Dear City of Pittsburgh, *please* pronounce the name of the popular coffee/tea shop, Adda, right. Also, fix other infrastructure and gentrification things.
It's pronounced: "uh-d"-"duh" Where the d's are heavy retroflex (ɖ in the International Phonetic language) that are conjoined and tied together - so you almost have to pronounce the first d and then stop and continue the second d in flow. Additionally, the "a" in adda is ⟨ɐ⟩ in the International Phonetic Alphabet - a rounded "uh" sound. Type "আড্ডা" in Google Translate or some other internet service to hear how it's pronounced.
-- Adda is a Bengali/Bangla word and the namesake of the coffee/tea shop, Adda Coffee & Tea House, in Pittsburgh. They have four locations as of the writing of this post. It means "chat" and has a sentimental, cultural, and conversational meaning in Bengali culture. It often refers to the chatting a group of people do while having tea or small snacks. E.g., "cha ar adda" (tea and chat) The BBC wrote an article about it! https://www.bbc.com/travel/article/20210812-adda-the-secret-to-bengali-conviviality
In Adda's logo, they also allude to the Bengali spelling - the d's in the logo are tied together.
So, if this city insists on gentrifying neighborhood after neighborhood, then perhaps it is not that extreme of me to insist that my culture and language be preserved and not completely blown over the American English pronunciation of "adda."
Please don't appropriate an already established Bengali tradition encapsulated in a Bengali word and keep mispronouncing it. You are calling it a different word and eroding its roots. Additionally, if you know the painful and strained history of the language of Bengali within the Bengal region during partition/independence, then you know why this strikes a nerve. Please see the "Bengali language movement," which ultimately led to the declaration of February 21 as a global and annual holiday, International Mother Language Day. We all deserve to fight for our languages and expression.

Roman Empire this. Chicago this. Yellow this. Okay what about my coffee house? What about my Nikhilesh? Moydul? Goyaniz desouza? Roma roy? Amal? Sujata? What about those who I lost in my coffee house where I am left, frozen in a state of deluded happiness? All the adda and the piled up cups of chaa and ciggerate smoke of our dreams? I wonder if they're stuck too, maybe at different tables. The coffee house which we birthed on accident and now those afternoons i keep in pearls in my eyes. The coffee house stays, to provide family to new guests, but I'm not allowed anymore, all I do is stand outside the door and sing, "পুরানো সেই দিনের কথা ভুলবি কি রে হায়, ও সেই চোখে দেখা, প্রাণের কথা, সে কি ভোলা যায়" in hope that my shokhas will return someday, unchanged.

Summer In Calcutta
What is this drink but The April sun, squeezed Like an orange in My glass? I sip the Fire, I drink and drink Again, I am drunk Yes, but on the gold of suns, What noble venom now flows through my veins and fills my mind with unhurried laughter? My worries doze. Wee bubbles ring my glass, like a bride’s nervous smile, and meet my lips. Dear, forgive this moment’s lull in wanting you, the blur in memory. How brief the term of my devotion, how brief your reign when I with glass in hand, drink, drink, and drink again this Juice of April suns.

This is just a Magnus Chase and The Gods of Asgard oneshot
Characters: Samirah "Sam" al-Abbas, Jid al-Abbas, Bibi al-Abbas and Alex Fierro.
