I don’t have my memory tuned to the finer points of the plot, so I might be missing the obvious, but one thing that immediately stands out is that the hound of the baskervilles was famous for its glowing eyes.

Additionally, the Hound was hidden in a mire for a while in order for the perpetrator to carry out his plot, and like many poor dogs in the Holmes canon, the Hound was likely abused and infrequently fed, and I believe one of the reasons the perpetrator was caught was in part due to his abused wife/pseudo accomplice losing trust in him and eventually giving him away.

There’s quite a bit there that we hypothetically could apply to rwby, and it sort of makes me wonder if Cinder or Emerald is going to blow the roof off this operation and eventually tell all to rwbyjnor.

I have a theory that maybe the Hound is the end creation of whatever Watts' alternative to the Penny project was, I thought we might see it this season, and I wondered if he tried to weaponize Grimm. Is the Hound the official name, or just the current fandom name? Cause if it's the official name, that could be a pretty strong connection to the Hound of the Baskervilles.

The Hound is the official name, yes. It’s listed in the credits alongside it’s voice actor.

And that’s... fuck, I could see that being an idea Watts had. He wouldn’t be the first person to experiment with Grimm. 

And ironically, the first person we know of to experiment with Grimm, Doctor Merlot from the game RWBY: Grimm Eclipse, shares a voice actor with Pietro Polendina.

I think there’s potential because presumably Blake and Yang will be explicitly together sometime before the series finale, so that makes it different in that we may get to see them date for multiple seasons.

Y'know, I'm really genuinely interested in what's going to happen in the RWBY fandom once Blake and Yang actually start a romantic relationship.

Because I've been observing for a while, and it seems like there's been a solid influx of people jumping onto the show Volume over Volume as the direction of Bumbleby has become increasingly obviously romantic and that knowledge has spread outside of the viewerbase.

And I can't help but compare it to She-Ra, where I watched the same steady growth in popularity season after season.

But even I was shocked at the massive surge in popularity that occurred with Season 5 and the conclusion of Catradora's arc, culminating in a confession of love and a kiss. It was like the floodgates had been thrown wide open, and show exploded in popularity. It's still even solidly 4th in Ships and 8th in TV Shows on Fandometrics, three months out from release.

I can't help but wonder if the RWBY fandom is going to see the same massive surge once our blonde-and-catgirl couple gets together, or whether the circumstances around each show are different enough to see differences in the effect.
