some general tumblr things to note:

as you probably know, tumblr doesn't run on an algorithm

any content depends primarily on what blogs you follow + occasionally what tags you follow (less reliable. your main source will be by blogs)

tags serve mainly as an organizational/content marker, as well as for filtering purposes. tagging #fyp to get your content out there does nothing

to send an ask, click on the button beside the follow/following button on the user's blog - some people rename the 'ask' to some other things, which may make it hard to find

we are the faceless app. pls customize your blog a little so it doesn't look like you're a bot but do not feel pressured to reveal names/face/age/pronouns whatever

once again, the only way content is found is through reblogs. reblog things that u think are neat, no additions required :)

re filtering: you can block terms/tags/content you don't want to see on your dash (e.g. 'tw sexual assault'). here's a better post to explain trigger warning/tagging etiquette

ok onto general hockeyblr:

to follow tags, go into the search bar and type out #[tag] and click the blue follow button on the right. your basic starter pack of tags to follow in hockeyblr: #hockey, #nhl, etc.

but that's lame. and you're probably not gonna get any of the juicy stuff

following your team/the teams you are tangentially interested in and their popular player tags are often a good way to start breaking into the community (e.g. #pittsburgh penguins, #sidney crosby)

follow cool hockeyblr ppl! u can find ppl in your team spheres through the tags i mentioned above. there was also a hockeyblr directory made a while back (og masterlist is down but shoot me a message and i can get you some specific team lists. don't be afraid to ask ppl for recs too)

reblog, like, etc. esp with content creators/gifsets/etc. engagement does the heart good

wtf is liveblogging:

lots of users liveblog and post commentary during games!

you can find these posts in the lb tags, which vary by team and are sort of collectively known (e.g. #pens lb for pittsburgh)

some tags are a little less intuitive: #nyr lb or #rangers lb are both used for the rangers iirc, #bolts lb or #tbl lb have both been used for tampa - feel free to shoot me an ask/msg if you have trouble lol

big events, such as the playoffs, worlds, the all star game, etc may have their own special tags (e.g. #scp lb, #worlds lb, #asg lb, #team germany lb, etc). you'll figure it out as you go! and don't be afraid to ask for clarification

tagging your liveblogs are pretty important since:

it's fun to liveblog with a bunch of people on your silly little gang of guys! helps u find friends to follow, and

people who follow the opposing team might want to filter out your commentary (more info below)

ouch, yikes. i don't want to see that (aka, filtering/blocking)

coming back to filtering, the nice thing abt tumblr is that u can filter out whatever tags/blogs/keywords you don't want to see on your dash

go to your blog settings to live peacefully and with prosperity

you can filter out team tags/liveblogs/players, anything you want. in fact, u are encouraged bc not feeling extreme rage over some picture on the dash of the team that knocked your team out of the scp does the body good

filtered posts don't disappear entirely from the dash (in case u have fomo), but when a blog u follow posts about something in that tag, you will see a blurred post with the tags you filtered, as well as an option to view the post

some users also have specific tags that they may have created for organizational purposes and to help you block specific content (e.g. #nhl trade rumors are my personal tag for, you guessed it, trade rumors. some ppl don't wanna hear that, so easy tagging for filter)

on that note: filter and move on. don't go into opposing team tags/liveblogs and talk shit or stir up shit. you will be blocked by. a significant amount of people. play nice y'all, it's hockey

not really my area of expertise on tumblr, but there's a pretty big rpf/fic community on hockeyblr. follow or block as you need!

player relationship tags are a good place to look for content (e.g. #sidgeno, #8771)

use the :readmore: function on tumblr liberally if you're posting fics - full player fics in the player tags can suck to scroll through for an outside user

once again, don't be afraid to reach out and ask for help. best of luck navigating hockeyblr, you're sure to have a blast!

I do know several explicit self identified kink blogs that only have text. Thats quite common now especially since the Great Tumblr Purge. Ive seen some whump posts floating around there. Ive also seen some kink posts floating around whump tumblr. Especially with posts like “wow I just want to see a cute boy get beaten up” or whatever, there can be so much overlap.