Story features: Sibling bonding, soft moments, Alex being nervous and slightly OOC, Sam being an awesome big sister and Jid and Bibi being wholesome
A Family for Fierro
This is set between Hammer of Thor and Ship of The Dead
SAM POV
"No way in Hel"
"Come on Alex" I responded, chasing after my sibling has she walked across to the lift
"Not happening Sam. I'm not meeting your grandparents" Alex replied, her face set in determination
"Why not?" I asked as i stepped into the elevator beside my sister
"In my experience adults can't be trusted" my sister said darkly her slender fingers fiddling with the golden garotte at her belt
I winced knowing my half-sibling's experience with her abusive father, not to mention the mental interference of my father and her mother Loki
"Alex I know you don't have the best experience with adults but Jid and Bibi aren't like your father" I said softly, my hand gently resting on Alex's shoulder
"They're religious old people Sam and you're asking your atheist, genderfluid half-sibling to come with you to come meet them?" Alex asked raising an eyebrow
"Yes Alex" I stated "and they want to meet you too. I revealed to them that I had met a half sibling on my dad's side and they asked if they could meet you"
"Are they going to accept or at least respect my gender identity?" Alex asked seriously, her eyes fixed on mine
"Alex trust me Jid and Bibi are amazing people. They accept people of other religions or no religion, they've sheltered my friends who are LGBT before, they've adapted to my friends who came out as trans and my grandparents used my friends correct pronouns. Yes they're devout Muslims but they're not going to hate you for being genderfluid and aethiest little sister" I told Alex, smiling as i saw her eyes brighten slightly at the knowledge of my grandparents
"Okay sis. I'll give it a try" Alex relented a small smile on her face
I hugged her tightly and smiled "Thank you little sister. This means a lot to me" I whispered quietly to her
<Timeskip>
SAM POV STILL
I stood in the Hotel Valhalla lobby waiting for Alex. The lift bell rang and the doors opened revealing my half-sibling, dressed as ever in green and pink
"Morning sis" Alex muttered walking over
I smiled, quickly scanning Alex over and identifying the pronouns to use today
"Morning little brother" I replied grinning at Alex's surprised look
"How did you know I'm male right now?" Alex asked
"You're my sibling Alex. I spent time with Magnus to be able to tell when you're male and when you're female" I answered "Now come on"
I led Alex out of Valhalla and out to my car, ignoring Alex's raised eyebrow at it and getting in behind the wheel
"You have a car?" Alex asked as he got in
"Technically it's Amir's but he's letting me borrow it" I responded blushing softly
"Ahhhhh" Alex gave me our parent's crooked grin "How is my future brother-in-law?"
I felt my cheeks heat up as my blush intensified "Amir is fine. He's working today". Alex nodded and slipped on pink sunglasses as we drove back to my grandparents house
"Nice place" my brother commented as we pulled up "Cozy and sweet" he added as he stepped out of the car gracefully
"Thank you brother" I replied getting my key out "You ready?"
"As I'll ever be" he answered, for the first time since meeting him I saw Alex was scared. I gently pulled him into a hug
"It's gonna be okay Alex. I warned them you have trust issues with adults. They know not to overwhelm you" I said softly as i pulled back. Alex nodded and gestured to the door. I smiled reassuringly and opened it up
"Grandma, Grandpa I'm home. I brought my brother" I called into the house. There was the sound of footsteps and my grandparents walked into the hallway. My grandfather Jid al-Abbas, tall, "barrel-chested" as Magnus said and smiling, his kind face wrinkled and his dark eyes full of love seeing me happy. My grandmother Bibi al-Addas, shorter than me and Alex, but eyes and body filled with loving kindness and care
"Samirah dear how are you?" Bibi asked as she pulled me into a hug
I hugged back laughing and answerd "I'm okay grandma" looking over her shoulder I saw my grandfather smiling and caught Alex smiling to in the hallway mirror "Grandma, Grandpa this is Alex. My half-sibling"
Jid smiled and nodded at Alex "Pleased to meet you Alex. I'm Jid al-Abbas. Samirah's grandfather. This is my wife Bibi" he added, placing a soft kiss to my grandmother's forehead
Alex smiled slightly nervously and pulled off his pink sunglasses and dark green jacket, leaving him in his rose high-tops, green pants and pink t-shirt
"Pleasure to meet you too Mr al-Abbas" he replied Loki's charming smile and charismatic personality coming to focus as Alex spoke
"Well don't just stand there Alex come on in" Bibi smiled across at my brother and led the way into the lounge
Alex sat down on one chair as my grandparents sat beside each other on the couch, leaving me to sit next to Alex on another chair
"So Alex" Jid said smiling kindly "Tell us about yourself"
Alex's fingers drummed on his knee as he bit his lower lip "What do you want to know?" he asked, tilting his head ever so slightly as he smiled back at Jid
I rolled my eyes "Tell them about your interests and hobbies brother"
