All week, your mind has been preoccupied since that lesson. You have fleeting moments when you remember the feeling of him holding you close; his hot breath against you, the sound of his grunts in your ear every time he thrusted into you. Tingles rush around you, your breath falters and you feel dizzy just at the thought of it. All damn week it’s been like this.
Earlier that week, after receiving a text from him, a confirmation of when the next lesson would be, you couldn’t resist counting down the days. The temptation to text back was too great.
“I look forward to it ; ) xx” The little speech bubble appears in the text conversation after sending it. Only for it to be left on read. He’s a man of few words… obviously, you think to yourself.
It’s the day of the lesson! Your heart palpitates, sending an ache of nervous excitement to your stomach. As you get ready, you make sure you put on your favourite lacy, red underwear this time, no tights though - if last week is anything to go by, they won’t survive today. Over the top of your raunchy number, you cool things down with a simple tight black dress. You bought it especially for this week's lesson. The hem is longer on one side, coming down to a point. Its figure hugging design is sure to show off your beautiful curves.
Taking your favourite perfume bottle, you spritz it a few times in the air and let the scent-filled droplets rain down on you, tingling and kissing your hair and skin. Red lipstick paints your lips. Eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara emphasises the colour of your eyes. You don’t bother with blusher, you’ll be doing plenty of that later naturally…
This week, you make sure you leave with plenty of time to get there. Making sure you get as much time as possible with him. That nervous excitement is still ever present in the pit of your stomach as you leave your home.
Your heart is pounding with anticipation and you’ve only just arrived in the street the dance studio is on. If it’s thumping hard in your chest now, you dread to think how it will feel when you see him in a few minutes' time.
Just like last week, you press the buzzer and wait for a response. This time however, no loud car horn sounded the moment that velvety voice spoke to you through the speaker. Just hearing him makes you squeeze your legs together. You reply to announce your arrival, then you hear the door click open.
The sound of your Cuban heels knocking on the hard wood of the studio floor as you enter makes your teacher, Miguel, look up from his phone. He leans against a counter, waiting for you to arrive after allowing you into the building. His eyes wander over your frame, taking in your curves. This time he’s in a silky, dark blue shirt, and in a similar pair of trousers to last week. Biting your lip hard, you try to suppress the naughty thoughts that arise in your mind.
“You’re early this time,” Miguel comments flatly as he stands up.
As he stands at his full height, you’re suddenly reminded of how tall he is as you tilt your head up to look at his expressionless face. To you, he’s a mystery. His cold, detached attitude, a puzzle to solve. He is capable of emotion though, but only when he’s smug or in the middle of hot, passionate sex. You squeeze your legs together again. The throbbing in your core has already begun.
Clearing your throat you prepare yourself to answer. “I wanted to make sure I was on time,” you reply as you watch his eyes wander over your visage.
“Hmm…” he hummed in a half amused manner as he raised his hand to your face. His thumb gently ran along your ruby red lower lip, pressing firmly as he dragged it along. The heat of his touch ignites a chain reaction within you. Tingles spreading all over your body, your lungs drawing a sharp intake of breath and your core approaching imminent meltdown. Finally he pulls his hand away looking at his thumb, checking to see if your lipstick came off with his touch. Nothing. His gaze landed back on you again as he idly rubbed the pads of his index finger and thumb together.
“You know, that’s not necessary…” Miguel mumbles, his intense stare locking onto you.
“What isn’t necessary?” you ask as your brows furrow together, thinking you have done something wrong.
“This…” he responds, raising his hand once more, dragging his thumb along your lipstick again. “You don’t need it.”
He notices your concerned expression after he speaks. The corners of his lips curl slightly into a subtle smirk. Leaning in closer, he begins to whisper, causing your breath to falter as you feel his warm breath against the side of your face and neck.
“I’ll just have to kiss it all off later…”
Meltdown! It takes everything in your power not to groan there and then, you manage to stop yourself by biting your lip. This doesn’t go unnoticed by Miguel… His smirk grows.
Sliding his phone out of his pocket, he taps the screen to select some music to begin the lesson - before he felt too tempted to take you roughly and fuck you senseless.
The sexy and teasing musical notes begin to caress your ears. Just like last week, he takes you before you’re ready and leads you swiftly to the dance floor. Having you so close to him, he picks up on your perfume. An urge to bury his face against your neck and sniff you deeply; taking in that delicious, sweet scent you put on just for him infiltrates his mind. He finds it cute that you wanted to make an effort for him, but it wasn’t necessary, you are perfect as you are.
Your hand is enveloped in his left, while your other is placed on his shoulder. Miguel was once again a powerful wall, driving you, moving you, creating beautiful and sexy shapes with you, reminding you of the basic steps once more. He twirls you under his arm, directing you through your ochos and leading you through those tight giros.
“Good; you remembered the basics…” he compliments you as he guides you through a simple routine he put together for you to learn with him.
You don’t want to tell him you’ve practised all week.
“Thank you.” You can’t help but give a sweet smile and squee internally, you’re impressing him, even though his expression doesn’t exactly show it.
Once again you enjoy the comfort of his body against yours. It surprises you just how much you missed his inviting warmth and the captivating scent of his bergamot scented cologne. A steady pulsing sensation begins emanating from your core to between your legs. Your arousal, threatening to make its slick presence known.
The music of the warm up dance eventually ends, he pauses the next music track and looks at you before taking you back in hold. This feeling will never get old, him just taking you in his arms in a silent, demanding manner.
“I want to talk about ganchos (hooks). Have you heard of them?” Miguel asks as his hold on you is firm but gentle. His blank expression, unwavering as his stare bores into your soul.
Shaking your head, you keep your eyes on him. Your fingers idly play with the material of his silky smooth shirt or gently knead his trapezius muscle as he begins to explain. He seems to pretend not to notice the physical attention you’re giving him.
“A gancho is a hooking motion that both partners in the dance can do. It’s a sharp and sudden movement with their leg around their partner’s before straightening again. Like normal; I lead, and when my leg slides between yours, that’s when you hook your leg around mine.” As he explains to you, his warmth is felt between your legs as he demonstrates the move, making your breath falter.
His hand on your back slips down to above your hip, gripping you slightly to manipulate your movement. He turns you, causing the back of your right leg to come into contact with his.
“Now; hook,” he commands you almost in a stern manner.
Bending your knee, your lower leg hooks and wraps around his. Feeling his hand press against your back, you can tell he’s turning you again to your normal position in front of him. If last week’s dancing wasn’t intimate enough, this week it certainly is. You found yourself enjoying this move, and you’re not disappointed that he wants to try it more with you.
“Keep going; good,” he mumbles, but something is starting to steal his attention…
With his hand pressed on your lower back, during each turn he makes you do, the material of your lacy underwear is felt through your dress. Mierda… he thinks to himself as he feels an all too familiar stirring under his trousers. His mind runs wild with ideas and fantasies.
Every turn, every hook; you feel a certain kneading with his fingers over your pantyline. Looking up at him you see his hungry, enticing brown eyes lock onto yours.
“What have you got under there, hmm?” he purrs at you before running his hand over your ass and squeezing firmly, pulling you against him while his leg is wedged between yours.
You squeal as he kneads your ass harder. Here comes the full on blush you predicted earlier… Especially when you feel a hot throbbing sensation coming from between his narrow hips.
“¿Un regalo para mi?” (A gift for me?) he asks in a whisper, a small smile growing on his face.
His hand tantalisingly slides even lower to the back of your left leg, slowly pulling it upwards, making you lean against him. Your breath hitches when your raised knee comes to rest over the top of his thigh. He finally releases your right hand and wraps his left around you. His long, strong fingers firmly squeeze your thigh pressed against him, letting out a low growl as he feels your hips press on his hardened shaft, cruelly and painfully trapped tightly under his clothes.
“No tights today?” he chuckles, “I hope I didn’t destroy your only pair…” A devilish smirk graced his lips.
Your blush deepens as your face grows hotter.
Lowering his head, he closes his eyes and sniffs your hair deeply, enjoying the sweet smell of your perfume. Another low, possessive growl fills the air while you both feel more needy throbs between you.
“You smell so good; so sweet… good enough to eat…” he murmurs seductively into your ear, sending shivers down your spine.
“M-Miguel…” you murmur as your body shudders with anticipation and steadily increasing arousal.
“Shhh (Y/N)... You’ll enjoy this, I promise,” he whispers back to you right in your ear, spreading tingles around your body like a raging wildfire.
His other hand moves across your back, fingers gripping the side of your head and gently tilting it so he can access your neck. Breathing in deeply, he smells your perfume before kissing your soft skin. Pleasure erupts all around your body as you close your eyes and moan sweetly for him. He has you locked in his grasp, right where he wants you. Your moans become more intense as you feel his kisses turn into teasing nibbles and then hungry bites.
Feeling weightless for a moment, he lifts you with ease; his hands cradling you under your ass as he carries you. Lips locking in a passionate, hungry kiss before he places you gently on a countertop. The cool surface presses against your skin. Excitement rose within him, he was eager to see what you were hiding underneath your sexy black dress of yours.
With fumbling hands, the hem of your dress shimmy up your thighs until you hear a gasp. Before him was a feast for his eyes and soon his mouth.
“Ay, hermosa…” he mutters under his breath while his fingers lovingly caress the alluring lace covering the area he so desperately wants to taste.
A triumphant smirk grows across your pretty red lips, you can’t help it. His reaction to your raunchy number is everything you hoped for. But his hands continue to lift your dress, he wants to see all of you. The look on his face tells a story of pure arousal, hunger and need.
It all goes dark momentarily as the dress is pulled completely off.
“Fuck…” he groans needily as he takes in the sight of your matching underwear.
The highly tempting, rosy red lace cradling your breasts and wrapping teasingly around your hips and between your legs.
“Muy bonita…” he whispers in your ear as his fingers slowly creep around your back and tease at the clasp of your bra.
The expression on Miguel’s face looks as though all his Christmases have come at once - probably the most emotion you have ever seen from this man! Unhooking the clasps on your bra, the tension around your chest releases while his lips tantalisingly graze your neck making your breath falter. The cool air greets your breasts and goosebumps erupt on your skin as his hot lips travel lower to your collarbone.
“I want to taste every inch of you, cariño…” His voice is barely above a whisper as he travels even lower.
Tender kisses and licks peppered your breasts before he sucks your nipple and rolls the other between his finger and thumb, pinching and pulling slightly. A moan fills the air, spilling from your parted lips. Your head tilts back at the delightful sensations that his talented mouth brings you. Raising your hand, your fingers play with his handsome dark brown curls at the back of his head.
