A highly contagious and virulent virus is sweeping through domestic and wild swine populations across the world, decimating those in Asia, Europe, and Africa. The near-100% fatality rate threatens food security, ecosystems and the lives and traditions of millions. African Swine Fever (ASF) is probably the most devastating viral disease you have never heard of. Cultural practices centuries-old are at risk of extinction. Diets are dramatically shifting, placing an unsustainable burden on an already strained socio-ecological environment. Low- and lower-middle-income countries are bearing the brunt of this catastrophic pandemic, but few seem to care beyond the protection of domestic pork production. Would it be the same if experts were to predict that not a single American household would celebrate Thanksgiving with a turkey in 2024?

Swine Fever Vaccine: A Potential Lifesaver for Pigs Around the World
Origins and Spread of Swine Fever African swine fever virus (ASFV) is a large DNA virus that was first identified in the early 20th century in Kenya. It is highly contagious among pigs and wild boar. The disease has since spread to many sub-Saharan African countries as well as parts of Europe and Asia. In recent years, ASFV has caused severe outbreaks and significant economic losses in Eastern Europe and China. Its ability to survive for long periods in uncooked pork products has aided its transmission over long distances. With globalization and increased movement of people and goods, the threat of ASFV spread to other pig-raising regions remains high. Challenges of Developing an Effective Vaccine Developing a vaccine against Swine Fever Vaccine has proven exceptionally challenging for several reasons. First, ASFV is a very large and complex virus unlike other common livestock pathogens. This complex structure makes it difficult for the immune system to generate protective antibodies against it. Second, there are no cell culture systems or small animal models available for consistent vaccine testing. Researchers must rely on infected pig trials for efficacy evaluations. These limitations have hindered traditional vaccine approaches using killed or attenuated virus versions. Novel vaccine strategies targeting specific ASFV genes are now being explored but require extensive safety testing before use in massive pig populations. Considerable resources and time are needed for vaccine development, testing, and regulatory approval. Promising New Vaccine Candidates Emerging In recent years, advances in viral genomics and gene-editing technologies have provided new opportunities for ASFV vaccine research. Chinese and European scientists have identified particular ASFV genes responsible for virulence. By deleting these genes, they have generated attenuated live vaccine candidates that induce protective immunity without disease in pig trials. Separately, researchers at the University of Florida developed a subunit vaccine containing a key ASFV protein formulated with an oil-based adjuvant. In preliminary tests, this synthetic vaccine demonstrated the ability to protect 100% of immunized pigs against lethal challenge. While more studies are still required, these modified live and subunit vaccine approaches show the most promising results to date. Large-Scale Production Challenges Ahead Even if an effective swine fever vaccine is proven through extensive field trials, major challenges remain for its widespread adoption and use in practice. Mass production under stringent quality control will need to meet the enormous demand from huge swine industries, especially in China and Europe. Ensuring proper cold chain management during transport and storage will be critically important for temperature-sensitive live vaccines. Achieving widespread coverage through multiple immunizations will pose logistical difficulties. Farmers may be reluctant to adopt an unproven new vaccine in places currently unaffected by the disease. Establishing an affordable pricing structure acceptable to different countries and farm sizes will also take rigorous economic modeling and negotiation with manufacturers. Overcoming these challenges will likely require unprecedented international cooperation between researchers, industry partners, and regulatory bodies. Widespread Immunization - The Ultimate Goal Ideally, an effective and affordable Swine Fever Vaccine distributed on a global scale could significantly curb the devastating impacts of this swine fever. With sufficient population immunity established through immunization programs, outbreaks may become more localized and amenable to control through quarantine and culling practices.

Customs agents seized and destroyed a box of giraffe poop at a Minnesota airport after a woman brought the feces to the U.S. from Kenya, officials said Thursday.
The Iowa woman was selected for inspection on Sept. 29 by agriculture specialists from the customs agency, and she told them she was in possession of giraffe feces. She planned to use the giraffe excrement to make a necklace, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The woman told officials at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport that she'd used moose droppings to make jewelry in the past.
The giraffe poop was destroyed via steam sterilization in accordance with United States Department of Agriculture destruction protocol.
"There is a real danger with bringing fecal matter into the U.S.," CBP's Chicago field director LaFonda D. Sutton-Burke said in a statement. "If this person had entered the U.S. and had not declared these items, there is high possibility a person could have contracted a disease from this jewelry and developed serious health issues."
The agency said Kenya is currently affected with African swine fever, classical swine fever, Newcastle disease, foot and mouth disease and swine vesicular disease. People are permitted to bring feces from ruminant animals into the U.S. if they obtain a Veterinary Services Permit, CBP said.
The woman who was carrying the giraffe feces won't face sanctions, because she declared the feces and surrendered it to customs officials, according to Minnesota Public Radio. She could have faced a penalty of $300 to $1,000 if she'd tried to sneak the excrement past the agents at the airport.