Alex nodded and started talking. Telling my grandparents about his love of pottery as it was something in his life he could control, his love of hiking and camping to get away and be in fresh air, his admittedly newfound liking for bowling and his recent interest in clothes making including that he was taking lessons in that area with a friend. I smiled at that thinking of the shirt Alex had made for Amir just a week ago
"You're a very creative young man Alex. It's impressive" Bibi remarked after Alex had finished talking
"And passionate about what you craft" Jid added
Alex smiled widely and shrugged "I like making things. If I have people like say" he smirked at me "a future in law to make things for all the better"
Jid and Bibi chuckled as I blushed and flicked Alex's ear "Watch it little brother"
Alex mock pouted "That was mean sis" he fake-whined a playful, joking gleam in his eyes
"You two seem to have a good sibling bond already. It's nice to see someone else Samirah can be relax and smile around" Jid said, a kind approving look in his eyes as he watched me and Alex
I smiled and wrapped one arm around Alex's shoulders "He's a pain but he's my brother" I said grinning
"Yeah and it gives her another male chaperone" Alex said an evil smirk on his face as he looked up at me
Bibi smiled "Oh that is good. It means Jid and Abdel can rely on some help when Samirah and Amir are out together"
Alex grinned across at my grandparents his own charming smile gracing his lips "You can count on me Mr and Mrs al-Addas"
Jid laughed "Alex you're our granddaughter's sibling. Call us Jid and Bibi"
Alex's eyes widened and he broke into a true smile as he nodded. I pulled my little brother into a slightly tighter hug and was surprised when Alex hugged back, glancing down at his phone when it buzzed
"Ah. I gotta go" he mumbled showing me the text. My eyes widened as i saw it was from Magnus's cousin Annabeth asking Alex to come to the docks for Magnus's sea training
"Sorry Jid and Bibi but my friend Magnus needs my help with something" Alex apologises looking remorseful
"It's okay Alex. Samirah do you want to take your brother wherever he needs to be?" Jid asked
I nodded and picked up Amir's keys from the coffee table "Come on Alex" I said softly
As we were leaving Bibi gently took Alex's wrist "I know you have a rough past Alex. And I know you have trust issues. But we have a spare bedroom here and you're Samirah's sibling. I know you might not be ready yet but our home is open to you as is that bedroom whenever you need it" she said gently, pressing a door key into Alex's palm
Alex's eyes widened again and from my angle I could see them watering with the beginnings of tears as he nodded at my grandmother
"Thank you Bibi. Thank you both" he said softly, his voice barely more then a whisper as he made eye contact with them both before wiping his eyes on his jacket sleeve and leaving for the car, slipping then key into his pocket. I smiled at my grandparents and followed my brother out
ALEX POV
I was standing in my room after an afternoon spent dragging Maggie's dead body to the Hotel and then going back to the docks. Sighing in tiredness I sat at my desk and slipped a hand into my pocket. A smile danced across my lips as my fingers closed around the small, metal key in my pocket. I pulled it out and stared at it. Tears leaked down my face as I held the proof of something I hand wanted for over a decade. This key, this small, cheap, metal key that others would've dismissed showed me one thing. I had a family. I had family that supported me and adults who wanted to get to know me. After the childhood I had, having family that supported me was worth more then all the money in the 9 worlds. I fell into bed in shorts and a t-shirt a smile on my face still and dreamt of future meetings with my sister's grandparents
My name is Alex Fierro. And for the first time in my life and my death I have family and adults I trust
#MagnusChase, #Alex Fierro, #Samirah al-Abbas, #Sibling bonding, #Sam is an awesome sister, #Little brother/sister Alex, #Alex needs a hug, #Jid and Bibi are amazing people, #Loki's kids

BANGLA WORDS   কফিখানা [kôphikhana] | café, coffeehouse
The loanwords ক্যাফে [kŷaphæ] and কফি হাউস [kôphi haus] are also in use.
Pictured is the interior of the Indian Coffee House in West Bengal. One of the most famous of India’s coffeehouses, Kolkata’s College Street location is protected as a heritage site. The coffeehouse was originally established in 1942 as a part of Albert Hall before it was named a coffeehouse in 1947. Throughout its lifetime it has attracted students, artists, musicians, writers, politicians and intellectuals alike, fostering a reputation as the perfect meeting place for আড্ডা [adda] sessions, or lengthy or in-depth conversations.
Kolkata’s Indian Coffee House has served many famous visitors, including: Satyajit Ray, Amartya Sen, Mrinal Sen, Aparna Sen, Ritwik Ghatak, Narayan Gangopadhyay, Sunil Gangopadhyay, Sanjeev Chattopadhyay, Samaresh Majumdar, Subhas Mukhopadhyay, Shakti Chattopadhyay, Craig Jamieson, Sukhamoy Chakraborty, Tapan Raychaudhuri, Barun De, Sumit Sarkar, Malay Roy Choudhury and Samir Roy Choudhury.
Looking at the photos, I think it’s pretty cool that it’s taken on the aesthetic of its intellectual reputation with the paintings and photos of scholars and artists on its walls, and it also has nice airy balcony seating.

