[Due to the current abnormal climate beyond the underworld, severe cold waves have been plaguing daily life. Elderly people or people with weak health status are advised to refrain from going out, and pay special attention to maintaining their body temperature and their overall health.]

Quincy: “Ugh seriously! The sound of you coughing is so loud I’m gonna die!”

Verine: *Cough cough!* “It’s not like I want to cough either!” *cough cough*

Quincy: “Like this, this weakling is gonna pass his flu to me. I’ll have to change rooms or something!”

Verine: “Yeah yeah, you can move rooms as you wish-” *cough cough*

Quincy: “Oh? Even if I wasn’t allowed to, I would still do it!”

Verine: “Instead of being concerned that I got flu, he rather scolds me…..”

Verine: “I’ve been shut here for days and these moths…I’m so sick of it I can’t stand it.”

Mori: “Freeze! Why are you moving, Verine?”

Mori: “Don’t tell me you’re coming my way?”

Verine: “....There’s a bookshelf behind you. I’m bored and wanna read some books but why are you-” *cough cough cough*

Mori: “Oops! Wait a second! I’ll first move to the other side and give you a sign, then come along, got it?”

Verine: “?!?!”

Mori: “Could you please keep a safe distance? Isn’t it too pitiful if I got the flu from you because we’re dormmates?”

Verine: “This really is annoying….”

Verine: “Forget it. I don’t even wanna read books anymore-” *cough cough cough*!!!

Verine: “Should I just disappear or something…”

Verine: (This is the worst….and the only person who truly cares for me is no one else but just Miss Manager- *cough cough!!* )

Verine: (But even she got sick and is resting….I’ve got no one now)

Even if I can’t open my eyes tomorrow, no one will care….

Verine: “I’m not even coughing…! I’m not even cold! What is happening?!”

Everett: “The effects of the ampoule appears immediately. People who used to be in poor health feel changes more quickly.”

Verine: “Ampoule?”

Everett: “Yes, it’s thanks to that ampoule you’re holding. With just one drop of this mysterious ampoule, you can overcome cold forever.”

Verine: “I can’t believe this…you’re saying it’s all because of this ampoule?”

Verine: (If this is a dream, I don’t want to wake up.)

Verine: “I only have painful memories of my life. Wherever I went, I was looked down upon as a nuisance….”

Verine: “Even if this is a foolish and vain anticipation, it is what it is.”

Verine: “I’ll do anything to not be in pain like I always do. That’s why please…help me.”

Everett: “Is that so? Then please remember that I shall call you from now on.”

Verine: “!!!”

Mori: “Ugh….who is up this early in the morning….”

Mori: “....Mr. Verine…?”

Mori: “Is he planning to spend this month so diligently?”

Mori: (This is my first time seeing him with such a serious expression….What on earth is he planning?)

Mori: “Hmm, this is the note Mr. Verine was writing this morning. No one’s here so it’s not bad for me to take a peek, right~”

Mori: “Huh? What is this…”

Mori: “A lottery number?...Did Mr. Verine dream of the right number coming out…?”

Mori: “Or is it about a treasure hidden since a long time….”

Mori: “You’ll be free from pain if you go there, huh….”

Mori: “Sigh….as expected, it’s gonna be a lot of work.”

Mori: “Are you back? You were asleep for a while there.”

Verine: “Mori…? You followed me to here?”

Mori: “Follow? Mr. Verine should be grateful to me. What would you have done if it weren’t for me? You’d be already eaten by monsters.”

Mori: “This Mori has come here unnoticed.”

Verine: “You really followed me just because you thought you might find some sort of treasure here?”

Mori: “I wonder what unfortunate things you’re saying? I simply came here because I was afraid Mr. Verine would be stranded alone in a foreign land.”

Verine: “Sure….like weren’t treating me like a contagious bacteria just because I was coughing.”

Verine: “.....Forget it, what’s with the white outfit? Even a hood on your head.”

Mori: “This? We were wearing this as soon as we arrived here. Everything changed. Like a protective color barrier.”

Verine: “Protective color?”

