厲害了！英國發行新版1鎊硬幣 號稱世界上“最難偽造”！

擁有英格蘭、蘇格蘭、威爾斯、北愛爾蘭各自象徵物的新版1英鎊硬幣，今天（3月28日）趕在英國啟動脫歐程序前夕上市流通。這枚12邊形的新硬幣號稱是最安全、最難偽造的硬幣。

法新社報導，新的12邊形1英鎊硬幣是1983年發行1鎊面額硬幣以來首度改款。英國財政部表示，新版硬幣將是“全世界這種類型裏最安全的一種”，能有效防止偽造。目前的圓形硬幣有大約3%都是偽幣。

新版1英鎊硬幣比舊款略大，但更薄、更輕，並有一道“全像型”（hologram-like，雷射立體影像）圖案，從不同角度將可分別看到數字“1”或英鎊符號。

另外，細心的讀者可能會發現，硬幣上女王已經從昔日年輕貌美的樣子，換成了現在慈祥和藹的樣子。

英國皇家鑄幣廠（Royal Mint）廠長勞倫斯（AdamLawrence）說：“領先巧妙的偽幣製造者一直是項挑戰，這款新硬幣有助我們贏得挑戰”。皇家鑄幣廠已製造約15萬枚新幣。

why is it called chainshipping I feel like I’m missing something rly obvious

as an Internet Old i am thrilled to be asked this question!

so ship names these days are usually portrayed as either a portmanteau of the characters’ names (ex. destiel, tomgreg, etc), or people will just write out CharacterXcharacter or Character/character. HOWEVER, back in the day, the portmanteau thing was pretty unheard of. instead, people either used the X/slash method (that’s where the name “slash” for gay fanfic comes from), or, in some fandoms, they would come up with a term for the pairing and then tag on the “shipping” suffix to show that it was a romantic pairing.

the pokemon fandom always has and still uses this naming convention, to give a familiar example— ash/misty is referred to as “pokeshipping,” jessie/james is “rocketshipping,” you get the idea. what i can’t tell you is WHY this naming convention used to be more popular, or why it fell out of style. gossip magazines in the 2000s using celebrity ship names like “brangelina” might have had something to do with it.

ANYWAYS, being that saw came out in 2004 and had a surprisingly active fanbase in the early days (there used to be multiple saw fan forums!!), i would imagine that’s why the name chainshipping caught on, as opposed to lawradam or adamlawrence or stangordon or anything like that. the shipping comes from..... shipping...... and they’re both chained up for the whole movie, hence the chain!

a final interesting anecdote: while lynnmanda seems to have since become the de facto ship name for that pairing, i have seen the term “shotgunshipping” used for those two as well. it’s a shame that one’s gotten kind of obscure bc i think it’s super neat!