Your nipple suddenly feels cold the moment his lips leave it. Travelling even lower still, his tongue trails teasingly down your stomach as his fingers pluck at the elastic of your lacy underwear, preparing to slide them down your thighs. Lifting your hips up slightly, you allow him to pull them off completely. His hands return to spread your legs wide. You hear a soft groan at the sight of you.
“I’m hungry for you, hermosa,” he continues to whisper, his breath quivering slightly.
You bite your lip and close your eyes the instant you feel his tongue flick and tease at your clit. His strong, warm hands restrain your already shaking legs, gripping tightly around your thighs as he tastes you. The air fills with moans from you both.
“So, so, so good,” he mumbles as he teases you more, swirling, flicking his tongue and then sealing his lips around your sensitive bundle of nerves.
A sudden yelp of pleasure echoes around the studio from you as he starts to suck and groan, sending delightful vibrations through you. Your body tenses, straightening your tingling back at the delicious sensation. Letting go of one of your thighs, his index and middle fingers tease at your entrance before slowly delving deeper. He feels your body react to his additional touch.
You spent all week fantasising and wondering how he was going to make you cum today, and now you know. Whether he intends to or not, his talented mouth and tongue is getting you close already. A zipper is heard after he releases your other thigh and undoes his trousers. You hear and feel him moan against you as finally releases his cock from its painful prison. His whole body shakes slightly as he pumps his hard shaft in his hand, leaning over the counter, lips and tongue continuing to work hard on you.
Your body tenses suddenly as his fingers press firmly against your g-spot, moving in a come hither motion, generating another loud moan from your throat. He senses you’re close, if his mouth wasn’t busy, he’d be grinning wickedly at you, watching you come undone for him. He feels your walls clench around his fingers as he thrusts them harder and faster.
“Come on my hand, cariño,” he grunts as he presses his mouth firmly against your clit.
Riding out each movement of your writhing body and listening to your gasps and lusty moans, he pushes you over the edge. Sending you into oblivion.
“Oh!! Miguel!”
“Good girl,” he mumbles as you cum, his fingers feeling each clench and wave your orgasm puts you through.
Your climax gradually ebbs away, he tries to draw it out as long as possible before your body begins to jolt with overstimulation. His fingers slowly leave your highly aroused and wet pussy as his lips release your now swollen clit.
Watching him intently as he leans over you, he kisses you again, the taste of you on his lips. His fingers slowly unfasten his shirt buttons, gradually revealing his perfectly defined torso and abs. You spy a soft happy trail leading down into his boxers. The enticing heat emanating from him causes you to melt against the wall and the countertop. His breath hitches as he feels your dainty fingertips stroke and tease the contours of his chest. Muscles tighten at your delicate touch as he moans against your lips.
Pushing his hips further forward, the tip of his cock teases your glistening entrance.
“I’ve waited all week for this,” he purrs after breaking the kiss.
“Are you ready for me to take you?”
He watches you as you nod enthusiastically, listening to you pant with pleasure and anticipation. How he longed to feel you wrap around him again and make you cry out in ecstasy.
Slowly, delicately and exquisitely, he enters you. Taking all the time in the world. His hardened, throbbing length fills you inch by inch. Moans fill the air as both your fantasies that have occupied your minds all week finally become reality.
With every sensual thrust, you watch his beautifully defined chest and abdominal muscles flex. With his hands leaning against the counter either side of you, his looming frame cages you. You’re not going anywhere until he’s done - not like you really want to, you’re on cloud nine watching him fuck you. Especially when his face is the perfect depiction of pure pleasure. His full, kissable lips parted allowing his grunts to escape with ease. Eyes half closed; the sensation of your tight pussy wrapping around him is overwhelming, but the desire to keep his gaze on you is still going strong.
“Ay Dios, you’re so tight! You’re making it hard for me not to empty myself into you now- fuck!” He pauses his thrusts; his hot, pulsing cock stills inside you as he holds back his impending orgasm.
The moment he stops, you instinctively clench on him, desperate to keep him there. You give a pleading moan; the need to feel him pounding into you harder is growing stronger with every passing second.
“Cariño, hush, please,” he begs as the pressure of the nearly bursting dam of ecstasy eases.
“You’ll get more. Don’t worry, hermosa,” he promises between heavy pants as his hands compensate you by stroking delicately up and down your body.
“Brace yourself, (Y/N),” Miguel warns you as his left hand finds a nipple, squeezing it and tugging it, while his right finds your clit. He’s ready to start again.
Planting one hand on the countertop, and the other atop his shoulder, you prepare for the main event. You know he’s going to go hard.
Slowly you feel his delicious warmth resume sliding in and out of you again. His thumb starts to rub your sensitive bud in tight exquisite circles. The gentle but firm pinching and tugging sensation on your nipple is the cherry on top. You moan again, unable to resist closing your eyes.
“You should know by now cariño, that I like you looking at me,” he says sternly between grunts as he thrusts harder. “Every time you close those beautiful eyes of yours-” grunt, “I’ll stop.”
Prizing your heavy eyelids open again, you watch his godlike body pumping into you, harder and harder.
“Good-“ grunt, “girl...” He thrusts harder still. “Such a good girl…” Miguel praises you through gritted teeth and a quivering breath.
Each powerful pump driving into you rocks your world. Pushing deep inside you, massaging your sensitive g-spot with every in and out motion. He watches you struggle to keep still on the countertop, his left hand releases your hardened nipple and wraps around your back, giving you extra support.
His close proximity as he holds you makes you melt further. You can help it, your eyelids flutter shut…
Miguel stops everything abruptly, making you cry out, your eyes snapping wide open again.
“What did I say, cariño?” he reminds you, panting heavily.
You give him an indignant glare.
A wicked smirk tugs at the corners of his lips and a mischievous gleam shines in his eyes. He enjoys teasing you, watching that mournful face of yours each time he stops.
He resumes once more, no warming up this time. Straight back with the intensity he stopped at, pounding into you hard and fast. His smirk grows wider, watching your shockfilled face as you try to process his intense thrust, and his firm massaging of your clit. Watching you trying everything in your might to not close your eyes again.
The shock soon subsides and you feel nothing but pure pleasure. While he’s nice and deep inside you, you watch him as he requests. You watch as every thrust makes his unfastened shirt flap open wider, teasing a better view of what’s underneath. You watch his face carrying a soft but passionate expression, focusing on you and trying not to cum too early.
The rhythmic sound of his hips slapping into yours fills the room as he speeds up and pumps harder too. Followed by his growling grunts, heavy breathing and your lusty, pleasure filled moans.
You beg him for more to which he gladly complies. The familiar, delicious clenching sensation around his cock indicates that you’re close to your second orgasm. The needy look on your face only backs up that fact.
Tension and heat builds between you both. Swiftly, Miguel pulls his shirt off completely and throws it to the floor, not caring where it goes. Everything on his top half is out on display. His body ripples like waves lapping against the sand on a beach as he fucks you. Then he leans down towards you to whisper in your ear.
“Cum for me, hermosa…” he purrs in your ear. “I want to-“ grunt, “feel you clench on me…”
“Yes!” It felt like a switch had been turned on at his words.
The tingles return, the involuntary clenching has begun again and more of your arousal oozes out with the help of his strong thrusts.
“Miguel!” you squeal as you come undone for him a second time. He watches your face intently, making sure you don’t close your eyes, not even for a second while you climax.
“Good girl…” You hear him praise you before he sucks air in through his gritted teeth. “Now it’s my turn…”
Standing up straight, he releases his grip around your back but takes hold of you behind your knees, spreading you wide for him. You place your hand against the wall above your head to brace yourself. This is going to be wild.
He thinks you look beautiful; all open wide for him, bracing yourself against the wall. It truly is a sight to behold watching himself enter you and spying your arousal pooling underneath your ass on the counter.
Miguel finds it unbelievable, just how wet he makes you. However, you would find it just as unbelievable if you knew how many times the memory of last week’s lesson made him cum in his hand or against his towel-covered pillow. Or even how he will now add this moment to his growing collection of memories to look back on when he’s feeling lonely or horny.
“Touch me - please…” he begs you, longing to feel your fingertips teasing his abs.
Reaching forward and placing your free hand on him. His blazing hot skin comes into contact with your outstretched digits after every pounding action. His stomach is firm as his abdominal muscles work overtime.
A sudden tensing in his balls indicates it’s time as he carries on his punishing thrusts.
“I’m gonna cum, cariño- fuck!” He pulls out suddenly as he seizes his cock, drenched in your arousal and pumps furiously with his hand. A shaky, deep moan fills the studio as you both watch thick hot ropes of cum spurt out and land on your stomach. He grunts with each deep, tingling throb from his shaft and balls.
As his climax subsides; he hums in delight at the view, still slowly massaging his cock, dragging the tip along your beautiful skin making sure you wear every drop.
“White looks good on you (Y/N). You should wear it more often.” He winks at you with a devilish grin.
“Is that an invitation, Miguel?” you ask before biting your lip, your gaze firmly locked onto his.
He chuckles slightly. “It’s whatever you want it to be, (Y/N) - Let me clean you up.”
Miguel steps away as you watch him stow his content and softened length back in his boxers and zips up his trousers. Eventually he returns with plenty of tissue to clean you up. As he does so, you feel his gentle brushes against your skin, getting rid of his mess. His eyes flit up to yours occasionally as you stay still, leaning against the wall while sitting on the counter.
“I’m only charging you for half of these lessons. Seeing as a large portion of each class has had us doing a different kind of tango…” he says he throws the last of the dirty tissue away and hands you your pretty lingerie.
“Thank you,” you reply, finding yourself surprised at the gesture.
Sliding off of the counter, you begin to get back into your clothes as he picks up his shirt from the floor.
“You’re actually pretty good at dancing the tango,” he begins as he slides his arm through a sleeve while you put your bra back on.
“But I think from now on, classes should be strictly dancing.”
You look up at him with a furrowed brow, a look of concern flashes across your face. Has he had his fill with you already? Does he not want you any more?
“Oh, I see,” you lie, trying to hide the disappointment in your voice.
However Miguel smirks at you.
“The rampant sex can be reserved for dates, right?”
To say your heart fluttered at his words would be an understatement. You gasp as an excited smile breaks across your face. While still in just your underwear, you bound over to him and hug him tightly, your sudden affection stunning him. The inviting warmth of his arms gently wraps around your middle as he returns your embrace.
“I’ll take that as a yes, cariño?” he asks with a slight chuckle.
“Si, Miguel. Por favor,” (Yes, Miguel. Please,) you reply sweetly in Spanish.
Miguel pats your head in the most affectionate way he can manage.
“Very cute…” he comments.
For the rest of the session, Miguel helps you get your dress back on and goes over a few more steps with you wearing a small smile on his face.
That evening you come home with two entries to put into your diary; your next lesson and your first date with Miguel…

