More aliens from the True Meaning of Smekday. I planned this one more based on the colors and wanted to do something with sunflowers; so dark blue and sunflowers it was! I spent a very long time on the dress so this is the most detailed out of the 4 total drawings of these creatures.

I wanted to do several as a series so that's why I held them until I had a bunch. I'm seriously not done drawing Boov, but I will post if I feel like it.

I really wanted to like it - I mean it sounds so funny, right? A fifteen year old is turned into a vampire while he’s overweight? Vampire’s are always so perfect looking - this had so much potential to be awesome. The main character, Doug, is a selfish little asshole. He’s unkind and acts as if the world owes him something. And okay - vampire, but still, be decent. And while I dreaded every page of this book, I did like the female characters. For days like that, on this Tuesday I'm recommending "Chu's Day" (2013) by the wonderful Neil Gaiman, illustrated by Adam Rex. So, I think I am ready to reveal what I have been up to for the last few months from an artistic perspective. I have been drawing the aliens from the True Meaning of Smekday in various poses and garments. I have 4 finished right now, but have a whole bunch of sketches on my phone and in a notebook.

Boov - The True Meaning of Smekday - January 12, 2019

 Here is a boov researching a common Earth flower. I gave this boov the little disk phones that their Dreamworks counterparts carry. I am drawing a few of these aliens in the original Adam Rex 'True Meaning of Smekday' style from the books. Even though Dreamworks created some adorable boov, I still find the Smekday style boov to be cute. Side note: I watched Solo: A Star Wars Story last week and it really hit me how the Smekday style boov would really fit visually into the Star Wars universe. Awesome!
