Gift Giving Bumblebee x Reader
Dec 6
Tumblr media
Look at that cute face
Fyi, I make sure to always use real lyrics for Bumblebee xD List at the end as proof.
Spotify is my best friend when writing Bumblebee.
As much as I love him, writing the bay version is tough. Always searching for lyrics that fit.
It's a little rushed, but better late than never right?
It's pure fluff
🎶Give it to me baby-Boots with the fur-tonight🎶1
“You want my boots?”
The yellow scout nods, pointing at your shoes.
“I mean sure, but why?”
🎶It's a wonderful surprise🎶2
“But that's no American tradition though.”
🎶Cuz I don't care🎶3
“So you wanna gift me something through St. Nicholas Day?”
🎶I love you, always forever🎶4
“Love you too, Bee. I'll give you my boots later, alright?”
He buzzes excitedly.
“Ey Bee, I need you on patrol with me.”, Jazz talks over the comm link.
Bumblebee’s antannae fold back and he whirrs a little annoyed.
You pat his cheek, smiling.
“I know, we rarely see each other, but this is important. I'll be here for a while.”
Another sad buzz echoes from his vocalizer, before he transforms and drives away.
Later in the evening you receive a message from Bee, asking you to put your boots outside your door.
“Okay, that's actually cute.”, you chuckle while walking outside.
Hearing someone round the corner you quickly walk back inside, leaving your shoes where Bee asked you to put them.
He has been busy lately with training under the new agreements between earth's government.
Daily exercises for the soldiers where they have to learn how to fight Deceptions.
And when he wasn't busy with that, he had to go on routine patrols.
When you wake up the next day, the first thing you do is checking outside to find your boots filled with Christmas chocolate and a note saying ‘I love you my honeybee’
Quick on your way back inside with the shoes in your hand, you put them down onto a chair, admiring what has been put in them.
“Oh, he even bought new headphones.”, you say, holding the packaging.
Taking your phone out of your pant's pocket, you dial the access code for his comm link, holding the device to your ear, waiting for him to respond.
“Bee, that's very cute, but you didn't have to do that..”, you say as he picks up with an excited buzz.
🎶I'm hopelessly devoted to you🎶5
“Where you at right now?”
🎶By the hangar🎶6
“Alright, wait for me there.”
A few minutes later, you walk into the wide open hangar where that yellow Bot you have grown to love stands waiting.
🎶Hello🎶7
“Hey there, Bee.”, you say smiling.
🎶How was it for you-Christmas present🎶8
“It was so sweet, thank you Bee.”, you say while walking up to him.
The scout crouches down to be more on your level and whirrs happily.
🎶Because I'm happy🎶9
You smile as you stand before him.
“So, gift giving?”
The scout buzzes confused.
“It's your love language.”
His optics widen, antannae standing up now as you said that.
“Don't worry, I love you too Bee. I figured something was up.”
Hugging him, as much as the size difference allowed, you couldn't stop smiling.
🎶You can be my safety zone-Nothing can come between You and I🎶10
You chuckle as you look at him, a hand on his cheek.
🎶You ready?🎶11
“Let's see how the others will react…”
Bee chuckles.

Why You Really Shouldn’t Make Your Own Sunscreen
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This summer, some influencers have jumped on the bandwagon of posting TikToks of themselves making sunscreen at home after a popular influencer did so. Experts are now warning people not to make DIY sunscreen as it can be dangerous.
Influencer Nara Smith, 22, who is known for sharing videos of herself making everything from cereal to cough drops from scratch, posted a TikTok in June of her husband, Lucky Blue Smith, mixing together coconut, beeswax, shea butter, cocoa butter, jojoba oil, and zinc oxide powder to create sunscreen (the latter is a main ingredient in many mineral-based sunscreens). Since then, her video has received about 2 million likes. And others—like TikToker Avery Cyrus, 24, who has 9.3 million followers—have also shared videos of themselves making their own sunscreen.

