Your animal crossing character is very gender

i'm flattered but i don't see it??? i think maybe it's just that i'm not using the same big ol googly eyes + kitty mouth + button nose that everyone and their grandma is using.

when i played wild world (and later imported character to city folk) i had those hideous little beady eyes with the lashes on the bottom. you know the ones. in new leaf i had the ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) face bc that was THE meme at the time but for new horizons i felt it was time for a return to form: giving my girl 24/7 CRAZY EYES

maybe absence of kawaii :3 face registers as presence of gender like how menthol tricks the brain into thinking mint is cold

Head Girl studying some kind of magical artifact at Hogwarts & chilling back home on the south-west coast of Ireland.

so the other day i was playing Animal Crossing wondering how i could best do a traditional Western Irish outfit for my OC and fell down a rabbit hole of historical fashion on youtube and ended up thinking "Wait i could just draw her instead of trying to clumsily recreate this in ACNH 🤔" SO I DID. (kudos to me for drawing instead of playing)(and kudos to fashion history nerds on youtube i love you 🙏🏻)

AND I'M SO HAPPY I DID. i'm in love with my drawing. i created her in like 2002 or something and it's the first time ever i'm happy with how her face turned out 🥹

drawn after Bouguereau's magnificent work. sketched on paper, corrected a bit + painted on computer.

as for her outfit, i took inspiration in several sources. i think i read/heard somewhere red skirts would traditionally be for married women, but it's such a pretty colour i put it on her shawl. also i did not go as far as to draw patterns on her clothes because it's waaay out of my league haha.

5 - TV show of the year?

it might be doctor who for me. the 3 special episodes were a lot of fun (once again exposed for not watching media 😔 look i watch a lot of youtube okay ask me about my yt watch habits i can prove it😂)

8 - Game of the year?

Chants of Sennaar! it's got a lovely art style and the puzzle solving combined with linguistics is a lot of fun. (this is where you all learn i'm not a hardcore gamer ✌️😔 but i have 2000+ hours of acnh okay i can video game)

25 - did you create any characters (in games, art, or writing) this year? Describe one

i did create an existentialist painting this year that i was quite proud of. the character is on a white canvas, with the word 'why?' filling the background over and over again. the central figure is a ribbon, with the features of the face spread across it, as if the ribbon is unspooling someone's head. there's stars in her eyes. the text in the very bottom right finishes the last 'why?' with 'i care.'

Someone: how is acnh horror

Me:  You are on an island. Whether you had a life before this island or not is unclear, as you receive letters and gifts from someone called mom, and yet no one knows you, and you do not know them. You did not even know this world's form of currency, which seems a bad sign for whether you existed before now or not.

But whether you were or not before, it does not matter. You are on an island, and though you may see other islands on the horizon, you may never go to them. Though you may take a plane or a boat, they will only bring you to a handful of places, full of smiling faces, and yet as desolate as the island you came from. And they will inevitably bring you back to the island, usually by your own request as you explore these adjacent islands and eventually exhaust their interest, nothing more to do there and returning home in defeat. Though allowed to purchase tickets, your destinations will always send you back to where you started. You may never really leave.

On this island you suppose is now your home, you are surrounded by the smiling faces of several animal creatures who are nauseatingly friendly, and will like you no matter what you do. Jabs at you are in jest, gripes quickly forgotten, and no matter how much you'd like to talk to them, they seem to be cycling through several scripted conversations. There is nothing you can do to change this. Occasionally someone will ask to leave, wanting to see a world that you can't, but strangely ask your permission, as if you were in charge of them. You can ask them to stay and they will with a smile plastered on their face, or you can encourage them to go, but they will only be replaced by another villager with all the same conversation options. Same voices, different painted face.

You can catch fish, you can collect shells, you can shake trees, but they serve one purpose, to sell and give you more money, more money to buy more things. More things to decorate this island that you can't leave, like painting the walls of a prison cell. Except, there is no walls. There is sea, and islands as far as you can tell. But there is nothing out there that will be any different from what you have here. There is no point in leaving. Nothing here is real. Nothing you do matters. And no matter what you try, you cannot make a single thing change but the colors you paint your prison.

Ive been playing acnh alot recently, right? So had a dream where me and an old friend of mine (Chloe) were at this party. And I think there was someone shooting up the bathrooms while we were in there, it was this guy in like a black hoodie I think. And we were behind like this glass thing and a lot of other girls, but it could only be temporary, and the girls were asking Chloe to open this closet (which was like very thin in width and I mean THIN like anyone can squeeze in but yk) (and it wasn’t very long either, like 5-6 avg people could fit) so that they could fit. And I kept opening it slightly and she kept crying “stop, stop.” And we called a friend (I didn’t know who this was yet) and he said he’d pick us up and something abt spray paint, and 5 mins later someone spray paints the glass and does fireworks in the bathroom? The lights start to break and we panic and the tv, which for some reason had like a Donald Trump interview on it, kept projecting everywhere. And we all got so scared then my OTHER irl friend who hates me (mutually) comes and saves us and then it becomes animal crossing?? Like what. And then he’s like in the little mirror room, like when you press the mirror it sends you to a lil room, and he was like choosing the face thing and he had like a barn on his face already? And then picked a little animal, I forgot what it was, that costed me bells, then I accidentally bought a walrus that got me to like 5 bells or smthn and I legit cried. I think that’s where it ended
