Oba Elegushi Fixes Oro Cult Ritual On Election Day
The traditional ruler of the Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom, Saheed Ademola (Kusenla III), has declared a three-day Oro rite on non-indigenes and women from midnight to 5:30 a.m., including on Saturday’s governorship and state assembly election day. In a memo issued to the residents of Ikate-Elegushi, the monarch announced that there would be a restriction of movement to perform the Oro rite in the community from Wednesday to Saturday. Residents of the community alleged there is a political motive for the curfew which will further disenfranchise women and non-indigenes from voting on election day. Others complained that it would paralysed commercial activities in the community. Temitope Oyefeso, the special assistant on media affairs to the Ikate Kingdom’s monarch, confirmed that an Oro rite is happening in the Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom. “Yes, there is an Oro rite happening in the Ikate kingdom. So, the Elegushi community council decided that residents and visitors should be in their houses from midnight to morning on Wednesday to Saturday,” Mr Oyefeso told Peoples Gazette. Mr Oyefeso debunked the allegation that it will affect election activities on Saturday, declaring, “We are not saying people should sit at home during the day like they have in other places.” He added, “Elections are held during the day, and by morning we will open the roads for people to come. It is a traditional rite. But unfortunately, it has come at this time. It is an annual event, and this is not the first time. We are not disrupting any process.” According to him, the Oro rite will bring peace to the community, adding that it happens in all communities within Lagos. Read the full article

Marketers, Communicators Renew Call For Gender Equity And Equality At WIMCA 2019
Tumblr media
…As they proffer strategies in Marketing to women In today’s world, marketers are currently seeking for new ways to connect and engage the female population globally, a population growing remarkably. According to Worldometers, female population stood at 49.56 % in 7.62 billion of the world's population in 2018. Specifically, in Nigeria’s marketing and communications industry, a women conference and awards tagged ‘Women In Marketing & Communications Conference/Award (WIMCA)’ has been at the forefront of renewing the call for gender equity and also chattering the way forward for professionals in deploying new ways of marketing to women and seek long time engagement. The third edition of WIMCA held on August 30, 2019 in Lagos themed “Better the Balance in the Brands and Marketing Communications Industry” was in line with the theme of International Women's Day (IWD) this year, 'Better the Balance'.

Tumblr media
Cross Section of WIMCA 2019 Awardees. Findings indicate that there are so many girls/ladies at the secondary and tertiary levels of education in Nigeria, in spite of this, few women are only at the top in the corporate world. A cursory look at the global scene revealed that the number of female CEOs in 2019 according to Fortune 500 now stands at 6.6%, a considerable jump from 2018’s total of 24 of 4.8%. Also, industry analysts reveal that, only four out of the top 20 Association Of Advertising Agencies Of Nigeria (AAAN) member agencies have women at the helm of affairs in different agencies. In the commercial banking sector, two out of the 21 commercial banks in Nigeria have female Chief Executive Officer. The ten major Media Independent agencies on the other hand do not have any woman as the head. Other sub-sectors of the industry cutting across both agency and clients’ side have very few women piloting the affair of their organisations. However, a good number of women are calling the shots as CMOs with opportunities for more women engagements on the client’s side of the business. Hence, according to the organisers of WIMCA, the event was designed to identify the current trends in marketing communications while addressing the career challenges of female marketing professionals. Corroborating on this, Joshua Ajayi, the Convener of WIMCA, and Publisher, Brand Communicator, said “For the past few editions of this conference, the theme of the International Women's Day (IWD) Celebration commemorated every March has always informed the theme of WIMCA, and this year is no different. Hence, the theme for this year's conference is ‘Better the Balance in the Brands & Marketing Industry,” after this year's IWD 'Better the balance' theme. “The theme is a reminder to us in this industry that the race is on for gender-balanced boardrooms, government, workforces, media coverage, income and wealth distribution among others. Interestingly, the industry, the nation, the continent and the world generally have in the few couple of years recorded history-defining achievements in gender balance, though, there is more to be done.” Speaking on the theme, Ademola Adebise, MD/CEO of Wema Bank and Keynote speaker, represented by Tunde Mabawonku, Chief Finance Officer at Wema Bank Plc said a lot of women in marketing and communications industry are doing great, he therefore urged women to support each other, be focus and be deliberate about their goals in the quest to ensure that more of them get to the top in their career and to the boardroom. Contemporary Trends In Marketing To Women Similarly, John Ugbe, CEO, MultiChoice Nigeria and keynote speaker also while speaking on contemporary trends in marketing to women explained that his organisation has more women who have risen to the top in their career and more are still springing up. He urged other organisations to deploy creative ways in addressing female related challenges. Proffering solution to a case study which involved an agency that has about 25 female staffs while 18 of them got pregnant at the same time, Ugbe suggested such an organisation should provide an enabling environment in terms of where they can get medical attention close by to make them comfortable and as well go all out to win