Effective exercises to build the strength and stability in the knees. These are used more specifically for ACL rehab but including these type of exercises can help prevent some injuries from happening in the first place.⠀ ・・・⠀ 🎥 By @stephallen.dpt ⇐ Thank you 🙌⠀ ・・・⠀ 1️⃣ Single leg --> Single leg box jump and stick⠀ .⠀ The focus here is to start to push the skill of force PRODUCTION and POWER, assuming that force ABSORPTION is on point by now. This will carry over later on in heavy/fast strength training, acceleration/sprinting, and cutting/change of direction. These latter two are notorious culprits in non-contact injury mechanisms, which speaks to the important place that training power holds in a RTS program. ⠀⠀ .⠀ 2️⃣ 90-Degree vertical jump with target landing ⠀ .⠀ This is ALL about trunk control and core stability, specifically while in the air. If the athlete cannot control their center of mass (COM) while in the air, this can set them up for trouble during landing. @hewett1tim, the OG in ACL research, speaks to how trunk control can have a significant impact on LE joint angles and lever arms in a jump and land situation; aka its important! We are looking for minimal displacement of the feet here, which is cued by having the athlete jump AND land within the area inside the band.⠀ .⠀ 3️⃣ Run/walk progressions! ⠀⠀ .⠀ The goals are simple: normal strides without hip drop or compensations, no pain, and adherence to a gradual increase in on/off times and overall running volume. This is particualrly important for those who have had a patellar autograft procedure, as they may be slightly more prone to some patellar tendon "cranky-ness."⠀ _______________________________⠀ ✅ Discover reliable, driven health professionals, and quality, useful information.