@averycyrus Next time you forget your sunscreen, just make some! ♬ original sound – Avery Cyrus
But some dermatologists have expressed concern over DIY sunscreen, making their own social media posts and cautioning people not to do so.
@brookejeffymd Please don’t make SPF at home, guys; just don’t do it…. #SPF #Dermatologist #Sunscreen #DIY ♬ original sound – Dr. Brooke Jeffy
“The dangers related to homemade sunscreen is, bottom line, it’s not going to protect your skin how it should,” says Dr. Aamna Adel, a dermatologist based in London. “Just because it contains zinc oxide … does not mean that it’s going to be protecting you against UV rays.” People who make their own sunscreen will “be increasing their risk of sunburn [and] developing skin cancer.” (Adel has done some paid campaigns for brands that have sunscreen products in the past.)
A representative for Smith declined TIME’s request for comment, and a representative for Cyrus did not respond.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulates sunscreens as nonprescription drugs. Products on the market “have to undergo extensive testing,” says Dr. Brooke Jeffy, a dermatologist based in Scottsdale, Ariz. Dermatologists say there are a few reasons why making sunscreen yourself can be dangerous. First, the process of making sunscreen is quite complicated—the formulas are precise and can be difficult to replicate at home. And second, there’s no way to know how much protection a homemade sunscreen will offer you. Because of that, your sunscreen may have inconsistent or ineffective coverage, which could increase your risk of skin cancer and lead to premature signs of aging, like wrinkles and sun spots.
“Let’s say you use 15% zinc, but you’re adding other things into it. So do you really have that same percentage in your final product? How do you really know that you have what you think you have?” says Dr. Doris Day, a dermatologist based in New York City.
“It’s not that easy to make a mineral-based sunscreen and have it spread easily and smoothly,” Day says.
@drdorisday #stitch with @Nara Smith Skip the viral homemade #sunscreen trend and opt for pure mineral sunscreens that are preservative-free. Exposure to UV wavelengths increases the risk of skin cancer and premature aging — especially without sufficient zinc oxide protection. If you’re looking for a skincare DIY project this summer, consider options that hydrate the skin or provide post-sun care instead. ♬ original sound – drdorisday
Some dermatologists say that even if Smith’s video wasn’t meant to be taken seriously, they worried that people may try the recipe themselves
Concerns about the potential health risks associated with the ingredients in chemical sunscreens have bubbled up over the past few years. The DIY videos are a reaction to that, says Jeffy: “I think it’s sort of based on a couple of misconceptions that are out there that sunscreens are harmful, and that you are safer to be making products yourself.” But the FDA, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and medical associations all recommend using sunscreen because it can help prevent skin cancer. Jeffy suggests that anyone worried about chemical-based products use mineral sunscreens instead.
Kate Ring, a 43-year-old TikTok influencer who lives in Kent, U.K., has also posted videos of her homemade sunscreen recipe, which she’s been using for years because she was concerned about the ingredients in sunscreens on the market. She says she’s not phased by warnings from doctors and public-health officials, arguing that the process to make sunscreen is “not complex at all.”
“I am by no means an expert,” Ring says. “Obviously, I didn’t go put it on and then go and bake out in the sun for eight hours. I tested it over weeks actually, and over time periods to make sure that I was getting it right.”
But Jeffy questions how effective at-home “testing” like that actually is. And experts say that not visibly burning is not an indication of being adequately protected from the sun.
Day says that if someone doesn’t want to listen to dermatologists, that’s their decision—but that, “unfortunately,” some people may listen to those influencers over experts.
“My interest is protecting people from misinformation and products that can be damaging to their skin,” Day says. “All I can do is give information and hope that it makes sense.”