the account of brands attracting pregnant women and mothers because the pregnant women in the agency can relate better with the brand than any other person. He added that his organisation will continue to seek more ways to empower women, one of which is the MultiChoice Women’s Forum. Meanwhile, during the panel discussion, moderated by Anurika Azubuike, Founder, Marketplace Innovation Africa, the panelists proffered new ways of marketing to women. Bukky Bandele, Marketing Director, Electricals Africa, HPZ, PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc said that today women are the biggest influencers and spenders and they are loyal once a brand is able to effectively engage with them. Bridget Oyefeso-Odusami, Head, Marketing and Communications, Stanbic IBTC said that women are really interested in the functionality of any goods or services they key into, explaining that more women invest 90 per cent of their earning in their financial and investment services. “We look at our customers and what their needs are and we offer them services that suit their needs. For instance, during the raining season where flooding is predominant, we educate our customers on how to stay safe and if you look at our business, the aspect of insurance brokage plays a major role here. “We create communication to encourage people to save and invest, and we do that through various technological means in which digital is one of them,” she said. On another note, Tolulope Adedeji, Marketing Director, AB InBev West Africa said that women are in the season of empowerment and are readily interested in anything that will empower them and make their lives better. Speaking further, she cited that in South Africa, an insight was gotten that more women were been abused at home by their husbands especially when their football teams lost and after taking beer, and as a beer company, AB InBev decided to launch campaign against domestic abuse with #No Excuse campaign and among others which helped grow their brand and at the same time reduced the vices. She added that women’s stereotypes and believes can also help build a brand. Similarly, Emmanuel Agu, Group Marketing Director, JOTNA Nigeria Limited pointed that in Television commercials and advertising campaigns generally women are often projected in a bad light either as a domestic worker or as a sex objects which is also often portrayed in the movies and musicals. He therefore explained that there is need for diversity which a balance of male and female in the work place and the need for organisations to stop lip services to issue of gender equality, “What an organization does is a reflection of who they are,” he said. Equity Vs Equality The issue of organisations choosing between equity and equality in their corporate philosophy has always been on the front burner. Equity is the quality of being fair and impartial while Equality is the state of being equal, especially in status, rights, or opportunities. At the second session of the conference, Dr Ndidi Nnoli-Edozien, Group Chief, Sustainability & Governance, Dangote Industries Limited who spoke on the sub-theme, ‘Better the Balance in the Work Place; Equity or Equality?’ said women in business are always dedicated and for them to find the way to the top they need to “define and understand the problem, align with a global movement.” She revealed that men usually networking, seal deals when at pubs, adding that they usually reach consensus before a board meeting. She therefore advised women to borrow a leaf from that, embark on networking, support each other to rise to the top and equally learn to complete favourably with men. Meanwhile, during the panel discussion moderated by Tosin Adefeko, Managing Director, AT3 Resources; Omobolanle Victor-Laniyan, Head, Sustainability, Access Bank Plc urged women to be more deliberate in their approach and stay on top of their trade irrespectively of men domination or not. She said that her organization, Access Bank has made the working environment easy for women irrespective of the stage of life they are. Charles Nnochiri, Head of Marketing, PZ Cussons, on his own part said that irrespective of being a man or woman, people should be treated equally and their expertise should be the criteria to pick a potential employee not necessarily the gender. He said that equity should be favoured ahead of equality. In the same vein, Caroline Oghuma, Executive Head, Corporate Affairs, MultiChoice Nigeria, stated that today’s organisations are making conscious effort to ensure equity in the workplace irrespective of the gender. She therefore urged women to be diligent and innovative in order to remain relevant in the work place. On a different note, Bunmi Oke, Managing Director, Ladybird Limited said both equity and equality are needed in the work place, pointed that all women have a role to play by being the best they can be, have a positive mindset, work hard and fight for what they want. Interestingly, the event was chaired by Udeme Ufot, Group Managing Director, SO&U while sectorial heads and members from NIMN, IAA, NIPR, AAAN and among others were also in attendance to give their support to women and WIMCA 2019. Award Winners are... Prominent and outstanding female marketing professionals in the Nigerian Integrated Marketing Communications industry were awarded from different sectors for their contributions to the growth of the industry. WIMCA since inception, has been a platform that recognizes, encourages and rewards excellent female professionals, brands and organisations for their contributions to their various industries and the country at large. Speaking before the award session, convener of the conference, Joshua Ajayi said “for this award, selection of the awardees went through a select panel of assessors for the various sub sectors to come out with the list of deserving female professionals,” he said. Elijah Oyefeso is a College Drop-Out Makes More Money
A few days ago, it was revealed that three-quarters of new university graduates will never repay their student loans.
