The references are nice. I love Nia's love for animals and her assignment to the park. Before, her job wasn't permanent. Also, Belle is here. I love her. I love them. I like it. :]

Until I watch all of Nia's episodes, I won't be commenting on how she supposedly repeats learning things from Kenya all the damn time.

However, I do have a problem with the argument being made. It feels like it dimisses that different cultures interact like this most of the time, bringing up the ways they handle certain situations. From my expierence, i hear where these differences come from all the time, even if I know the person well enough.

I just don't see the problem with Nia bringing up how things different are between her old home and Sodor. It feels relatable, despite the fact that I'm Hispanic (Mexican), and it makes sense.

James the Super Engine

I ADORE THIS EPISODE. I've talked about it before but in short, I love how James is portrayed. Could've EASILY written him as a hero who gave up and didn't bother checking up on Rebecca when she yelled for help. But no, they went the right way. James IS caring but considering the environment he's had to work in for so many years, you can see why he doesn't show it. But here, HE DOES.

And when he realizes that Rebecca is in trouble? Its his normal voice, whereas before, it was his superhero voice.

I've talked about it before. Its confusing, especially with its placement. Would've worked better as the episode following 'Confusion Without Delay".

Despite this, i like their dynamic.

Gordon's behavior is tiresome. I usually ignore it but i've seen enough of CGI TTTE that im getting sick and tired out of it. I've heard that his character growth was forgotten but i havent seen enough to have a say.

Mixed feelings on this one because Hiro's leaving. :( Stop writing off my favorite characters.

In my second, I noticed Hiro's "konnichiwa" and got thrown off completely. Odd how they're JUST now bringing out Hiro's first language. I don't remember seeing this brought out before BWBA.

Ah, the intro episode. I thought it was in season 23. Its just Thomas and Bertie rewritten but Cleo is avoiding her jobs. No, it somehow didn't destroy my liking to her.

I think its cute but Thomas would've straight up ignored Gordon.

Overall impression: Not as shitty as its made to be. It has its good moments and bad moments.

I'm so glad that I wasn't bombarded with fantasy sequences with this one. Those are just plain ridiculous, for the most part. In some episodes, it fits like James the Super Engine and Thomas' Animal Friends. The one in Emily's Best Friend made me cringe but I enjoyed it because its Edwad and Emily.

Listen, I'm desperate for 2-12 content, man, and I've been ignoring model era for a good while because I just dont want to.

April 15 on Lasqueti Island.

Home after some adventures. i left Puerto by plane to Mexico city, and on my flight to Chetumal for Belize I got Covid. I was the only person on the plane wearing a mask! 1 week sick, blah!

Belize was all about the dentist who made me new dentures, excellent work at 20% of the Canadian price, and still 30% less than the Mexicans. $1000 can dollars all in. Those savings paid for my travel, air b&b, and food. After much online searching I finally chose the first one air b&b I,d seen and it was pretty good. A small house in the yard of a dog rescue center, run by an expat American lady $1500 for the month, and a small pool, AC for the hot afternoons, and a hot plate kitchen. Even a hot shower bathroom. I had 6 devoted dog pals who rushed me whenever I went onto my porch. A few chicken scraps go a long way!

Corozol in Belize was boring, hot, flat, no good food, and no cultural stuff. I met a few people, and was surprised by how many refugees there were from Honduras, Guatemala etc. The bay, and it is extensive, was cloudy with the limestone silt that paves the bottom. I never swam there. So, skip Corozol...