Verine: (Now that I think about it, even in my dream, I was wearing white clothes like this……)

Mori: “Look around, this whole place looks like it’s filled with snow entities. We have to protect ourselves here.”

Mori: “That’s why, tell me the real reason you came here, Mr. Verine.”

Mori: “You have to tell me your purpose so I can help you with all I can.”

Verine: “.....”

Verine: “....Ampoule.”

Verine: “It’s because of the ampoule.”

Mori: “Ampoule?”

Verine: “I saw it in my dreams. If I went to the location of this coordinates, I could get an ampoule that will keep me out of cold forever.”

Verine: “Mori, just what are you thinking….”

Mori: “That’s all?”

Verine: *cough cough* “What did you think it was then?”

Mori: “Aha….”

Mori: “No, it’s nothing….”

Mori: (Now that it has come to this, I guess I’ll have to wind up something with ampoules. It looks like a seasonal business, if this climate continues….the profits might not be bad.)

Verine: “What is that smile…creepy.”

*step step step*

Verine: “Slow down! Slow- *cough cough*”

Mori: “Are you afraid the monsters will notice you? If it weren’t for the coughing, it wouldn’t have been very noticeable.”

Verine: (Ugh, look at this. He acted like he was caring for me but after finding out it was simply because of ampoule, he immediately shows his true colors. Give me a break.)

Verine: “Seriously so insensitive.”

*step*

Mori: (The monster turned its head…!)

Verine: *cough cough cough*

Mori: “It’s coming, it’s coming, it’s coming.”

Snow monster: *roar*

Verine: *cough*

Mori: (!!Mr. Verine!!)

Snow Monster: “Who are you…I’ve never seen this face before…”

Mori: “Please, please, please…!”

Verine: “Oh, hello- *cough* we came from an ice cave in the far north.”

Verine: “We’re not here to harm you, just to ask for help….can you help us if you don’t mind?”

Mori: (No what the heck are you thinking reaching out to a literal monster?)

Snow Monster: “That….”

Mori: “He's still?”

Mori: “He grabbed his hands?”

Snow Monster: “You don’t look like a danger….good.”

Verine: “....Thanks, *cough cough*”

Mori: (Friends all of a sudden?)

Mori: (No wait..! Where is the monster he’s supposed to be?)

Verine: “...Then can you guide us the way to the ampoule?”

Snow Monster: “I understand. Follow me grr….”

Mori: “Mr. Verine, wouldn’t it be better if you tell me that you already saw this in your dreams?”

Mori: “Who knew there would be such a non-aggressive monster?”

Verine: “Just because there’s no aggression towards some people doesn’t mean it doesn’t hold any aggression at all *cough cough*”

Mori: “Hah, is this what they mean by monsters also discriminate?”

Mori: (Great. Since it has come to this, I have no choice but to make the monster join my side too. Cooking up such a one-dimensional monster is a piece of cake for this Mori.)

Mori: “Mr. monster? It seems fate has made us meet like this. So, let’s be close buddies from now on, okay?”

Snow Monster: “Grr…go way!”

Mori: “Ack-”

Mori: (He’s even gritting his teeth.)

Verine: (...I wonder if even monsters can sense someone’s real intention. Right, those true colors- *cough cough*)

Mori: “Uh….”

Snow Monster: “Here grr…..”

Verine: “Wow…it’s an ampoule tree…”

Mori: “Woah, it looks much dazzling than I thought, huh?”

Verine: “It’s blinding *cough cough*”

Everett: “Hello. I heard you were looking for this ampoule.”

Verine: (It’s the person from my dreams..!)

Verine: “Yes, that ampoule- *cough cough*”

Everett: “Now, take this.”

Verine: “....You’ll give it to us this easily? Not even knowing who we are?”

Mori: (What are you doing, Mr. Verine? Don’t just touch a suspicious thing.)

Everett: “However, you look pretty tired. Where did you come from?”

Verine: *cough cough* “We came from an ice cave from far north….”

Everett: (Hmm, as far as I know, there’s no one there?)

