#dandy's doodles#professor layton#henry ledore#the caption comes from one of the pages i wrote with my left hand a bit of a while back#the page begins saying 'henry scares me in that he is my future should my success continue into the capitalist hellscape of adulthood'#and i do think about henry a lot in terms of capitalism and anxiety and success/survival. and my dad#i'm very similar to my dad in a lot of ways. the page could've just as well said:#'my dad scares me in that he is my future should my success continue into the capitalist hellscape of adulthood'#he is so very responsible and organized and diligent and hardworking. and so very very stressed#all of which i know i'll have to be if i'm going to survive/be successful (which to me are the same thing)#henry is very similar to my dad for being all of those things. and similar to me for having the fear of having to be them#part of him just wants to be a little kid i think. he doesn't wanna grow up and work himself to death but he knows that's his destiny#to quote the page again: 'i was born to be perfect or die trying. natural selection will mean the certain extinction of my inner child'#he wants to be safe and loved. he doesn't wanna be an adult. but he's been forced to embody the pinnacle of adulthood#and thus he ends up proving everyone who enforced his obedience 'right'#he's been beaten and molded into the model adult#he was never taught to expect love so he learned to survive (and succeed) without it. which is very economical#in a strange way then henry is one of capitalism's most prized products isn't he?

Hi Pinky, do you think. Barbara is a great mother to Jim? I see quite a few people who think she is bad mom because what happened when Gave Jim the Slient treatment and While i agree and understand that some of them its more for personal thing. I dont think it made Barbara a bad character. i do think it her a flawed mom, but not an awful one.

Hmm its a hard question to answer honestly. Because obviously Barbara and Jim love each other deeply and there's plenty of care there in their relationship.
Giving Jim the silent treatment when it was very clear that he was in some kind of trouble and that going on for MONTHS was very inconsiderate and stubborn of Barbara however. She should have read the letter Jim wrote her. But honestly this feels less the fault of the character and more the fault of the writers. At this stage they were very determined to keep Barbara out of the know. It feels OOC a bit to me, having her discard such obvious warning signs as a doctor, since those letters were kinda giving the vibe of a suicide note.
It's also made worse that Barbara is already a absent mother who spends most her time working... I think she was so used to Jim behaving and being perfect all the time that him supposedly acting his age as a teenager threw her off badly, as she didn't need to really establish mum rules before then.
Jim is also out of line with his behaviour, though Barbara didn't have the tools available to deal with it is the problem. It's not really either of their faults, but I do think they're not as close to one another as the show seems to make out. If Jim trusted his mum completely, he wouldn't have kept Trollhunting a secret. Even in season three he tries to hide everything from Barbara! Even saying that the hospital gave her sick leave and that's why Barbara was making up stories about trolls when she tried to tell the other parents the truth!
Jim and Barbara are both flawed characters, but that also makes them more realistic. (Obviously they're cinnamon rolls compared to like Strickler lol, but you get my point).

i have no mouth and i must scream speech but for about insomnia hate hate hate let me tell you how much i have come to hate being awake
#took half an expired tops brand unisom . wheeeee medicine that does nothing and then the next day you're groggy for twelve hours#but i have to do SOMEthing if i don't Try to make myself sleep that's Giving Up and if you Give Up . well#this is the second week in a row that ive failed to sleep on a night leading into the work week and i know most of the external reasons why#like. busy day tomorrow so anxious. haven't given myself a full weekend in a really long time so strung out.#had important stuff to do earlier that didn't happen so dwelling on that. woke up at 9am and wasn't out of bed until ten thirty so like#i got more than adequate sleep last night but this does not make me feel less worried about NOT sleeping TONIGHT#because again. every time i have a night of big insomnia im convinced that it's the beginning of an unending trend#that will make me wind up like my mother who is lucky she gets more than three hours of sleep every couple of weeks#and while she's done this her whole life qnd has adjusted to it (as much as a body can) i just know. based on how insomnia is for me#that i never could. it would be exactly as terrible every time i would never be able to be calm while it was happening#anyway everybody send me your best knockout gas#AND. it's SNOWING. fuck everything i hate it all#tomorrow im gonna be groggy as hell and have to drive to work and back and have to be With It bc we're doing activities and shit#and have to be like the model of library enthusiasm when i barely have that on a good day. and not actually physically groan#every time someone new wants a card because it means i have to interrupt what im doing dor the next fifteen minutes to say a spiel#i know i shouldn't hate that i should be glad we're getting engagement. and i am. i just wish i wasn't the one at the desk#and im not good at keeping that off of my face or being welcoming when i dont feel welcoming#i haven't gotten to do processing at my actual office desk in months. haven't gotten to be Off The Floor#which certainly hasn't helped my overall stress levels. i need to not be socially on so much it's slowly pulling me apart#and then i get home wnd im too tired to do anything and my house also falls apart around me#but if i DON'T have outings i also rot . there's no solution to this problem. not without quitting my job which ill never do#bc in today's market id never get anything half as good as this ever again. and as has been established. this relatively good job#is still not good enough for me not to be emotionally and mentally falling apart

saw a tweet that pointed out that rei’s speakers are a ref to seele from evangelion and that’s like, a whole can of worms i need time to unpack lmao but one thing i noticed about rei’s speakers now that i’ve been told i should really be looking at them lmao was the text underneath those zeros!!!! the rhyme anima➕ art book included the back of the speakers in a small png, so it was previously unreadable for me, but!!!!
after some finagling to get a clear enough shot, from what i can see, that says hypnosismic -authentic- 零式 which translates to ‘type zero’. in eva, seele is a basically an oversight organisation, presumably made of 12 members (in reference to jesus’s 12 disciples) and it’s also assumed each number represents when each member joined the organisation. zero type i think implies this plenty on its own lol but coupled with that ref, maybe the mic rei’s been using this whole time is the very first ever completed mic, something outside of what he created for chuuoku 🤔
