actually really happy with the anime adaptation of faust's sacrifice, honestly i think the anime did it better than the game. with the sprites, you can't really see the emotions in the characters faces, especially for one as stoic as faust. on the contrary, the anime captures the small changes in faust's emotions really well with the VA and animation, and ultimately his sacrifice feels a lot more impactful when we get to see the actual act and not just a shot of his bloodied crossbow. faust is prolly my fav reunion char and im real glad the anime did him well. the anime cut some scenes of sasha/eno's past but in exchange we get a more fleshed-out faust, which is fine cuz mephisto and talulah's arcs are in chapter 8 anyways

finished ch 9 and its very much like. the first piece of arknights story content ive read that felt enjoyable to read all the way through. makes me actually invested in reading upcoming events and esp excited for the continuation of the main story!

There are two halls, the one with official/fan stuff and the actual theme park-ish one This post covers the first because image limit

The tickets were sold on Bilibili so I got them myself, you also have to register your name and ID and I got a VIP ticket so I got to sleep in little later (i think it was like 298 vs 598 RMB... you get more merch and 1 hour earlier entrance/shorter entry queue, but apparently so many people lined up early on the first day they let the floodgates loose at 8 plus and merch sold out by 0930 lmao) Idk how unfair it'd be (not sure how many tickets they sold per tier) but I kind of wish the VIP let you fastpass the attractions too kuxiao

I went on the 4th which was the second…? day and before I went in I had to scan a qrcode to basically upload a selfie lol (surprisingly didn't have to do this for the concert they just looked at my passport punched in the funny numbers on a device and let me through a manned door)

You get a totally not infection monitor to tap at every location, and if you scan the qr code on the underside it brings you to a miniapp on wechat that shows you your progress and queue estimates (there was also some quest thing that i forgor to do i think you get doctor stickers for it)

I headed here first because I wanted to pass some stuff to an oomf at the doujin area (first pic is the queue...) they invited a bunch of fanartists (that post regularly on skland? not sure) to table there kinda cool with a showcase of fanart

I'm not gonna lie, it's already a bit of an ask to get me interested in seeing an anime of something I've already read, but the AK anime focusing around the main story arc rather than the side stories that I enjoy far more mean I don't really have much of an interest in watching it.

Now if they were to adapt the Rhine storyline, that I would watch as it airs.

Most Reunion commanders of course but especially:

Crownslayer - seeing that artwork of Crownslayer on the hill of Chernobog rubble as a promo near launch then in that intro in-game was instantly 'wow i hope we get them that outfit is stylish- wait what do you mean she's an antagonist AHHH THAT'S NOT GONNA WORK OUT FOR HER! STOP!' (Lo and behold, clownslayer bullying) She just keeps getting fucked over progressively worse as things go on... W - The Character Of All Time. Starting off like 'oh sick ch1 boss design- hang on she SMOKEBOMBED AWAY!? NO DEATH ANIMATION ALLOWED HAHAHA HOW FUNKY! "KILL YOU LATER" alrighty!' and then uh yeah, Chapters 2&3 happened. Boy was that fucked up. But then we got to see her plans unfurl prior to Darknights Memoir which solidified her as Fucking Incredible. I finally understood the Hype about her banner on CN. Character I simply resonated with so strongly at that point. Phenomenal major player in the main story. Is she bound to meet a violent end? I feel like it'd be a neat and tragic mirror to the end of Arc 1 if there was an Amiya/W face-off eventually. FrostNova - Yelenaaaaaa....... Perish in Frost is gonna end me all over again honestly. Very important bnuyu. Listening to Lullabye repeatedly lately; in memoriam, and an attempt to memorise the lyrics in anticipation. Personally it's kind of amusing that she gets the True Rng attacks with her Black Icicles. Genuine, authentic russian roulette gameplay. Crisp design, that pale ice-blue is a nice touch.

Non-Reunion:

Mandragora - my wonderful soggiest poor little meow meow dripping mud n dirt n blood everywhere <3 Ain't she great! Now that Yato can go visorless, a Masked slot is available! Make it so, Hypergryph. Sometimes self-care is skewering Victorians to instil fear as catharsis for trauma-inducing abuse that more-or-less ended one of her lives that she crawled out of like a more bedraggled version of Kill Bill's The Bride. Unhinged, justifiably-founded but now-disproportionate revenge is just fun. Wear your wrath like a mantle. Anyhow it's as gutting as intended that she's the one that most cared for her troops and the Taran peoples; for overturning the Victorian nobility and their policies. So it'd be nice to see an actual return after they let her vanish in Londinium. Also HornDragora excellent dynamics Ya - Ohohohohoho. Hypergryph really love making characters just for me~ They deserve to burn Yan to ashes, absolutely. Not the traitor bitch-in-chief Sui. Oh, you're mad that you got betrayed by the insects whom you taught to kill gods? Really now? That bastard pulled a Zaaro and wants to be the last one standing, to curse Yan with his rebirth and outlive those He betrayed. Fuck that. Ya is essentially bleeding out after being woken from stasis by the shitforbrain Shanhaizhong idiots yet doing all the cool wuxia villain shit in a heartbroken rampage to bring Sui back simply for Them to burn the world and die together as kin once more. Wonderful! And though I don't recall if Fire Emblem: Awakening did have that same exact dynamic between Grima and the Grimleal, I adore that scenario of 'hey you fucked me over in order to have the end of the world summoned for you BUT guess what? You die too, bitch. No world domination for you filth either!' (Heroes recently gave us the true Laser-Guided Karma moment with that) They carved away specific slivers of time for Their pocket dimension home to keep Their cherished moments away from humanity and got woken up by nobodies, for little of purpose. YA01, what a legendary codex tag. The boss gimmick was an interesting way of doing the clone tactic but damn those additional spawns if you let Them move too far forward. Overall I like Them a normal amount, see. Pancho Salas - This guy was ridiculous, what a goofy Bond villain parody. Lovely action film setpiece of a map fending off his armoured missile boat and those waverider casters from a chewed-up luxury yacht in an artificial sea. Taking his boat down only to face the absolute brick wall of an anchor-wielding seadog with a metal arm, damn. Dossoles Holiday was much more fun than expected even with its Deep Water/Tides mechanics. Kaschey - Not exactly a favourite, but. They made a very good punching bag of an Actual Evil Bastard. That scummy method of self-propagation allowing him to be all "Ursus is MY plaything and I shall continue to grease its wheels with the blood of all those my Glorious Empire shall oppress!" was one hell of a reveal to throw into that interlude, huh? And that colour palette he maintains across his victims - the austere, harsh grays and black against white with dashes of crimson: it's the bloodstains amidst the Ursus Tundra echoing his presence. That's a sublime and careful coordination, yet more of Hypergryph's mindful consideration and planning behind characters, behind lore themes & motifs. Zumama, during Great Chief Returns - I CAN BEAT GAVIAL'S STRENGTH WITH MY ENGINEERING I PROMMY, GODDAMMIT (can't, lmao) Tomimi, during Great Chief Returns - I CAN KEEP GAVIAL WITH ME IN ACAHUALLA FOREVER I PROMMY, GODDAMMIT (can't, lmao. Gets tail-spanked, lmao) Jetpack Thief/Jetman from IS2 simply because the Arts Drones are more of a threat than his dumb arse. Stall, he hops into flight when we're given Anti-Air Defense tiles boosting ranged atk, and when he lands you should have a burst dps melee ready to grind him. One of the safest Floor 3 bosses if rngesus has allowed it. IS3's Pathshaper gets a shout here too for being a hilariously-deletable non-event of a Floor 3 boss.

On the more passive antagonism side of things would be ones like:

Degenbrecher (all sides knew it's just a stalling game where Enciodes is far more antagonistic towards the Very Shitty Clan Leaders & Great Elder, yet Sharp actually held out sparring with her) The Last Steam Knight (a warping of conviction and duty beyond death that defends a final bastion "You are not permitted to stain MY Victoria! Trespasser!") Dusk ("Hey what the fuck are you looking for me for? Get in the painting idiots. Wait, you lot have too much trauma to deal with that? Lame. Why's my annoying big sister here too?!") Ho'olheyak (she's not evil, and not the arc's villain, just as she said; but her manipulation of various parties during Dorothy's Vision/Lonetrail and taunting of both Saria and Muelsyse was enough for us to find delightful)

If FrostNova joined Rhode Island, do you think she'd make friends with Muelsyse after Lonetrail? Powerful Ice and Water users, part of a good cause that they built and was their life for, but had to watch it be corrupted to evil, both with a close relationship to a powerful and indomitable shield user, and both grieving what could've been if they weren't betrayed.

First off, thank you; this is such an involved question involving characters I adore and you're awesome for thinking it!

While they do have those things in common, I don't know if they would strike up a friendship. At least not in the traditional sense. More like kindred spirits?

Their personalities might clash, but Mumu is close to even the hardheaded Saria. Yelena is straightforward, Mumu is deceptive. Yelena quite possibly has one of the worst cases of Oripathy, and is a physical danger to anyone near her, but Mumu is close with Ifrit, despite having to stay away from Originium for her own safety. Even if they don't strictly do things friends often do, like hang out, I think because of their shared experiences and commonalities, they may be able to understand certain things that others can't.

