Using ableton live 9
Tumblr media
USING ABLETON LIVE 9 PORTABLE
USING ABLETON LIVE 9 SOFTWARE
Once again, experimentation is required and it’s usually an idea to load the defaults for Pedal and Echo and start from there. Live 10 took a giant step with the addition of the Tuner, Pedal, and Echo effects (the Tuner is technically an effect, too) we have used all of these in real-world production situations. We don’t use these presets, but they’re good illustrations of what’s doable, especially when you look at the preconfigured macro controls and their labelling. In the walkthrough, we build a guitar rig from scratch, but there are plenty of presets to explore, for Amp and Cabinet individually, but also filed as racks under Amp Simulation in the Audio Effect Racks section of the Browser. It’s a small thing, but it was such a relief when Live got a tuner (incidentally, valuable for tuning samples as well)!
USING ABLETON LIVE 9 SOFTWARE
This used to be the weak link with amp-modelling software and hardware. It’s shocking how different they can sound – it’s not like using a guitar amp. When working on guitar sounds, perhaps more than any other, it’s important to alternate monitoring with headphones and monitors. If you’re likely to have a lot of music gear connected, then Live 10 allows you go into Preferences and name each audio input and output, which can make it faster to set up. You can use any audio interface that has an instrument input, although not all are created equal – you want a clean signal with plenty of gain, otherwise you’ll have to add external boosters which is kind of against the point. Use it to reproduce your current sound in a digital format, or blow the doors off and expand into entirely new sonic territory. Live 10 in particular has added features that make it easier than ever to run a fully functional computer guitar rig.
USING ABLETON LIVE 9 PORTABLE
It also makes for a fantastic portable mini-rig if you need to travel light or on a budget. You can put it to work for practice, performance, looping, control, and production, using it instead of, or alongside, your beloved hardware. Ableton Live has always versatile, and that’s just as true for guitarists and bass players as for synth heads or anybody else. However, a new generation of guitarists are far more comfortable with software, computers and mobile devices, so there’s no excuse for anyone to be a tech hold-out any longer. For a long time it seemed like guitarists were resisting using computers, and it’s actually quite easy to understand why.

#Ableton live 9 lite upgrade upgrade
Audio to MIDI = Makes the process of writing a melody fun and interesting Grouping of Grouped instruments = Makes tidy work of a project both visually and also for effects processing. Of course you probably wouldn't know how useful a feature is or not until you use it.īeen a while since I used L9 but some things that have been an improvement for me has been: I don't really miss features from 10 or 11 that I don't really know about yet. It would make sense and be fine if Ableton 11 was stable but it's a bit frustrating if the current version is half baked and poorly optimized.īottomline, I'm open to external feedback from people who actually know the difference between Ableton 9 and 11 first-hand and have maybe been in this situation before.
#Ableton live 9 lite upgrade upgrade
I saw in the shop that I can upgrade to Ableton 11 Suite for 200$ but upgrading to Ableton 10 doesn't seem to be an option. I was thinking of maybe just upgrading to Ableton 10. On the other hand, Ableton 9 is getting old and there are probably many cool features that would help me improve my workflow and build better habits. On top of this, reviews I have read about the performance management of Ableton 11, especially CPU usage range from "bad" to "disastrous" and I don't want to pay more for something that will limit me in my work / freeze / glitch more than a version that I already paid for years ago. On the one hand, all I know is Ableton 9 and I am pretty happy with it, so I don't really miss features from 10 or 11 that I don't really know about yet. I have been working on Ableton 9 for a few years now and since I am about to change my computer and would like to "start fresh", I am wondering if it's worth upgrading to Ableton 11 as well.

Push Ups - New song “Rosary” interview ★
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- Ableton
Cap'n Jazz、Get Up Kids、Elliott Smith、Beatles

Push Ups - New song “Rosary” interview ★
---------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
★Please tell us about the concept, production and recording of the new single .
- We recorded an EP with Aron Kobayashi-Ritch, from the band Momma, back in November. And Preston from Momma also played drums on the recordings. This song, Rosary, was inspired by my friends. I love my friends, my real friends, and they keep me grounded. They give me hope.
★what does your creative process look like ?
Do you have any specific ritual ?
- I usually just start an idea on Ableton, always with a guitar first. I usually write the whole song on guitar, structure it out, and then come with the lyrics/melodies last.
Tumblr media
★who are your musical influences?
- for this EP I was listening to a lot of Cap'n Jazz, the Get Up Kids, Elliott Smith, and the Beatles. The guitar work on "Rosary" was really inspired by At the Drive-In.
★can you tell me about your personal history?
I moved around a lot growing up. I lived in California, Oregon, Chicago, New York, and Shanghai. China was the worst. I'm 1/2 Chinese, and I love being Chinese, but I don't like China very much at all.
★how did You come to make music ?
- When I was 9, my friends in elementary school wanted to start a band. I had just watched the movie "School of Rock" and was inspired to learn guitar after seeing kids my age shred on-screen.
★how do you feel about the scenes around you ?
- I feel like there's many different scenes happening in New York. As a new band, we're trying to figure out where we fit in. Wether that's merging into a scene or starting our own, I can't say. But that all starts with playing shows, which we have planned, but haven't done yet.
Tumblr media
★Are there any Japanese artists you listen to ?
- My favorite Japanese artists are Tujiko Noriko, Boris, and Supercar.
★What are your current/dream goals for the upcoming ?
- Goals for this year are finishing a 2nd EP for October/November, play shows this Summer on the West Coast, and maybe play a show in Tokyo.

