rescuedogsrocknyc PLEASE READ : It pains us to have to send out a plea like this, but we are left with NO choice. We are struggling to stay afloat right now. Our funds are dangerously low & it’s just not getting any better. In fact, it’s getting worse. Our vet bills alone were $50,000 last week! We are spending more than we are raising & the math just isn’t working. Without continuous incoming donations, we cannot pay our bills and therefore, cannot say yes to dogs in need. We see other rescues closing daily. They just can’t continue in today’s circumstances. We understand & we sympathize. How can we not?! We are facing the very same obstacles every single day. The LAST thing we want to do is close intake, but we need help & we are begging for help now. We founded RDR NYC 7 years ago & we have placed about 9000 animals. We are so proud of all the dogs (& cats) who were saved & given the gift of life. We could not have done this without your generous help & support & for that we are forever grateful. The obstacles we are facing now are not just RDR issues, they are rescue community issues: -very difficult to place even “easy” dogs -lack of fosters -lack of adopters -for every dog adopted, we are getting 2 or 3 dogs returned, some adopted 5+ years ago -harder dogs declining in boarding -24/7 messages & pleas for help -compassion fatigue is real & impacts us all -donations down We are showing you some of the dogs we have saved in 2022. She was found abandoned and alone, wandering the harsh Texas streets. From there she ended up in a high kill shelter where she was scheduled to be euthanized after 2 extensions. We just could not let that happen to this sweet and innocent angel. Jasmine is absolutely gorgeous. All it takes is one look into those soulful eyes and it’s love at first sight! #Repost @rescuedogsrocknyc ・・・ 🐾🐾Update on Hoodina🐾🐾❤️ We posted Hoodina earlier this week Here is her story : Her own family drove her 20 miles away and tossed her outside of the car. Amazingly, she found her way home; determined to be with her people. Upon arrival, they loaded her back into their car and dropped her off again, leaving her tied to a post. She chewed through the cords and went BACK HOME where the neighbors shot her for killing their chickens. A lady took her home, got her spayed and tied her outside, but she didn't receive any medical treatment for her shoulder. She cannot use her front left leg and if you look at the photo it is raised off the ground and swollen .Her finder explained that she was in a great deal of pain after she was SHOT but she’s not in any pain now 😞 and just limping as a result The white chained Shepard is also safe with another rescue 👍 Both are en route to San Antonio to the Vet Hoodina is safely at our San Antonio Vet Partner and X-rays of Her shoulder reveal that the entire area including her leg are damaged so severely that her front leg will need amputation , unfortunately Sadly because the injury occurred months ago , surgery is not an option We also have learned that after she was shot in the shoulder , she wasin a great deal of pain for weeks , living outside with no medical care We can’t understand why her finder OR THE VET that spayed her , failed to give her proper medical attention for her shoulder Now ,sadly Hoodina will lose her leg But you can see how amazing her personality is and love for humans and other dogs CAN YOU HELP !?
