◛ Preview: Ghilley who was secretly preparing chocolate for the manager ahead of Valentine's Day runs into Noah in the kitchen. The two quietly start making chocolate but eventually get caught by other Soul Reapers. Will they be able to outrun the reapers' endless pursuit and deliver the chocolate safely to the manager?

◛ Chapter 1 : Should we do it together?

Ghilley: "Hmm."

*Sneak*

Ghilley: "Well, no one is going to be in the kitchen at this hour."

Ghilley: "Then, let's get started."

Ghilley: "First step is...."Boil the whipped cream." Hmm the whipped cream....whipped cream."

*Crushing noise*

Ghilley: "..."

Ghilley: "Who is there?"

Noah: "Uh..."

Ghilley: "..."

Noah: "Hi...Ghilley."

Ghilley: "I was wondering who it was, so it was Noah. Since when have you been there?"

Noah: "Um...from the start?"

Ghilley: "..."

Noah: "..."

Ghilley: "Fufufu...that chocolate..."

Ghilley: "Hahahaha!"

*run*

Ghilley: "Everyone, gather in the kitchen! Noah-"

Noah: "Wait! Hold on!"

Ghilley: "As they say, the tame cat is usually the first one to jump on the stove."

[T/N: This is a Korean proverb. A stove is where the food is cooked and a cat jumping on it and walking around it would make the area messy and dirty. Here, "tamed" means innocent looking so it basically means that the one who looked the least threatening could be the one to do something foul behind your back.]

Ghilley: "It is against the rules to make chocolate right before Valentine's Day."

Noah: "Hahaha. Against the rules? But it's just a chocolate though? I never said I would give it to anyone though?"

Ghilley: "If it isn't for the Mistress, then you wouldn't have come in so sneakily like earlier."

Noah: "Um..."

Ghilley: "Noah, have you forgotten our alliance?"

Noah: "Alliance?"

Ghilley: "It's no use pretending you don't know."

Ghilley: "Didn't we agree on 'No Chocolate'! You have now broken everyone's tacit rules!"

Noah: "Um, but didn't Ghilley too break it?"

Ghilley: "..."

Noah: "Boiling fresh cream, you're making homemade chocolate, aren't you?"

Ghilley: "This is why I don't like quick-witted people."

Noah: "So it's not just a problem with eyes...."

Ghilley: "Alright then. More than this, let's stay together until the chocolate is done."

Noah: "Good luck."

Ghilley: "Fufufu...! Ahahaha!"

Ghilley: "If you try to make it like fried rice, you'll never finish the chocolate, Noah."

Ghilley: (I thought he would be good at making chocolate because he sounded experienced about whipped cream but this is unexpected. Fufufu...)

Ghilley: "It's my victory."

Noah: "?! We were competing?"

Ghilley: "Oh my, stop saying it like you're not aware of it."

Noah: "What kind of chocolate did you make-"

Noah: "!? A statue?!"

Ghilley: "How is it? My chocolate statue that resembles Mistress' figure!"

Noah: "Is this really made from just the ingredients in the refrigerator?"

Ghilley: "Correct."

Noah: "But how can it be possible to make such gigantic statue?"

Ghilley: "Fufufu!!! Ahahaha!!!!"

Ghilley: "...."

Ghilley: "Are you holding back something?"

Noah: "Ahaha....."

Noah: "Yeah right, this is awesome....manager will be impressed too."

Ghilley: "...this is not fun."

Noah: "?"

Ghilley: "I'll show you how to boil."

Noah: "Really? Thanks!"

Ghilley: "Smiling like that doesn't work on me."

*Crackle Crackle*

Noah: "Haha."

Ghilley: "Why are you laughing?"

Noah: "When I think about it, it's funny."

Ghilley: "?"

Noah: "I'm making chocolate with the reaper who came to pick me up."

Noah: "I'm probably the only person in the world who has this kind of experience."

Ghilley: "....Accurate."

Noah: "Sometimes I wonder if the Soul Reaper that I saw for the first time is really you. Of course in a good way-"

Ghilley: "I don't know why you're suddenly bringing this up."

Noah: "Maybe it's because you've been avoiding me for so long?"

Noah: "I....what you said, I really appreciate it."

Noah: "So I thought we could get to know each other better....is it just me with this thought?"

Ghilley: "..."

Ghilley: "It was same with Nine but....Noah is the person I met as someone who became a soul reaper."

Noah: "?"

Ghilley: "I don't really have a good relation with people from past life."

Noah: "Ah...."