Just made my first song in FL after using Live 11 for a while. I decided to buy FL instead of upgrading my Ableton Live lite to any other version, why? FL with the black Friday discount is cheaper and Live 12 tbh feels underwhelming. I used FL when I was a kid, probably used FL 9, I remember trying to follow SeamlessR videos, but now that I watched some of those, I quickly realized I didn't understand anything at all. Thanfually now I have more experience and also I'm studying at an academy. Anyways, I got used again to FL pretty quick, it's pretty easy to work with, compared to cubase, which I feel I was just using it wrong the whole time and it was made for my workflow. The new cloud and AI features are amazing also so I'm pretty happy with FL.
I will upload tomorrow a video of the Lo-Fi song I just made with it.

monday - tuesday
9/23-24/24
going to mess around in ableton for a bit... then sleep.
i watched a movie today... splice. it was basically very bad but made me feel ill and anxious, because i'd seen it when i was a kid i suppose, well that's why i watched it, cuz i know it messed me up as a kid a bit, i was like 11 when i saw it, anyhow, i remembered adrien brody dying and thinking it was pretty how afraid he was, or like, how fucked up everything he was, that his death was like this nightmare-catharsis thing almost, like, things get maximally bad, you bottom out, disappear, life gets too bad so you evaporate or something, also obv erotic, but the movie makes that point more clear cuz of the whole pseudo incest stuff... grody... but kind of good, or like, it's fun how horrific it is, and funny sometimes. but it's also profoundly stupid. it's also like, a period piece to a freakish degree, of that time, 2009, or like 07-09, that sector, look at this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
really funny to me. also very good, tobehonest, a good look. (the tokidoki figures are very cute,,, funny how that is all on trend now).
i just made a guitar sound i really like, i think part of why i'm so frustrated is that the sounds i'm making are too... layered maybe? so simpler is better... i wonder if this sound i just made will be good to replace one of the songs i'm having trouble with. it could beee. that'd be exciting.
here's another shot i like:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i #really #really like blood... what can i say.
this one is just funny:
Tumblr media
anyway, today i did work on the soundtrack, i need to write one more song out... that last one will be tough but i should be able to figure something out, the idea i tried out today was just un-musical, there wasn't a compelling root, to it, so i need to give myself some kind of foundation to work from, i think a bass drone to begin that one, i should just focus on that.
i also did edit... a bit.
then i did work on music later in the day, my stuff, after watching splice and cooking... got obsessed with this new hellp leak as well:
i'm thinking maybe this new guitar sound will help me figure out how to fix the songs i'm struggling with, if it's not gonna replace the sounds in them, it might in one... with some extra stuff thrown on it to make it freakier or something. but it's a hard balance to maintain... i ought to mess w/ modulating resonant peaks pre distortion for that kind of grody sound.
i'll be another dead deer on the roaaaaaaaaaaaa-oaaaaaaaaaad.
wow, the new chat pile song is probably one of their best i've heard, i don't normally care that much for them, they're okay, but not the best, but this one's cool, it's got this really spidery weird guitar line:
youtube
not much else to put down,
so,