[ID: Two pictures of Pecan, a pale person in a tank top, leggings, and an AFO, sitting in two wheelchairs, one silver folding frame and one green rigid frame. Along the top of the image is the text "Comparing Wheelchairs, Off-the-Shelf Folding Frame vs. Custom Rigid." End ID.]
In this post I'm going to compare several images of my custom rigid frame wheelchair (Quickie QRi) and my mid-end off-the-shelf folding frame (Karman Ergo s115)! You're welcome to just look at the images, though I'll also be explaining why the differences are there as I go along. I'll also be explaining why those changes work for me, and why they don't work for others, as well as why many find that a rigid wheelchair works better than a folding wheelchair (but not all!).
All differences to notice are in blue, making it easy to skip the explanations.
[ID: Two pictures of Pecan's wheelchairs side by side. In the first image both chairs are empty, and in the second Pecan is sitting in both. The green chair has blue push rims and rainbow spokes, while the silver chair has some black spokes. End ID.]
Here's the side by side without me in them. Off the bat I'll note a few key things about my Quickie QRi that are not standard for it - I added silicone push rim covers (the blue), colored the spokes (rainbow up front, black in the back), added frog leg caster forks, and you can see my smart drive dial on the front of the frame. I'm adding a section at the end where I explain my reasoning for all of that.
The things to notice here:
The Karma chair (Karma from here) is much taller, has a much taller back of the seat, has much bigger caster wheels, and has a lot more to its frame than the Quickie.
The axle of the wheels on the Karma is directly under the seat, while its several inches further forward on the Quickie.
Though subtle, the Karma has a slight difference in height from the front of the seat to the back - the Quickie has a more noticeable one (though it's still small) - this is called "dump."
The high backing to Karma makes it more accessible to people with different reasons for using a chair - I have very few positioning needs so I keep the back rest on my Quickie as low as it can get. When I was using my Karma more consistently I would keep the back folded down in "transport position" to keep it lower. This is because it's helpful for me to have my shoulders as free as possible for more powerful pushes, but for people with greater positioning needs, the back of my Quickie (and the back of my Karma) could or would be too low to provide enough support for them to use the chair at all.
The different sizes of caster wheel are more "pros and cons" than "better or worse." The huge caster wheels of the Karma meant that it can go off of the sidewalk, over grass, mud, dirt, and gravel, or other difficult surfaces with very little trouble. However, they make tight turns/maneuverability much more difficult, while the tiny casters that I have on the Quickie are great for tight turns and responsiveness, but I have to hold myself in a wheelie any time I go off of pavement. I'm great at wheelies - someone who isn't would benefit from bigger casters unless they never go off of smooth surfaces.
The axle of the wheels effects the center of gravity for the wheelchair user. The closer it is to the front of the chair, the easier it is for the chair to flip backwards (and the easier it is to reach the pushrims). Wheelies in my Karma gave me extremely strong abdominal muscles and many wheelchair users I've talked to have been surprised anyone can wheelie in them at all. In my Quickie, if I'm going up a ramp my casters might leave the ground unless I lean forward, but wheelies are a breeze. The placement of the axles in relation to the user are a balancing game between wheel accessibility and user balance.
The greater dump on my Quickie makes me feel more "in" the chair and helps me feel less fatigued while using my chair - for others it can help with minor positioning needs. Here's a better and more detailed explanation.
[ID: A picture with Pecan sitting side by side in both the Karma and the Quickie wheelchairs. The Karma has a patch on the back that says "Be kind do good." End ID.]
Things to notice:
The dramatic difference in back heights
The gap between the back and the bottom of the seat on the Karma vs the lack of it on the Quickie
The X frame of the Karma vs the solid bar on the Quickie
The push handles on the Karma vs the lack on the Quickie (though it does have a rigidizing bar)
Here's a better look at how different the back heights are - on the Karma it ends halfway up my shoulder blades, while on the Quickie it ends almost below them. I already explained it above but I feel it's worth mentioning here!
On my Karma, there's a gap between the seat and the back upholstery. I honestly do not know why this is but I can vouch for the fact that my cushions tended to fall out from under me - you can see the gray cells of my cheap air cushion. The upholstery of the back of my Quickie sticks with velcro to the bottom of the chair, making it a smooth seam.
This gives a great view of how much more frame there is on my Karma vs my Quickie. The X frame is what allows the Karma to fold - while making it much heavier. The solid tube under my Quickie houses my wheel axles and also takes up much less space, at the cost of making it less transportable than the Karma (which folds into a little square - less space than Drive or Invacare wheelchairs make when folded, one of the reasons it's "mid tier").
There's a ten pound difference between the chairs, and the vast majority of that is explained by the extra frame that the Karma needs to function. Lighter chairs are easier to both transport and push!
Lastly, my Karma has push handles, while my Quickie does not. I am pretty physically strong, and extremely independent - and I have trauma from people pushing me without permission. Because of this I chose to omit push handles on my custom chair. On my Karma, they're welded into place. You can get fold down push handles, or bold on push handles, for custom chairs, but I decided not to because of how infrequently I want or need to be pushed. Someone may desire push handles if they prefer or need help on steep inclines (especially if they have to take them often), if they sometimes do not have the energy/ability to push themselves, or just because it's a good option to have.
[ID: Two pictures of the wheelchairs facing the camera side by side. In the first they are empty, and in the second Pecan is sitting in them. End ID.]
Things to notice:
The Karma's swing away footrests are straight, while the Quickie's rigid frame slightly tapers in.
The Karma's foot plates are at slightly different angles and visually less steady than the Quickie's solid footplate.
The back of the Quickie has a cushion, while the back of the Karma is solid fabric.
The Quickie has one solid cushion, while the Karma has two piled on to the seat.
The Quickie has no armrests, while the Karma has two built into the frame.
The frame of the front of the chair on the Karma is straight - this is something many will prefer on their rigid chairs! Others like myself prefer a taper - my next chair will definitely be one with a stronger taper. As far as I am aware this mainly comes down to preference. I just prefer the taper because I feel like it leaves less room for my legs to move, and also leaves a tighter frame for my casters which I'm always in the mood for. The casters being directly behind the footrests means that the footrests have to go out much further on the Karma, which made it a lot harder to turn in tight spaces. This can be mitigated with a foot rest.
You'll also note that the casters on the Quickie "stem" off of the front of the frame, going back and at an angle, while the casters on the Karma are straight under the boxy frame, making the foot rests go out further. This is just a byproduct of the chair being foldable.
The footplates being swing away also makes them less steady at the cost of greater transportability. The chair is extremely easy to transport - when fully deconstructed I have fit it in the foot space for my passenger seat - but my legs would jostle/move very easily and the footrests would regularly shake on rough surfaces. This is less of an issue for my Quickie with its solid footplate, but in return it requires a full seat to be stowed while fully disassembled.
The back of the Quickie has a foam cushion and a zipper for it on the upholstery - the back of the karma is just fabric. Once more, this is pretty much just for the transportability, though the Karma is also more breathable for this, while I would need to go out of my way to buy a more breathable backing for my Quickie (and pay out of pocket), even if this is a more comfortable backing material.
The cushion for my Quickie was paid for with the chair and velcros into place - the cushions on my Karma were bought out of pocket and are a cheap air cushion under a fairly priced gel cushion with a cover. Both work about as well as the other for me, but the two cushions slide around very easily. I have a velcro cover I sewed by hand for outings but I've left it off in the pictures because I forgot I had it.
The Karma chair has solid armrests and for most people this is fine - many will also have them on their custom chairs. The benefits include feeling more secure in your chair, an easier way to do "chair pull ups" for repositioning, relief of pressure, and arm exercise, and just having a thing to rest your arms on. Others like myself will prefer a total lack of arm rests since it frees up your arms/elbows, and bumping my arms into them all the time tends to Really overstimulate me. I actually have swing away/removable arm rests for my Quickie but I haven't casually used them since getting them.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Why I Made the Upgrades That I Did
Silicone covers for the push rims: they make them easier to grab and they also look cool. They do make them bulkier and they make tight fits through door frames tighter.
I added colored spoke skins (plastic straws with a seam to snap them on to spokes) because I think it looks cool. That's all there is to it, I think it slaps, and I get compliments on them all the time.
I added frog leg caster forks because I have a lot of nerve pain in my legs, and they soften how much shaking I get in my chair from going over rough surfaces. They're smaller than the casters my chair came with to add maneuverability.
I have a smart drive because I live in an urban area and it greatly increases how fast/far I can go without needing a car or bus - it's not great for the local hills, though.