El café de la paz
youtube

Scarlet Contract: Part 1
The fresh cool air of Duskar blew through the window. Another cool day ahead of them. Scarlet, being the first to get up from bed, looked down at a sleeping Rat and Borghild. Putting her clothing on, she walked to the living room to see her two youngest already up. Good. Breakfast first. Then she’d get set to work. Peeling oranges, the Gerudo set to work quickly on delivering food for her kids.
Rat woke not too long after Scarlet. He carefully wedged himself away from Borghild, who always slept like the dead, and stretched. He was old now, sixty years of age. Gray had riddled his hair and he had the slightest tint of winkles forming. Scars were thicker, more noticeable then usual. While he could still do his daily chores and manage work, it was getting harder. There were deep pains that haunted his body. Sometimes, the aches disturbed his focus. Yet, he put on a smile and always managed to play with the younger tykes.
The ex-pirate thought back over the years of when he held his firstborn. Revy was grown and spending more time with Seija now. The two were lovebirds, no pun intended. Trygve had grown into a huge warrior, taller and bulkier than him. The young man could transform into a fearsome into a grizzly just as fierce as his mother. Volcana was as sneaky as Bomba, and he was so glad that the little girl grew up to be just as lovely as Scarlet and as funny as Bomba. He could see more and more of Bomba in her everyday. He sincerely wished Bomba could see her now. And since Scarlet wanted to try for another child, it seemed they had more pitter patter of little feet in the house. Yet, he did not count on getting Scarlet and Borgie both pregnant at the same time. So now, there were two more daughters running around the house.
Putting out plates of breakfast, Scarlet whistled for her daughters to gather around. Although Volcana was a teenager, and quite independent, she still lived under Scarlet’s roof. “Girls. Breakfast.”
Lovisa and Greta were the same age and were as close as sisters should be. The two did everything together and refused to be without the other. Of course, this mean the two were twice as likely to cause trouble as well. Everything was completed in grins and giggles with a steady case of denial. As the two rushed to the breakfast table, they climbed into their chairs and settled in beside Volcana. Borghild grumbled when she heard the whistle and rose partway off the bed, her hair a mess.
"Am I going to have to snog her to get her to stop doing that horrid noise so early in the morning?" The mama bear grumbled. "So. Loud."
"Aye, perhaps so." Rat got off the bed and went to put on a fresh set of clothes. His back was hurting today from that fight with Onslaught all those years ago. When the dragon knocked him overboard, he managed to hit the ledge of the ship before the water. It had hurt him all these years, but was an old injury. "Borgie, me back is ach'n something a-fierce today. You rub it later for me?"
"As long as you rub mine." Borghild growled at him in a suggestive manner.
Scarlet took a crunch out of her apple. A sense of nostalgia filled her as she looked at her girls. She felt it was time. “Greta. Lovisa. I think it’s time you two learned a way around a ship. Volcania, you’ll be joining us too.”
Greta frowned, taking a bite of orange. “Must we mother? I wanted to play at the ranch.”
"I thought we were going to wrestle today?" Lovisa asked Scarlet as she munched on her fruit. "Mama said it's important to properly learn how to wrestle in order to win a fight. Besides, I'm the better wrestler."
"You're only the better wrestler cause you're a bear like your mother." Volcana rolled her eyes. "Anyone could tell you that, it's logic."
"So? Greta shoots better than you."
"And I ride horses better than you both."
"Okay, ya two, stop a-bickering so early." Rat walked into the dining area and kissed Scarlet on the cheek. "Borgie requests the cease of the a-whistling in the morn. She's a grumpy bear."
Scarlet guzzled down her drink, always enjoying a clear smooth taste of water down her throat. “And now, you will learn how to sail a ship. It’s in your blood.”
"Uncle Corsaire says sailing a ship is like handling a fine lady. What does that mean, Daddy?"
Rat nearly choked on his coffee. "Me will tell ya when ya older."
"Daaaaaaadddddd!" The girls protested in unison.
“It means that you put your soul into a ship like the one you will love.” Scarlet went to get her boots on. “All of your hurry up and finish your food. You’ll need the strength.”
"MMmhorn'n..." Borghild walked into the room half asleep. She had to have a little tea or coffee or even juice to wake her up. Being a grizzly bear, she valued her sleep. She kissed Scarlet and then Rat, and sat at the table. "Going off so soon?"
"Scarlet wants to teach the girls how to run a ship."
"She already runs a tight ship."