Idk what the ~solution~ for minor issues are. I dont think there is going to be a way to make sure youth who are on the internet looking for Hurt People Content will NEVER stumble across something sexual tbh. But I guess the best we can do is try to make it clear what isnt for them on our own blogs (aka label up front things that will have noncon or whatever, maybe tag “hey minors dont go thru OPs blog” if we’re concerned) but if they decide to go click on everyone who reblogs a post… thats out of our control. The internet is, for better or for worse, full of all kinds of people who will reblog whatever they please, and some of them might be horny about it.

And our staff are already trying to make this website have as few nsfw images as possible with varying success so… 🤷🏻

I think whats more important than wringing our hands about whether or not someone of some age has a sexual though is being kind and helpful to the people who are in our community. As a minor wading through all kinds of nasty shit online back in the day™️, I could have benefited a lot from a community like this. Open conversations about consent and ethics and sexuality would have done much more for me than trying to keep anything remotely sadomasochistic as far from me as possible.

I think those are some great points, thank you! I want to say that I think it makes complete sense to say, state that you have to be 18 or over to interact with your blog, or asking people with nsfw blogs not to interact because you’re a minor, but you also have to remember that not everyone is going to check this or realise this.

While people should be able to message others and ask them to not reblog from them or comment on their posts, I also think that blocking is honestly fine and good and people shouldn’t be afraid to block simply for personal comfort. It doesn’t have to be a punishment. It’s just a way of curating your own experience.

I definitely think that it’s futile and harmful even to pretend that teens and young people don’t know anything about kink or sex. I am well aware that minors are going to have personal interests and fantasies and may well be trying things with each other, and honestly I just hope that they’re having open and honest discussions about this with their friends and with trusted adults in their lives.

I’m not responsible for online minors who follow me and I don’t want to know about your sex lives and interests, but at the same time if you don’t have someone you trust who will talk to you about this at home or at school or at a youth group, I would rather people came to me so I could give them age appropriate resources and guide them towards a more appropriate and safe source of information.

I would absolutely rather that young people have informed safe sex rather than being told that they should never think about it until they turn 18 and doing it secretly and getting hurt or hurting someone else in their ignorance. And I am well aware that teens are going to read sexual content, and probably read things that aren’t meant for them too, and I think there’s a difference between exploring and figuring things out in your own mind and actively seeking out adults to interact with them about that content. And it’s on the adults here to draw those boundaries and at the end of the day, block minors who are interacting with them inappropriately.

I finished watching she-ra yesterday! I decided to watch it after seeing your posts on my dash a lot and watched the whole thing in just over a week. Can you recommend some more she-ra blogs to follow?

i’ve recced blogs before but i barely knew anyone back when i did that. this time i know a couple more people and even tho im not like miss popular nor do i talk to every one i’ll do a blog rec that’s a tiny bit more thorough! (disclaimer, this is low key in order of people that showed up on my blog aka i reblogged something from them etc hgdfjsd not according to like. how much i love them or anything)

@catradoraism mmm i’m p sure i indirectly rec jules as a blog a few times every day, because of how i sometimes. talk about her. anyway i hate jules! but she does have a really great blog, she makes very good posts and is very talented. she can draw and write really well, and is just a lot more talented than me. follow her u will regret it but do it anyway <3

@catralatina mar is unfairly big brained. they are galaxy brained and make incredible posts and they get really good asks too! so if you’re looking for a blog who’s got good rapport w their followers, look no further! also they are a talented writer and i saw some of their art it’s good. one time they posted a picture from an atla comic and i thought they drew it. it was very embarrassing <3 but yes if you’re not following them u should!!