Leaving Belize after my permitted 30 day stay was easy.Eddy the fat taxi driver insisted on leaving at 5 30 am to avoid the Easter Sunday border rush. Actually he just wanted to be at the border to pick up the returning Belizean fares. What the heck, it was time to go and he did whisk me through both border stops. Could have had a trunk full of dope! A second taxi(included in the $40 US $ price got me to the ADO bus station in Chetumal, where the online ticket worked except that the seat I,d saved had been sold. Got another further back and except for the disgruntled Mexican woman who had taken my seat it worked. A 3 hour wait for a 6 hour bus ride. But.. the seats were supremely comfortable, ride a bit bouncy, and I had 5 hours of MP3 music to dull the roar. Went through Tulum, unrecognizable. 5 miles by 3, where in 1980 we had 2 restaurants(chickens chopped to order), one grocery store and a pharmacy. 4 lane highway, and a continous string of luxury hotels from there to Playa Del Carmen, where they were more discretely hidden by high walls and gates. Into Cancun by 3 and as suggested by other travellers online I walked out to the street and got a cab for 79 pesos to the Ferry. Ultramar, fast catamarans shuffling thousands of tourists to Isla Mujeres daily $400 pesos one way! But on arrival I navigated the flat streets in intense heat to the Selina hostel. Packed with people for the Easter weekend, but i chose the pricier 4 bed dorm and had it to myself for 2 nights. Typical hostel, euro youth glued to phones, tecno blaring at the bar and dirty pool, and strobe lights slicing the night . Had a big kitchen and i cooked food I bought at Chedraui(by bus). Food was 25%c cheaper than in Puerto. 3 blocks to North beach, a lovely white sand stretch with a zillion pay to sit loungers. I found shade by a fence and swam repeatedly in warm blue water. Very nice! I did walk the promenade, saw the places I,d been to before, and would still recomend the island as a stop for swimming. Wildly overpacked with souvenir stalls and restaurants and the streets are dangerous with hundreds of golf carts rented by oblivious gringos. The uproar dies down somewhat when the last ferry goes a t 9 pm. It wa a 3 day stop for me to make my Westjet flight back to Vancouver.

The usual route to the airport, way out of town was to taxi to the ADO station and take their shuttle. I,d met Amber (Vancouver) at the hostel and she suggested Uber. Well, that was easy, cheaper, and way faster. Westjet was efficient, my papers were in order, and I finally had a cold drink at inflated airport prices. 4 hour wait, and I got anxious when the flight was not posted, so I went looking, found a mass of canadians ready to board. Boeing(bolts?)dreamliner fully packed, 6 hours to Yvr, arriving just as the last skytrain left, I went to the mezzanine and unpacked my sport seats, chained my bags after checking with security, and flopped in the cold for 4 hours. Sleep? More like unconciuosness, but better than a $200 hotel for 4 hours.

6 am Canada line to downtown, bus to Horseshoe bay, taxi to Shannon and Spensers house for 4 hours of sleep, a hot shower, and relax. Kids came home, life ramped up, and i stayed 2 days. Costco , helped Spenser with maintenance in Parksville and on the 2 30 ferry for pickup by buddy Wayne. True the pipes leak, and it,s bloody cold(6degrees) but the sun came out, the sheep have lambs and It,s Spring! First geese went north ,a taliman sign for me, and I,m happy to be home.

Richardson Hitchins says he’s too good to feel pressure in headlining for the first time in his career on Saturday night – and will put on a dazzling performance against Jose Zepeda to prove it, as they clash at Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida, live worldwide on DAZN.

RG MS Q3: Know Your Men's Singles Qualifiers + Lucky Losers (Day 2)

Day 2

Section 14: Sebastian Ofner (d. Facundo Diaz Acosta 7-5, 6-3)

Diaz Acosta's 12-match winning streak will always be remembered as Ofner took the best out of him throughout the match. The Argentinean initially had the moment by being up a break after Ofner's forehand rush, only for Ofner to break back when Diaz Acosta tried to paint the lines. After serving for the first set 7-5, Ofner came up with some notable winners in crucial moments: a forehand winner to break 2-0, and a backhand winner to seal the match 6-3, thanks to him pacing those shots.

Section 2: Elias Ymer (d. Yannick Hanfmann 6-3, 6-4)

Hanfmann might have had a resurgent run in Rome Masters 1000, but his chance to enter the main draw relied on the lucky loser draw as Elias took control of this match instead. After several consecutive breaks, some of which came from Elias' volley and Hanfmann's forehand rush, Elias served for the first set and set the tone of the second set from his volleys, and he did not look back since.