Dark Academia one shot
Eren x Reader X Levi love triangle
I've had this idea in my head for a while: a Dark academia series with an Eren x reader x levi love triangle. Here's a little snippet of that. I'm debating making it a full series if I have time to write it.. but let me know what you think!
(Y/n) quickly walked the corridors of the castle hall in search of the library. She needed to find a copy of some literature texts that were assigned as homework that she had completely forgotten about. She was falling asleep at her desk when she was awoken by utter panic realizing she hadn’t started her paper yet, so she threw on her robes, shoved a bottle of ink and a few quills in her bag, along with some paper, and quickly made her way down the halls.
Few students were wandering about, chatting amongst each other, or slowly making their way back to their dormitories, looking utterly exhausted.
“Hey, (y/n)!” Her friend, Jean called as he saw her rushing down the hall. By the time she registered who it was, she had already far passed him. She quickly looked over her shoulder and waved to him. “Hi!” Before continuing to her destination.
Once she finally made it to the library, she pushed past the large wooden doors.
The librarian was already gone for the evening, and it was quiet. Out the large library windows you could see the vast grounds of the castle. Snow danced from the dark clouded sky and added to the already thick blanket that covered the ground.
The library was one of her favourite places in the castle. It was magnificent. The ceilings were unbelievably tall and many of the shelves managed to reach the top, only accessible by ladders and the occasional flight of stairs. She was terrified of heights and hoped she’d never have to search for a book at those heights.
She was scanning through the books in the section dragging her fingers along the spines. She found the one her class was assigned to study. She noticed there was a book missing from the collection. She thought it was rather odd because the librarian may have fixed it before leaving, aligning the books to make sure there were no empty spaces in the middle. She shrugged and removed a book from the shelf.
She began to make her way to the seating area, turning the corner and pausing for a moment when she noticed the light from a candle. She peeked further around the shelves and saw another student. She noticed he was writing notes from the same book she was assigned, dipping his quill carefully in his ink jar before gracefully scribbling on his parchment.
Upon further inspection she realized she recognized the boy from her class. She didn’t know his name, or couldn’t remember it at least, but was he ever handsome. In class he sat at the back near the door, was always the last to arrive and the first to leave. He was quite elusive, as she didn’t see him in the great hall during meals, if he was even there.
He heard her gentle footsteps as she peeked further yet and turned to look at her, his green eyes immediately meeting hers. His gaze immediately sent a shiver down her spine. The candle gently illuminated his face giving her the perfect view of his features.
“Hello,” she said, feeling a bit nervous, slowly walking towards him. The sound of her footsteps on the stone floor echoed through the vastness of the library. She paused at the end of the table, still a foot or two away from him.
“Hey,” he said cooly. He noticed the book in her arms and connected the dots, so she assumed. “You’re in Professor Smith’s class as well?” He asked.
“Yes.” She stepped forward. The boy motioned for her to have a seat and she obliged, placing her bag on the chair beside her. She sat across from him, sharing the candlelight.
“Eren.” He said, holding his hand out.
“(Y/n).” She said, taking his hand. It was surprisingly smooth, and quite warm.
She admired him without trying to make it obvious. He was very handsome, his dark brown hair thrown up messily, some strands framing his face. His black tie was loosened, and the first few buttons of his shirt were opened. She felt herself growing more nervous with every second of silence that passed. While he was secretive and mysterious, he exuded such confidence that it was impossible to ignore. She swallowed thickly, not knowing what to say next. Thankfully, he was the one to break the silence, retracting his hand as the handshake was done.
“I forgot about the assignment until a few hours ago.” He admitted, breaking the silence, scribbling some notes on his paper.
“Same,” she said. “That’s why I’m here now. Just trying to start it.”
“Would you so want to work together a bit?”
She glanced down at his paper, which was almost filled with notes. He had been working hard that evening.
“Sure,” she said. “I don’t really know where to begin.” She pulled out her own quill, ink, and paper.
“I’ll share what I have so far,” he said, leaning in and turning his paper towards her.
They began to collaborate on their assignment, sharing ideas and building off one another. She was surprised at Eren. For someone who wasn’t fond of literature, he was well versed in the topic, using words and phrases that she wouldn’t have even thought of using.
They must have been there for a few hours, as the candle had nearly burnt through the whole wick, the wax dripping onto the table below.
They could have kept going if they hadn’t gotten interrupted.
A new pair of heavy footsteps echoed through the empty library. A figure began approaching, slowly coming into view. Eren looked over his shoulder and (y/n) looked past Eren.
“Professor Ackerman,” Eren said, turning his body in his chair.
Professor Ackerman was their physics professor, the class that (y/n) wasn’t too fond of all. Though, she did have a soft spot for the professor, an innocent little crush… To be fair he was as young as they came. She heard he was also a student just a few short years ago. He excelled in physics and the university wanted him to stay to continue his research as well as teach.
He strides towards them, his finger wrapped tightly around a candle stick holder. A lit candle flame flickered rather violently, threatening to extinguish itself at a moment’s notice if the professor didn’t let up.
“What are you two doing here?” He said in his regular monotone voice. His brow was furrowed, and while he never showed much emotion, she could feel the irritation radiating from him.
“Working on literature.” (Y/n) piped up. The professors’ grey eyes turned to her, another gaze that sent a shiver down her spine.
“The library is closed now.” He said flatly. “It’s time for you to head back to your dorms. He turned on his heels, expecting the two students to follow.
“We need to put our books away- “Eren stated. The professor stopped.
“Leave them. Let’s go.”
Eren and (y/n) exchanged looks as they gathered their things. Eren blew the candle out before they ran to catch up to the professor.
The three exited the library and the professor closed the doors behind them.
“Mr. Yeager, I trust you can make it back to your dorm? And I trust that you will go straight there?” Professor Ackerman asked.
“Yes, sir.” Eren said. Eren gave (y/n) an unsure look before departing, not wanting to get reprimanded.
Professor Ackerman turned towards (y/n). He looked at her up and down carefully, his gaze unnecessarily cold. (Y/n) looked past him and saw Eren walking away. It was almost as if he felt her gaze, as he looked over his shoulder at her one more time before pressing on.
“I’ll walk you back to the ladies’ dormitories.” The professor said, drawing her eyes back to him.
“I know my way back,” she said hesitantly.
His eyebrow twitched, “I need to make sure you go back there.” He shoved his hands in his pockets and began walking in the direction of the ladies’ dorms. “Let’s go, I want to go to bed.” He said flatly.
They walked in silence for a bit, her head hanging low as she shuffled behind him.
They were both silent for most of the walk, her eyes occasionally moving from the floor in front of her to the back of her teacher’s head. Her stomach was swirling with different emotions. On one hand she was nervous. She did have a small childish crush on her professor, but she knew nothing could or should ever come of it. On the other hand, she was upset with him because she was having a great time studying with Eren in the library. She didn’t want it to end.
She felt conflicted…
“Here we are,” the professor said as they approached the entrance to the ladies’ dorms. “Don’t let me catch you out past curfew anymore… or there will be consequences next time… Our university is a prestigious one and there are rules in place. You should be honored to be studying here.”
She didn’t reply, gazing at his feet, not knowing what to do.
He then cupped her chin, guiding her head so her eyes would meet his grey ones once again. “Do I make myself clear, (y/n)?” He asked. He seemed to linger on the names a bit, and she was surprised he even remembered it with all the students he interacted with every day.
“Y-yes… sir.” She uttered. He held her chin for what felt like an eternity, examining every feature of her face.
“Also… you should stay away from that boy.” He said, gazing into her eyes. Her heart skipped a beat at his words. “I think you deserve much better.”
Before she could question why, his hand left her chin, and he began walking down the hall. His touch still burned her skin as she starred at him, dumbfounded as he continued. He tucked his hands in his pockets, the only remnant of him were his echoing footsteps until those too had become lost in the darkness of the corridor.