Everett: “Ah, is Mr. Elliot okay there? I heard he was involved in an accident some time ago, I don’t know if he even recovered well. What kind of accident was it…”

Verine: “....accident…”

Mori: “Ah~~ Yes, now that you said it, we haven’t seen Mr. Elliot in a while. We’ll let you know about him as soon as we get back.”

Translated Event Update!

Hey!! Thanks to the lovely @haru-s-afterlife, I was able to add some translated stories to the wiki! (With permission ofc) :D I'll work on adding the rest but in the meantime please check it out! ^^

Maybe we should try to preserve the English translations/ stories in Ayakshi rr as much as possible? Whether screenshots or just text it would be really great to have! (To my knowledge the Utapri shining love wiki has this so it’s doable to some degree I’m sure!)

First my favorite game (before I started playing a3!) Afterl!fe stopped and got deleted and then a3!😭 They just want to make me sad!😭 I can‘t handle it!

sadness over a3! eng i guess

oof just on my 700th day.....

kinda sad because of the announcement about A3! ENG server shutting down soon due to financial difficulties at LIBER/CYBIRD in the past two years (covid-19 related, etc.). according to a rather in depth reddit comment that had links to LIBER's publicly available financial reports + some financial reports from LIBER's parent company, Aeria, in english, covid-19 really hit LIBER hard since they had to cancel many money making events, from pop-up shops for the typical anime merch trinkets (keychains, plushes, pins, etc.) to the huge in-person events (voice actor meetups, the stage plays of MANKAI LIVE, etc.). due to shrinking player base on the ENG server + major loss of profits on both JPN and ENG servers, LIBER had to choose one or the other and they chose the JPN one, which i totally understand since it's way bigger there and the JPN fanbase will continue to give the franchise money more often. also, another person found a financial report/estimate from the google play store or something, and A3! ENG only made ~$20K to ~$10K in the past few months, which i guess is not enough to keep a server and localization company afloat. 

i got pretty attached to the characters and it was a great game to help get by during college. and honestly, while i am very sad about this, again, i understand why LIBER did this, looking at their financial report from 2020. I would LIBER save the entire franchise rather than shut all the servers down, making us all unable to see our favorite actors ever again, even if it means that we ENG fans will have to go thru the extra steps of finding/reading fan translations, wikis, etc., to read any further stories from where A3! ENG left off. still, A3! ENG's localization was something special. i'm saying this as a TKRB JPN player who read the wiki for all the character voice lines and then had to see the official TKRB ENG localization make Yamabushi Kunihiro a rapper for some reason? lol. it was....weird.... meanwhile, all the memes and slang in A3! ENG didn't seem out of place and all fit their personalities because 3/4 of the troupes were all high school to college age and 3 of them were ~Gamers~. Out of all the gachas i've played, i feel like the only other F2P gacha game that had this incredibly smooth, all cultural jokes/puns translated in a way that still makes sense/fits the character/doesn't require a galaxy brain and some TL note to understand, is probably dragalia lost and that's only because it has frickin Nintendo localizing/publishing it globally for CyGames. Nintendo. i'll eventually read the fan translations of A3!'s Act 3 on the wiki, but it won't be the same without Kazunari's super high-energy influencer slang of "'whoa fam! that's totes 'blammable, gotta take a pic!" or Itaru's gremlin Gamer speak of "lol get rekt noobs" or Tsuzuru's tired dying breath of "that ain't it chief." the appropriate slang and relatable meme speak of the localization really helped humanize these characters as people of their respective ages, rather than just a typical formal speak or some directly translated JPN slang -> ENG that turns out super awkward that can be found in bad localizations.

going back to the reddit comment too, the death of A3! ENG servers could have bad repercussions in the future for other joseimuke games. josei, if you for some reason have been in the anime fandom but still don't know this term, is basically the genre of stories/video games/media/etc aimed at women. it's the mature adult counterpart to seinen, media aimed at adult men. basically shoujo/shonen = elementary/middle school/high school aimed while josei/seinen = high school/college/adult aimed if that helps. Joseimuke is a part of josei that is not specifically romance. while some josei/joseimuke can overlap with otome, aka female aimed dating sims/romance media, they have many things about them that make these all separate genres. one of the official A3! ENG translators and a known fan translator of another joseimuke gacha, Mahou Yaku/Wizard’s Promise, minami, goes more in depth with this in a twitter thread. 

