Europe 2022 - Day 40 - Athens

It was my last full day in Europe, and I finally got up early enough to hit up the Acropolis of Athens. I had been told to be there early, but may have hit the snooze button one too many times. Also, one little mosquito that was buzzing in my ears the night before did a number on me over night - somewhere in the neighborhood of about 12-15 bites. They’re smaller and don’t itch too much - I guess they’re no match for American mosquitos. ;) But if I can catch that little bastard, he’s mine.

I got to the Acrop only 15 minutes after opening. And behold, here is the Parthenon:

It’s weird - some of the marble the museum people are super touchy about. Then you’ll go somewhere else, and a piece of fully inscribed marble is half sticking into the ground, just waiting to be defaced. Crazy...