Age: 35
Birthday: 31st October 1987
Gender: Female
Height: 8’8
Weight: 350 pounds
Appearance: Lilith commands attention with her imposing stature, standing tall at 8’8”. Her presence is both striking and enigmatic, reflecting her dark and powerful nature. Her long, dark scarlet red hair falls in waves, reminiscent of blood-stained silk, framing her face with a big side fringe. It's partially curly in certain parts and very curly and long at the back, reaching the midpoint of her back. Her eyes, a piercing crimson, gleam with mystique and power, accentuated by subtle black markings resembling veins under her eyes. Five blood moon red spider eyes adorn her forehead, adding an otherworldly allure. Her pale anti-flash white skin contrasts starkly with her dark features. Black markings decorate her face, adding to her mysterious aura, while charcoal black tints adorn her hands and feet, with her hands having a blood-moon red tint at the ends of her fingers. Ebony black sharp demon horns grace her head, exuding a regal and formidable presence. Mandibles with black pincers tipped in blood-moon color add to her menacing appearance. Her body is adorned with various tattoos symbolizing her connection to magic and darkness, visible on her back, arms, and front. Her ears are a unique combination of demon, Gerudo, and siren styles, with black webbing between the spikes. Her lips, painted in captivating black cherry, draw attention to her enigmatic smile. Adding to her allure, subtle siren scales appear all over her skin under moonlight, while Twili markings along her arms are visible only at night. Her body features a tail inspired by Striker and Charlie from Hellaverse, with a chocolate cosmos base, a platinum blade tip, and a blood moon red heart at the center, surrounded by chocolate kisses colored spikes. Additionally, she possesses a long dark sienna tongue that is extremely long, as well as fangs having a combination of varied species, adding to her formidable appearance.
Personality: To her enemies she can be cold and calculative with a slight hint of cunning and sultry but when it comes to people she genuinely cares about, she is kind and protective whilst also being caring and sometimes shy when it comes to her crush but that is super rare of her. |History|
Lilith's early life was marked by tragedy and persecution. Born into a small town in 1987, her mother, a talented witch, fell victim to a wave of hysteria reminiscent of the Salem Witch Trials that started in 2002. Accused of practicing dark magic and consorting with supernatural beings, she was unjustly sentenced to be burned at the stake. As a young child, Lilith had to bear witness to this horrific event, which left a lasting impact on her. But the torment didn't end there. Lilith's unique heritage and emerging powers made her a target of fear and prejudice among her peers. She was subjected to relentless bullying, enduring both physical and verbal abuse. Rocks were thrown at her, insults hurled, and she was ostracized from her community. The cruelty she experienced as a child was a catalyst for her decision to flee her hometown, seeking solace and a place where she could belong.
Driven by a strong determination to embrace her true self and find her purpose, Lilith embarked on a solitary journey. She roamed the world, exploring hidden realms and studying ancient arts. Along her path, she encountered mentors who recognized her potential and nurtured her abilities. Under their guidance, she honed her skills in dark magic and necromancy, becoming a formidable practitioner. The hardships she endured, from witnessing her mother's tragic fate to enduring the persecution of her peers, shaped Lilith into a complex individual. Her experiences have instilled within her a burning desire for justice and the strength to stand against oppression. Now, as a powerful necromancer, she seeks to uncover the truth behind her mother's persecution and to protect those who suffer from prejudice and discrimination in the supernatural realm.
Amidst her descent into darkness,Lilith's path intersected with that of the Phantom Troupe. Drawn to their enigmatic leader and their mission to defy societal norms, Lilith saw an opportunity to align herself with a group that shared her desire for justice and power. With her formidable skills and unwavering determination, she proved herself to be a valuable asset to the Troupe, earning her place among their ranks as a fearsome enforcer and powerful ally. Thus, Lilith became a member of the Phantom Troupe, embracing her role as a formidable villain.
|Trivia|

