It’s weird for Val and Vel, catching brief glimpses of Vox on the footage from the drones trained on the front of the hotel. It's such a sharp contrast to the version of him that they've grown used to over the past seven years. He seems happy, functional even, albeit just as frantic as ever. It pisses them off, thinking that Alastor and his band of idiots are doing a "better" job at taking care of Vox than them when this whole situation is Alastor's fault to begin with.

adding to the prev anon’s husker ask! Well not really adding, just throwing a Husker hc theory at the wall.

I think that the reason Alastor keeps Husker instead of killing him like he did with other overlords, is that possibly Husker had some kind of ‘code’ like Alastor does. But for debt repayment. Like, maybe the rest of his casino was just as rigged as Living ones are, but maybe when Husker played he played fairly and was just really really good? We don’t know if he would be the type to regularly cheat at cards- maybe he is! He’d be good at it. The house always wins after all. But he could also just have The Knack. Or have a good sense of Odds/probability, playing tactics and reading faces and tells etc, which could be of use for Alastor. What do you think?

I have a take on Alastor's backstory, based loosely on The Mariner's Revenge. Thought it would be a fun (tragic) motivation for his career as a killer, as well as an explanation for his moral code. TW for abuse and suggested SA towards his mom.

Alastor's mother used to be deeply in love with his father. He grew up with stories of a debonair gentleman who came in and swept her off her feet, who treated her with love and adoration, who was an equal partner through and through, in spite of their social differences. He even got to see some of it! At least, for a time.

He was a loving man and father, but over the years, Alastor noticed things that were... Off. Words spoken sweetly, yet that still seemed to make his mother wilt. Her smile never faultered around the man, but Alastor saw her when she thought she was alone. Alastor saw how she overextended herself, how she tired trying harder and harder to please his father, and began to pick up on how his father would use loving tones and soft words to manipulate her into giving him more and more of herself. (Walls were thin, and she wasn't always willing to give certain parts of herself, but he took anyway and Alastor heard.)

He became more distant with Alastor the closer he came to puberty, and at the same time, his mother's health started to fail her. She grew weak and sickly, and would often collapse from overexertion. Alastor's father grew irrate now that she had little left he could take from her. Gone were the sickly sweet words, replaced with pointed, scathing remarks, shouting, anything he could say to hurt her. Alastor took up the mantle of cooking and housekeeping, to help his mother and keep the ire of his father away from her.

He was already wary of his father, but at this point Alastor begins to hate him.

Soon after, his father became physical. He didn't do it in front of Alastor, but Alastor saw the bruises, and saw how his mother would flinch and cower in front of his father. (And he still HEARD. She only had one thing left he could take from her, and he took it nearly every night, whether or not her body could manage.) Yet, in front of Alastor, she still smiled as if nothing was wrong.

Through everything, she still treated Alastor as though he was the most precious gift she could ever have received. She tried her hardest to keep the reality of their situation away from him. She taught him the skills needed to run the home, singing his praises the entire time, forever expressing how much she loved and appreciated him. She was always assuring him that she was alright, saying that she was merely tired, that she just needed rest. She looked at him like he held her heart in his hands. And even in her sickness, she always did her best to keep his father's attention away from him.

It came to a head when Alastor turned 15. Alastor came home from school to find his mother on the floor, and the house in shambles. His father had been cheating for the last few years, and was stockpiling funds to run off with a new, younger, woman. He took anything of value in the house, including his mother's wedding ring. He had left them with nothing, and disappeared.

Alastor worked odd jobs to make ends meet, and took care of his sickly mother. He took to hunting and trapping to supplement their food supply. He studdied on his own, no longer having the time for school between work and caretaking. He tried his hardest, but his mother's health continued to rapidly decline as she spiraled into despair.

But she still smiled at him. She still tried to keep his spirits up. "Smile, my dear." She would say, cupping his face as he fussed over her. "You know, you're never fully dressed without one! And you have such a lovely smile..."

She became unable to do any of the things she used to love. Her hands shook too much to crochet or sew, she couldn't stand long enough to cook, dancing was far too much, and even reading became tiresome as time went on. Alastor always kept a radio playing at her bedside for company. He told her that he would get a job as a radio host, so he could be at her side, even while working. She told him that she looked forward to it, more than anything.

She only lasted two years after his father left them. She didn't pass on peacefully, either. She didn't want to die and leave her son all alone. She fought with all her might to hang on, even as her body failed her. Her mind crumbled apart, and she lived her final weeks in a haze of pain and delirium. She was grief stricken and filled with hurt, rage, and regret. She died with her greatest and final regret on her lips. "Find him, Alastor. Don't let him get away with what he did to us. Don't let that wretched man escape..." (Even in heaven, she regrets her final words every day.)

And thus, her rage is passed to Alastor. She has given him purpose, and the hunt begins. Any man who so much as reminds him of his father is a target. And as a teenager on his own, with barely any funds, well... Why waste good meat? Alastor found that humans and deer were not so different under a butcher's knife.