With a cost of £ 9,000 a year, a minimum of £ 27,000 will be counted; the average debt is £ 57,000. It's painful.
With the accumulation of debt, Elijah Oyefeso dropped out of college, taught himself the ins and outs of the stock market and now claims to earn, on average, £ 80,000 a month. A bad month will make him between £ 20,000 and £ 30,000 (a full year of pay for most of us).
Elijah Oyefeso, who appeared on Channel 4's Rich Kids Go Shopping, said he used his student loan wisely to create his empire.
And, while most of us have to work a minimum of eight hours to get our dollar, he works for one hour maximum.
He now lives in a £ 5,000 monthly flat in Kensington and splashes on super cars - his latest addition being a £ 125,000 Mercedes GTS.
He told the Daily Mail: "On a good month, I earn between £ 70,000 and £ 80,000.
"If you work hard, you do not need to look at the price tag, you just get it."
He bought his first Mercedes at the age of 18, and quickly (understandably) became the envy of most of his friends.
Elijah Oyefeso, originally from Camberwell, London, said: "They come from the same place and they are still in the same area and have gone to school in the same area.
"My mother came from West Africa and arrived with probably 100 pounds in her pocket."
Elijah Oyefeso was studying business management at Buckingham University, which allowed him to invest in his own cash.
In just nine months he was earning tens of thousands of pounds on the stock market. While being filmed for a documentary, he made £ 1,000 in just 15 minutes
After three years of experience, Elijah Oyefeso says the key is when to stop.
The millionaire listens to classical music while he finishes his one-hour session. He said, "There's a saying, you're with whom you're slipping, I'm relaxing with people who have half a million in the bank.
"Gaining £ 20,000 to £ 30,000 a month, which is not good in my world, it motivates you to do more."
Elijah Oyefeso added that he now owns his childhood dream cars: "I worked for that, I got it."
His success led him to start his own company, DCT Training Group, which teaches others how to become a stockbroker. The free trial lasts five days, but users earn £ 107 a month.
"It's to help people learn the basics," said Elijah Oyefeso. "I tell them to go to this site or read this book."

Makarfi committee gets four extra months
During the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Special Non-Elective National Convention, the PDP extended the tenure of the party’s national caretaker committee, which is headed by Senator Ahmed Makarfi.
The committee, whose tenure expired on Saturday, was given another four months within which to organise a national convention where new national officers would be elected.
This was one of the resolutions passed and adopted by members of the party on Saturday.
Apart from organising a fresh election, the caretaker committee is also expected to settle all grievances by members of the party before leaving office.
With this extension, the tenure of the committee is expected to end on December 12, 2017.
A former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio, moved the motion for the extension of the tenure and was supported by a former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido.
The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, moved the motion for the dissolution and confirmation of the appointment of the caretaker committee for Anambra State. His motion was supported by a former Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Ina Ciroma.
The national caretaker committee had earlier given the sack to two factions of the state executive committee and appointed a former Minister of Health, Prof. ABC Nwosu, as the chairman of the caretaker committee.