Section 7: Flavio Cobolli (d. Laurent Lokoli 7-5, 6-3)

Cobolli's important points in this match came from his backhands instead, where one of them enabled him to break 4-3, but he had to serve for the set twice as Lokoli came up with a backhand winner. Once Lokoli double-faulted at the start of the second set, the Italian did not look back since, he even won the match with a swift backhand winner to secure the main draw berth to confirm his lately improved form.

Section 13: Thiago Seyboth Wild (d. Dominik Koepfer 6-1, 6-1)

Surprisingly, although both players had similarly bright forms coming to the qualifying (with Seyboth Wild bagging several titles in the Latin American Challengers while Koepfer had 2 Mexican Challenger finals), Seyboth Wild ended up double-breadsticking Koepfer. The latter looked outplayed thanks to the former's full-on aggression, which was visible in some point constructions (from his forehand to his drop shots).

Section 1: Aslan Karatsev (d. Nicolas Moreno de Alboran 6-4, 6-3)

Confirming his comeback Madrid Masters 1000 run and learning from "how to be a lucky loser" back from Roland Garros 2020, his explosive shots gave it all when they were executed accurately, e.g. the swift backhand return to break 2-1 in the first set. The flow was on his racquet bar several breaks at the expense of his errors (classic rushed shots), but his firing forehands carried some breaks, with another backhand return ace to break for the match in the second set, coming back from 0-3 down. Back with a bang for a run, eh?

Section 6: Genaro Alberto Olivieri (d. Adrian Andreev 6-2, 5-7, 6-4)

Although Olivieri started dominantly by taking the first set 6-2, the chaos started in the middle of the second set thanks to their point construction: a cross-court forehand from Olivieri, reminiscent of his third set break during the Montevideo Challenger Final in 2022, and Adrian's forehand at one moment. However, Adrian's forehands were sought after, and albeit having to dig deeper due to his double fault for Adrian's second set (5-7), Olivieri's power balance should be tested: even when he came up with a drop shot for his game point!

Section 11: Timofey Skatov (d. Felipe Meligeni R. Alves 2-6, 7-5, 6-3)

There was not much difference between Skatov and Felipe in their games, except for some varying differentials. Although Felipe controlled one set and a half, Skatov absorbed the Brazilian's pace well before breaking back to 4-4 (2nd set), which tables turned since. With Felipe visibly rushed after, Skatov managed to come out of the pressure, outside of creating some with the lob, with a working drop shot to save one of Felipe's break points before an important hold, taking the third set 6-3 for his main draw berth.

Section 5: Emilio Nava (d. Geoffrey Blancaneaux 2-6, 6-4, 6-3)

Last but not least, Emilio dramatically qualified against Blancaneaux. After Blancaneaux had a stellar first set, Emilio saved one of the latter's break points with some working volleys, adding more pressure to Blancaneaux's service games. Ultimately, Blancaneaux double-faulted twice (hence down 2 set points), before Emilio's lob took him the second set 6-4. Despite excelling in the points construction department, Blancaneaux's other double fault cost him the match, where Emilio stood his ground until the end (6-3).

Lucky Losers

Dominic Stricker (l. Thiago Agustin Tirante 3-6, 6-1, 1-6)

Finally reaching his first Grand Slam main draw for the first time (as a lucky loser), Stricker still needs to be wary of some kinds of pressure points coming up. Albeit having several interesting points in the match, e.g. a lob to set him 2 points ahead at the start of the match and a reliable backhand one game to the second set breadstick, the controlled aggression will be tested further in the main draw, with the match being in the spotlight.

Jurij Rodionov (l. Lucas Pouille 6-1, 5-7, 0-6)

Apparently, J. Rodionov will also face Pouille in the first round of the main draw. Here, J. Rodionov started the match well by having a working volley to break 2-0, eventually dominating the flow until he served a breadstick (6-1). However, he succumbed to the pressure toward the end of the second set when Pouille stepped up, which resulted in the double fault for Pouille's second set and third set bagel. Will J. Rodionov assert revenge or Pouille take it all again? It is highly encouraged to follow or watch this rematch!