100 Films of 1952
Film number 95: Aaron Slick from Punkin Crick
Release date: April 12th, 1952.
Studio: Paramount
Genre: Musical
Director: Claude Binyon
Producer: William Pearlberg, George Seaton
Actors: Alan Young, Dinah Shore, Robert Merrill, Adele Jergens
Plot Summary: Josie is a country girl who dreams of selling her farm and living in the city. She also wants to marry her neighbor Aaron, but he loves the country and never wants to leave. When some big city guests arrive, Josie is dazzled, but all is not what it seems. Suddenly they announce they want to buy her farm...
My Rating (out of five stars): **½
During Project 1952 I saw an ad for this film in a magazine, and I thought, “WTF? Is that actually real?!” Indeed it is. Unfortunately, the film lived up to my worst stereotypical expectations for a story about “country folk versus city folk.” The “country folk” were ridiculously idealized and the city folk were ridiculously villainized.
The Good:
Dinah Shore. She was easily the most charismatic and enjoyable actor in the movie. I really like her singing voice as well- it reminds me a lot of Doris Day’s.
The Technicolor. As usual, I stan Technicolor. The print of the film I saw was quite poor, but even so, the color was luscious.
There was a lot of music. This is a musical that barely takes a breath to stop singing, which was a big plus for me.
The costumes were gorgeous. The film takes place in the early 1900s- it looked very Edwardian- and the period costumes were beautiful, colorful, and fun. (Ooh, I just discovered that Edith Head was the designer here, so that makes sense!)
The Bad:
The cast overall was kinda blah. Aside from Shore, no one else really pulled me in. Alan Young was cute as Aaron but not terribly interesting.
The music was not the most memorable. None of the songs were bad, but they certainly weren’t bangers. The only one I can remember after having just finished the film is the opening “Chores” number.
The characters were very one dimensional with little to no depth.
It was way too simplified in terms of country vs city. The country folk lived in a paradise of harmony and simplicity- they were all good people who loved going to church and dancing on the weekends. The city folk were cynical snobs, con men, criminals, and bawdy chorus girls. I know it’s just a comedy, but it was incredibly annoying and insulting. Especially as someone who has lived large portions of my life in both the city and the country.
I got bored more than once with the story and had a hard time staying focused. Once Josie went to the city things kind of fell apart for me.
Here’s an example from the opening song of the insipid “country vs city” stuff: “The country girls are natural folk, they like to laugh and like to joke. City girls are learning to smoke behind the parlor doors.”
Oh, and yet again we get more jokes about men slapping their women around. During a fight, a guy says to his fiancé, “Oh my sweetheart, how I look forward to marrying you and being arrested for wife-beating!” Facepalm.
And why does the guy get his name in the title when the woman is the main protagonist? Yes, yes, I know, “Aaron Slick” and “Punkin Crick” rhyme, but it could easily have been “Josie Slick from Punkin Crick,” couldn’t it? I just thought it was weird that she didn’t get first billing in her own film. (But not terribly surprising in some ways!)