Also, the party removed its executive committees in seven states where it said there were either rancorous delegates elections or where there were none at all.
The states affected are Lagos, Adamawa, Kebbi, Osun, Ogun, Borno, and Kwara. The caretaker committee was given three months to conduct fresh elections in the states.
Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo, moved the motion for the sacking of the state executives and was supported by his Abia State counterpart, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.
A former Minister of Information, Prof. Jerry Gana, also moved a motion for the confirmation of officers of the party in six geo-political zones of the country.
His motion, which was supported by a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Emeka Ihedioha, affected North-Central, North-East, North-West, South-West, North-Central, and South-South.
With this, the party seemed to have resolved the crisis in the affected zones, especially in the South-West where two factions recently held different meetings in the name of the party.
While Mr. Makanjuola Ogundipe claims he remains the party’s authentic chairman in the zone, the convention on Saturday crowned Mr. Eddy Oyefeso from Ondo State as the recognised chairman.
Speaking, Makarfi insisted that there were five failed attempts to stop the convention.
Makarfi paid glowing tribute to the Supreme Court, which he said bailed the party out of the 12-months crisis that affected its fortunes.
He said the party was getting ready to assume power in 2019 and wished ailing President Muhammadu Buhari quick recovery, adding that the PDP would like to defeat him and his party.
“We mean well for President Buhari and we pray that he comes back (from London) fit and resume work. We want to defeat him and the APC in good health come 2019,” the former governor of Kaduna State added.
He said the convention was dedicated to the Nigerian youths who he said: “are hungry and their parents have no money to pay for their school fees.”
Also speaking, Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, said the PDP  had recovered and returned to restore vibrancy and integrity to Nigeria’s democracy, and urged Nigerians to partner the party.
Okowa, who was the chairman of the convention committee, said that the past two years presented great challenges to the party.
He said the loss of presidential election and the gale of defections were enough to sink the party’s ship, but expressed delight that the party had overcome its challenges.
Describing the PDP’s travails as “baptism of fire,” Okowa said that the party had survived an untimely death and this was a testimony to the resilience of its grassroots’ structure, organisation, and appeal.
He said, “Ours is a party firmly anchored on the grassroots, connected to the people in a unique way that recognises that power truly belongs to the people.
“We are rebounding, realising that there is a champion in each of us in the party. A collective leadership and partnership, resolved to do things right, is all that we need to build the strength to recapture power.”
The committee chairman said the fact that the party became a victim of its own success was one of the sobering lessons that it learned from its defeat.
Also, the Chairman of the party’s Senate Caucus, Akpabio, assured Nigerians that the party would not support any separatist agenda in the country.
The lawmaker, who is also the Minority Leader of the Senate, condemned hate speeches in some parts of the country, adding that the unity of the country was non-negotiable.
He assured Nigerians of the PDP’s support for policies of the present administration, which are aimed at taking the country out of recession.
He, however, said the party would not support any policy that would plunge the country into the depression.

Taking in ancient rainforests, full moon beach-parties, futuristic Asian mega-cities and remote monasteries in the foothills of the Himalayas, Gap Year is a new, eight-part comedy drama from Tom Basden (Plebs, Fresh Meat, BBC’s forthcoming Quacks). It’s the story of British lads Dylan (Anders Hayward, Sistema) and Sean (BAFTA-nominated Ade Oyefeso, E4’s Youngers), childhood friends who have drifted apart, who initially set out to backpack through China but end up taking on the whole continent.
#gallery-0-4 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-4 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-4 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-4 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
On the road the pair quickly form a motley crew with the first fellow travellers they meet. Relentlessly upbeat Brit Greg (Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Tim Key, Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa, I Give It A Year) is trying to relive the highs of the Gap Year he nailed in the late 90s, refusing to deal with his crumbling marriage, business and life in general. He has latched himself onto two American students, conscientious Chinese-American May (Alice Lee, Switched At Birth) who’s in Beijing to re-connect with her long-lost family, and headstrong party-animal Ashley (Brittney Wilson, Rogue) who, at the insistence of May’s protective Mum, has been enlisted as May’s travelling companion – on May’s family’s dime.
