I had a very odd dream where a train (or bus?) I was on got yanked into another world. While my dream had nothing to do with SVSSS, it did have my waking self thinking about how hilarious and/or horrifying such a thing could be as an AU.

Imagine Shen Yuan riding the subway, train or bus one day, when something happens and his whole car gets yanked into the world of PIDW. Nobody else in the car knows anything about PIDW, so Shen Yuan finds himself with the self imposed task of keeping this eccentric group of strangers alive in a weird world full of demons, monsters, and aphrodisiac plants.

The group’s first assumption would probably be that they’re still on modern earth, and just got teleported somewhere. Their second assumption, if they come across common folk, might be they somehow ended up in the past.

Then they run into some monster, or people riding on swords with specific uniforms, or a commoner mentions a name or event only Shen Yuan recognizes. The rest of the party debates what sort of Xianxia or Wuxia world they’ve ended up in, while poor Shen Yuan sweats bullets. He knows exactly what world they are in, and they are so screwed.

I have this image of poor beleaguered nerd Shen Yuan successfully protecting and leading this group of primary school kids, their cute teacher, and a handful of grannies and grandpas, while all the other adults and older teens keep wandering off and getting themselves in trouble.

I made him a custom hair with a lighter undercut - I’m mostly happy with it, probably could’ve shifted it a shade closer to his skintone but the texturing was weird no matter what :P And his stripey shirt! just found out about the hdg and I definitely don't vibe with it. It almost captures my interest but the hard stance opposition towards exploring the implications that come with a self designated benevolent empire that can solve the inherent problems that come from cultures who are supposedly inferior in some way by nature really like, both rubs me the wrong way and feels like a disservice to the setting itself.

idk just looking at every empire in history it's like, that's literally what they all say and how they justify colonizing others. It's kinda really fucking hard to just take at face value. If imperialist colonizers who just happen to be legimately nicies to the people they colonize is like, ur thing then absolutely jack off to it I'm not here to judge that, just like, own that I guess? But if your argument for them is just that narratively speaking it's just true then my interest in your setting, horny or otherwise just does not exist.

The contradiction of the setting also bothers me, 25-45% of any given species will be domesticated on average but the space between that and rebellion just doesn't seem to be accounted for in the wiki, what is the life of someone not opposed to the empire but also who doesn't volunteer for domestication? How much of their own cultures are retained within the empire? It really seems like the only option for any autonomy in the setting is rebellion but that's also only ever seen as a bad thing.

I just get caught on the whole "affini are imperial" and "affini are benevolent" thing in the axioms section of the hdg wiki. My mixed race ass cannot really look at an invading empire calling itself the good guys without my own personal baggage about it weighing in, ya'feel?

after thinking and pondering on Spider saving Miles I realize that I can’t blame him for doing so cause I would have done the same thing at his age, heck I probably would have done it now

as a kid I really wanted to meet my biological father one day even tho I knew he didn’t want to be my dad. Around 16, Spider’s age, I started to come to terms with this but still wished I could meet him. even now 4 years later I sometimes wonder what it would’ve been like to meet him

So yea if I had the chance to save him I probably would, not cause I love him! HELL NO, my love for coffee is greater than the non-existent love I have for this man. nah it’d be so that I could satisfy that curiosity I’ve had for all my life by asking him a question or two and actually getting to see what he looks like

He’s a transgender man (born with a vagina, socialized as female as a child), who is non-op (for the most part) and occasionally gender nonconforming, meaning he doesn’t physically pass as what’s considered fully masculine with a flat chest, deep voice, etc. and hasn’t done much to medically transition out side of magically reversible top surgery and minor masculinization (done through magic) because he simply doesn’t feel the need to. He isn’t “fully” transitioned in a lower area surgical sense either, and hasn’t gotten a hysterectomy or phalloplasty (where surgeons create a penis for you and lengthen your urethra, as well as remove your vagina and ovaries), even though he could if he wanted to. He’s not someone made dysphoric by having a uterus/period/getting pregnant, either, and has had kids ~the natural way~(some of their kids were adopted, though), and likes having breasts except when they’re too inconvenient lol
