I'll be honest, "we're on Tumblr because it's chronological" is not a strong argument to me. I greatly appreciate the chronological timeline, miss it on Twitter and Facebook, and would be very disappointed if it were to go away forever, but I'm still on Facebook and Tumblr because that's where the people and posts I want to see are. An algorithm would muck up the second part of that, but I didn't quit any platform because I didn't like that they use an algorithm. I got bored with Twitter and wandered off and the timeline totally sucked when I came back so I don't hang out there like I do on Tumblr and Facebook, but if my Twitter feed had active engagement from people and topics I care about instead of an ad for Whitestone Dome every two posts because I don't follow many people who are still active, I might still use it.

Pillowfort is chronological! I only check in once a week or less because I have no friends there and even after following a bunch of communities my feed is mostly Achrilock posting a lot of things to those communities, not many of them actually a direct interest. Mastodon is chronological! I mainly go there when I have something to put into the ether that's more appropriate for Masto than Tumblr.

the problem with the 100 is that it tries too hard with certain demographics.

I’ve been hearing that what the CW is essentially doing is slanting its shows to appeal to an older (presumably white) male audience, which gravitates well to the violence in shows like Game of Thrones, and needs just enough of a titillation factor (for example, Clarke/Niylah) to keep them drawn in.

Comfort is most important when you're starting out. It should feel gratifying to lay down lines and shapes. Also... your figure drawing is freaking amazing for someone starting out, btw.

Yeah, it was surprisingly frustrating and not pleasant to work with the brush pen, and did not make me feel like I wanted to continue. So far I like charcoal best--though the painting teacher introduced us to conte yesterday and I find I like that quite a bit, too! I like a nice, soft pencil too, but I definitely want to play with any and all tools/media.

GPA doesn't mean shit. Your enthusiasm and willingness to learn are all that matter. Those things build people, and build the world. Not some number on a piece of paper that everyone will forget as soon as you walk out of school.

Well I know that. If it were true I wouldn’t be hired to all these positions where I’ve been paid to do science.

The problem is a lot of people in Academia view GPA as the defining characteristic and will reject anyone who falls below a certain arbitrary line.

Its hard to fight this kind of system when you have no power.

I have no business in this sandbox and yet, I made an effort. :) 1. Architects and overlords, good places and bad, did either of them remember how things used to be?

Michael stared at Shawn’s face on the screen. His expression remained stoic with just a hint of malice around the eyes. Some demons couldn’t contain it but Shawn was always controlled and stoic. Those were traits Michael had admired, back when his goal was to develop a whole new form of torture and make a name for himself among the demons. Now, though… something about Shawn’s tightly held expression made Michael sad. He was on autopilot, so busy holding onto the status quo that he couldn’t see any else. Wouldn’t see it. 

“Do you ever wonder why I’ve sided with the humans?” Michael asked. 

Shawn gave a half roll of his eyes. “Because you’re a puddle of weakness or a gullible idiot and either way, you deserve to be tortured for all eternity.” 

Michael’s shoulders sank. Shawn didn’t even consider the question. “You’re wrong.” 

Shawn smirked. “No, you’re wrong. You will lose and when you do, I will make sure you never forget it. At least until until I have you retired.” 

The screen vanished. Michael sat there for a moment. Normally that threat really rankled him but now, it felt less powerful. Shawn felt less powerful. 

The door opened and Eleanor came in, followed by Jason and Tahani. Eleanor stopped short when she saw him. “Hey, buddy, we interrupting something?”

Michael shook his head. “No. You’re right on time.”

yep, that's precisely it. it's sassy, half-sexually provocative adventure porn, and not very good at even that. it has its moments of dramatic weight, but it sacrifices narrative integrity for quick gratification, and thus, doesn't set its own parameters within the mind of the viewer. In other words... transient trash. Even Terra Nova was a lot better, and that only went for one season. and it had fucking dinosaurs...

@ghost-of-achrilock yeah that's a possibility! Today I was just looking at their blog & there was a post about a "new mod" and a hiatus. I want to belive it was a hack but who knows, ya know? But I've seen enough bizarre identity faking on here to know that does happen too :'/
