He loves those videos where those guys go out into the middle of the woods and just start building a fucking house out of clay and sticks.
He prefers texting to calling, finding it much faster(he just like me fr)
Baffled by just how much porn he has access to now….
But he’s not complaining.
Soldier:
He doesn’t use it because he just keeps breaking his phones.
They’ve been dropped, blown up, set ablaze, dropped in water, eaten by a bread-tumor monster, eaten by Soldier(???) and run over.
Even if they didn’t get destroyed within 3 days he still wouldn’t use it for much else besides setting alarms and sending confusing group texts.
However, with each new phone he has gotten he asks Pyro for stickers and sticker bombs his phone just for fun
Has an American flag wallpaper
Pyro:
Watches a lot of Youtube!
They love art tutorials, cooking tutorials and those videos with the guys that put molten hot metal balls into water and those videos of people crushing things in Hydraulic presses
Their search history is so fucking strange:
“my little pony free episode”
“my little pony movie free”
“how to draw clouds”
“gasoline cheap prices”
They follow Scout’s pages and always send him nice comments and like his videos
Engineer:
Loves listening to music and watching movies on his phone
Eventually learns how to code and make his own apps
This is also how he discovered he could jailbreak his phone and turn it into a universal remote for his sentries
Very slow texter
Uses way more emoji’s than needed
“Hello yall 👋🏻 going to the hardware store today 🔨let me know if yall need anything while im out👋🏻🚶🏼”
His most used app is the settings app
Spy:
Of course all of his phones are burners.
He never uses one for more than one week
Loves pirating movies on it and watching them in bed
He has no contacts. No personal information and keeps his location off at all times
Likes to pretend to be different people and play around with Google and Youtube’s targeted ads and algorithms
One day he’s an 86 year old woman that’s recommended nothing but metal bands and funeral home ads
The next week he’s four years old and getting recommended Mario and Minecraft let’s play videos
He uses twitter
He’s doxxed many people on Twitter
Like Scout he has MANY banned accounts and has also hacked and stolen many accounts
…He hacked one of Scout’s accounts and got it permanently banned
Demoman:
Loves watching Top 10 videos
Also loves having so much ease and access talking to his lads
He video calls his mother often even she just nags him the whole time and keeps accidentally hanging up
Is frequently texting the other team’s Soldier and laughing at what he says back
Uses Discord and Reddit and is in many servers and communities that focus on paranormal activity, urban legends and cryptids
Actually makes his own youtube videos searching for said cryptids
Frequently comments “cringe” under Scout’s posts

What advice would you give to someone considering making video essays?
Don't be weighed down by the expectations of others. It seems these days there are now too many people assuming that if you want to make something labeled a "video essay," you have to match a certain style or tone. In many ways, it's overbearing - if you make something that has too many skits, too many jokes, that doesn't have a strong thesis outside of "this thing is bad", people say you're "failing to find a point." But if you put weeks of work into the filmmaking process and you want to call it a documentary, it feels limiting to have people insist that it's just a rant video instead of something more.
In truth, I recommend just trying to make *videos* first and trying to find your voice. No one starts off on YouTube being totally original, but as you learn the craft you will find your own brand and style. I think it is important for smaller creators to experiment, in spite of keyboard warriors being obsessed with the idea of everything under the sun needing to be new.
Starting off, your biggest struggle will be finding contentment in the experience of making videos - finding your closure. If you don't have an audience watching your stuff right away, spending weeks working on a video with 0 views can feel pointless and frustrating. Without finding a resolution for each project, you'll start to wonder why you're doing it.
So instead, find a friend in your personal life who will watch the videos with you. Make content for you and the people you know, and find contentment in that experience. And when you start to grow and gain real followers, pivot your style to match that new status quo.
Creating content for YouTube is a process of throwing things at a wall until something sticks. The big secret is the moment something sticks, you drop everything you're working on and do *that thing* five more times. This helps build trust in the algorithm and helps build your brand to new viewers finding your content. But don't write yourself into a corner - allow yourself to experiment and evolve even as you're finding success. If I didn't do that, I'd still be making drama videos about LeafyisHere. I'd be burnt out, miserable, and bitter. But because I allowed my style to evolve with my own tastes, I now am at the highest point in my career (to the loud annoyance of many people online).
But the biggest advice I can give is that if you think being a YouTuber will solve any issues in your private life, it won't. That's the biggest mistake I made starting out, I thought having this parasocial connection with other creators would fix my loneliness and anxiety. It didn't, in fact, it made things worse; and I am the only person to blame for that. I quickly learned that the most important people in my life still were (and still are) my real-life friends - people I go to bars with IRL and people I chat with on Discord - and not other creators. Sure, having this mindset has made me more isolated in many ways, but honestly I think that's the way it has to be for someone like me.
Final piece of advice - create your YouTube channel with a secret email you never post about online. It makes it much harder to dox and hack you. Peace out!