She is a liquor chic more than a wine chic
She does swear a lot - especially if things don't go her way.

If you’re over the age of 40 and have started to notice difficulty focusing on close-up tasks like reading or using your phone, you’re not alone. Many people in Aurora, Newmarket, Richmond Hill, and King City experience age-related vision changes known as presbyopia. One of the most seamless and effective solutions? Progressive lenses.
At Parham Optical, we proudly offer custom-fitted progressive lenses designed to give you crystal-clear vision at all distances—without the visible line found in traditional bifocals.
What Are Progressive Lenses?
Progressive lenses are a type of multifocal lens that provides a gradual transition between different vision zones:
Distance vision (top portion)
Intermediate vision (middle portion)
Near vision (bottom portion)
Unlike bifocals or trifocals, there are no visible lines, making them more attractive and easier to adapt to for most wearers.
How Do Progressive Lenses Work?
Progressive lenses work by seamlessly adjusting the lens power as your eyes move up or down.
When you’re looking ahead—you use the top portion to see objects far away (like driving through Richmond Hill).
When you’re looking down slightly—you’re in the intermediate zone (perfect for using a computer at your Newmarket office).
When you look down further—you access the near-vision portion, ideal for reading books, menus, or texts in a café in Aurora.
This design allows you to wear just one pair of glasses for all your needs, without switching between readers and distance glasses.
Benefits of Progressive Lenses
✅ No need to switch glasses ✅ Smooth, natural transitions between focal distances ✅ Modern and stylish – no visible lines ✅ Customizable for your lifestyle – work, reading, driving, and everything in between ✅ Available in photochromic (transition), anti-glare, blue light filtering, and ultra-thin lens options
Who Are Progressive Lenses Best For?
Progressive lenses are ideal if you:
Are 40+ and experience blurry near vision
Have different prescriptions for near and far
Want a more natural look without the bifocal line
Work in environments where you shift focus frequently (e.g. teachers in King City, remote workers in Aurora, or retail professionals in Newmarket)
We often recommend progressives to professionals and active adults who need convenience and clarity all day long.
Are Progressive Lenses Hard to Get Used To?
Some people need a short adjustment period. You may notice:
Peripheral blurriness
Slight dizziness or visual distortion when switching zones
This is completely normal and usually fades within a few days to a couple of weeks.
At Parham Optical, our opticians will carefully measure your pupil height, frame fit, and lifestyle needs to customize your lenses for optimal comfort. We also offer follow-up adjustments if needed.
Progressive Lens Options at Parham Optical
We offer a wide variety of progressive lenses including:
Standard Progressives – affordable, general-purpose lenses
Premium Freeform Progressives – digitally customized for enhanced clarity and wider viewing zones
Office Progressives – perfect for people spending long hours on computers
Outdoor Progressives – great for active lifestyles and bright conditions
You can also combine progressives with:
Blue Light Protection (for screen users in Newmarket & Richmond Hill)
Photochromic Coating (for those frequently outdoors in Aurora or King City)

10/05:

Hello! It's quite ok to ask about OC info, that's the cool thing about fandom spaces after all. Originally I wanted to provide some illustrations but yeah, go my huge blocks of text. Also sorry for the long wait, my poor girl went through intense revision.
Timeline-wise they are manufactured way before Nation's LSTR units, already existing when Vineta was under Empire's control.
So without further adieu here's..
A guide to KPGR.
(also titled as "WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY'RE MASS MANUFACTURED UNITS")
--Document for Senior Technician's eyes only.--
Name: Klimaforschung-/Pionier-Geodät Replika (Climate Research/Pioneer-Geodesist Replika) "Emperor Penguin"
Frame: Biomechanical with polypropylene shell lined with kevlar fibers.
Height: 284 cm (9'3")
Gender: Female
Replika type: Non-kombatant
Gestalt donor: Laryssa ████
Replika Overview
The KPGR unit is a highly versatile non-combat engineer designed for both terrestrial and orbital operations. With expertise spanning geodesy, cartography, vessel piloting, and engineering, KPGR units are indispensable assets across a wide range of environments.
On land, they play a critical role in construction and exploration missions. Their enhanced depth perception, sharp vision, and access to gestalt-preserved experience enable them to create speculation maps in real-time and accurately assess terrain from a single glance. This makes them particularly valuable in military contexts, providing rapid tactical insights for efficient cargo routing and identifying potential ambush sites.
In space, KPGRs serve as reliable transit and orbital vessel pilots. Their tall, robust frames not only endure harsh space environments but also command a natural authority: a peculiar asset in high-risk or volatile missions. Their presence is a common requirement aboard long-range or exposed flights.
While Kaiserpinguins are best known for their involvement in a certain high-profile space program, any mention of this operation is strictly prohibited. Disclosure or discussion of its details is a matter of legal consequence, with enforcement handled by state authorities. Despite this, the legacy of their participation continues to influence how the unit is perceived: respected by many, enigmatic to some, and closely monitored by few.
Physiology
Beneath their hard polyethylene shells lies a complex internal system optimized for extreme efficiency. They possess accelerated metabolism and can digest over 95% of consumed materials, producing almost no waste. In emergencies, they rely on integrated compartments filled with compact, high-nutrition rations capable of sustaining them for up to three months without external supplies.
About neural pattern..
Fig. 1 // KPGR gestalt donor(right) posing with her pet(left).
The KPGR unit’s neural pattern originates from a professor of the Eusan National Geographical and Klimaforming Institute, donated voluntarily under a formal agreement between the Institute and the government. Although standard protocol mandates the complete erasure of a gestalt donor's identity from public records following pattern extraction, an exception was made in this case. The professor's existence was preserved under the condition that her official fate be recorded as an unfortunate death due to illness, with any reference to her connection to the KPGR unit strictly omitted from all documentation.
Known Issues
Kaiserpinguins are notably unsuited for combat scenarios. Their large frames are incompatible with standard weaponry, and they lack the agility required for both fast-paced skirmishes and sustained physical engagements. When exposed to direct combat, their processing speed deteriorates significantly, further compromising their performance. As a result, they are categorically excluded from any frontline assignments and are designated strictly for non-combat or tactical roles.