But little does Sean know that his best mate, Dylan, a hopeless romantic and precocious philosophy student, has planned the trip with ulterior motives… Can Sean, who’s forgone a sure-fire ‘lads holiday’ to join Dylan in smoggy Beijing, accept the real reason for their long-haul getaway? And can May and Ashley, who have wildly different plans for their trip, have each other’s back no matter how far their vacation veers off course?
What begins as a disorientating, eventful and potentially disastrous holiday for all of them soon morphs into an unforgettable and joyous voyage of self-discovery, packed full of sun, sex and constant surprises over eight must-watch episodes. As our gang trek across China, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Nepal they soon learn that, no matter how far you go, you can never take a holiday from yourself.
Across Asia, the gang cross paths with a range of weird and wonderful people. Iconic American comedian and actor Janeane Garofolo (Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion, The Truth About Cats and Dogs) appears as Sam Bevan, an acerbic, jaded American travel writer who susses Dylan and Sean out in seconds. Comedian and actor Aisling Bea (The Fall) and Trystan Gravelle (National Treasure) play Kendra and Eugene, ever-bickering honeymooners that the gang meet on the Great Wall of China. Scott Adsit (Veep) plays Todd, the short-tempered American manager of a Vietnamese orphanage where the gang find themselves volunteering. BAFTA-winning Daniel Rigby (Flowers) plays Greg’s old school friend Jotty, a mega rich ex-pat who lives off champagne in Kuala Lumpar, and who with Bertie, Robert Bathurst (Cold Feet), Jotty’s debauched chum, take the motley crew out on the tiles for a memorable night in KL. Rounding out the cast as Lauren, Dylan’s high-achieving ex-girlfriend, is Rachel Redford (The Riot Club) and her on-again-off-again American boyfriend ‘Social’ Norm (Jamie Demetriou, Fleabag).
Created by actor-writer Tom Basden, Gap Year is written by Basden, James Wood (Rev, Ambassadors), Amy Roberts & Loren McLaughlin (Shameless, Cold Feet), Charlie Covell (Banana, Burn Burn Burn), Tim Key (We Need Answers, Screenwipe), Jonny Sweet (Together, Chickens) and Sam Leifer (Plebs). The series is produced by Tim Whitby, co-creators and exec producers are Jamie Campbell and Joel Wilson for the BAFTA-nominated production company Eleven. Award-winning director Jonathan van Tulleken (Off Season, Top Boy, Misfits) set the show up, directing the first block as well as the final episode.
The eight-part series was commissioned for E4 by Commissioning Editor for Drama Roberto Troni and will TX in February. eOne is the global studio on the show and controls worldwide rights to the series outside of the U.K and Carrie Stein, executive vice president of global production, oversees the series for eOne.

Led in evidence by his counsel, Mr Olanrewaju Ajanaku, Baruwa described himself as a community leader at Abesan, Lagos, and an academic who worked as a project supervisor at the Distant Learning Institution (DLI) of the university from 2010 to 2015. He said that the father of the complainant, also a community leader at Abesan Low Cost Housing Estate, where they both lived, was known to him and had approached him to aid his daughter to gain admission into the institution. Baruwa said that in the early hours of July 23, 2015, the man dropped off the teenager at his home and they both left for university for him to resume work and also to help her with admission. He said: “We arrived Unilag at 6.05a.m., and we went down to my friend’s office where I use as my study room as well as supervision contact. ”As we were going upstairs, we saw about seven Muslims observing their normal early morning prayer. “In the office, we were talking generally; then I offered her tea or coffee, she settled for coffee and she made it for herself. All this while, the door of the office was open and there was no way I could put on the air conditioner. “She told me that as a result of the coffee, she was feeling hot and that I would need to shut the door. I responded that it was too early in the morning (before 7a.m.) for us to be alone. “She told me to lock the door that after all, she was mature enough, and I did. After that, she picked up a textbook to read. She sat on a single chair while I sat on a three-seat chair.” The former lecturer said he fell asleep but was woken up after about 20 minutes by the complainant who, he claimed, was fondling him. “Her hands were all over me and I woke up and I looked at her. By then, she had already removed the buttons of her blouse and I did suck her breasts. “She said she needed to pull her white shirt so that it will not be stained and she had her jeans trousers on. We were romancing each other in that position, my lord. “She told me that she wanted me to have sex with her and I replied that there was no way I could practise unsafe sex with her; this was some minutes past 7a.m. . “She sucked my penis and I thereafter released, and around that time, one of my students came in, but we had