Noah: (So it's like some jinx or trauma...?)

Ghilley: "Now just for a little bit...."

*ssk-*

Noah: (When did he get that far away?!)

Ghilley: "Would you like to observe....."

Noah: "Understood so don't walk away after saying that. Feels like I'm hurt somehow."

Ghilley: "Fufufu, it's not like I'm gone far away. I just did my part and left...."

Ghilley: "Now let's pour the chocolate into the mold and let it harden."

Noah: "Ah, thanks."

Noah: "Also hey ghilley, what if I become a challenge to overcome? I don't think I'll have any resentment for you."

Ghilley: "Such active side of yours gets a point but before that, you have hardships to overcome."

Noah: "Hardships?"

Noah: (Wait, this is...)

Ghilley: "Prepare to escape!"

What's afterl!fe? The characters look so cute and the artstyle is so pleasant to look at! I know you said it shut down, but I have to wonder, what it's about? Something to do with reapers? (I mean, I wouldn't mind if you started posting fic about the game because honestly, I'll read anything you write).

It was an otome game in which you play as the new manager for the 14th branch of Soul Reapers, all of them ranging in backgrounds, ages, and even species (Ell is an angel, and Quincy is a devil for example). There are different dorms, each housing four Soul Reapers. Mane (the Morning Team) consists of Ell, Jamie, Ghilley, and Licht. Die (the Day Team) consists of Theo, June, Louis, and Ethan. Hesperide (the Twilight Team) consists of Sian, Cyrille, Kati, and Noah. Noctu (the Night Team) consists of Nine, Day, Kirr, and Aitachi. Diluculo (the Dawn Team) consists of Youssef, Mori, Quincy, and Verine. As each team name suggests, it is the time at which they work!

Essentially, as the manager you're in charge of training and managing the Soul Reapers as they go about their daily work lives. All of them are dead and have past lives, and if I remember correctly they work to help guide vengeful spirits to the afterlife by sealing and purifying them within a kaleidoscope, hence The Sacred Kaleidoscope part of the game's title! :D I think they were also working towards reincarnation??? Although I might be wrong about that. I do know that when they came to the Reapers Department they all had a certain number of karma points which they had accumulated in their past life from various good and bad deeds.

You could send the Soul Reapers on cleaning shifts, read SNS posts, collect cards in the gacha, participate in limited time events, and read the card stories about various characters. There was also a feature where there were chat rooms for each dormitory and for each individual character, so you could chat with other players about your favorite dorm or characters! And aside from side stories and events, there was a main story!

It was a really fun game with lots of potential and many unique characters!!! Hopefully one day it will return, but until then I will hold the memory close in my heart. (ᴗ͈ˬᴗ͈)ꕤ.ﾟ

That is a relief to know because lately I have been wanting to write for Hetalia. ^^;;;;; but for now I'm glad others can be interested in Afterl!fe!!!!!)

Sian: "What is this crazy sweet smell...! How did kitchen get so messy? Don't tell me-"

Theo: "Chocolate...?"

Sian: "These traitors! Didn't we make an alliance not to give chocolate to manager...!"

Noah: (There was an alliance like that?! When?!)

Noah: "...Ah, I forgot again."

Licht: "Darling! No use making such a sad face!"

Licht: "I'm confiscating that chocolate!"

Sian: "Get hold of that Ghilley right now! Don't know what's that in his hands but it's huge!"

Ghilley: "Fufufu...! Do you really think I'll be caught that easily?"

Ghilley: "Abracadabra!"

Noah: "Magic?!"

Ghilley: "Escape through the back door!"

*Hu!*

Sian: "Ugh! I was taken aback by that stupid spell!"

Sian: "After him!"

*Rumble!*

Noah: "...!"

Noah: (Ghilley must have did that spell to draw attention on purpose. Thanks to Ghilley, it seems like no one is in the kitchen. I hope it works....)

Theo: "Are you gonna run away?"

Noah: "!!! Theo...?"

Theo: "I was really stupid too....How could I be relieved by making an alliance of some sort knowing full well what kind of person manager is..."

Theo: "Traitor sprouts can grow anywhere."

Noah: "Theo, I understand you're upset. But I was never aware of the alliance's existence."

Theo: "It's okay. It was my fault for being careless."

Theo: "You're not allowed to take a single step out of here."

Theo: "And that chocolate will go into the trash."

Noah: "...."

Noah: "Sorry, but I didn't make it with the intention of it being easily thrown away."

Theo: "This means business!"