💫 Join the Fediverse! 💫
Greetings, fellow bloggers! We welcome you to join us in discovering, honoring, and promoting the potential future of social networking—commonly referred to as the "Fediverse."
The Fediverse, or Federation Universe, refers to a collective of online platforms that utilize the web protocol known as ActivityPub, which has set a standard of excellence in regards to both protecting and respecting users' online privacies.
There's a good chance in the past few years that you've caught wind of the fedi family's critically acclaimed Mastodon; however, there are many other unique platforms worth your consideration...
✨ Where To Begin?
Conveniently enough, from the minds of brilliant independent developers, there already likely exists a Fediverse equivalent to your favorite socials. Whether it's an opinion from the critics, or from the community alike—the following popular websites are commonly associated with one another:
Friendica 🐰 = Facebook Mastodon 🐘 = Twitter Pixelfed 🐼 = Instagram PeerTube 🐙 = YouTube Lemmy 🐭 = Reddit
It's worth mentioning, too, a few other sites and forks thereof that are worthy counterparts, which be: Pleroma 🦊 & Misskey 🐱, microblogs also similar to Twitter/Mastodon. Funkwhale 🐋 is a self-hosting audio streamer, which pays homage to the once-popular GrooveShark. For power users, Hubzilla 🐨 makes a great choice (alongside Friendica) when choosing macroblogging alternatives.
✨ To Be Clear...
To address the technicalities: aside from the "definitive" Fediverse clients, we will also be incorporating any platforms that utilize ActivityPub-adjacent protocols as well. These include, but are not limited to: diaspora*; AT Protocol (Bluesky 🦋); Nostr; OStatus; Matrix; Zot; etc. We will NOT be incorporating any decentralized sites that are either questionably or proven to be unethical. (AKA: Gab has been exiled.)
✨ Why Your Privacy Matters
You may ask yourself, as we once did, "Why does protecting my online privacy truly matter?" While it may seem innocent enough on the surface, would it change your mind that it's been officially shared by former corporate media employees that data is more valuable than money to these companies? Outside of the ethical concerns surrounding these concepts, there are many other reasons why protecting your data is critical, be it: security breaches which jeopardize your financial info and risk identity theft; continuing to feed algorithms which use psychological manipulation in attempts to sell you products; the risk of spyware hacking your webcams and microphones when you least expect it; amongst countless other possibilities that can and do happen to individuals on a constant basis. We wish it could all just be written off as a conspiracy... but, with a little research, you'll swiftly realize the validity of these claims are not to be ignored any longer. The solution? Taking the decentralized route.
✨ Our Mission For This Blog
Our mission for establishing this blog includes 3 core elements:
To serve as a hub which anybody can access in order to assist themselves in either: becoming a part of the Fediverse, gaining the resources/knowledge to convince others to do the very same, and providing updates on anything Fedi-related.
We are determined to do anything within our power to prevent what the future of the Internet could become if active social users continue tossing away their data, all while technologies are advancing at faster rates with each passing year. Basically we'd prefer not to live in a cyber-Dystopia at all costs.
Tumblr (Automattic) has expressed interest in switching their servers over to ActivityPub after Musk's acquisition of then-Twitter, and are officially in the transitional process of making this happen for all of us. We're hoping our collective efforts may at some point be recognized by @staff, which in turn will encourage their efforts and stand by their decision.
With that being stated, we hope you decide to follow us here, and decide to make the shift—as it is merely the beginning. We encourage you to send us any questions you may have, any personal suggestions, or corrections on any misinformation you may come across.
From the Tender Hearts of, ✨💞 @disease & @faggotfungus 💞✨