He's cut down before he finds him, so his hunt continues in Hell. Kills become more indiscriminate, since he can no longer identify him by sight. He could be anyone.

Aaaand that's it. Sorry it's so long, and I doubt anyone is gonna read it! But this little headcanon was swirling around my brain and I wanted to get it out! Also, Alastor has no clue that he's picked up some of his father's manipulative tendencies. He's not one for extensive self reflection.

Hands down.

Honestly, almost every TAD song deserves to be played at full volume, but this one. This one in particular. It calls to me. I have to belt it out every time I play it, regardless of the circumstances.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Joey and Madeleine are sirens.

Oh fuck, can I do Farewell Wanderlust again?

It’s a love song and a breakup song. It’s a song about being abandoned by your old god(s) and embracing new ones. It’s a song about regrets and missed potential. It’s about failing to live up to expectations, becoming a shell of the person you were “supposed” to be, and rising from the empty carcass to realize it was already rotting; that you can have more, be more than the life laid out by others.

But, if that’s cheating…

This song is so vague; it’s perfect. <3

Literally, the only set-in-stone themes are loneliness and companionship. It even uses they/them pronouns for the companion.

It can be read as queer platonic or romantic; you can insert whatever gender appeals to you. Queer-coded old af song. Monogamy is implied, but not like, super strongly.

I’ve applied this song to my current relationship and so many blorbos. (Mostly Alastor QPR ships, but some others, too.)

Most people are probably more familiar with the Frank Sinatra version, but I prefer Billie Holiday’s. I just… She. <3

Fire And Spining Flame Kicks

To use the fire kick first buy red hot kick. Then get Mach Speed. Punch something untill you are on fire. Then use red hot kick in Slow mo and your foot will be on fire as you kick. To do a Spining Flame Kick get red hot kick. Then get zoom in. Use a red hot kick in slow mo then hit zoom in. (You can do it again once by doing red hot kick, fire kick, or spining flame kick in mid air after the first kick.)

Beating Leo

This one is kind of complicated. What you have to do is wait for him to start running and shooting the bolders out of his back. When they land use hyper speed to destroy them and you will simultaneously catch fire, this will make you immune to his fireballs. Then while you’re still on fire run up to him in hyperspeed and hit him. This will disable his fire ability temporarily. Then he will try to hit you and you have to keep figting him in SLOW until you break his sheild. Hit him once or twice more and he’ll go into a hyper spin much like the ballerena robots. Dodge 5 of his attacks in a row w/out getting hit and he’ll get dizzy, but only for a second or two so be quick because as soon as you hurt him bad he’ll try to hit you and jump into the fire. Repeat the process.

Beat Hulk Davidson

When you first start the battle, he’ll be jumping around and trying to ram you. Easy to dodge. Just keep hitting him in slo-mo, whether he blocks it or not. When his ax breaks you have about 30 seconds to beat the livin-bajesus out of him. Sometimes, he’ll throw his ax or make missles come out of his desk. Hit the missles to make them go after him, and dodge his ax. And if you ever catch fire during this, use hyper-speed to cool yourself down.

Beat Gran Bruce

The beginning of the match is when you can do the most damage, until he fills the room with water. You can’t block his attack where he chatters at you, so don’t try, just jump around to dodge him. Don’t leave him alone in the water, or else he’ll start to regain health, fast. When he fills the area with mines, this is your chance to drain the water. Get to where a mine is in between you and him. When he chokes on it, slow time down, punch the mine in his mouth, and keep time slowed down to make the explosion bigger, draining the water.

Beat Another Joe

This match is actually easier than the rest, it’s just longer. He’s only got 2 attacks, 3 if you count the plane he pulls out. He’ll either surround you with 4-6 copies of himself, while other copies appear out of no-where and glide towards you to grab and punch/kick you, or, he’ll attack you first hand. Slow time down and attack him when he’s next to you. After about half-way through his health, he’ll bring out his (your) plane to help him. 3-4 hits will take it down, 2 hits to make it fall to the ground. You’ll get a hamburger when/if you destroy it. Keep hitting Another Joe until he’s down, and your done.

Beat Charles III

When the match first starts, you should be able to do quite a bit of damage before he first attacks. When he shoots up to the ceiling and you see the spikes coming down, slow down time to easily dodge them. When he shoots towards you, slow down time and punch him before he hits you. He’ll fall to the ground. Use hyper-speed to attack him before he gets back up. When he’s flying, hit him in slo-mo to break him up into a ton of smaller bats. Each small bat you destroy will deplete his life even more. Do this until he’s dead.

Beat Thunderboy

He’s got a couple of attacks. Sometimes he’ll shoot bolts of lightning at you. He’ll also electrocute rocks that will float around and shock you, you can jump on them though. You can hit the swords he throws at you and make them shoot back at him. When he gets next to you on the ground, try to hit him in the pool of lava. If you do, he’ll appear in the water fountain. Now go beat him up. Repeat.