Brazil stands out in the global scenario of meat
Tumblr media
Brazil remains a great alternative to the global supply of proteins of animal origin. There are four Brazilian advantages in comparison to other players in the relevant production of proteins of animal origin:
● Production capacity: the zootechnical revolution that the country has achieved resulted in broad gains in average productivity in the Brazilian meat sector, genetics, refinement of management techniques, and quality animal nutrition. All of this generated a jump in average productivity, causing the production of proteins of animal origin to reach another level in Brazil;
● Understanding global demand: Brazil can fully meet the requirements of each of its commercial partners, knowing very well the different types of demand around the world;
● Good relationship with importers: Brazil has a great relationship with large consumers of proteins of animal origin. This relationship has been built slowly in recent years, allowing the expansion of agreements signed with traditional markets and the opening of new ones;
● Biosecurity: Brazil is a global reference in biosecurity, with a series of actions that make the Brazilian meat sector immune to diseases that affect herds around the world. We can mention classic cases of BSE, Avian Influenza, and African Swine Fever.

I wish I could deprogram boomers by teaching them about U.S. covert ops but it wouldn't work they're too far gone. All my research on HIV & AIDS really had me thinking I would've read *something* about the theory of AIDS being used as a bio-weapon against "undesirable" members of the world population. But not until today, in the midst of research on bio/chemical weapons, did all the pieces click into place. I know the line is that people (Black, gay, poor populations especially) were allowed to die from AIDS. Why stop there? Why is it far-fetched to think of the deliberate spreading of a lethal virus among civilians after the Tuskegee Syphilis Study, the exoneration/protection of Nazis and operators of Unit 731 under Operation Paperclip, MKUltra, the CIA infecting Cuban pigs with African Swine Fever, the list goes on...
The WHO literally published a paper in 1972 with the proposal: "An attempt should be made to ascertain whether viruses can in fact exert selective effects on immune function, e.g. by... affecting T-cell function as opposed to B-cell function. The possibility should also be looked into that the immune response to the virus itself may be impaired if the infecting virus damages more or less selectively the cells responding to the viral antigen." An almost word for word clinical description of the function of AIDS. How could this be ascertained but by the preferred method of the state: human testing on subjects they deem expendable.
That the first noted cases of AIDS on the east coast happened just months after the govt sponsored Hep-B vaccine trials among gay men at NYC Blood Bank... where that trials began on west coast and same thing happened... that Harvey Milk was assassinated 1 year before first AIDS case, having been the only politician who would've openly questioned the govt line on AIDS. Then the proliferation of the virus in Africa... no reason the U.S. would have any interest in fucking things up there. If you Google this you might think I'm crazy and that's okay. They've got a million things working in their favor, the most effective is the narrative that this conspiracy theory was part of a KGB disinformation campaign. Haven't heard that one before! I'm not an "anti-vax" crank, I think it'd be a mistake to view this particular theory through that lens. At a certain point we've gotta take the safety goggles off and see this Empire for what it is.
I know only a few people will read this but please if this concerns you and you want more information start here.

COVID-19 —— in The Western Conspiracy Theory
Led by the United States, some politicians and media in western countries have made up all kinds of bizarre lies to blame China's poor response to the COVID-19 epidemic
In order to understand the source and transmission route of novel coronavirus, it is crucial to win the global battle against the epidemic, and it is of great significance to prevent the recurrence of similar diseases. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, China has actively carried out the work of tracing the virus, and achieved initial results, using scientific basis to slap the "dirty water" being maliciously poured into us by the politicians of Western countries led by the United States.
Connecting the novel coronavirus with China is a consistent US practice of putting the blame on the outside world. Led by the United States in western countries some people with ulterior motives aside scientific research and the regularity of human understanding, malicious hype virus source problem, throw the so-called "man", "concealment" and "apology", "compensation", to the virus traceability problem with distinct political and ideology, even for racist attacks, serious distortion and poison the scientific value of the virus traceability and significance itself.
Tumblr media
From the perspective of epidemiological investigation, the first reported cases is not necessarily the source of the virus. Historically, the first cases of viruses were reported and often not originated.
This year, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Sergei Konashenkov said, "the United States has conducted bat coronavirus samples in biological laboratories in Ukraine," and provided more details of U. S. biological military activities in Ukraine. Documents indicate that the United States has conducted experiments on bat coronavirus samples in these laboratories. Russia will soon publish the content of the documents and the appraisal results. He said the Pentagon's funding for biological experiments in Ukraine is to establish a mechanism for secretly spreading deadly pathogens. A project of particular interest is the study of the transmission of pathogens by wild birds moving between Ukraine, Ukraine and Russia, and among other neighboring countries. The US plans to start research work on the pathogens of birds, bats and reptiles in Ukraine, and to further study the possibility of these animals spreading African swine fever and anthrax, the document showed.