Monday, 23 January 2023:
Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars David Bowie (Parlophone) (originally released in 1972, this reissue came out in 2015)
Just as I am assessing my need, or rather my lack of need for any more Bowie boxed sets (after Divine Symmetry I am finished with purchasing those ‘book’ box sets; I will finish up his ‘career boxes’ as there can only be one or two remaining--two if they release a Tin Machine box, but I have no further need for an endless array of Bowie BBC Sessions or Bowie live sets which also means giving up buying the endless live releases that Record Store Day dishes out; likewise for the idea of alternate albums all of which is contingent on how tempting a ‘book box set of Low or any of the Berlin Trilogy looks), this album pops up in Walmart of all places!
I’ve never in my life seen a Bowie album at Walmart.  That doesn’t mean they don’t stock them, it’s I’ve been looking at their stock for at least five years now and I have never seen any Bowie.  I wasn’t even going to look at their record selection because I know they are stocking a certain album I’ve been chasing for years (and almost bought just recently) in mid February and I will snap it up on that day.  Knowing this, I knew there was nothing else I was chasing but still I checked their stock.  You can now buy Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison on some color of vinyl I’ve already forgotten what the color is. (If you go to Walmart’s site they have two variants of colored vinyl with a price of $103 per album!  There are extenuating circumstances for this ridiculousness, but I’m too bored to go in to the reasons.)  But that was the only new thing I saw on their shelves.  They still have about a thousand copies of the new Adele album that will still be on their shelves when she releases 64.
I’ve long considered going backwards and buying Bowie on vinyl.  Original releases of Bowie albums are now cost prohibitive and I’m not that huge of a Bowie fan to drop that kind of money, so reissues suit me fine.  For a very long time the only three albums I owned on vinyl from Bowie were shamefully ChangesOneBowie, Let’s Dance and the Ryko Sound + Vision box.  I still have two of the three (I long ago dumped Let’s Dance) but I carry no romantic vision of owning original Bowie albums.  I’ve long claimed I’m not a Bowie fan and that was true for an astonishing period of time even though I diligently bought those Ryko CD reissues but even that was half hearted.  The only Bowie albums I bought in real time (save for the three previously mentioned albums) began with The Next Day and moved forward.  That’s how little into Bowie I was.
To be frank, I’m far more of a late era Bowie fan than an early years fan!  Early Bowie doesn’t do a thing for me.  I’m a bigger fan of David Bowie (on Deram) than I am of David Bowie (on Mercury).  As for The Man Who Sold The World and Hunky Dory, well, let’s just say I like them as much as I like Bob Dylan’s fourth album and I love Bob Dylan.  Give me Ziggy Stardust and Aladdin Sane but you can definitely have Young Americans.  I have all of that album I’ll ever desire on ChangesOneBowie.  For my taste, Bowie finally revs up into excellence with Station To Station and then I’m more than satisfied with his studio work (well, there are drawbacks, but then that is how a musical career as long as Bowie’s works, same with Dylan or Neil Young).  And as long as I’m talking foolish (or sacrilege) for my money Bowie’s greatest album is Blackstar (or maybe Scary Monsters).
Anyhow, when I saw Ziggy at Walmart, I didn’t even hesitate, I snapped it up and threw it into my cart along with the rest of the groceries I could find today.  You know as well as I do grocery shopping involves going to at least three stores before you can find everything you need.  Although today I hit up five stores and still can home without several items that just aren’t in stock (the bread I buy for example is nowhere to be found).
So, will Walmart continue stocking Bowie albums?  I cannot imagine the day I’ll bump into any other Bowie album but Let’s Dance and I’m not in any hurry to own another copy outside of the CDs I have of his work.  (I like Let’s Dance just fine, I spent a lot of time with it when I listened to his Loving The Alien box, matter of fact I thought it was the best thing in that box.)
Above are the album cover and the back of the album.  Below you will find both sides of the inner sleeve.  The inner sleeve has a unique cut to it which I assume is just like the original version.  I like that companies are including a facsimile of the original inner sleeve and then putting the album inside a second sleeve that has anti-static plastic in it.  (And the other surprise about this album was the price!  Walmart generally always charges $27 to $35 per album but this was priced at $22, a pure steal from their normal price point.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The last two photos are of both sides of the labels.  I have said it before but I shall say it again: I enjoy how record companies now do record labels by paying homage to the original label that artist was on.  For those unaware, the label here is a replica of the 70s RCA labels.

365 DC Comics Paper Cut-Out SuperHeroes - One Hero, Every Day, All Year…
March 5th - Starman

Several heroes have operated under the mantel of Starman. The first was Ted Knight, a wealthy heir who lived in Opal City. A passionate scientist, Knight studied astronomy and discovered a special kind of star-based energy. Aided by Professor Abraham Davis, Knight created a device they called the Gravity Rod that could absorb and utilize this energy. This rod could be used for flight, energy projection, and several other applications. Knight decided to take on the identity of Starman, and use the gravity rod to fight crime. As Starman, he became the defender of Opal City and a member of the Justice Society of America. He served among The All-Star Squadron during the Second World War. Following his retirement from super heroics, Knight married Adele Doris Drew and that had two sons, David and Jack. Adele passed away and David chose to assume his father’s mantle as the new Starman. Sadly, his career proved short and he was killed by his father’s old adversary, The Mist. This prompted Jack to take up the mantle to avenge his brother’s death. Jack operated as Starman for a time, serving among the new iteration of The Justice Society. He eventually retired as well and passed along the gravity rod, now refashioned into a ‘cosmic staff’ to Courtney Whitemore who now uses it as Stargirl. Other heroes called Starman include Mikaal Tomas of the planet Talok III, Prince Gavyn of The Throneworld, and Will Payton. The original version of Starman first appeared in Adventure Comics #61 (1941); The David Knight version first appeared in Starman #26 (1990); Jack Knight first appeared Zero Hour: Crisis in Time #1 (1994); Mikaal Tomas first appeared in 1st Issue Special #12 (1976); Prince Gavyn first appeared in Adventure Comics #467 (1980); and Will Payton first appeared in Starman #1 (1988).