@catralovesgirls yo definitely follow izzy!! he has excellent takes and i’m like scrolling through his top posts section right now and it’s like impeccable. mine are hm! well! but if you’re following me following izzy would definitely be a step up <3 he also writes fic and i uh admittedly have not read any (sorry i have read like less than 20 catradora fics :( all of which came from page 1-2 of the tag filtered according to kudos. i’m still working on this oneshot but i will def check out his fics when i’m done and so should u all!)

Who the heck is my muse anyway:

Alex Miller, 20 (as of 2019), Explorer/Adventurer who spends their time studying the supernatural and magical elements of the forest.

Due to (semi)recent events, they are a reluctant god of space/creation and live on a new planet populated by at least 3 other sentient species, aside from humans.

Points of interest:

Maroon-red hair with a poofy curl of bangs, incredibly pale, floor length black trench coat, jeans and boots: This is what they look like 99% of the time.

A thick journal, an array of knives, and a few useful magic charms: this is what is in their coat pockets 99% of the time.

They are studious, attentive, and a little people/socially awkward. And near always willing and excited to help where and when it’s needed.

Alex has a dreamcatcher necklace charm that they made themself. When flipped like a coin, it opens a portal of bright light, color, and lightening which can transport the user to “anyplace of their dreams” AKA, think of a place and you’ll be there when you step through. It is their main source of long-distance travel. 

What they’ve been up to recently:

Taking care of their pets (3 dragons, 1 giant chicken, 1 cat, 1 dog)

Studying their new home, either by hands-on hiking through the woods or by checking out several books at a time on the history, myths, and trivia of the planet.

Traveling to/waiting inside the ruins of a temple where their boyfriend is currently asleep until an undetermined point in time. 

(This is an IC secret but) Alex just finished the main construction of a seaside house on a cliff for said sleeping boyfriend.

Studying a handful of magic related books to come up with new potions and/or charms from the existing spells.

Practicing their given god abilities (with mixed/little success, due to personal doubts)

Making a list and retrieving or crafting gift items for the upcoming holidays.

Where to find them:

In the woods on a hike, probably mapping out a trail or sitting and watching wildlife (specifically dragons)

In the City, either getting supplies (for magic or building,) food, or books (as stated above)

At the cabin, keeping busy with smaller tasks

At the apartment of Zack (brother), Frenchie (Moirail/best friend), and Toby (their son) usually for a family related activity like babysitting or dinner

At the ruins of the temple for the Page of Mind (as mentioned above)

A classified location (seaside cliff) for a classified reason (building a house)

Sometimes within the temple for the Prince of Breath (Ghostie’s place)

Current plan:

Mostly their “plans” consist of just... Doing what they’re doing now. Finishing projects, studying facts, playing with magic. Biding their time.

The idea of a proposal has been tossed back and forth.

Later, when they feel more “settled” (aka, everyone is awake, safe, and counted for) they will go off to more extreme adventures, or at least those that are farther from home/take a lot longer to complete.

There’s a very vague plot in the rough draft phase right now, but it’s more targeted to another pair of OCs... :3c

Desired interactions:

New people to meet! And not just a casual “hello” over the internet, but genuinely new friends that they can interact with. 

An exchange of information! Even if it’s just you talking endlessly about something you think is common in your life, if Alex hasn’t heard of it they will drink in every word.

A new exploration! Pretty much the same as above, but with locations rather than just information.

(they have a very, very small curiosity about pitch dating)

Offered interactions:

UNfortunately, Alex is a bit shy, so they won’t directly reply to stuff. FORTUNATELY, that means you can purposefully misunderstand what their “dash watching” post is about and strike up a conversation or press for answers.

As one might expect, Alex will ramble for days on end about both first hand knowledge as well as personal theories they might have on a supernatural subject, like the difference between dragon varieties or species developments or why a full moon and a new moon have magical properties.

Not that they’d ever ask, but test subjects for magic are welcome. Or better yet, throw an idea at them and they’ll accept the challenge.

In person interactions are absolutely a thing, especially because of their portal and their willingness to toss themself into spontaneous adventures of bored enough.

Basically any IC post is free for interaction, plus the inbox is always open and stuff.