Thought for a moment in the 2010s that we were entering a new serious era (e.g. 1920s, 30s, 40s), but it seems that we're instead in an increasingly tacky era (50s, 60s, 70s). Like look at the change in YouTube. Well you all are textheads you don't do video, I know that. But like. In 2017 there was ContraPoints. Agree or disagree with her opinions, what she was doing was conceptually and aesthetically serious. Even her early, low-production-value stuff. She was talking about incels and other internet shit, but the internet is part of the real world, that's fine. In fact that's what gave me hope for another serious era, people were finally talking about internet stuff the way 1920s German intellectuals or whatever talked about the cultural trends of their day. Maybe because Contra has half a philosophy PhD and was explicitly influenced by those German intellectuals.
Another example from a totally disjoint cultural niche was Digi a.k.a. Trixie a.k.a. Ygg Studios or whatever they go by now. Drunk, smelly, and unkempt—yes. Or at least so went the persona. Talking seriously about anime—also yes. When they claimed they were the only good anime reviewer on the internet it made a lot of people mad. But they were right!
There were thinkers, we had thinkers. My generation, or roughly my generation, had thinkers. To be clear, when I include Contra here I'm not including all of her ilk, I'm not including the leftist-theory-regurgitators and so on. But Contra herself was a thinker! Digi was a thinker! We had thinkers.
But that era is over now, on YouTube at least. I go on there and it's all algorithmic drivel. I look for anime content and as I've explained it's all about #hype and #epic and how the new season of whatever #hits different and other empty meaningless bullshit. No analysis, no thought, fundementally unserious bullshit. Tacky! It's tacky! The the YouTube thumbnail O-face is fucking 70s-ass fake wood paneling tacky bullshit!
MrBeast. I've never seen a MrBeast video but I hate him for what he represents. I used to watch this channel called Wranglerstar, he made videos about different types of axes and forest fire fighting equipment and various other stuff. "Modern homesteading" I believe was the tagline. And it was always evident that he was a far-right guy but who gives a shit, his videos where good. Serious videos about interesting topics, that a fucking normal guy might watch. Well around 2020 he basically started flooding his channel with covid conspiracy bullshit and "the Chinese are going to attack us any day!" bullshit and other unserious crap. And I had to stop watching. How could I find any of that compelling? It's vapid nonsense.
And I don't know if it's a shift in the algorithm or people becoming more savvy to the algorithm or what, but all of YouTube is like this now. Vapid clickbait empty meaningless bullshit for another tacky commercialized bullshit era.
And you know, I felt like it might just be localized to YouTube for a while, but I started to look around, and it just feels like everything is like this. Backsliding to the tacky times. God I hate tackiness. I hate unseriousness. I'm having a little meltdown. At least SMW kaizo hacks are having a renaissance. People are doing serious shit in that space, serious shit that is also not anachronistic, you know, it's kept up with the modern world. It addresses modern concerns (fun to play hard Mario). But it's serious. People are serious. One of the few serious things happening in my orbit.
Even in science it feels like people aren't serious anymore. You know, standard Sabine Hossenfelder complaint about particle physics. But I don't really know enough about that to say. Get the vibe that biology is still serious these days.
To be clear, everything I'm saying here is pure vibes. I'm just saying shit. I'm just saying shit that I feel. But I'll be deeply disappointed if I have to live my youth in another tacky era, god damn it. Even the 80s seem like they were better than this.

"We are, the employees of Allah, after all."
What is the parameter of success in our work? Of your writings, your artworks, your social media posts?
As someone who's into art and writing, I was in my quest to answer that question. In medical school, I am so accustomed to diagnostic criteria with which we are able to diagnose diseases for our (future) patients. When these boxes are tick, they summed a certain score sometimes indicating severity.
Yes, a quantifiable parameter would be an easier answer to the question. But is it the same for this case?
Until one day, Allah led me to an instagram post by Farah Qoonita, whose words haunted me until now.
Is it determined by the number of copies your books sold?
Or the amount of views and likes in your posts?
Or the cheers and chants of your name that you received?
Or the rows of awards on your shelf?
These lines sting.
No. Alas, they are not the indicator of success.
I then see myself on the stage during talkshows. I remember the compliments I received, admiration look I saw. Shaytaan it is. Playing tricks on my heart, to deviate my intentions. That for a brief moment, I was indeed: feeling proud of myself. Astaghfirullah.
This similar case occurs for social media posts. Likes, comments, saves, shares, reaches, new followers and so on! (Do you know, how much youtube videos discuss hacks to gain more of these by breaking Instagram algorithms? Are these what our generation is only after?)
It is when.. the praises are addressed, not to you, but rather to The One whose all praises belong to.
It is when.. admirers admire, not you, but The Creator of sky, earth and all in between.
It is when.. enthusiasts wish to be in vicinity, not with you, but with The Almighty.
As the story of Prophet Sulaiman (PBUH) and the Queen. By the Prophet Sulaiman's crafted castle, impressed she became. No, not to his figure. The Queen prostrated and believed. To Him.
This is, the highest rank of work.
Today, Ustadzah Faiza disclosed her story of her journey in understanding this concept. The wisdom she attained was,
"Create, share and tell. However remember! We are nothing but employees of Allah. We work not to introduce ourselves, but introduce Him.
Shift the center of focus, to The Almighty. Let ourselves play the only role to be intermediary of His messages.
This is the pledge, from the very beginning.
And wait for His Wonders of Guidance."
Today.
We are filled with digressed intentions.
We seek only popularities within earth.
Had we not dream of being acknowledged throughout the Skies?
Astaghfirullah.
-h.a.

