Do you have a whump trope that you would like to see in the revival of White Collar, especially for Neal?
Oh gosh yes. So many. I want to see him get shot. Like badly. For real this time. A wound like the finale but he isn't faking his own death please. I want him bleeding out and I want Peter to freak out. And worse than getting shot in the leg which while I enjoyed sooooo much you have no idea but I want more. Much more. More blood, more pain, more stakes. More. Shoot him.
I would love to see more kidnapped whump for Neal too. Dangerous criminal kidnapping him to either A) get at Peter or B) use him for their own nefarious purposes. Then of course please hurt him while you have him thank you.
I'm currently obsessed with the scenario of Neal being lent to another department or organization and the new temporary handler treating him like dirt. Kinda like that one episode where Ruiz gets him kidnapped kinda on purpose. But I want it big and I want him hurting and abused.
Near drowning. We haven't had that for Neal have we? I need that please. That would be a good trope to use on Neal.
A good classic sick episode would be great. We need a good ole sick Neal episode.
Oh maybe even a poisoning! One of the fun ones where they get progressively sicker through the episode as they run out of time to find an antidote. Love that stuff.

Would you also have the same issue if the masjid was built instead of the mandir? then I agree with it otherwise not
Yes, if I lived in a Muslim majority country and masjid was being built and communal hatred was being incited against the country's minorities in the name of said building, I'd be saying the same thing. OBVIOUSLY. If something is wrong, it's wrong. Unlike some people, my stance on human rights doesn't change because they happen to belong to a different label.
On a different note, why are people always doing this strange what-aboutery? Do they think the situation changes just because you change the arbitrary labels? Or do people want a "gotcha!" moment for me?

do you think if he didn’t have Charlie to think about, Danny would’ve gone with Steve?
Oh man that is such a good question. I'm not sure. I feel like by that moment Danny was pretty damn happy with his life, including living in Hawaii. He had a family (both blood and not blood), a job he's good at and enjoys and is proud of, and he's found things to love about Hawaii. He even mentions the ocean as being a positive which is such a huge turn around from when he first arrived on the island. Danny was very settled and happy in his life in Hawaii. If Danny was 100% physically healthy/healed and he didn't have Charlie I still don't know for sure if he'd go with Steve. Maybe. It's not like he hasn't followed Steve before. Always when Steve needed him most. But those times feel different to me because he knew they'd be back. Heck half of the reason why he went was to bring Steve back in the first place. This feels more permanent (even though I know in my heart that Steve is absolutely returning. There's just no "when"). I also feel like Danny wouldn't leave the team alone for an undisclosed amount of time. I guess I feel like he wouldn't have gone with Steve. I can however see him, after a month or so, finding the neanderthal and dragging him home finally. That's a very Danny thing to do.