"A real ship, Borgie."
Scarlet put her light coat on and opened the door. “The seaside is beautiful today Borghild. Should join me.”
"Hrm," Borgie looked out the window. "Looks like a nice day for a long nap."
"Borgie, come now, let's entertain the girls and Scarlet for a while."
"Very well, but you two are cuddling with me when I nap."
“Always dear.” Scarlet kissed her wife’s forehead, then ushered the kids out when they were ready. “Come. We can go to Commodore Liz’s boats.”
Once at the ship, Rat felt that familiar wave of sadness wash over him. The sea always reminded him of the old days with the crew. He recalled Mojo and Juju loving the play darts at the bars in various port stops. Now, they were at home, enjoying the company of family. There was Acrobat, who could fly with the help of rope despite his legs. Then, when Asakonigei made him a pair of braces so he could walk normally, he found out that Acrobat loved to play music, particularly the fiddle. He worked in Hyrule at a bar, playing music for everyone. Pockets was as gentle as men could come and adored animals. Orana had been kind enough to let him take over the animal sanctuary when she was called away from diplomatic issues. Seer was here in Uskar, living out his days as a happy husband and grandfather. He still cooked for the king and queen, always enjoying the kitchen. If only Bomba could be here... what would he say now?
"The ladies can't resist me!"
"Whatever tis is, me didn't do it."
"Whale farts make tsunamis and fish makes great sushi, I love barmaid titties and shiny old rupees!"
He could almost hear him. Even if he was forgetting how he sounded at times.
Scarlet pressed on the wood boarding beneath her feet before turning to her girls. “All right children. Who knows how to lower and raise a sail?”
Lovisa and Great both pinched Volcana's backside so she would jolt and move forward. "Hey!"
“Alright Volcana. Get on the deck. Show me the ropes.”
The family spent the morning learning how to run the ship. It was a surprisingly fun activity for all of them. Rat felt like he was a young man again, hoisting the sails with Corsaire. He missed his captain, his brothers in arms, but was very glad that all of them were happy in life. Even Borghild tried to learn a few things from Scarlet, but the bear was more interested in the anchor staying exactly where it was. The last thing she wanted to do was to go out on the sea when she could smell a storm coming.
Scarlet showed the girls around the ship. They learned section names of the boat, how to steer a boat, load a cannon, and raise sails. At lunch, Scarlet let the dock master know they were going to sail about the lagoon.
"Nooo, no, no, a storm is coming, I'm telling you, I can smell it!" Borghild insisted, her hair almost standing up on end. She did not like flying, she could tolerate ships, but preferred land because it was not going anywhere. "We need to go back in."
"Mama, it's just a quick trip around the lagoon."
"Mom wouldn't take us out if she knew it would be bad."
Greta walked up to Scarlet, pulling on her mother’s shirt. “Momma. Why were you and papa pirates?”
Scarlet patted her head. “Circumstance my little Greta.”
"Yer Momma and me came from different backgrounds, my dear lassie." Rat reminded the girls. "Your Uncle Corsaire saved me life. Your Momma ran with her girls. All of the stories we told you were true."
“Why did you have Adda as your captain?”
The innocent question of a child could strike the deepest at times. Volcania was old enough to be weary of the name Adda. Scarlet held onto the wheel, deep in thought. “Because she was a sister, and the best suited to lead.”
"A bad sister at that." Rat told Greta and Lovisa. "Let's not bring up Adda around Momma, all right? We don't need to focus on bad memories, let's just focus on making the a-good ones."
“Rat. I don’t mind talking about the subject. Really.”
"... tis up to you, darling. I just don't like seeing you sad." Rat admitted to his lover.
"How did you... meet Adda?" Lovisa asked her question slowly.
“Rat. Drop the anchor.”
Once the anchor was dropped, the ship gently floated on the surface of the lagoon.
"Alright girls. Where to begin. Well, I met Adda when I was only eleven years old. Like all of us, she was taken aboard at a young age to serve the mast. Most of us willingly did so because our childhoods before them could be monstrous. Not too much younger than me, she quickly grew adjusted to life under Captain. We looked out for one another so that we might survive the brutal living conditions thrust upon us a times. When we were teenagers, I even saved her life.

House of Cards 1
Pairing, Hoseok X Reader X Yoongi
Genre, Fluff, comedy, Angst, College au
Warnings, none
Tumblr media
Love, what a beautiful but ugly word. Love can mean many things to people; Family, a significant other; but to you, it means desperation and rejection. You've liked, maybe even loved tons of people. You would always somehow find the guts to ask someone out only to get rejected in the end. Most people would call you a hopeless romantic; but to you, it just felt like you fell for people way to easy and fast.
