just thought of an absolutely devastating mashup and promptly made both myself and emily cry... Les Mis’s “Bring Him Home,” but it’s Admiral Paris thinking about his son off in the delta quadrant and their complicated relationship and how ultimately all he wants is for his son to be happy and safe.

or, to make it even more heartwrenching... it’s Janeway thinking of Tom-slash-her-crew-in-general, what with her infuriatingly, nobly, selfless and self-sacrificing tendencies fitting the whole “if I die, let me die / let him be, let him live / bring him home” lyrics a little too well

anyway emily and I are both literally sitting here crying about this whole concept now :’o