really have to thank the algorithm for putting your blog on my dash 🥰
& with that - hello!
will read through your review of “the six triple eight” later (exited for that, in terms of accuracy, even though i thoroughly enjoyed the movie ☺️👀) … but since you pointed out the scarcity of movies/ tv shows featuring the women during ww2 (& probably ww1, too), do you have any recs that fall into that category? or overall, what others did you enjoy?
have a nice day! 💖
Hi there!!! I'm glad you found me!! Welcome!
If after you read my long Six Triple Eight post you have any questions or wanna chat let me know! I love the WACs. I love the 6888th. I love talking about the WACs. Happy to chat.
Oh my god YES. YES I DO HAVE RECS. I devour all media with Women in WWII. Scarce as it may be. And finding a halfway decent representation is even harder to find. Here are some I really enjoy. They aren't perfect but I enjoyed them a lot.
Bomb Girls
Tumblr media
Bomb Girls is about the story of the women who joined a munitions factory in Canada during WWII. It's so good.
Lee
Tumblr media
This just came out and yeah there were some mistakes/liberties taken but what movie doesn't at this point and it's about Lee Miller who is incredible and Kate Winslet killed it. Definitely give it watch.
All Creatures Great and Small
Tumblr media
While not directly about women in the war, this show is one of my FAVORITES. It starts pre war and then goes into the war as the season move on. It's based on the book series that follow the adventures of James Herriot, a Scottish veterinary surgeon, who moves to Yorkshire in the 1930s/1940s. The women in this show are amazing. Helen runs her family farm. Mrs. Hall is the housekeeper but she basically runs everything and I adore her. You can see the homefront side of the war really well here.
The Land Girls (1998 film)
Tumblr media
The film is about three young women from very different walks of life join the Women's Land Army during World War II and are sent to work together on a farm in Dorset.
There's also a tv series about the WLA called Land Girls but I freaking hated that show. Way too many inaccuracies and the way the women are portrayed made me so angry. This movie is far from perfect but I liked it enough.
Home Fires
Tumblr media
Okay so I haven't watched Home Fires yet but my mom has and she's as into wwii women's history as I am and she said I absolutely should put this on the list.
Home Fires is about group of women living in a rural Cheshire village during World War II who face the challenges of the home front during the war including rationing, the dangers of German bombing, and their loved ones going off to war.
A League of Their Own (the tv series AND the original movie)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Watch both of these!! I love them both so much!! I'm still so mad the show was cancelled.
A League of Their Own is about the women who joined the All American Girls Professional Baseball League and both the movie and the show are excellent. I mean the movie is a classic and I love it but the tv series goes into aspects of the League that the movie never touched. Like the women of color who weren't allowed to join the league and instead joined the men's leagues. And the fact that a lot of the women in the league were lesbians.
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
Tumblr media
Based on a book, this movies is set in 1946. "A London-based writer begins exchanging letters with residents on the island of Guernsey, which was German-occupied during WWII. Feeling compelled to visit the island, she starts to get a picture of what it was like during the occupation." This movie is so good I cry every time. You get a look at life on the homefront and in a German occupied area. Lily James, Jessica Brown Findlay, Penelope Wilton, and Katherine Parkinson are all amazing and play such amazing female characters. Definitely watch it.
Charlotte Gray
Tumblr media
"A young Scottish woman joins the French Resistance during World War II to rescue her Royal Air Force boyfriend who is lost in France."
World on Fire
Tumblr media
This one is hard show to watch but it's soo good. And it goes into some really interesting aspect of women's history. You've got homefront, military, resistance. France, Britain, Germany. Allied. Axis. A lot of roles are shown and it's impressive.
A Call To Spy
Tumblr media
This movie is about the female members of the British SOE. Female spies! This one made me excited because the characters are Noor Inayat Khan, Virginia Hall, and Vera Atkins. Three real life female spies during the war.
So Proudly We Hail (1943)
Tumblr media
About US Army Nurses in the Pacific
Keep Your Powder Dry (1945)
Tumblr media
A debutante (Lana Turner), a serviceman's bride (Susan Peters) and a girl (Laraine Day) from a military family join the Women's Army Corps.
And now I'm gonna give two WW1 recs too:
Anzac Girls
Tumblr media
I adore this tv series so much. It's incredible. This is based on the Australian and New Zealand Army Nursing Service. Starts with their service in Egypt and then extends to France and the Greek Island Lemnos.
The Crimson Field
Tumblr media
This tv series focuses on the VADs and other medical personnel who served in the field hospitals. SO GOOD! Still bitter it was cancelled.
I know I'm missing something but I'll leave off there for now. If I think of more I'll let you know!!

are you doing momoharuweek 2024?
Hello, I apologize for the late reply!
Unfortunately we will not be able to run momoharu week this year. There's been a lot of other IRL responsibilities that have taken most of my focus and admittedly, being the sole mod working on this project has been rather stressful.
I would like to host it again, maybe next year. I'll make sure keep everyone updated if something happens again however.
In the meantime if you're interested, the Japanese fandom has a Momoharu Day on October 8th (10/08)!

I had a very specific whump idea in my head and I was wondering if you ever saw it. Character A is carrying an unconscious Character B and is about to put them down. Character A (or others on hand) cradles Character B's head as they're lowered so it doesn't hit the surface they're being laid on too hard.
Oh my god nonny that trope is SO GOOD!! I LOVE IT SO MUCH!! It should be used more often!! It's so soft and caring and I die every single time. I definitely have some examples of it.
My immediate thought is this scene in Merlin 2x06 after Arthur takes the potion to slow his heartbeat and breathing so it seems like he's dead. Like, I read this description you wrote and my brain conjured this moment.
Tumblr media
Other good moments:
Hawaii Five-0 10x22 Steve cradling Danny's head as he lowers him into his lap.
Tumblr media
Graceland 3x08 The whole team has a hand on Mike but Paige puts her hands behind his head as they lower him into the ice bath and i love it.
Tumblr media
The A-Team 5x14 Frankie and Murdock protecting his head as they carefully lower Face down to the ground after being shot.
Tumblr media
Stargate SG-1 4x18
Tumblr media
The Greatest Showman when PT lowers an unconscious Phillip to the ground after rescuing him from the fire and WD cradles his head
Tumblr media
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
Tumblr media
Avengers Endgame Nebula cradling the back of Tony's head as she lays him on the chair
Tumblr media
One Piece Live Action 1x06
Tumblr media
Supernatural 14x14 When Sam rolls Dean over he cradles the back of his head.