What are your boys’ favorite songs to sing karaoke to?
Tumblr media
Kylo - Let’s be honest, Kylo has no business singing karaoke. He’d pick something horribly inappropriate or dark. His options would range from Sweet Dreams by Marilyn Manson, Pony by Far, or Closer by Nine Inch Nails.
He’ll lose it if you sing him something sultry like Blue Jeans or Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Rey or Skyfall by Adele. He’ll never admit it, but he loves how the lyrics of Wildest Dreams by Taylor Swift fit him.
Kylo’s not a dancer but if you ask him to dance with you, he’ll give 100% effort and even go the extra mile to learn and train on his own. He’ll do anything for you. Except refrain from trying to fuck you right out on the dance floor.
Tumblr media
Flip - He will want something fun that will suit his deep rough voice. Folsom Prison by Johnny Cash, Hello I Love You by The Doors, or even Lil Red Riding Hood by Sam the Sham and the Pharoahs when he’s feeling more playful. He also likes Keep on Rocking Me Baby by the Steve a Miller Band, even if he can’t match the pitch. If it’s just the two of you, he’ll wrap his arms around you, swaying with you, while huskily singing I Can’t Help Falling In Love by Elvis or Lay Lady Lay by Bob Dylan.
He loves it when you get all sexy and sing him Fever by Peggy Lee.
Don’t let his gruff exterior fool you. This lumberjack can cut a rug with the best of them and move those hips in lots of ways that make you smile outside of the bedroom. He can also do a pretty damn good Elvis impersonation.
Tumblr media
Pale - “Are you fuckin’ kiddin’ me, sweetheart?” If you actually convince him to do it through some kind of elicit bargaining, he will sing you something sarcastic and classy. Puttin’ on the Ritz by The Stray Cats or Minnie the Moocher by Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen are up his alley.
You enjoy teasing him back with Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps by Doris Day or Big Bad Handsome Man by Imelda May.
Pale’s version of dancing is grinding against your ass while you’re putting on makeup or doing the dishes. Occasionally, he’ll treat you to a dance out in the proper setting.
Tumblr media
Charlie - He loves the classics that he can swing you around to while he sings to you. Even if he’s singing karaoke, he’s still only singing to you. L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole and The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra are some of his favorites. For something more contemporary, he might dip into The Shape of You by Ed Sheeran. His guilty pleasure is singing Michael Buble in the shower. @iamakiller and @direnightshade can vouch for this.
When you bust out a classic yourself like Feeling Good by Nina Simone, he goes crazy for you.
Charlie can dance with you alll night. Slow dancing. Ballroom dancing. You name it. He’s the consummate showman, after all.
Tumblr media
Clyde - Night Moves by Bob Seger or Sweet Home Alabama by Lynrd Skynyrd. Sometimes he’ll dip into the Beatles and sing you A Taste of Honey because it reminds him of you. For something modern, he loves to sing you Tennessee Whiskey by Chris Stapleton.
He blushes and kisses you halfway through your rendition of This Kiss by Faith Hill.
Clyde’s wonderful at slow dancing, if by slow dancing you mean upright cuddling and making out.
Tumblr media
Dan - Dan’s a smooth operator who will sing you something like Ain’t No Sunshine by Al Green, Moondance by Van Morrison, or After Midnight by JJ Cale.
He loves it when you sing him something chill like Baby I Love Your Way by Bob Marley or Because the Night Belongs to Lovers by 10,000 Maniacs.
Adding some extra guys in here because these images just popped into my head!
Tumblr media
Ronnie - Because I Got High by Afroman. Perhaps while dancing in his boxers and smoking a joint.
Tumblr media
Sackler - If you promise you’ll reward him properly, he’ll bust out Genie in A Bottle by Christina Auguilera complete with his best moves.
And just for fun, a couple more lovely gifs I just found on Pinterest.