Manager: "Me?!"

Ghilley: "It's a chocolate of your form, mistress."

Ghilley: "How is it?"

Manager: "Huh...? Yeah...Woah! It's really, really awesome....amazing."

Manager: (Why did he make a chocolate out of me? What day is it today? What's happening all of a sudden?)

Manager: "Hey, Ghilley. What is-"

Sian: "Found you!"

Ghilley: "This...! You finally came."

Kati: "I will...."

Kati: "I will bite you off!"

Ghilley: "No!"

Ghilley: "Kati bit the mistress!"

Manager: "Ow...! No wait, he bit the chocolate! Don't say that!"

*Plop!*

Ghilley: "Mistress' head fell off!"

Manager: "Uwaa!! I don't-"

Sian: "Well done, Kati! Justice prevailed!"

Manager: "My neck....."

Sian: "Hm! This is how the person who breaks the 'don't give manager the chocolate' alliance meets his end!"

Manager: "Alliance? Chocolate? Ah!!"

Manager: "Today is Valentine's Day! What should I do.....I didn't prepare anything!"

Sian: "I didn't give you anything because of that alliance, but that traitor...!"

Manager: "It's a feeling that can't be expressed with chocolate."

Ghilley: "...."

Manager: "Thank you. It was a very nice gift."

Kati: "Ahh! The lights are starting to melt the chocolate!"

Manager: "If we leave it like this, this place will be covered in chocolate. What do we do?"

Ghilley: "I'll have to dismantle the pieces. I feel sorry for the hard work, but...."

Kati: "Then what about the chocolate?"

Manager: "Hmm....I can't eat it all....Ah! Why don't we melt it again and distribute it to all soul reapers?"

Manager: (Is it because of today's mood? Why am i suddenly so nervous talking to Noah?)

Noah: "!!! Did you just try to escape?"

Manager: "No! Did-Did I? No, why would I...? Ahahaha...!"

Noah: "I'm hurt...."

Manager: "Sor-sorry! It wasn't intentional...I don't know why I..."

Noah: "Then, as an apology, listen to my one request."

Manager: "What...what is it?"

Noah: "Run away with me."

Manager: "?! Run away? What do you-"

"Manager!"

Manager: "?"

Sian: "I brought you the gift!"

Theo: "Miss Manager! I too...."

Theo: "!"

Noah: "!"

Theo: "Noah!!"

Manager: (Theo? I don't know why but he seems extremely angry...? Did he fight with Noah?)

 empty. The game was a huge source of comfort and especially Theo. In my opinion, nhn didn’t handle this well and after going quiet for months, they announce that the game is going to end and on the first anniversary? God, I really liked them and reading this letters made me really sad. I fell in love with them to find this out? And they’re deleting the game on the 31st of December. The year will end in a really poor note god, I hate this. I feel bad for nhn but at the same time this could have been handled better because the game had great potential and I mean it. The characters, plot along with their pasts were all amazing. They were relatable and realistic and huge comfort for many so yeah.. But anyway, I’m really upset but I’m glad I downloaded the game during the days it was released and I’m happy i met them all. They-all of them will occupy a special place in my heart but ahhh knowing I’ll have no new story or anything of them again is really...sad. I can’t say anything else but say this is sad. Sorry for the long rant.

Hello. Was wondering if I could request a 'Ghilley getting flustered' situation? I think it might be fun to see him on the reciving end. Thanks for running such a fun blog~

Ghilley: 

It’s very, very hard to get Ghilley flustered. Even if he is surprised at one point or another he’s good at hiding it, laughing away as he sees you pouting over your failed prank. He thinks it’s cute you want to see his surprised face but he’s been through a lot in his days so he doubts there’s anything you might do to shock him. 

Ghilley’s weakness is in genuine affection and physical touch. He’s used to this from Licht but when it comes from you, even after you’re together, he feels thrown off balance. He’s mostly thrown off because he doesn’t know how to respond to your gentle touches, your soft kisses, how good it makes him feel to hear that you love him with your entire heart. The fact you can continue going on and on without fail when it comes to listing the things you love about him and all the happy memories you have has Ghilley close to tears, knowing that he’d waited a long time to find someone like you. 

Ghilley eventually learns to fire back when your loving behavior pops up, able to say the most embarrassingly cutesy things it makes you flustered. It quickly turns into a competition to see who would give in first which eventually ends with the two of you tangled up in each other’s arms, giggling at the silliness of the situation and feeling like you’re both falling even more in love with the other.