dressed up,” Baruwa said. He said after the sexual contact, he, the complainant and the student went to the Commercial Center in the institution to make enquiries about her eligibility to study mass communication with her UTME score of 211. According to him, they got information that the score did not qualify her to write post UTME, and he advised her to apply to study English with the score. He said after they left the Commercial Center, the teenager went to see some friends and came to his office later to say farewell to him and thank him for his efforts in helping her to seek admission. Baruwa said: “She offered to give me a hug as a sign of appreciation and I obliged her, my lord. When we hugged, she moved her hands toward my penis. This was a few minutes after 10a.m. “There were a lot of students outside the office, they sat around the stairs waiting to go in for the next batch of lectures. I told her to be conscious of the students that were outside. “She threatened to shout and create a scene if I refuse to have sex with her and I told her like I did early in the morning that there was no way that I could have unsafe sex with her and she told me to look for a condom. “My lord, I was scared because I noticed the desperation in her. I left her in the office and went downstairs to look for a condom. When I returned, I locked the door and turned the other way to wear the condom. “When I turned back to meet her, she had already removed her jean trousers; that was how we had sex. About 10 to 15 minutes later, she told me that she was okay. I put back my clothes and went to the toilet to clean myself. We stayed in the office for another 20 minutes before I saw her off to the bus stop.” Baruwa denied raping the complainant and said he had known her before she was introduced to him by her father. According to him, he took her on three or four occasions to the university and he thought she was aged 23 years or 24 years, because she was plump, until she allegedly told him she was approaching her 19th birthday. Baruwa told the court that a week after the sexual encounters, he received a text message from the complainant’s father threatening to deal with him for what he did to his daughter. He said that on Aug. 3, 2015, he was arrested by the police who were accompanied by the complainant and her father. “It baffles me my lord, I got to realise that it was a complete set up because I contested against her father for the Chairmanship of Abesan Community Development Association, which I won. “I believe it is a way of getting at me. The complainant was never drugged by me, the coffee she took she prepared by herself. “We spent over five hours together and we were both active. There were no symptoms of being drugged, my lord. As far as I am concerned, I am innocent of the allegation against me,” he said. While cross-examining the defendant, Mr Y. G. Oshoala, a Deputy Director in the state Directorate of Public Prosecution, disputed Baruwa’s claim of innocence. “Did you inform her father that you would be having sexual intercourse with her? Do you know a child below 18 years is incapable of giving consent to sex? “If the sex was consensual, why does the medical report state that there was severe injury to her private part? Did her father give her to you as a wife? What will be your reaction if your personal office is used for sexual intercourse? “As a muslim, is it good conduct to have sexual intercourse with someone you are not married to? Why did you lie to the complainant’s father that you worked in Unilag and not DLI? Was it to prey on his daughter?” Oshoala queried. Oshoala submitted that a lot of Baruwa’s claims were not reflected in his statements to the police. Responding, Baruwa said: “I am not a permanent staff of Unilag, I do not work where they process admission, but I can make enquiries and assist. “I was not aware that she was not yet 18 years old. I would not be happy if my personal office was used for sexual intercourse, I didn’t expect us to have sex on that day. “I never told her father that she accompanied me to Unilag before; no religion permits having sex with someone other than your wife. I have no personal office in Unilag. “I never deceived people about the employment status at Unilag.” Following Baruwa’s cross-examination, Ajanaku informed the court that the former lecturer would be the sole defence witness, adding that the defence would consequently close its case. Justice Josephine Oyefeso adjourned the case until Oct. 10, for adoption of final written addresses. NAN reports that the prosecution alleges that the former lecturer raped the teenager at 9.25a.m. on July 23, 2015, in Room 8, at the Faculty of Business Administration Annex building of the University of Lagos. The alleged rape occurred when she was in his office to make arrangements for her admission into the university. Following the rape allegation, the university put up a disclaimer in respect of Baruwa. Rape violates Section 258 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011, and can be punished with up to life imprisonment. Read the full article
