Yes, absolutely. The wind tribe only follows Soowon because Hak ordered them to. I think every general would accept Hak as their king, the only concern I have is Joodoh (well and Kyesook but you can replace him). On top of that Hak has also allies in Xing and some bond with Kuelbo and already mesmerized one of Kai's generals. I'm also worried now that Hak's missing, like he won't lead the army but Soowon and Yona. I want to see him lead more with tactics and stuff. He's also lacking a political plot isn't he?

Hak was raised to be a general and he can read the political situation well. I wouldn't be worried because he isn't involved in some political drama, he doesn't need to. He is a commoner who has severed his ties with his tribe (though they still love him).

I think that Hak is safe and in Kai now. It is actually interesting that he is missing because again we readers are reminded by Yona's words that all she has done so far was to protect Hak.

And Soowon? He was already thinking about where Hak could have been dragged way before Yona asked.

Joodoh and Kyesook will accept whoever Soowon chooses as his successor. Joodoh is worried for Soowon's safety, he is not against Hak no matter what. Same for Kyesook, I think.

We know that Hak can lead an army thanks to the past arc, I think that this time we'll see him deal with diplomatic work from inside Kai. Hak is impulsive, but he has already appreciated both Yona's and Jea-ha's skills in this field. We have never seen him using diplomacy, though. If the narrative is leading toward king Hak, we need to see his growth in this department too. The current situation is promising in this regard.

I’ve seen some comments about how they expected Jaeha to be more devastated by Hak disappearance and I’m just here to say my boy is WRECKED.

He’s the first one you see in the beginning of the chapter and just look at his body language. He’s exhausted, drenched in water and visibly in despair. We later find out that he’s been searching for 5 days nonstop for Hak. Him and Kija would’ve kept at it if not for Joodoh sending them back to let Yona and Soowon what was happening. Idk why but the relationship Jaeha and Hak have really GETS ME because they truly seem to understand one another and their dynamic is so amazing. And I can’t even imagine how Jaeha felt seeing Hak get enveloped by the water and not be able to get to him in time 😭

What do you think of SW's reaction in 216? I found it so out of character for him SW might be someone who is always in control of emotions but we know that Hak is the exception that when he gets involved SW gets upset and he can't hide it. But in 216?the way he reacted was off. Everyone else reaction was off, I thought they would be devasted but they weren't.

Well anon, my impression is different.

I think Soo-Won's reaction in this chap was as expected. And it just reminded me of the similar expressions he had when he heard of the news of Hakyona's death for the 1st time.

See what I mean....that same shocked & gloomy look in his face. You're right that Soo-Won is the type of person who has a great control over his emotions, even if he's devastated, he won't let anyone see it & will keep his composure. He's already gone through that trauma and tried to move on for the sake of his responsibilities but fate has put him in the same situation again....

But we can't expect him to shed tears or be upset in front of Keishuk or anyone else. Soo-Won is in the brink of his death...he's already so vulnerable. On top of that the current situation of his kingdom is pretty unfavourable, the fate of his people is at stake & his closest subordinates, Keishuk & Judoh are very worried about his condition.... So he can't afford to show more of his vulnerability in front of them. Which is why he didn't interfere when Judoh asked his approval of Hak's appointment or Keishuk's decision on sending him to jail. Hak & Yona are his weakness, he knows that very well. That's why he tries to avoid them or acts as if their existence didn't matter to him. But does it stop him not caring about them? Ofc not! We saw that his mind was secretly thinking of the possibilities of Hak's location and how he put his robe around Yona to give her warmth. He can't help it. This is how he is, was & will be till the end! Now the question is how long he'll be able to control himself? He keeps digging his feelings deeper & deeper to his core but there's a limit of it. Once he crosses it, he's definitely gonna shatter. And I'm waiting for that moment.

Even Yona tried to keep calm in front of her friends so that they don't feel more distressed and in front of Soo-Won too....until his kindness reminded her of her childhood Soo-Won & she eventually shatters in front of him. It was similar to this scene:

She finally cries & opens up whatever was going on her mind just like she did back then....

I think everyone's reaction in this chap was natural as expected. None of them feel like out of character to me. This chap was based on emotions & Kusa is very good at writing emotions esp regarding the trio. IT'S ALL ABOUT ANGST & LOTS OF FEELS!

How do you think soo won will react to what yona said in chapter 216?

I do think that he might do something. However he is chronically ill, deadly ill and it would be madness to go out on his own - though I must say that Soo Won has the tendency to be too reckless as well in some instances.

The best option would be if he told the dragon warriors his thoughts that Hak could have been washed to the other side and where they should search for him. But of course inkongnito.

Do you think Soowon will name Hak as his successor? In my opinion his criterias fit Hak pretty well but the narrative is rather pointing to Yona and she's the protagonist.

Oh I'd like to see Hak being diplomatic but I still can't let go of wanting Hak to lead in this big war.

I can't see Hak becoming king against Soowon's will, because now they are trying to cooperate finally.

On the other hand, at the moment Soowon wouldn't offer the throne to Hak because he thinks that Hak's hate is an insuperable obstacle. Once Soowon understands that Hak could consider it seriously instead of refusing just out of contempt, I think we could see this offer been made.

Soowon said to Zeno that Yona isn't a candidate. I don't see it changing, he doesn't seem biased after all. Yona would have problems with the loyalty of the Earth and Sky tribe, probably with the Water tribe too (her personal connection with Lily won't help with her father, imo). People love the dragons, not her. If Yona becomes queen, it won't be pacific as it would if Hak becomes king.

AnY has great female characters, but I believe it will stick with traditional roles for them in the end. King Il never thought of Yona as his heir, even if he believed that she was the incarnation of a god. I infer that it is unthinkable for Kouka to have a female ruler.

People might get disappointed, but all the important women in Kouka became important through marriage or as the daughter of an important man. Yona, Lily, Tao etc. I don't see Yona become the exception. The only way she can rule is as Hak's wife.