Dev Pile 2025-19
Hey, check this out.
Man, this was a lot of work.
These are the bid cards for Moonshiners. This is the kind of Dev work post that doesn’t turn into a thousand words very easily. It’s been all day’s work, I’ve been trying to make sure I get it done, but what I have to show for it is nine cards that I’m already critiquing.
Let’s do that then.
First things first, these cards are black on black. First problem with that is printing them. This eats a ton of black ink, and even if it doesn’t it’s going to make printing them slow. There is an easy solution to that for prototyping, before these cards get turned into a game product for people to spend money on:
Just a simple inversion and now these cards are a lot easier to print on a device like a inkjet printer. Not that I intend to make a print-and-play version of this game like that, but it’s still an important part of the accessibility plan.
Second, the boundaries on these icons are a little off, and the silhouettes of the numbers aren’t quite how I want. Consider the 5 looks lopsided, with the grid angled to the side. Because the pip of the money is an arrowed shape pointed to the right, it means that grid of 5 needs to be repositioned specifically.
Similarly, the 9 and 6 are too similar, and might lead to people being confused by the similarity of the numbers and the similarity of the grid. These cards are going to get played into a pool and looked at from all angles. Also, there’s just not enough room between the numbers and the pips. Maybe the numbers can just be smaller?
I think I need an off-by-half grid of the pips as well; so 8 and 4 can be pulled inwards a little, to. The two outside pips in the second row on 8 could be closer to one another. The 4 should be arranged as a + not a X, too.
The cards are rotationally symmetrical, which means they’re not boxable. A boxed deck is when some of the cards are rotated around 180 degrees to the others, and that makes sorting them into the correct orientation is time consuming. This is also why a white border on one card face when the other is black has some value; it means when the cards are disorganised, it’s easy to grab a handful, tilt them a little, and tell how many of them are the ‘wrong’ way up. This aesthetic of solid black is cool, but it does make that a little difficult. Hopefully, the ‘missing corner’ on the card face art deco frame makes that easier, I’ll have to test that when I have physical copies to play with.
I’m not sure I want to keep the pips as wads of bills like this. I’ve tried using coins, but those don’t feel very American. On the other hand, maybe just abstracting them to $ symbols can look cool. Hang on, lemme see:
Hmm, that’s not a bad thing to use as a stand-in. I do think that the off-set, the angling down to the right of the whole card face, the angular swoop of the whole face does merit reattention, but a 3×3 and 2×3 half-offset grid of the same symbols seems like a good next step.
The issue here is that the $ symbol is just very tall; all characters like this are in this kind of art deco font, because art deco was typically, very much about orienting upwards and claiming height. It was the design of skyscrapers, it was the abstraction of upness. That means fonts for it tend to look very tall. It can create a feeling on the card of narrowness and that makes it easier to see this as a grid of numbers, and not a count of pips.
Anyway, there are two other card faces:
These are as simple as possible, to make them easy to show off. I immediately want to add text to them; I want them to convey clearly to the player what they’re meant to be used for, and that makes me wonder about how to put text on these cards.
In the bottom right, mirrored for the other forms of the card seems the first place to consider. Another option is to put it on a bar angled to match the angle of the frame – a line drawn from the upper-outer-leftmost point to the midpoint bottom of the golden frame. These icons also probably want to be closer to the center of the card, so that they’re harder to accidentally give away when you hold your hand a particular way.
The text on these cards is probably going to be something like:
CLAW: If you’re the only claw bid, you take the lot and the unprotected cash!
HAND: You’re out of the running and can protect your cash.
These also need an affiliation symbol, a spot for some gem that indicates that a particular player is using these ones, which means players can identify themselves through their cards after the chaos of a claw bid happens. These are not because players are guaranteed to forget, but because it is possible they forget, and the card symbols can be used to store information that players might not want to forget.
This is just the information on these cards. This is just trying to make sure these prototypes can do their jobs, and I’m not going to change these before playtesting with them. These cards do their job well enough, but when the time comes for the next round of revisions, I’ll be able to contrast my first impressions (my ethnographic engagement with the work) and the opinions and experiences of others as we play the game together.
The next thing to work on is a quick-and-dirty template for the places and some kind of simplified graphic for those. I think at this stage, if I’m not going to be acquiring a large amount of art, the important thing is to have simplified card faces that project a good style.

Welcome to GraphyPix LLC’s free graphic design templates for your unique creativity. You will get free and premium templates for presentations, print templates and mockups. Nowadays graphic design is getting more and more popular. As digital trends continue to take shape and size, graphic design online becomes an imperative.
It becomes an accessible service for business owners and creators from all parts of the world. With many online graphic design services at one’s fingertips, every person has the ability to work with talented online graphic designers irrespective of where they live. It is this flexibility in terms of work scope that has opened many graphic design websites that have portfolios, templates, as well as inspiration among both designers and clients.
Specifications of Graphic Design Templates
When designing the templates for graphic design, it is essential to set key elements that might be changed for different uses but still keep the brand consistent and aesthetically appealing. The core components you would want to have in multi-use graphic design templates are explained below.
1. The grid and structure of the layout
Grid System: This will help in aligning the content consistently and in a reliable way for free graphic design templates. Some options may be a 2×2 or 3×3 grid system or even custom, depending on how complex and what type of content it is.
Margins and Padding: Make it look polished by using uniform spacing. Set transparent inner and outer padding to allow your design to breathe.
Column Layouts: For text-heavy templates, columns enable readability and visual flow.
Asymmetrical vs. Symmetrical Layout: The designer has the choice to make it asymmetrical or symmetrical. This will visually create either a dynamic or formal look for free graphic design templates.
2. Typography
Font Styles and Pairing: Choose a primary font for headers and a secondary font for body text. Font pairing should match the brand personality, whether modern, elegant, or playful for your free graphic design templates.
Hierarchy and Sizing: Use different font sizes and weights to show hierarchy. This will make the most important elements stand out for your free graphic design templates.
Line Spacing and Alignment: Maintain consistent line heights and alignment to ensure readability and uniformity across free graphic design templates.
3. Color Scheme
Primary Colors: These should be the most used and should reflect the brand’s core colors.
Secondary Colors: Include accent colors for variety and contrast. Secondary colors are excellent for calls to action or highlighting. Neutral backgrounds are often essential. They create contrast with text and visuals and keep balance.
Color Gradients: If relevant, subtle gradients can add depth without overwhelming the design. You can check our website for more color scheme, palettes and design ideas.
4. Imagery and graphics
Placeholder Image Frames: Use placeholder frames to define image areas. They can be easily swapped out.
Use custom icons or illustrations: They should match your brand and convey messages quickly.
Image Filters or Overlays: Set filters or overlays to keep a consistent look in images, even with new ones.
5. Shapes and patterns
Use shapes such as circles, rectangles, or unique brand-specific shapes to highlight specific text or images. You can use circled shapes with interactive patterns for graphic presentation.
Background patterns or textures: Subtle textures or patterns can add depth. But they must not interfere with the text.
Dividers and Borders: These are elements that draw lines to separate and structure content. They should be manageable for the design for your free graphic design templates.
6. Icons and buttons
Call-to-Action Buttons: Use standard shapes and colors for buttons. They should stand out and be recognizable for your free graphic design templates.
Iconography Style: Icons should match the overall aesthetic. They can be minimalist, detailed, or illustrative. They must also align with the template’s purpose.
Social Media Icons: They should be the same size and style. Please place them in designated areas for simple access for your free graphic design templates.
7. Branding Elements
Place for Logo: A designated place for the logo so that one never misses branding.
Taglines or Slogans: Insert taglines here to enforce brand messaging.
Watermark or Subtle Brand Marks: Include transparent brand marks, especially for visually heavy designs like images and presentations.
8. Text and Content Blocks
Preformatted text boxes: headers, subheaders, body text, quotes-all are kept consistent. Apply obvious styles to lists, especially in informative templates like infographics.
Highlight Boxes: Text boxes with contrasting backgrounds for key notes or highlights.
9. Interactive Elements (for Digital Templates)
Hover Effects: For web templates, incorporate effects that make buttons or links stand out when hovered over.
Clickable Links or CTA Areas: Set placeholders for CTA links or social media buttons. Ensure they’re simple to locate.
10. Consistent file structure and layer naming
Organized Layers: Each element should have a clear label for easy editing for your free graphic design templates.
Editable Sections: Mark areas as editable to ensure ease of customization, especially if handing off the template to a team.
By setting these elements, you’ll create robust, flexible templates that adapt well to different needs without sacrificing design quality.