So here you are crushing on your colleges most happy go lucky boy, Jung Hoseok. You've been crushing on Hoseok for what feels like forever, but in reality has only been three months, after having a kiss at a frat party.
You've known Hoseok since the two of you were in high school together. You were always put in the same class and you would occasionally have to partner for projects together, so naturally, the two of you became close friends; which makes liking him harder.
You want to ask him out, you really do but there's something, or someone that's in the way. Hoseok's girlfriend Ara. He's been dating her for a month now but they seem extremely happy together. Hoseok always talks about her when the two of you hang out, and he always asks for advice from you.
You feel like if he wasn't with her you'd actually have a shot with him but in the end, you just can't seem to get his attention.
As sad as it is that you can't get attention from Hoseok you did manage to get the attention of someone else. Min Yoongi Hoseok best friend. You've known that Yoongi has liked you for a while, do to Hoseok's hints, and the occasional flirting Yoongi would do when the two of you would occasionally talk.
As nice as it is to have someone as handsome as Yoongi like you and want your attention he's not Jung Hoseok. Yoongi is known around campus for being rude and blunt, to be honest, you don't even know how he and Hoseok are friends the two are complete opposites of each other.
Hoseoks an extroverted happy man with a passion for dance and Yoongis an introvert with a love for producing music, it really makes you wonder how they became friends.
"Y/n are you even listening to me?" You hear your friend Jimin say.
Jimin is your best friend; the two of you met in a photography class together and instantly clicked. You can tell Jimin anything from crushes to terrible drunken mishaps that have happened to you, and it's safe to say the same goes for him.
"Yeah sorry, Jimin I was just spaced out what's up?" You ask.
"Yoongi's staring at you again," Jimin says while taking a quick glance in the direction said man was at. You sigh at this and turn over to where Yoongi was sat in your college's cafeteria only to see he was indeed staring at you.
Instead of looking away like most people would, when the two of you made eye contact he just blankly stared at you before deciding to answer whatever his friend Namjoon said and continued to eat his lunch.
"I swear, you should just give up on Hoseok and date Yoongi instead. He's obviously super into you Y/n." You shake your head at this and take a bite of your food.
"I don't know about that Jimin. Maybe when Hoseok breaks up with his girlfriend he'll want to date me" you say. Jimin sighs at this and shakes his head at you.
"Y/n Hoseok is very happy where he is in his relationship, I think it might be a while before he breaks up with his girlfriend. Come on give Yoongi a try. You might just fall for him. I mean what are you gonna lose? He's pretty handsome, and nice... I think" Jimin states while taking another glance over to where Yoongi and his friends were sitting.
"I'll think about it" you sigh.
"Adda girl, now go throw your food away we gotta get to class," Jimin says while getting up from his seat and throwing his food away. You sigh and pick up your garbage before throwing it away and following Jimin to your shared class.
…………………………………………………………..............
Later that day after all your classes you find yourself sat across from Jimin in your favorite cafe drinking hot chocolate.
Throughout the day Jimin still hasn't given up on the whole dating Yoongi thing and it's starting to really bug you.
"Y/n c'mon Yoongi's hot and I'm pretty sure he's nice, I saw him hold the door open for some random person today, "Jimin says while taking a sip of his drink. You sigh and shake your head, glancing around the cafe looking at all the nameless faces before looking back at Jimin with a frown.
"Jimin, I really don't want to. You know how I feel about Hoseok, it'd feel like cheating if I went out with his best friend, and I'm pretty sure that your still unconfident about Yoongi actually being a nice guy." Jimin sighs at this and the two of you sit in silence till you notice a mischievous look on his face.
You raise your eyebrow and take a sip of your hot chocolate.
"I really don't like the look of your face Jimin," you say before taking another sip of the delicious beverage.
"I just got a really good idea" Jimin states. You instantly sigh at this and say,
"Alright let's hear it" Jimin instantly smiles at you and says,
"Ok so I know you won't date Yoongi but what if you dated him to make Hoseok jealous?"
"To make him jealous? Jimin I don't know If I could do that" you say.
"oh come on Y/n I think you should do it. What could go wrong?" Jimin asks
     "Literally everything Jimin" you state.