A3! was an actor raising game, and a big part of it was found family and relationships that were platonic. yet it got advertised as an otome, which has more connotations with dating sims and brings to mind other shoujo/otome games and anime where the cast is all high schoolers and the setting is most often in a high school. but, other than some characters making flirty jokes or implied to have crushes on Izumi/player character, many character relationships with Izumi are platonic and not romantic at all. Spring Troupe in the game also jokingly calls themself a family. the entire Mankai Company is basically found family. plus, since the game actually has time passing in story and the characters age with each year, half of the characters aren’t even in high school anymore. a large majority of them are in college or are graduated by now, with only a few still in high school. i’m not surprised if a reason that some people left the game was due to feeling bored with the slice of life/not romantic story, feeling that they were lied to about it being an otome, which was falsely advertised since it is a game meant for the older teens/adults demographic of josei/joseimuke.

i’m worried that other japanese companies will look at this shut down as a “josei/joseimuke doesn’t work well in the west” and never localize other josei/joseimuke gacha games like Mahou Yaku, EnStars, Twisted Wonderland, Helios, etc.

while i like otome and shoujo, i, as a 23/soon to be 24 year old college graduate and now tax paying adult, want more stories that have more mature themes and characters that are more my age so i don’t have to feel awkward when i’m playing some dating sim and i, a literal 23 year old adult, and trying to woo a 16 year old. it’s...a little awkward to say the least. i would gladly welcome more mature media that is categorized as josei/joseimuke.

sorry if this is all over the place, but overall im just sad that A3! ENG is shutting down. i don’t know if i’ll join the JPN server yet. i’m def going to read the Act 3 story via fan translators on the wiki, but A3! gameplay was...boring lmao. as much as i love A3!, im sure that the constant event grind/burnout and boring rng gameplay turned people off too and i dont blame them. i felt the burnout bad since i participated in basically every event since day 1. it. is. rough. i’m not joining the hellish thunderdome that is the JPN server and im not ranking anymore as a F2P player lmao. literally had to play almost every waking free moment to get into the 30%-20% bracket as a F2P person and i never got to top 20%-10%, much less top 1% lmao. i’m don’t whale enough lol. 

i feel like i should probably just. crack open my genki 2 textbook and uhhh totally legal pdf copy of tobira. so i can just. get the JPN version of games in the first place so i don’t have to worry about getting shafted since overseas fans are often considered expendable. 

i wish that, when any games that are online end, gacha or mmo or anything, anything online, companies will let fans archive things. or like. release a book that is just the story text or something. like. CYBIRD is letting us still technically play the game and have the story and all, but what if they eventually later shut everything down? why not just release a pdf/ebook that’s just the text of the eng localization for some money? i’d buy it. for nostalgia and rereads and all and also archiving purposes. i think i’ll try to help with any english localization archive projects if i can so that the hilarious and incredible localization that was a work of love from the translation team doesn’t just disappear forever.

A3! Rant bellow! I know most of my followers now follow me because of Haikyuu or other fandoms but originally this was a A3!-centric blog, which is why due to the news of the Eng server being shut down I felt the need to just… say something.

To sum things up: I’ll continue writing for A3!, I’ll still be up to date with the events on JP and reading translations of the game, so don’t worry (^_^) I’m way too invested in the game to leave it just yet. If anything, it’s inspiring me to keep studying japanese even harder;; kkkk

Now, onto the longer side of things… to say this is depressing is an understatement. I’ve been playing and following the game since it came out in english and, as unhealthy as it sounds, was such an important part of my recovery process. 2018-2019 were such hard years for me, and it culminated in October of 19’ where everything really felt like it was ending. I’d had a couple of attempts at the time, but that October had been especially hard — it was around that time I had discovered the game and god, the amount of joy it brought me back then… whenever I felt down or overwhelmed I’d always go back to it, the characters and the stories became such a comfort that I struggle to imagine what I’d have done if it weren’t for the game. Whenever I felt down or like I was about to hurt myself, I’d always try and turn to the game — and while it didn’t always work it made me feel safe. When I ultimately recovered from my final attempt, A3! was one of the few things that kept being a constant to me; like it didn’t matter how much I struggled and felt like things were stagnant, it was always just there.

