hey girl have you seen that canon kentparse timeline post? I swear I saw it floating around but now I can’t find it
this is the old guide we usually refer to but kvp90 did a recent version here:
#check please#kent parson#long rant in the tags about the line “kent visits samwell with (potentially) the cup”#he did naught#shitty says “it's not like he showed up with the Calder under his arm or anything” in reference to his next line#which is “Kent Parson is a humble bro”#so what shitty said is rhetorical#a hyperbole#we do not piss on the poor on this blog#and ANOTHER THING#players have their day with the cup in summer#it would be physically impossible for kent to bring the cup to samwell because he wouldnt have access to it#and also WHY WOULD HE#yes kent is a pathetic little dog (only rivalled by jack zimmermann) but i dont think kent is that needy for it that he would haul the CUP#all the way to SAMWELL#like#on a passenger plane?? what are the logistics here#hello???#can anyone hear me??#screaming into the void over here

i completely understand & agree with the backlash against students using chatgpt to get degrees but some of you are out here saying "getting a degree in xyz means pulling multiple consecutive all-nighters and writing essays through debilitating migraines and having severe back pain from constantly studying at your desk and chugging energy drinks until you get a kidney stone and waking up wishing you were dead every day, and that's just part of the natural process of learning!!!" and like. umm. i don't think that any of us should have had to endure that either. like maybe the solution for stopping students from using anti-learning software depends on college institutions making the process of learning actually sustainable on the human body & mind rather than a grueling health-destroying soul-crushing endeavor
#be free my post#im hyperbolizing based on a post i saw in passing#about how getting a degree in a certain field meant eye strain and back pain etc#but my point stands

When I was younger and researching the autism diagnosis criteria and symptoms, I thought “oh I couldn’t POSSIBLY be autistic.” Because when I read “takes everything literally” I thought it literally meant EVERYTHING and I was like “I don’t take EVERYTHING literally, just most things!” And I just realized the other day that it didn’t actually mean EVERYTHING and that was an overstatement.
#textpost#text post#neurodivergent#actually autistic#autism#autistic things#autistic experiences#neurodiversity#why is there a hyperbole in the statement talking about people taking hyperboles literally

Sometimes I wish we would start calling out the performative radicalism on this site for the poser bullshit it is. "Remember, it's always morally correct to kill a cop!" "Don't forget to firebomb your local government office!" "Wow, it sure would be a shame if these instructions on how to make a molotov cocktail got spread around!"
Okay. But you're not killing cops or firebombing government offices. You are posting on a dying microblogging website to a carefully-curated echo chamber that has radicalized itself into thinking that taking the absolute most extreme position on any subject is praxis but that anyone discussing the most practical way to effect actual change is your sworn enemy. You do not have the street cred OR the activist cred to be talking about killing cops, babe.
#thinking about the person i saw saying that if you're at a protest#and other protesters try to stop you from becoming violent you should just kill them bc 'peace police are still police'#even taken as hyperbole that's simply dumb as shit on every conceivable level#it's also pretty blatantly hypocritical coming from people who are usually self-avowed prison/death penalty abolitionists#like i'm sorry but you don't get to be a death penalty abolitionist and also call for the death of your political enemies online#this isn't a major issue or anything i'm just bored and annoyed

I was just browsing around here at random and I think the current generation of social media users need to re-learn a certain truth:
the Secret Service will investigate all perceived threats to the president or top government officials, even if they are clearly unserious.
Now, they aren't going to arrest you for joking about it. They are going to show up at your house with printouts of your tumblr and other social media and ask you some very pointed questions and it's going to be extremely uncomfortable. They want you to know that they know what you said, and that if you were planning to do more than talk, you should stop that, because now they have their eye on you.
And yeah, in the back of their minds they're thinking "what if this seemingly harmless poster actually turns out to have a gun and a plan, and we dismiss them because we think they couldn't possibly be serious?" But mainly the first thing.
Let me make one thing clear: I am expressing neither approval or disapproval of this practice. I am stating the fact that they've done this for decades -- it's not a particular feature of the new administration. And given that their one and only job is keeping some very unpopular people alive, it makes sense that they're being damn sure no one slips through the cracks. Because it only takes one.
Oh, and just for the record, if you use common censorship techniques to talk about "unaliving" or "k*lling" someone you shouldn't, they can still find you. Some of these people have been on the social media beat for years by now, you know they speak fluent TikTok.
Be safe out there, okay? Don't get put on a list for a dumb joke.
#by and large you can say all kinds of hyperbolic violent shit about random people and not draw LEO attention#it won't be regarded as a 'true threat'#(fuck you mullenweg)#but y'all i'm serious they are SUPER sensitive about the president#because among all the people joking and venting are also plenty of people mad enough to make a real plan#we don't hear about most of them because they're stopped before it gets that far#but like. imagine the obama years.

We are losing nearly ten percent of the planet’s insect population every decade due to human influence. If you have taken even an entry level biology course you understand how terrifying that figure is for not just humans but all life on Earth. As EO Wilson put it,
“If all mankind were to disappear, the world would regenerate back to the rich state of equilibrium that existed ten thousand years ago. If insects were to vanish, the environment would collapse into chaos”
Even despite the urgency of this issue, there are few conservation initiatives focused solely on preserving invertebrates. The Xerces Society is one such organization! If you share my concern about insect population decline (and you are able to do so), please consider donating to their current fundraiser to help protect our most vulnerable neighbors. They are still short of their fundraising goal!
#fundraising#donations#Xerces society#invertebrates#conservation#memes#this meme is hyperbole btw I know XS is not the only org working on insect conservation#just trying to illustrate the way my climate anxiety is manifesting