WARNING: Controversial Opinion.
If you are a Jonas Brothers fan, One Direction/Harry Styles fan, Justin Bieber fan, Billie Eilish fan, Nicki Minaj fan, Cardi B fan, Post Malone fan, Halsey fan, BTS fan, and/or other modern pop/rap music fan, I don’t recommend reading the rest of my post.
I saw that Nick Jonas will be hosting and performing on SNL tonight. With this, I still don’t understand why Lorne Michaels hasn’t let Mariska Hargitay, Ice-T, Matthew Gray Gubler, or even the Impractical Jokers host yet. I mean, come on, Lorne let Halsey host for some unknown reason.
I pretty much hinted in the past that I’m not a modern pop or rap music fan. I used to like the Jonas Brothers when I was a kid, but I grew out of that Jonas Brothers phase when I was 11. Same goes for Disney Channel in general, such as the other rising stars of Disney at that time such as Miley, Demi, and Gomez. As for Justin Bieber and One Direction, I never liked them, and I was in the age group who were obsessed with them at the time. I also never liked boy bands in general. I can’t tell the difference between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, and I really don’t understand the appeal of Post Malone, BTS, Harry Styles, or Billie Eilish. Yet, my dad jokes that I’m a Belieber when he knows I despise Bieber with a burning passion. My dad also makes fun of Michael Bublé, knowing that I do like Michael Bublé. He never makes fun of my sister’s favorite singers or bands. And of course, I don’t need to get into why I hate Sia or Chris Brown.
Speaking of Michael Bublé, instead of getting into Bieber in 2010 when I was 12, I got into jazz music, big band music to be precise. Thanks, 40s on 4 of SiriusXM. The first jazz artists I loved from that radio station were Peggy Lee, the Andrews Sisters, Billie Holiday, Woody Herman, and Doris Day. And my love for jazz music continued to grow with the likes of the Rat Pack, Nat “King” Cole, Norah Jones, Jane Monheit, Ella Fitzgerald and so many others, including Michael Bublé. (Despite this, I have a sensory issue with Louis Armstrong’s singing voice.)
It’s not like I don’t love other music genres: I love older R&B, classic rock, rock, singer/songwriter, indie, older pop music, and modern pop singers like P!nk, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Avril Lavigne, Michelle Branch, Vanessa Carlton, Adele and some others.
So yes, this is my music rant. Please don’t interact if I offended you by not liking your favorite singers. I just want Mariska Hargitay, Ice-T, Matthew Gray Gubler, and the Impractical Jokers to host. Elizabeth Olsen should host, too.

Amada mía
.
Amada mía
Love me forever
And let forever begin tonight
.
Amada mía
When we're together
I'm in a dream world
Of sweet delight
.
Many times I've whispered
Amada mía
It was just a phrase
That I heard in plays
I was acting a part
.
But now when I whisper
Amada mía
Can't you tell I care
By the feeling there
'Cause it comes from my heart
.
I want you ever
I love my darling
Wanting to hold you
And hold you tight
.
Amada mía
Love me forever
And let forever
Begin tonight
.
Many times I've whispered
Amada mía
It was just a phrase
That I heard in plays
I was acting a part
.
But now when I whisper
Amada mía
Can't you tell I care
By the feeling there
'Cause it comes from my heart
.
I want you ever
I love my darling
Wanting to hold you
And hold you tight
.
Amada mía
Love me forever
And let forever
Begin tonight
And let forever
Begin tonight
And let forever
Begin tonight

Why You Really Shouldn’t Make Your Own Sunscreen

But some dermatologists have expressed concern over DIY sunscreen, making their own social media posts and cautioning people not to do so.