Nowadays, it still serves as a comfort, I’m healing and don’t have that much of an unhealthy relationships with it that I see it as the sole reason I’ve kept going. I’m getting better, albeit slowly, but I still find myself running back to when things get too much. Which is why, I guess, the news have hit me so hard. I’ve been basically bawling my eyes out for the last 40 minutes since I heard the news. It’s not the first time a game I’ve been a fan of has shut down (afterl!fe comes to mind), but this is the one where I guess it hurts the most. I’ll still hope, albeit childishly, that maybe someday we’ll get new events in the Eng servers, because god knows how much this stupid, definitely broken gacha game about a silly little found family means to me. God, just writing this makes me feel like crying… I’m so, pissed? At the way Cybrid has handled the game, because it has absolutely everything to be successful, but the marketing was so, so bad. I can’t help but wish another company had taken the localization and distribution, because A3! already had the Japanese market and backing to prove it could be successful… I hope Liber is able to revive the server with better marketing someday, maybe they’ll realize the opportunity a game like A3! brought. They know how to release and market games, the Ikemen series is a clear example, so I can’t help but wonder why the hell A3! was such a failure… maybe they’re just used the romance games. As for now, I’m just glad they won’t delete the game and still allow us to revisit the stories and cards, I still have a bunch of unread events and card stories and I don’t think I’m quite ready to completely leave the game.

I don’t think, as long as this blog keeps running, that I’ll ever stop writing for A3!. The current event will still be going and I’ll continue working on requests on the meantime. If for some reason you read this far, thank you for listening to me ramble/cry about a game getting shut down.

AfterL!fe being officially (and predictably, after all these months of silence) cancelled leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. The Korean server was at least seven months old but never had a chapter update before the global release.

They never got a chapter update, which makes me believe the devs never intended to continue with the game despite expanding its reach. They had some content and they wanted to sell it before pulling the plug. Translation is cheap. New content, art and voice acting is not.

I feel sad for the KR fans who probably took it as a good sign that a global release was happening, the game was supposedly doing well and they would get more content soon. And I feel sad for global fans who put money and time into a game that was dead in the water from the day it was released.

The two quietly start making chocolate but eventually get caught by other Soul Reapers. Will they be able to outrun the reapers' endless pursuit and deliver the chocolate safely to the manager?

[T/N: This is a Korean proverb. A stove is where the food is cooked and a cat jumping on it and walking around it would make the area messy and dirty. Here, "tamed" means innocent looking so it basically means that the one who looked the least threatening could be the one to do something foul behind your back.]

Ghilley: "It is against the rules to make chocolate right before Valentine's Day."

Noah: "Hahaha. Against the rules? But it's just a chocolate though? I never said I would give it to anyone though?"

Ghilley: "If it isn't for the Mistress, then you wouldn't have come in so sneakily like earlier."

Noah: "Um..."

Ghilley: "Noah, have you forgotten our alliance?"

Noah: "Alliance?"

Ghilley: "It's no use pretending you don't know."

2024/07/21 - Update!

Hey :D I was able to get my admin position back (since it expired TT) So I went through all the reported comments and deleted them! Thank you for reporting and keeping the community friendly ^^

I also decided to go through all the character profiles and update them to the tabber format to have them all coherent!

I realized that my ask box was closed so I opened that as well! Please give me any ideas you'd like to see on the wiki and how I can make it better :D

I also started updating the cross stories to the newest dialogue formatting, and have updated Noah's [Path] and Jamie's [The Garden Fairy] card stories and Noah's [Romantic Suite], Ghilley's [Strange Chocolate] and Sian's [Sian's Fortune] card stories (as well as their SNS) thanks to @/haru-s-afterlife's translation hehe

I'm planning on adding Haru's newest translations to the wiki after a week as well! Please check it out and don't forget to reblog! ^0^

Manager: "Is it melting well?"