Free Graphic Design Templates: Features to Look For

Any graphic design software should have certain features that you will need at some point in your design journey. If the ones we’re investigating don’t have them, we’ll feel like they are behind the times, and we can find something better.
You may have to pay for some of these features, but we’re hoping to find at least one suite of tools that can do them all for free.
Feature 1: Flexibility of File Type and Size
If you import a vector image for free graphic design templates, it should be able to exit as any file type. If you import a PNG file, it should automatically convert to a JPEG file type.
If you bring in a large image, you should be able to shrink it without losing quality. If you upload a small image, you may receive a warning that enlarging it could lead to a loss of image quality.
Feature 2: Background Eraser
Having a reliable background eraser where you don’t have to outline things awkwardly with your finger on a mouse pad is a must.
People who do graphic design for a living typically have a screen/pad and stylus solution for this. However, if you’re looking to complete a task for your business on a budget, we need to ensure that it remains simple.
Feature 3: Templates
The more templates, the better. Saving time by finding something close to what you want and making changes to it can be a huge time saver.
They should, of course, also have a way to start from scratch if you’re just not seeing anything like what you’re trying to accomplish.
Feature 4: Social Post Creation… Maybe scheduling?
We would love to see interactivity between the design software and social platforms, even if it’s through an app you add to the design software.
We don’t want to create and save the image in one program and then upload it to a social platform. After that, we would need to handle the optimization tasks and schedule the post.

A quick follow-up to this post about accessibility and sending professional email:
The message templates I mentioned aren't available in mobile Gmail at this point, but you can still set up email templates and save them as Drafts.
When you need a quick text/template/sentence frame, click on Drafts in the sidebar and copy/paste from the relevant draft. Subject lines are visible in message drafts, so you can use that line to name your templates if you have a bunch and use them regularly.
And speaking of mobile writing, there are a lot of people, again of all ages, whose phone is their primary device. They might have access to another device at work or through school, but the device they own, where they have an expectation of privacy, is their smartphone, and if they learned how to touch-type on a standard computer keyboard they might struggle to write fluently or quickly on their phone, which could result email that sounds less than professional.
If that's the case, speech-to-text is going to be helpful, but that method is far from perfect, and might feel awkward in spaces that aren't private. My suggestion is to practice typing on the screen.
I do a lot of writing on my phone, and I know there are other people with really fast fingers out there, but for those of you who struggle with this and want to increase your wpm and accuracy on your phone, I've got some tips!
Adust the height of your keyboard and the size of the keys. Gboard does this and there are some other useful settings like editing-mode, clipboard functions, and a text scanner. Gboard is great, but make sure to be aware of and adjust your privacy settings as appropriate.
Go into keyboard settings and adjust vibration and haptics to so there's a slight vibration when keys are pressed. (I have pop-up on key press enabled too and I think it makes me more accurate.)
Adjust your body position so you're comfortable, and ensure that you're holding your phone far enough away from your body that you can see the typing area and the whole keyboard while you type.
Sit to type whenever possible, and rest your hands and forearms on something that elevates your phone slightly so you're not folding forward over it. Ergonomics is especially important on mobile. Don't hurt yourself!
Turn down your screen's brightness and/or use a night mode setting so you don't exhaust your eyes.
Practice! We've tried a few typing programs with students, most of them paid, but I recommend MonkeyType because it's free, fun, and works well on mobile. If you try it and decide to create an account, go to settings and adjust test time to your preference. If you're not sure start with 2-5 minutes. Play with the Funbox settings to customize the test, and see if you can beat your best score for speed and accuracy. You can customize the keystroke sound too! Some of them are really annoying!
Take breaks, stretch, flex your fingers, rotate your wrists!
Apps for mobile writers (my favorites):
Proton Drive has a free version with a few GB of storage
Markor is a free offline text editor for Android. It supports markdown and is customizable, and sharing from Markor to other apps is simple and fast.
Obsidian is another markdown editor with a free version, is cross-platform, has options to sync files across devices, and supports organization of notes with tagging and linking.
Personal Dictionaries. On Android this is literally called "personal dictionary" in settings, and on iOS I think it lives under the autocorrect setting. Depending on what you're writing, proactively adding words like proper nouns to your personal dictionary instead of waiting for autocorrect to learn them will improve your typing speed!
There are tons of apps and cloud storage out there and I haven't tried most of them, but those are the apps I feel most comfortable using.
iOS has a built-in notes app but apparently a recent update made it hard to use? (I don't have an iPhone but this was an issue for someone in my family who said it takes forever to open now. I hope they fix that because so many people rely on it.)
If you have a Google account, Keep Notes is pretty reliable but as far as I can tell the note "file" seems to be indistinguishable from a Google Doc -- every note in Keep has an option to move it to Google Docs -- so if you use Google Docs for writing this might be ideal. I don't use Docs for personal writing because I have to use it for work, but it's reliable and easy to use on mobile.
Please reply or reblog if you know of any mobile writing apps that are easier for everyone to use, more reliable, or have better privacy/encryption options.

Research Post #5: Man Ray-O-Graphs
Born in 1890, Man Ray (Emmanual Radnitsky) is one of the most influential artists and photographers of the 20th century. Prior to his use of photography, Ray would create art in connection to the growing Dada movement which emerged after the first World War; themes of Dada art were intentional rebellions of modernity and the status quo (war, capitalism, industry, etc.). His work had an emphasis on playing with negative space and irregular object compositions. While Ray identified himself more as an artist than a photographer, this doesn't make his work with a camera any less notable.
When staying in Paris, Ray would begin to make his first 'rayographs'. Made without a camera, these rayographs involved a traditional photogram process of placing objects on photosensitized paper and exposing them to light to make negative images. Like in his paintings, the compositions were created through happenstance rather than intentionally, leading to a more abstract appearance. The images he produced were created during the heights of various artistic movements like Dada and Surrealism, leading them to be iconic symbols of 20th-century avant-garde art. While rayographs weren't a new concept at this time, Ray is credited with bringing back this technique in the age of modernity.
From the various rayographs that I've seen, I'm surprised at how strong and engaging many of the designs are to look at. There is a very dream-like quality to these images, and it feels like the objects in frame would start to break up or drift away if you lose focus of them. Even if Ray might've not known what the final result would look like, I believe there was still some amount of intention with the objects he chose, or atleast their general position. I would imagine he'd have a good eye on the placement of objects and from playing with negative space in much of his work.
Just looking at the images makes me think that the process must be pretty fun itself. Various artists during this time seemed to have been inspired or incorporated the process into their work, and I can see why if you only need just a few resources. While that could be seen as detracting from rayographs as an art form due to its reproductive nature, I think the process especially at the time must've been a type of catalyst for helping artists look at things in new ways. Pretty appropriate that this movement of 'seeing things in new ways' was made accessible through a seemingly outdated process that was discovered almost a century prior.

The asus proart PA32DC was designed with convenience and ease of use in mind. It's easy to move around the board, thanks to the built-in metal carrying handle on top. The screen is also lighter than most other color processing monitors of its type, weighing only 8kg with the small stand, 12.14kg with the standard display.
Speaking of Mini-balance, this allows you to remove the regular indicator and attach two metal legs to the bottom of the frame, creating the kind of thing that is common in high-end production controllers like Sony or Flanders. By using these small supporting legs, you can also pack the entire screen as a flat rectangle while the legs can be turned to be mounted on a panel (size approx. 74 x 48 x 7 cm). Traditional monitors are also provided, including tilt, height, swivel and swivel adjustments (graphics supported), or you can mount the screen via VESA 100mm if you want.
The connection port is placed on the side for easy access and the power supply is connected so you don't have to worry about additional power if you want to move the display around your studio or work space.

Advantages of OLED panels
From panel technology, the biggest selling point here is the OLED panel. The screen has 31.5 "and JOLED created its panel, offering a resolution of "4K" of 3840 x 2160 but above all with the arrangement of RGB subpixels. This avoids any color and texture issues you may encounter with other OLED technologies, including the WRGB configuration of OLED TVs (e.g. LG 42C2) and the strange triangular RGB configuration of QD-OLED panels (e.g. Dell Alienware AW3423DW).
The high resolution provides a crisp, clear picture on a screen of this size, increasing the pixel density compared to the smallest (42-inch) OLED TV option, while allowing for improvements in desktop space compared to 4K and 27 inches. . display size. The text size is used efficiently at 125% size, creating a nice desktop space to work on.
In fact, OLED panels are well known for their infinite contrast ratio, and true blacks are possible because the panel can completely turn off each pixel. This per-pixel dimming also means that you avoid any problems with blooming and halos that you will find in even the best Mini LED/FALD backlit monitors. The near-fast response time is also a notable feature of this technology (0.1ms G2G spec, 60Hz refresh rate only), although this is less of a concern in this professional market. Still, it's worth minimizing exposure to any sensational content.