Essay worth 40% of my grade due in five days, fourteen tabs open on my browser with articles and book chapters about misinformation, disinformation, and library policy-making, notes jotted down about how 4chan /pol/ culture directly influenced the Christchurch shooter, I take a break from the 24,000-word chapter defining why misinformation is problematic to read a blustering Brabazon article about disintermediation in librarianship, the fifth hour of YouTube lo-fi remixes burbling on my headphones.
A genius idea strikes me. I should track down all the X-Men movies I liked and watch them back to back. Man, I really enjoyed Deadpool and Wolverine. Aimed squarely at the nostalgia button and hit the bullseye. X-Men came out when I was 12 and made me fall in love with cinema. There were shit ones but there were enough good ones to make a real marathon, like 10, 12 hours. I should do it this weekend. This is a good idea and in no way fuelled by my deadline or the volume of literature I have to get through in order to competently tackle the topic of what influence local information policies can have on the steaming jungle of algorithm-driven bullshit all seekers of knowledge must hack their way through on their quest for so much as a pasta recipe. In 2000 words. By Wednesday.

What is SEO? A Complete Guide to Search Engine Optimization in 2025
In the ever-evolving digital landscape, SEO (Search Engine Optimization) remains the cornerstone of online visibility. But let’s not sugarcoat it — SEO is not a one-time trick or a hack to fool Google. It's a long-term game rooted in strategy, quality, and relevance.
🔍 What is SEO?
SEO refers to the process of optimizing your website so that it ranks higher in search engine results pages (SERPs), particularly on Google. When done right, it helps drive organic (non-paid) traffic to your site.
There are three main pillars of SEO:
On-Page SEO: Content optimization, keyword usage, meta tags, internal linking, and site structure.
Off-Page SEO: Backlinks, social signals, and brand mentions.
Technical SEO: Website speed, mobile-friendliness, crawlability, and indexing.
📈 Why SEO Matters in 2025
Let’s face it — everyone Googles everything. Whether you’re running a business, a blog, or a YouTube channel, your audience is searching online. If you’re not showing up on page one, you’re invisible.
With the rise of AI and voice search, SEO has evolved. It's not just about stuffing keywords anymore. It's about user intent, quality content, and technical performance.
🛠️ Core SEO Strategies for 2025
Understand Search Intent: Know what your audience is looking for, not just the words they type.
Write Helpful, Human-Centered Content: Google’s Helpful Content update rewards useful and original content.
Optimize for Mobile and Speed: A slow or unresponsive site is a ranking killer.
Use Schema Markup: Helps Google better understand your content and improve your SERP appearance.
Build High-Quality Backlinks: Focus on relevant, authoritative sites — not spammy directories.
⚠️ SEO Mistakes to Avoid
Keyword stuffing
Buying backlinks
Ignoring technical SEO
Duplicate content
Not tracking performance
📊 Tools to Help Your SEO Game
Google Search Console
Ahrefs / SEMrush
Yoast SEO (for WordPress)
Screaming Frog
Ubersuggest
🧠 Final Thoughts
SEO isn’t a magic spell. It’s a discipline, and like anything worth doing, it takes time, consistency, and a commitment to staying updated. Trends change, algorithms shift, but one thing remains true: if you build for humans first, search engines will follow.

🌵 🦷 🏜️ :)
🌵 - share the link to a playlist you love
i actually don't listen to a ton of music, so as a result, i don't bother paying for spotify or etc, and when i want to put music on then i go to youtube (with adblock) and put on one of the recommended mixes. unfortunately, these recommended mixes can't be easily shared with others... i've provided some links, but please note that outside of the first song, the rest of the playlist will likely be influenced by your own algorithm.
playlist for focus work playlist for chilling
🦷 - share some personal wisdom or a life hack you swear on
it baffles me how many times i see a set of "recipes for when you don't want to cook!" and there's a step that involves using the stove/oven. for me, the "i don't want to cook" feeling is basically a hard barrier to getting out any sort of pots/pans that i would then have to hand wash later...
anyway this is a long windup to say that the toaster oven is my BFF. no preheat time, no need for any pot/pan when tinfoil does just fine, it's basically all the convenience of a microwave but with results that don't make me feel like i'm eating something Sad. where i'm at, you can get a decent toaster oven for under 50USD, so if you struggle with making meals for yourself and have the means to afford a toaster oven, i really do recommend it.
🏜️ - what's your favorite type of comment to receive on your work?
long ones 😌 sometimes i open my inbox and find someone has left paragraphs on paragraphs dissecting or analyzing the fic, or pointing out every single one of their favorite lines, or just going on a little rant about how it made them feel... i personally struggle with leaving comments longer than a sentence so receiving long comments makes me think about how much i would have needed to love a fic to write that much in the comments and them i feel very warm and fuzzy ehehe
AS ALWAYS THO i'll be happy to receive a comment of any length <33

#IM LOVE RECEIVING COMMENTS SM... im sorry im so so behind in replying to them 😭😭😭#ty for playing!#nyoomerr ask