Ghilley: "....."

Ghilley: "It's melting without forming the shape."

Manager: "....That's weird."

Ghilley: "Right, Mistress."

Manager: "Don't say that with such a serious face...It sounds like we're watching a real person melt."

Ghilley: "Fufufu!!!"

Manager: "It's that laughter of yours you do every time things go according to your plan!"

Ghilley: "It's just a way to cover up my sad heart, fufufu."

Ghilley: "But I did work pretty hard to prepare it, the chocolate statue."

Manager: (....Ghilley worked hard to make it for me but it's melting again so how upsetting it must be.)

[T/N: In KR ver, Manager talks to Youssef with some honorifics & formality. Example: she adds "씨/ssi" to Youssef's name which translates to "Mr. Youssef".]

Manager: "So....Ghilley will talk informally to me?"

[T/N: If it isn't clear enough, Ghilley originally talks to manager formally!]

Ghilley: "Oho, that sounds fun too."

Manager: "But is that really your wish? It's too simple to grant, isn't it?"

Ghilley: "I thought it was pretty difficult though, fufufu!"

Manager: "Come to think of it, Ghilley. Why have I been talking informally to you all this time?"

Manager: "Have we been like this since we first met..."

Ghilley: "Have we? Fufufu."

Manager: "Ah! I remember! Ghilley joked with me saying that he was younger than me but I was fooled!"

Manager: (And after that, I just naturally started to talk to him informally....Actually, in terms of age, he must be a lot older than even Youssef....)

The voice was getting farther away and the only thing we could hear as we ran silently was the sound of our footsteps.

Manager : "Huff...Huff...Noah...! Wait!"

Noah : "Manager, this way!"

Noah : "Um..."

Manager : (!!! He's too close!)

Manager : "Noah...You!"

Noah : "Shh-"

Thump-Thump. The sound of my heartbeat pierced my own ears.

Manager : (Why is my heart beating so fast! Is it because of running? It must be because of running!)

Manager : (It's too loud though! Would holding breath calm me down?)

Manager : "AH! I almost got caught up in your little jokes again without realizing it! Don't tease me, Noah!"

[T/N : AHHH I DON'T KNOW HOW TO TRANSLATE THIS PARTICULAR DIALOGUES with *** CORRECTLY. It makes a lot of sense in Korean. Because you see, Noah used two forms of "Like". First, "Ma-eum-e deul-eo/마음에 들어" is usually referred to objects. However, when it's used for people, it usually conveys a feeling of "platonic" kind of "like" or when someone seems appealing to you but it may or may not be romantically. BUT THEN, Noah switched up his words to "Joh-eunga/좋은가" the second time which is usually a stronger form of "Like", it's almost always used for someone you love VERY romantically. That's why, it gives more meaning when you know that Manager answered with second form of "Like" i.e "Joh-ha"!]

Noah : "I'm not joking though?"

Manager : "......"

Manager : (Is it because of the atmosphere? Noah, depending on today's day feels a little more mischievous and sweet....It's tenacious but endearing.)

Manager : "Noah, I'll only say this once. So, listen carefully-"

Noah : "?"

Manager : "If I disliked you, I wouldn't have even come with you."

Noah : "!!!"

Manager : "Got it?"

Manager : (Whew, all good! I was worried about what should I do if my voice shook while talking. Gotta get out of here quickly!)

*Rustle Rustle*

Noah : "...!!"

Noah : "Ma-Manager, wait for me!"

Manager : (By the way, Noah had such a bewildered expression on his face. Kinda sad I didn't take a picture.)

Noah : "Manager! Don't go alone!"

Manager : "Are you sure you'll be okay? Right now, I think the reapers are turning on their lights and coming to look for-"

Manager : (I didn't know it when I was in the forest but Noah's face seemed to remind me of...)

Noah : "Isn't it fine even if you don't go away?"

Manager : (When he spoke with such a face, I started following him without even having the time to react. Why did Noah say something like that to me-)

Manager : (No, I'm just thinking too much! But since today's Valentine's Day, it doesn't seem too weird to have thoughts like that, does it?)