"Y/nnnn" Jimin whines
"Jiminnn" you whine back. Jimin sighs at this and looks at you as if he was begging for you to at least try this, if not for you for him.
"Fiiinnnne, I'll go out with Yoongi" you sigh.
"Yayy! So how are you gonna ask him out? Where are you going to take him on a date?" Jimin asks.
"I don't know yet Jimin, I'll probably just say hey do you wanna go out on a date and get coffee with me or something sometime" you huff. Jimin nods his head and then suggests,
"Maybe when you go out on your date with him you go at the same time as Hoseok and his girlfriend, I know they go on lots of dates together"
"I think that would be a good idea, but maybe not for the first date so I at least get a chance to get to know the dude. I think I'll ask Yoongi out tomorrow before or after class then and get it over with. It's not like he's going to say no" you say. Jimin enthusiastically nods his head at this and the two of you decide to change the topic to something school-related.
The next day you sat in class in your usual spot at the back next to Jimin keeping an eye out for Yoongi. Yesterday when you declared you would ask him out you acted like you felt confident about it but on the inside, you were dying of nervousness. You knew that Yoongi would say yes; he doesn't really hide his crush on you, in fact, the whole school knew about how much he likes you. But anyone would be nervous in asking someone out even if someone is romantically interested in you there is always the small possibility they'll say no for whatever reason.
So here you are, with Jimin's constant talking as you silently sat dying inside hoping to any higher power that Yoongi will not show up to class today.
"Ughh why isn't he here yet?" Jimin groans. At this point, Jimin is starting to get frustrated. The two of you have been here for a half-hour waiting for Yoongi and class is about to start in a minute.
"Look, maybe he's sick today," you say while taking a quick glance around the room.
"I doubt it. I don't think Yoongi would want to miss any class that he has with you, he'd miss the opportunity to stare at you for the hour"
"Now you're just taking his crush overboard," you say.
Eventually, the class starts with no signs of Yoongi. You and Jimin shrug at each other and you can't help but praise literally every god or higher power ever that he didn't show up. You really didn't feel like asking Yoongi out today. The only reason you would've done it was because you told Jimin you would and Jimin would be an ass if you didn't follow through.
About halfway through the lecture, the door to the classroom opens and a familiar white-haired man walks in. You instantly feel yourself die inside while Jimin silently cheers.
You watch Yoongi apologize to your professor before choosing a random seat in the middle of the classroom before your professor continues with his lecture.
As the lecture went on you noticed that Yoongi would look back at you every once in a while before looking down at his notebook and continuing to take notes.
Once the lecture was over you quietly cursed to yourself while quickly grabbing your things so you could make it over to Yoongi before he leaves.
After you grab all your stuff Jimin wishes you luck and you head over to where Yoongi's desk is.
When you get there you can see Yoongi putting his stuff away slowly. The white-haired man looked extremely tired as well as attractive as much as you'd hate to admit it.
"Hey, Yoongi." You say. Yoongi quickly looks up to you with a surprised look on his face.
"Ah Y/n do you need anything?" Yoongi asks with an awkward smile.
"Um yeah, so I was actually wondering if you'd like to go get coffee with me sometime or something…… like a date," you say while feeling yourself slightly cringe. I can't believe I'm doing this just to make Hoseok jealous what's wrong with me? You think as you awkwardly smile at Yoongi while waiting for his response.
After a few seconds of waiting Yoongi finally smiles at you,
"Yeah, I'd really like that. Umm, I'll get your number from Hoseok so we can plan it out" Yoongi says happily.
"Ah okay, that's all I wanted… umm, have a good day ill text you later then" you smile. Yoongi nods at you and grabs the rest of his stuff before giving a small wave and leaving the classroom.
You then make your way over to where Jimin is standing only to see a proud look on his face.
"What's with the look?" You ask as the two of you finally leave the classroom.
"I'm just so proud of you," Jimin says while pretending to wipe a single tear off his face.
"ah well you can be proud while you help me figure out what I'm going to wear for my date," you say.

The city of Joy- Kolkata
Tumblr media
You either fall in love with Kolkata – hook, line, and sinker, or you simply don’t. Steeped in the colonial legacy that is as old as four centuries, Kolkata elicits an extreme reaction mostly from folks that visit it, and even those that have made it their home. The eccentricities of the city, its over-crowded bazaars, the lavish spattering of Victorian architecture melding into dingy neighborhoods of ancestral homes that have seen better days, are enough for those who prefer its languid rhythm to absolutely adore and cherish it.