Yelena is powerful both in spite of and because of her illness, it's a double-edged sword. Muelsyse is unlike any other race on Terra; the power that she, as an Elf, holds is unlike anything we've seen from other (non-godlike) characters. Yelena has solidarity with other Infected, her siblings. Muelsyse is alone. Originium ultimately wrecked both of their lives (Yelena's health, Mumu's sense of home).

Talulah and Kristen respectively gave them dreams and a future to look towards, and that is the most devastating of all. Tal promised a home for Infected, Kristen promised a place where Muelsyse wouldn't feel so estranged. The amount of respect and faith Yelena and Mumu had for Tal and Kristen made their subsequent "betrayals" sting even more. They dedicated their lives for their causes. They were kept in the dark of what was really happening--even though Alina urged Talulah to confide in Yelena, while it was implied that Mumu was conspiring with Kristen (before LT gave her role to Nasti which I'm still bitter about). In the end, Yelena chose not to hate Talulah despite all the pain she brought, and Muelsyse is holding onto the possibility of seeing Kristen again.

Their relationships with Patriot and Saria are also great because they give us a closer look into who they are when not putting on a face. It's arguably some of their most humanizing aspects. Yelena is just a sick girl who was saved and adopted by Buldrokkas'tee, and she even has moments where she's apologetic for causing him trouble. She could've been a better daughter to him... while Muelsyse can't keep up her facade of an intimidating Rhine Lab Director in front of Saria, who, despite not trusting her 100%, knows she isn't heartless; Mumu was shocked at Kristen signing off on inhumane projects. Yelena prioritized her Yeti Squad, treasuring her family above all else. Mumu's acts of kindness went unnoticed because she helped Ifrit, Saria, and Silence behind the scenes--their lives were made better because of Muelsyse.

Ultimately both FrostNova and Muelsyse are girls who just want a place to call home, and have been handed tragedies on a platter in response.

All this to say that I'm not sure if they would be friends, but it's kind of nice knowing someone else out there has essentially lived your life, and thus knows what it feels like. Knowing someone can empathize and understand how much those familiar beats hurt. It's comforting.

I love them so much. I wish he had more screen time prior to chapter 7 but oh well the story isn’t perfect in general

They could definitely expand on some stuff in tbe anime but I wouldn’t bet on that

It’s great tho. If you only look into Chens chara from a logical perspective you’re gonna miss so much. She’s been doing what’s logical and saying what she doesn’t think throughout her entire life. It was meeting Rhodes Island that changed her into being more a bit of herself. Humans beings are emotional creatures at the end of the day. Even if we fuck up we want our fuck ups to be cause of our decisions

I REALIZED HER SKIN IS A REFERENCE TO FUMIZUKI WHEN I WAS READINF THE STORY. That’s so endearing I like it so much more now that I know that there’s a point to it. I thought it was some gratuitous fanservice of sorts before which nothing wrong with it but it’s not gonna make me personally care too much. Noticing that’s how Fumizuki used to comb her hair and dress her is very cute

Speaking of which mister Wei is definitely one of the most interesting characters so far. How can someone do so much bleak shit and still be such a morally grey and interesting character. He does those things not because he likes to do them but he thinks its the best for Lungmen and he himself wants things to change. He’s aware he’s got too much blood in his hands for that but he wanted Chen to do it. I think someone could write a long ass dissertation about this man really

So W turned out to be alive but she hates my guts for some reason and Kal’tsit has a weird relationship with me as well neither of them trust me meanwhile I’m just there “I don’t remember shit” lmao that’s kinda funny

Blaze/flint is kinda underrated

The real problem is Blaze is Rhodes Island’s burning blood powered community motorcycle, everyone gets a ride.

A lot of characters in AK have a person or group they are pretty connected to that leads easily into shipping dynamics. Rhine Fam, The Greater Lungmen Polycule, The Followers entire thing etc etc.

Blaze however is connected to several people across disparate groups that folks haven’t really settled into a favored ship for her and the group she’s connected to, the Elite Operators, are largely unknown or NPC’s for now. So it feels like none of the Blaze ships have a ton of content even though people obviously like Blaze.

I think a lot of this comes from a group wide mourning of what would have been a great matchup, Blaze/Frostnova. They were so perfectly fit in themes, motifs and personalities that nothing else hits quite right.

Anyway, this turned into A Thing but in general I do agree with you, Blaze/Flint is a great ship. I just think it’s interesting how the loss of Frostnova seems to have stopped Blaze from getting in on popular ship radars.
