Kristen Maldonado: You are one of our fan favourite Fiyeros and I was wondering if you're excited for the Wicked movie and what you hope that people take away from this world that you had previously been a part of and now it's gonna be able to be seen by people all over the world. Aaron Tveit: I'm so excited for the Wicked movie to premiere. I'm very fortunate that I got to be a part of the Les Mis film and I think movie musicals are so special. I think that anytime that there's one that's done at this scale, I think it's just amazing for the genre and amazing for theater. This story in particular, I mean, I did Wicked 15 years ago on Broadway and so to see it finally realized in this way with the people that are in it, it' amazing. I can't wait to see it. I haven't seen it yet. I got invited to a couple screens and I couldn't go, [laugh] so I'm actually dying to see it. It's a really wonderful thing to be a small part of that history and to see it going on to what it's about to go on to. Kristen: Oh absolutely and I love the Les Mis mention. That's another show that's one of my absolute favorites. In the world of Broadway, anybody could take on a role and it changes. When someone's on stage, like one person different, and it's completely a whole different project. Then to see it on screen and be like, wow, we've like encapsulated and we've like captured this moment, is so cool. You will forever be our Enjolras. Aaron: I'm like, wow, one day I'm gonna show that to like my kids or something. Look what I did, right? It's like very, very cool. ✧

Broadway World has an eleven minute interview with Sutton Foster and Aaron Tveit about their experiences performing in Sweeney Todd.

Foster and Tveit took the time to talk with Playbill in between early rehearsals for Sweeney Todd (and before Foster had to step into rehearsals for Once Upon a Mattress at New York City Center). The duo begins performances February 9, for a 12-week engagement (succeeding Josh Groban and Annaleigh Ashford). The two demonstrated an understanding of their morally complex characters that was exceptionally forgiving. Though the show may follow the downfall of two meat-pie-making killers in ways that are sometimes comedic and other times chilling, it is, at its core, a Shakespearean tragedy. And, according to Tveit and Foster, it’s also a love story.

“We’ve talked a lot about how this is a love story, and for the people who don’t already know Sweeney Todd, how long can we delay the inevitability of the end? How long can we instill hope for these characters?” posits Tveit.

Both Tveit and Foster acknowledge the “co-dependent, sort of abusive” dynamic (as Foster puts it) between Sweeney and Lovett, but they also acknowledge the humanity in their characters—as fragile and fading as it may be. “These two people need one another in a primal, carnal way,” says Foster.

I'm sorry but I need to just ramble for a second because holy bleeping shit I am shook. Sooo uhmmm I'm not too sure if you're familiar with the movie/novel Misery but fuck, why on earth did I decide to read this shit right before going to bed 😂? I don't like scary stuff so this book is way out of my comfort zone but I found myself way too intrigued by the description of a man being held captive by his rescuer following a car accident.

So far I've been enjoying the descriptions of the character's anguish but the part I just ended on was the most gruesome thing I've ever read and I have no idea how I'm supposed to sleep now so RIP to that I guess (I mean foot + axe + blowtorch, I'll leave the rest to your imagination).

Anyway all of this to say, your David Tennant gifs have been a lovely distraction, what a gorgeous man 😍! I'm now just picturing his adorable crying face and not well... blood and a severed- okay moving on. I've seen the movie Misery but it was so long ago I don't remember much of it. The only part I really remember is when she takes a sledge hammer to his feet to hobble him which is the movie version of the scene I think your referencing? And damn that sounds freaking intense!! I've never read the book but jeezus! That's very different and insane!