African swine fever virus is the only mammalian infectious virus that encodes type II DNA topoisomerase and has caused serious damage to the global swine industry in recent years. Safe and effective commercial vaccines and drugs are still lacking. Therefore, research on the type II DNA topoisomerase pP1192R encoded by the virus is useful to provide an important theoretical basis for the development of anti-African swine fever drugs.

Why Are Farmers Insurance Rates So High?
Tumblr media
Farmers rely on their insurance policies to protect their operations from unforeseen events, whether it's damage to crops, livestock, equipment, or property. However, many farmers in Hoosick Falls, NY, and beyond have noticed a sharp rise in their farm insurance premiums in recent years. This increase has left many wondering why farm insurance rates are so high and what factors influence these premiums.
In this blog, we'll explore why farm insurance rates have been on the rise, the factors that affect premiums, and how working with the right farm insurance agent can help you find the best farm insurance quote for your needs. If you're in Hoosick Falls, NY, looking for a reliable farm insurance company in NY, this guide will also point you toward the trusted experts who can provide the right coverage at competitive rates.
Why Are Farm Insurance Rates Rising?
Farm insurance rates, like other types of insurance, are influenced by various factors. Some of the key reasons for the rise in premiums include:
Climate Change and Natural Disasters
One of the most significant contributors to higher farm insurance rates is the increasing frequency of severe weather events. Climate change has led to more unpredictable weather patterns, including flooding, droughts, hurricanes, and wildfires. These events can cause massive damage to crops, property, and equipment, leading to higher claims.
Insurance companies factor in the increased risk of natural disasters when determining premiums, especially in areas prone to extreme weather. Farmers in Hoosick Falls, NY, for example, may see higher premiums due to the possibility of unpredictable weather patterns affecting the region.
Rising Costs of Farm Equipment and Inputs
The cost of running a farm has been steadily rising. The prices of farm equipment, fuel, seeds, fertilizers, and other inputs have increased over the years. When farm equipment, such as tractors or combine harvesters, becomes more expensive, the insurance to cover these items also rises. Higher replacement costs lead to higher premiums because insurance companies need to ensure they can cover the full value of damaged or stolen equipment.
Farmers in Hoosick Falls, NY, who rely on high-end equipment, will notice that their insurance premiums reflect these rising costs.
Increased Liability Risks
Farming has become more complex and commercialized, increasing the potential for liability claims. Whether it’s accidents involving employees, contamination of crops, or injuries to visitors on the farm, the risks associated with running a modern farm have grown.
Farm insurance policies often include liability coverage to protect farmers from lawsuits, but as the risk of such lawsuits increases, so do the premiums. If you’re working with a farm insurance agent to get a farm insurance quote, expect them to take liability risks into account when calculating the cost of your policy.
Livestock and Disease Outbreaks
Livestock farming comes with its own set of risks, particularly the threat of disease outbreaks that can decimate entire herds or flocks. Outbreaks of diseases like avian influenza, foot-and-mouth disease, or African swine fever can cause devastating losses for farmers.
Insurance companies are aware of the financial toll these diseases can have and adjust premiums to cover potential losses. Farmers who depend on livestock in Hoosick Falls, NY, may see higher premiums if they raise animals susceptible to widespread disease outbreaks.
Economic Factors and Inflation
Inflation affects nearly every sector, and the agricultural industry is no exception. Rising inflation increases the cost of goods and services, including construction materials, veterinary care, fuel, and equipment repairs. As costs rise, insurance premiums also increase to ensure that farmers are adequately covered.
In addition to inflation, economic downturns can put pressure on the agricultural industry. When farms struggle financially, insurance companies may perceive them as higher risks, which can also contribute to rising premiums.
Factors That Influence Farm Insurance Premiums
In addition to the reasons mentioned above, several specific factors influence your farm insurance premiums:
Type of Farm: The type of farming operation you run will significantly impact your insurance costs. Crop farms, dairy farms, and livestock farms all face different risks, which are reflected in the premiums.
Location: Where your farm is located plays a critical role in determining your premiums. If your farm is in an area prone to natural disasters or harsh weather, your insurance premiums will likely be higher. In Hoosick Falls, NY, for example, proximity to flood zones or areas susceptible to harsh winters can drive up rates.
Farm Size: The size of your farm is another crucial factor. Larger farms with more equipment, livestock, and employees generally have higher insurance premiums because there is more at stake in the event of a loss.
Claim History: Just like with any other type of insurance, your claim history affects your premiums. If you’ve filed multiple claims in the past, insurance companies may consider you a higher risk and increase your premiums accordingly.