I see so many hindutva wadis arguing that caste system is a foreign concept and hinduism only had the varna system. As if the varna system was fair? Also isn't caste derived from the varna system? Like brahmins and Kshatriyas became upper castes, vaishyas became obc and shudra were dalits?
I had the impression that the caste system was the documentation of people who already belonged to the varna system. Do correct me if I'm wrong.
It's a little more complicated than that. Currently, we live under the jaati(or jāti) system broadly speaking. When people talk about the caste system in modern India, it is this system superimposed on the varna system that they are referring to. Functionally, the caste system now is a hybrid of the two systems.
The Varna system and the Jaati System are both systems of social hierarchy.
As everyone is already aware, under the varna system, the society is divided into four categories(i.e. brahmins, kshatriyas, vaishyas and shudras) which are hierarchical in nature and mentioned in the various ancient religious texts. Crucially important to this system is the existence of a fifth category, the untouchables(I assume you're already aware of the practice of untouchability) and the outsiders(often termed as "mlechhas", which is now a derogatory xenophobic{and casteist!} slur coming back into popular use thanks to the resurgence of regressive ideas under hindutva politics). These are important to mention because the marginalization of these people was based on them being an out-group i.e. not part of the varna system. People claim the varnas were mutable based on a handful of examples in said texts but I would like to point out that those examples are said to be exceptions rather than the rule.
The Jaati System would be more familiar to you in terms of lived experience. Under this system, society is divided into socio-ethnic endogamous groups or communities and each of the groups have different socio-economic standing in society. The practice of endogamy(marriage limited to within a social group) is important to this system as there is emphasis on one's birth. This is why people say that intermarriage is the most significant step towards dismantling the entire system, but I digress. Prior to the colonization of India, these groups worked on a purely social basis of privilege and exclusion. Villages and cities were(and still are!) segregated based on these jatis. One's occupation was defined by their birth as long as they lived in their specific society.
I would like to emphasize that this system existed and thrived even before the colonisers ever came knocking on the subcontinent's doors. We can find mentions of the system in the historical accounts of both people of the subcontinent and travellers from outside. A study of people's DNA by some scholars claims that the endogamous groups can be traced back to as far as the Gupta Empire(mid 3rd century to mid 6th century CE).
The assertion that the caste system is a purely colonial fabrication is absurd. People point to the term "caste" as being of foreign origin but the term "jaati" already existed and was in use. "Caste" is just another way of referring to jaatis.
Now on to some legitimacy hidden in the nonsensical claims, in the 1901 census of the subcontinent, the British bureaucracy fit the various jatis under the broad classification of the four varnas. It was not a clean fit, leaving many in an awkward position of having been classified wrongly. This is their fault. Not the construction of the system but rather the wrongful categorisation of it.
Officially, there are over 3,000 castes and 25,000 sub-castes in India. Take these numbers with a grain of salt because there are many unregistered castes and sub-castes to this day fighting their own battles of legal recognition.
The castes do not cleanly map onto the varnas. There are many castes who are in the upper strata of the hierarchy in one region and the lower strata in different regions. The system is incredibly nuanced and complex and our current legal systems have not caught up to the sophistication required to deal with it because of the people in power's adamant insistence of ignoring the system simply because they profit off of the oppression of others.
I don't want to add to the miscategorization but I feel like I should correct you on the fact that broadly speaking shudras are classified more under OBCs. (Please keep in mind that this not a clear category and there can be some castes who are said to be shudra who can be other categories as well.) There's much to be said about that because there's no distinction made between the land owner castes and the landless castes. And no, the creamy layer is not a good marker either.
There are some castes(1,108 of them to be exact) who were listed as scheduled castes(SC) in the Constitution of India for affirmative action. This was done to socially reform the country and help those in the marginalized sections of society to gain social mobility. The hope was to remove caste discrimination. As we know, it wasn't successful because caste discrimination still exists and caste based violence is on the rise again.
The term dalit is a contemporary word for the untouchable castes who were and are subjected to despicable discrimination in society.
The reason that I say that we now function under a hybrid of the two systems is that the superimposition of the varna system over the jaati system has been accepted and in many cases, embraced by the people now. You will find many a "upper caste" people proudly flaunting their Brahmin or kshatriya identities. The varna system is now interlinked with the jaati or the caste system whether we like it or not.
The system is complicated and fucked. We should get rid of it, guys. And with your help, you can make that dream a reality.
