God merlin ending is so depressing. They could have at least shown the Merlin Arthur reunion in modern times, but no just old sad Merlin walking in present day still waiting for Arthur

i honestly would have been good with a voiced-over “Merlin” right as credits roll, like for real

#my toxic trait is saying i love ambiguous endings but actually can only stand them if there’s the smallest chance of hope #it can be open ended and i still need something to just confirm for myself that everything is ok #disembodied Arthur calling out Merlin’s name as credits roll? that’s enough for my mind to not break over #a backdrop scene of the lake as Merlin walks away and we see bubbles? i can run with that #do we get that? no #and so like the rest of the once and future fandom i am not able to leave #bbc merlin #asks #they really did that #they really created a campy and fun show about a frayed Merlin who is Arthur’s peer instead of his mentor and turned it into a tragic end #like what the fuck