Facundo Diaz Acosta (l. Sebastian Ofner 5-7, 3-6)

Diaz Acosta had his moments in the match, benefitting from an early break at the expense of Ofner's rushed shots. However, those rushes did not carry enough despite having the depth (e.g. the cross-court forehand a point before he held his service game), often coming up with those under pressure as displayed in the previous Challengers he won (Savannah & Oeiras 4 Challengers). Having his 12-match streak snubbed in this round, he might take this chance personally and use it to its full potential.

Yannick Hanfmann (l. Elias Ymer 3-6, 4-6)

Entering right after Benjamin Bonzi's withdrawal, Hanfmann finally had his chance to shine after his Rome Masters 1000 comeback run. Paying off his South American Challenger runs in the last semester of 2022, he did not drop a set except this loss. Even if he had 2 break points in one of the breaking games of the first set thanks to his volley, it did not carry him enough as he tried to stay from the baseline and Elias tried to control the flow from the net. Drawn fourth in the lucky loser draw, Hanfmann now had his chance to deepen his comeback run in Roland Garros. Will he, won't he?

I am stupid but

what does HFTS stand for? I really like the designs of the characters and they seem interesting :D

HFTS stands for Home For Troubled Specimens, it’s a lab in potentially the same universe as Ambient Creek, the character Damon being an escaped test subject. HFTS takes place in the current year, and there’s a lot of things about it I just can’t get into. Like AC it’ll be a comic. HFTS isn’t entirely mine, it was my s/o’s idea entirely, I was just added in when we started hanging out more and now we own a discord server dedicated to it with 70+ members :]

Summing up my characters:

Valentine/Val - dove avian human, hates being called Val, assumed to be gay but is really heterosexual, best friend of Vegas/Roulé

Vegas/Roulé - (CLOSED SPECIES) disguised Miracyan, trans man and has zero relation to daft punk, not even French. He has a long lost child from his world and is currently being mind controlled by the main antagonist Zoganyth (Zoga)

Thoma/0.3 - full name unknown, the 0.3 in his name is his code, he responds to it like a name and is essentially me. Once human, after an accident with his current husband in the lab, both him and his husband were terribly hurt, and both required robotics to save their lives. Thoma is the adopted son of the main guard Rey (character of my s/o) and is a supporting figure in the series

Gir/0.8/Garret - a big buff man with a burnt face, he worked at Hot Topic years prior and owns an Invader Zim Gir hoodie, giving him his nickname “Gir”. Garret is also a security guard, and a very fun father to his two adopted kids.

Rowan and Lola - Thoma and Gir’s adopted kids, also cyborgs but this was done not because of a fatal incident, but they wanted to be like their dads. Lola is a coffee addict, once working at a café where her co-workers consistently called her dad (Gir) hot and a dilf, where she quit and went on to work at the lab with her family. Rowan is a rowdy younger brother who constantly challenges himself with impossible tasks, such as licking his elbow, staring at the wall for 24 hours, going without sleep for a week, and cleaning his hazardous environment of a room.

Al/Alexander - Thoma’s ex from high school, he was still dating Thoma before the accident, and was informed his partner had died. He never got with another person after Thoma’s “death” and stayed loyal to his departed partner (he’s a little creepy). Later finding out after Thoma escaped prison that his beloved was still alive and working at HFTS, applying for the job as a scientist or “doc”, and reuniting with his- now married- partner, before getting the shit beaten out of him by Gir for not listening.

Gulliver - a miracyan kidnapped by Roulé from the mainland and forced to live in a cage with the other captive cyans. He has a massive crush on Rey, but he’s too small.