Top 10 Must-Have Audio Equipment for Professional Studios
Setting up a professional studio is an exciting journey, but it can also be overwhelming with so many choices out there. To help you get started, we've compiled a list of the top 10 must-have audio equipment for a professional studio. These essentials will ensure you have everything you need to create high-quality recordings.
1. Audio Interface
An audio interface is the heart of your studio. It connects your microphones, instruments, and other audio gear to your computer. Look for one with multiple inputs and outputs, high-quality preamps, and good digital-to-analog conversion.
2. Studio Monitors
Studio monitors are speakers designed for accurate sound reproduction. Unlike regular speakers, they don't color the sound, allowing you to hear your recordings as they truly are. Popular brands include KRK, Yamaha, and JBL.
3. Microphones
A good selection of microphones is crucial. Start with a large-diaphragm condenser mic for vocals and a dynamic mic for instruments. Brands like Shure, Audio-Technica, and Rode offer excellent options.
Tumblr media
4. Headphones
Closed-back headphones are essential for tracking, as they prevent sound from leaking into the microphone. Open-back headphones are better for mixing and provide a more natural sound. Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, and Sony are top choices.
 5. Digital Audio Workstation (DAW)
A DAW is software that lets you record, edit, and mix your music. Popular DAWs include Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, and Ableton Live. Choose one that fits your workflow and budget.
Tumblr media
6. MIDI Controller
A MIDI controller allows you to play and record virtual instruments. It's a must-have for composing and producing music. Look for models with responsive keys and assignable knobs and pads. Akai, M-Audio are reliable brands.
7. Preamps
Preamps boost the signal from your microphones and instruments to a usable level. While most audio interfaces have built-in preamps, standalone units often provide better sound quality. Brands like Focusrite,  PreSonus are well-regarded.
8. Acoustic Treatment
Good acoustic treatment helps control sound reflections and reduces unwanted noise. Start with bass traps, acoustic panels, and diffusers. This will improve the accuracy of your recordings and mixes.
9. Cables
High-quality cables are essential for a clean signal path. Invest in sturdy, well-shielded cables to connect your microphones, instruments, and monitors. Mogami, Hosa are trusted brands.
Tumblr media
10. Pop Filter
A pop filter is a simple but effective tool that reduces plosive sounds (like "p" and "b") when recording vocals. It ensures cleaner recordings and protects your microphone from moisture.
Building a professional studio requires investment in the right gear. Start with these ten essentials to ensure you have a solid foundation. There are many shops like VIP PRO AUDIO in Brooklyn which stocks all the essential audio equipment's consider visiting such shops to gain valuable insights. Remember, quality equipment can make a significant difference in your recordings, helping you achieve professional results. Happy recording!

...whilst sat in an unconverted dusty dusty attic... the makeshift desktop setup.
Ableton Live 12 already on the verge of being rolled out?!!
I already dropped a stack on an Ableton 11 activation having used some form of pirated version with each new update and release of it since version 4 of Ableton live, and my Ableton laptop machine has been running infinitely smoother for it since with far less anomalous glitches (such as abnormally high CPU loads, erratic CPU load spikes, and fluctuations, entire project files going missing, at times even entire batches of project files, however, subtle modifications appear to be still happening to my projects when I come back to work on, or review saved projects that I'd made previously, even after only a few minutes to a few hours, which I guess are actually useful more than annoying this time round 🤔...but that's besides the point, since adding pressure variance to a laid down midi drum pattern/sequence is something I could have easily done myself). Thousands of projects later, the past 16 years of constant issues in some form with it has been quite, an ordeal when looking back having just thought about it properly just now.
I'm not running anything fancy hardware-wise, since its a second hand bought Dell Latitude 5491 running on an 8th generation Intel i7 8850H, and 16GB of RAM. Yeah, significantly well behind the 14th generation Intel curve, and most certainly well behind Apple's M1 for performance, let alone the vastly more capable M2, or M3! It's like a constant uphill struggle trying to streamline my Latitude 5491 machine, and keep it running smoothly, and fast, where I have to keep tweaking, and checking it constantly under the hood, which does make me seriously consider considering getting a Macbook Pro for the first time ever, which I've been trying to avoid doing doing to the insane cost of it. Additionally a fair number of the windows updates seem to constantly impact on system performance, and undo a lot of the performance improvement tweaks for my windows laptop DAW, which I don't have anything installed to other than Ableton live 11.
However word has it that version 12 of Ableton Live is imminent (which will no doubt probably be just in time for the release of windows 12 too), not but a month after myself finally personally getting a legit full version of Live 11 suite... Great 😵‍💫. Apparently it's got a bunch of new generative features for creating melodies, as well as some new interface tweaks, and some new colour scheme options. I doubt that I'll be personally moving over to 12, unless someone's willing to send me a copy of it, or I come into money, as it's still a wince inducing 700 to 750 quid for the full suite version when 12 finally lands. Since having used a legit version, of Ableton Live, I can't believe how much better it runs overall than the various pirated versions I've used, with far less project run issues, and at lower CPU loads too, I guess I'll see in the coming months if that remains constant, and hopefully it should fix all the screw ups, and project file anomalies on all my created, and saved projects that I'd encountered during the past 15 years too from here on out.
In any case aside from that, within the interim, anyone with a legit registered copy of version 9, 10, or 11 can sign up for the beta of 12 via the Ableton website, although acceptance for the Ableton live 12 beta testing program is an entirely different matter I guess.
I'd even suggest getting a pirated copy of 12 for testing if you can get a hold of one, although I wouldn't personally recommend doing all your serious work in it at this stage if you do. The only problem with doing that though is that Ableton tend to sneak in features in their new builds versions that do generally become indispensable once you incorporate it into you project/music creation workflow, which is why I won't be using 12 seriously until I have some means of actually running a full legit copy of 12 at this stage.
