What I'm afraid of as a 12th gen fan is that with 15th gen getting a massive push lately Upfront has plans to graduate them with 9-11th gen soon. It would be crushing for me because for about 80% of 12th gen's decade in the group they had to sit back and let 9-11th gen be the stars of the show. It's not fair at all.

Yeah, I have to say that MM is really at its best between 9-12 members. More than that is unwieldy, less than that and you only have two subgroups of 4.
MM does tend to work best when the various generations have clumped into natural subgroups, 2-3 gens at a time. 1st and 2nd, 3rd and 4th, 5th and 6th, 7th and 8th, 9th-11th, etc.
And the groupings here are quite good, facilitated by the uneven distribution of graduations in the past few years.
15th and SakuRio have all of the makings of another god gen era, their levels of savvy ridiculously good from the get-go. They're sharp and spiky with energy and ambition, beyond just rookie energy (which MM tends to squash anyways).
Yokoyan fills in the 12th hole left by Haachin. It may be mean to say, but Yokoyan does indeed fulfill the comedic promise of Haachin. She can play boke and tsukkomi with better rhythm, chemistry, and enthusiasm, and that extends to her stage presence, as well. This is the grouping that made me post this in the first place, because I noticed that she and Hagalord are EXACTLY synced on their arm swings during the chorus. Haga (cognitive honors student that she is) must be watching her from the back and adjusting to match her movements. These two in particular remain in sync with each other in the rest of the song, too, including a very good vocal meld. UF should pay attention and highlight that elsewhere. Although, to be fair, the other girls visible during the chorus (pretty sure it's DaaSaku) are also in sync on that arm swing. The loose sync is real! Another point to notice is how all of them are bouncing in double time (with Haga and Chel the most precise about it). Most all of current MM has that rhythm LOCKED IN. This group is stuck in the shadows of 9th-11th, but they are genuinely at the top of their game.
Long term readers of my blog have probably noticed that I'm kind of tired of 9th-11th, but it's certainly not because they're bad at what they do, or their indomitable chemistry with each other. Intrigued that Daishi held down most of the falsetto harmonies here.
(For potential link rot purposes, this is MM 25th anniversary concert, Morning Coffee/Daite Hold On Me/Manatsu no Kousen)