Guy - (NO RELATION TO DAFT PUNK) a runt miracyan who’s married to a green cyan whom loves plants too much. Guy was the only survivor of his litter as his littermates were killed by the clan leader Rust after his mother Rey got with a lower rank (Guy’s father Bluesky.) Blue escaped with two newlings, one of which being Guy. The other died but Guy survived. Later being separated from Bluesky and naming himself. Guy is Mexican, but is extremely pale from staying in darkness his whole life

Nova - Rey’s other daughter, trans girl and favorite. Nova is very coddled and babies by her mother, and wishes to be let go and to go places on her own, running away with Rust, the cyan clan leader that killed Guy’s littermates, and becoming like a daughter to Rust. Her biological father Norman rejects her and calls her a mistake any time they interact. Nova obviously hates her dad.

(Nova, Rey, Rust, Guy, Norman (one of them), Gulliver, Bluesky, and Roulé are part of a closed species owned by my s/o Cyronyde and as of right now and maybe in the future will remain closed and only open to certain people, any cyans made without permission from Cyro themselves is not canon and will not be canon, and we request no one make a cyan of their own again, without specific permission from Cyro. Also no, Cyro isn’t on tumblr)

Her favorite movie would probably be an anime movie

She plays the shortstop position. Shortstop fields many balls, giving her many opportunities to mess up and invent new excuses

When angry, she tries to yell/argue, and ends up angry-crying. She uses humor to mask her feelings, so when she’s seriously upset, everything ends up coming to the surface at once.

She likes personality tests and quizzes like “Which Naruto character are you?”

Her personality type is ESFP

Akarsha is smart despite acting dumb, but doesn’t do well on tests (B+/A- is unfortunately considered not doing well in her environment)

She would not have pursued a friendship with Diya under normal circumstances

She became friends with Noelle by pranking her (see long details in Ask 13!)

She has known she was bi for about a year at the time of Butterfly Soup. Spending a lot of time on the Internet helped her awareness

Her dad’s sense of humor is similar to her, and her parents are “big weirdos” so they mostly get along (More details on her dad in Asks 14)

She is only fluent in English because her parents worried about her fitting in and only smoke to her in English

She knows a bit of Spanish from classes at school

Her parents pressure her to know her career and often brag to other parents of her smartness and successfulness

Because of this, she feels like she doesn’t have things together like she should and worries she is not smart and will end up as a failure

When sick, she milks it for sympathy and excuses for what she has done. She acts like she’s on her deathbed and looks pitiful. She also blows her nose with a loud honking noise.

Her posture is not that good

In songs that say Noelle (Teenage Dirtbag) and Noel (like in Christmas songs), Akarsha points it out saying, “It’s you Noelle”

Her surprised sprite is based off of Trucy’s surprised sprite from Ace Attorney. Brianna Lei loves how over-the-top it looks

She went as Guy Fieri for Halloween

During trick-or-treating, she jumped out at the group from behind bushes a few times (see Asks 18 for more details!)

She had a pet snail in elementary school, but accidentally killed it when she tried to wash it with shampoo. She still mourns it

last series: last actual series I followed intently was TBOBF. Currently I’m rewatching The Simpsons as I work, though IDK if that counts

sweet, spicy, or savory: it really depends on my current mood and/or cravings, but I tend to go for savory or spicy more than sweet (not that I don’t have a sweet tooth!). I used to hate spicy things as a kid, but as I’ve grown older, and especially since I married my husband and started cooking family recipes (he’s Mexican) I’ve really gotten into spicy foods. Jalapeños are a staple in my fridge now!

coffee or tea: I like tea but coffee is almost always my go-to

three ships: Dinluke is obvious I think, so let’s also go with Bagginshield, ShieldHusbands (Clint/Coulson) and Codywan :D

first ever ship: hmmm. I’m not sure, but Harry Potter was some of the first fic I read so probably Wolfstar. I usually didn’t ship people who weren’t together in the actual media, tbh, probably because I personally wasn’t inclined to think of anyone that way, being a baby ace (and probably demiromantic too tbh) and not knowing it.  currently working on: so. many. WIPs. @mblogs is the only person keeping me sane in the face of all of them 😅 There’s chapter six of Far Across the Distance, chapter two of Just Give Me Time, the huge NaNo project we’re still working on (An Ever-Fixed Mark), all of which are DinLuke. Then I have a Codywan fix-it for my soulmate AU (Like the Dawn) that is still being worked on, a few new Commander Fox snippets cause he’s taken over my brain, and some tumblr prompts I promise are actually being worked on, plus other random wips for other fandoms like Daredevil and Spider-Man. Whooo! 