In order to truly soak up the essence of Kolkata, there is plenty to take in outside of its well-known languorous pace. Here shopkeepers bring down their shutters in the afternoon to indulge in a siesta – prospective customers be waiting. The evenings are punctuated with rounds of tea and cutlet at a coffee house over an animated political discussion, and everyone – from hawkers, cabbies, to wayfarers – move in a beat of their own. Whether it is shopping for Tant and Kantha sarees, secondhand books or tripping on lip-smacking Chinese – also inexpensive – to picking up antiques like an old Roman clock, a Gramophone or a vinyl record – Kolkata sets the perfect stage.
Today we give you eight compelling reasons to visit the only Indian city that went through Renaissance.
1. You don’t need a reason to indulge your sweet tooth:
Tumblr media
When not joining the fellas for an adda at the rock (rock here refers to leisurely chat on the porch of a house or a playground), Bong folks indulge themselves with sweets doused in patali gud (palm jaggery). Some of the sweets you need to cross out from your wish-list of traditional Bengali sweets are the ubiquitous Rosogolla, Sandesh, Chom Chom, Sita Bhog, Langcha, Kalo Jaam, Gaja, Kheer Kadam to name a few. Don’t rely only on the sweets available at the hotels in Kolkata – go out and savour the local shops. You don’t have to go far and wide in search of these assorted sweets, even your friendly neighborhood sweet-shop will do a nifty job of them.
2.  Kolkata is synonymous with budget shopping: If you are the artsy type and have an ethnic bias in your preference of clothes and fabric, Kolkata is your hub. The dizzying array of sarees its local markets offer from Tant, Katha, Baluchari, Bangladeshi Dhakai, to hand-painted and embroidered ones on Tussar and Bishnupuri silk, can make a discerning saree connoisseur out of you. Furthermore, head to the New Market area for some pretty trinkets in silver, pick up pieces of Blue Pottery, the famed Bakura horses carved in terracotta too make for a good souvenir, including the elaborately decked Chau masks depicting gods and goddesses from Indian mythology.
3. Of tram rides and Durga Puja: While people here are always on the move, they are in no rush to get anywhere. To test this maxim, a tram ride is warranted. The milieu of people using it as a daily mode of transport, their quirky chatter, and their inherent passion to quote Robi Thakur (Rabindranath Tagore for you), is an art acquired. Besides, its quite another thing to experience the city during Durga puja decked up for festivities. The exhibition of lights, the grandiose puja pandals, the fervor, and the unrelenting din on the streets intermingling with the sound of conch and chiming bells, can get you addicted to the kaleidoscope that is Kolkata.
4. The Ganges flowing beneath the Howrah Bridge is the most photographed site:
Tumblr media
The iconic Howrah Bridge straddling a serene Ganga river with a lone oarsman dragging his frail wooden boat along it, is a lasting imagery this old-world city throws up. One of the busiest cantilever bridges in the world, commissioned in 1943 under British India, a drive through the Howrah Bridge passing the daily vistas of the Hooghly River is at once rejuvenating and a must-do for every tourist to the ‘City of Joy.’
5. A day of sightseeing and an evening of light and sound show at Victoria Memorial:
Tumblr media
Not to mention, there is no escaping the touristy things to do in Kolkata, for they too carry with them a certain novelty. Agreed you have seen your share of museums and interactive spaces, but Kolkata’s Science City is in a league of its own, comparable only to Andhra’s Birla Science Museum. From taking a trip in a time machine to experiencing the phenomena of quicksand – it truly makes science relatable, even engrossing. Proceed to the Nehru Children’s Museum and browse the doll’s gallery to get a sense of the country’s ethnicity. Round up with a trip to the iconic Victoria Memorial. Peruse the museum for its collection of portraits and memorabilia of the Queen before winding up in the sprawling gardens for an engaging light and sound show reconstructing pages from India’s history.

If you find yourself spending more time than usual lounging around the living room, binge-watching your favorite TV shows or having a Zoom meeting every other day, it may be time to rearrange the furniture. For optimal TV viewing, angle the sofa and side chairs so every spot feels like the best seat in the house. If you're trying to limit your screen time, position the chairs so that the coffee table (a perfect spot to play card games or lay out a board game or a puzzle) is the focal point.
To make the space as cozy as possible, you may need to pull in side chairs, throw in colorful throw cushions, rugs in modern weave and texture. Bright cheery colors will amp up the comfort we're all looking for right now.