I'm still holding out hope for a Cuomo loss, but if that sex pest becomes the mayor of NYC, I will be forced to write it off as an irredeemable hellhole.
#this is a little hyperbolic but a Cuomo win would permanently ruin my opinion of the city#even its rich ethnic enclaves would not be enough to redeem it in my eyes#politics#New York City#Cornelius rambles a whole bunch

I love how Wales looked at the rest of Medieval Europe slitting throats because someone spilled their drink or looked at them weird and went "you know how else we could deal with shit? money" and proceeded to create an elaborate system of fines for everything from swearing at your husband to actual murder. I owe my husband three copper pennies from pms last month

Scenes/Things in Supernatural that genuinely don't make sense to me if Dean was straight:
The confession booth scene.
Sam just rolling with the fact that Dean's siren is a guy while still thinking sirens infect people through sex.
Dean being flustered by several men: Gunner Lawless, Aaron, Doctor Sexy, etc.
All the parallels between Destiel and other couples. (A big one being "last night on Earth" bc how do you do that accidentally.)
Having all the gay jokes be on Dean instead of Sam.
Paralleling Sam meeting his childhood celebrity crush with Dean meeting Gunner Lawless.
The boner Dean got when Cas cleaned up.
Dean gulping after Cas does an impression from a Western movie.
Charlie, a lesbian, calling Castiel "dreamy."
The way Mary looks at Dean and Cas when they hug.
Dean wondering why everyone assumes he's gay, while Sam not caring.
The logic that Charlie can't flirt with guys because she's only attracted to women, but then having Dean flirt with the guy for her.
Dean seeming disappointed when learning that Aaron's flirting was fake.
The amount of time Dean and Cas spend staring at each other.
Dean canonically having an orgy with Crowley.
A woman saying that she knows when someone's pining for someone else to Dean, just for us to learn that Dean was never in love with Amara.
The set design and script choices that lead to a cross in the background while Dean said "I do." to Cas after he came back to life.
That time when Dean wanted to say something and Cas was like, "It's okay, I heard your prayer." But Dean still looked like he wanted to say something important.
Amara: [about Dean] "I can see inside your heart. Feel the love you feel. Except, it’s cloaked in shame.”
If you want to have a more expansive list, @destiel-is-real-idgaf added to this one quite nicely.
#i'm not even trying to prove a point#I'm just genuinely confused as to what the heck these scenes were supposed to be if dean is not bi#the fact that dean was the best written bi character who struggles with internalized homophobia I have ever seen and it was an accident#insane#dean and cas had the best relationship development I have ever seen#destiel#deancas#dean winchester#dean is bi#bi dean#bi dean winchester#they did my son so dirty#he grew so much over the seasons#without his dad around to force toxic masculinity#they let him be dorky#goofy#geeky#good at cooking#but didn't let him be bi#i will be adding more to the list#the title is a bit of a hyperbole#some of these do make sense with Dean being straight#but they're honestly pushing it

Dear Nextdoor,
I was resubscribed, for some terrible reason unknown to me, to emails from this site, an unparalleled locus of poorly-concealed racism, unleashed dogs, missing outdoor cats (surely unrelated), and unabashed classist bullying of the homeless for being unsightly and making people mildly uncomfortable for the minute and a half they are trapped one car behind the stoplight.
I'm not sure why this has happened.
Imagine my dismay when I discovered that in order to be certain I had removed myself from all email notifications, I had to go deep into settings and remove myself from each sub-subcategory individually. There were so many. I fear, even now, that I missed one, and coming to the site to turn one off seemed to reactivate all the others. (If deliberate, an extremely insidious and clever tactic.)
A single button which, when pressed, would end this piecemeal torment would suffice.
I would deactivate my account entirely but A) I want to find out approximately where the Cybertruck owner near me lives so I can find it, drive by, and laugh at it instead of simply hoping to spot it in the parking lot of Dick's Sporting Goods, and B) I don't want to lose track of the lovely interactions I have had here, including the people who told me that the Bible bids us to let homeless people starve, and the ones who said that their free-roaming pets' testicles were so important to God's plan that they should not be removed, lest His intent for all creatures to go forth, multiply, and die on the side of the highway be foiled. I mean, where else do you get to see something like that? Aside from, I suppose, every other social media site at this point. That's where we are as a society.
"But wait!" I hear the leering specter of user retention croon. "This site does offer something special: you get to know these people live near you!"
I do not want that.
Anyway, I wanted to let you know that having to do it all bit by bit was completely unnecessary and felt deeply insulting in some way, as if my ability to know whether or not a given site is a festering cesspit dedicated to the squabblings of a loudly mediocre populace (that would probably gladly fling their own goopy white dogs under the bus in pursuit of a world without bitchy gays like me, were there any public transportation here worth mentioning) were being called into question.
Maybe give people a single button to press to revoke their consent to receive updates on the horrendous cavalcade of human folly. That would be better than making me think about it for almost two minutes during which I could have been showing people on Bluesky pictures of my cat, who eats soap.
I'm not denying the site must be useful for some, but it really is a terrible thing. Probably because of where I live, but I can't help that part.
Be well, anonymous stranger. None of this is your personal fault. Please tell those above you that the email tickyboxes are the internet equivalent of those spikes that prevent perfectly nice birds from landing on beige buildings.
Thank you for allowing me to procrastinate at you.
-- A perfectly normal individual who would never vaguepost about anyone's lawn.
#I actually sent this#after over a week of daily emails i tried to unsubscribe to i finally had a go at stopping them altogether#and it was a biblical trial#(hyperbole)#I hope they appreciate it#i really am not kidding until recently it was worse than the comments section of twitter#by me#screaming endlessly into the void