favorite piece of clothing: ooooh I have some great ones but I love the cozy sweater my MIL got me for christmas, I’m wearing it right now :) comfort food: probably mashed potatoes, they’re always amazing

favorite time of year: I really like fall, when it’s cool enough to start bundling up in extra layers. It’s so cozy!

fav fanfiction: Good lord, I have so many. Most recently, though, it’s their days are darker by always_a_slut_for_hc (@calamity-aims  on tumblr). It’s SUCH a good Commander Fox fix-it fic. I’m such a sucker for “this character is silently suffering and their loved ones finally realize and get them the help they need” fics and this one is IT. I love the brothers’ interactions too-- Wolffe takes care of Fox, it’s just so soft and lovely 😍  Another one is Clan of Four!!! A fantastic Dinluke fic, it deserves to be recognized as one of the classics. Beautiful writing and art by @withercrown and @a-aristippus . It’s super sweet and loving; not just romantic love, but also familial love and affection between Luke and Grogu, Din and Rey, and all four of them. It just leaves you with such a happy heart 🥰 ----

does anyone else on the team have an accent? if so, what words do the rest of the team like making them say?

both Roman and Remus have Puerto Rican accents, although Remus’s is typically more pronounced; (the Prince parents put Roman through a number of speech therapy sessions in an attempt to “Americanize” his voice — it was a whole racist mess); having said that, the team generally doesn’t bother the Prince twins about their accents, but the twins do oftentimes quarrel with D in spanish (because “es ‘manejar,’ no ‘manejal.’ ¿incluso hablas español?”)

Patton and D both have, broadly speaking, “Mexican” accents — though Patton’s family has a Jalisco accent when speaking Spanish whereas D has a Yucateco one, which leads to slight variations in their English-speaking accents as well — and Patton’s accent is heavier since he grew up in a predominantly Spanish-speaking family; again, using their accents for entertainment is implicitly understood to be Off Limits, but their teammates will occasionally ask them for help ordering at Mexican restaurants

Emile and Remy grew up in California, but they honestly don’t have??? too much of an accent to show for it??? they say “like” and “hella” and “dude” more than the average Florida Ace — and Remy sometimes deliberately leans into the Valley Girl Accent for fun — but apart from that, their accents are pretty subtle

Logan is,,, Minnesotan. he does not have an accent, “Jared I Swear to God”

Virgil grew up in Florida and was raised by his White Mother, so his diction is exactly like the Floridian natives’; he can, however, talk exactly like the lead singer of Blink 182 when he tries, which is fun

Jared’s got an Texan accent, but — like Logan — his accent is more subtle than what the media likes to portray it as; he drops his g’s at the end of some words (i.e. “i’m goin’ to the store”), and he sometimes says “ice” a bit more like “ass” (which is hilarious), so the team at least has some material to work with; he has also unironically said “howdy,” so There’s That

Callen's native language is Korean, so he’s still got that accent going for him when he speaks English; again though, “we only force white people to use their accents for entertainment here in the Florida Aces Locker Room”

speaking of, Payton is Irish, so Everything he says is fantastic; the team’s favorite things to make him say include “th” words (thirty-three, third, thanks, etc) and phrases like “Top O’ the Mornin’ To Ya!”

David’s from New York, so fun words for him include “bodega,” “forget about it,’ "schlep,” and “coffee” among others

Myles is British. he has not known peace since he joined this team.

Teddy’s Italian, so he has a habit of skipping out on the “h” sound at the beginning of words like “happy” or “hospital”

Bo still prefers sign to spoken words, but when he chooses to speak, he’s got a Swedish accent going for him, (which. Jared Dies); the team made exactly One Joke about him swapping out a “J” for the “Y” sound, but then he showed them the word “sjuksköterska” and asked them to pronounce it, so they dropped it pretty fast
