Alcohol in Thy Veins

I don't consider myself an alcoholic. I prefer the term alcohol enthusiast though. People may say that its just a fancy word for alcoholic, I'll leave it to you on how you interpret it. No matter what it means, point is drinking alcohol has been a big part of my life. I never really like alcohol growing up but it just came to a point where I accepted it as part of my lifestyle. It helps me unwind, makes me loose. So after one month and one week of being sober, I finally got to quench once more to alcohol. It may not seem to be a big deal but I guess it means a lot when you miss out something that has been integral in your life.

Truth be told my family history is filled with beer drinkers. I used to say that genes will come into play and sooner or later I'll be chugging beer like no other. Although I can proudly say that I have a great tolerance (or maybe I just overestimate myself), I'm also aware of its dangers and I know when and when not to drink. I had my share of "loser" moments. I vomited here and there, said stuff here and there but I grew. I learned to eat before you drink and always know how to carry yourself when you are in that "zone" already. While alcohol at times still get the better of me, its safe to say that I know how to carry my alcohol nowadays.

I guess it was in 2012 in which I entered a new level of alcohol drinking. That's when weekends were a constant booze fiesta and extra sessions during weekdays occur. That is when I finally achieve "ultimate drinker" status. I will drink any alcohol and I'll be the last man to stand, the guy that takes the last shot and the man that will probably accompany you home. However I wasn't the type of drinker that drinks to party or what not. I drink to chill, hang out with my friends, talk funny or serious stuff, pretty much like an old man but with a huge amount of tolerance. 

2013 came and I still got to practice my usual weekend sessions especially on Sundays. But it hit me one day that I really got nothing to prove. Yeah I don't get drunk easily, I can handle my alcohol. I don't have to drink a lot anymore but I still wanted to at least have a drink. Not a lot but just enough to make me loose, to feel tipsy, to easily say things that I want to express. In ways my drinking sessions became less but I feel sad when I miss out my "chill meditation". Just the past month, there were times when I cry is because I couldn't drink if I wanted to (I was under medication) and even if I try to have a drink, something happens and I am left to go home frustrated. So yesterday was a very refreshing moment from me. Two bottles of Emperador Light with friends was more than enough to make me satisfied once more.

Time will come that maybe I need a different way to unwind aside from drinking alcohol. I'm still young and you may say I still have a lot of years to drink, but I may not get those years because of drinking. I can handle myself if I miss out a week or two, but for now I probably will still need alcohol to get me through the week. Alcohol doesn't solve your problems, but hey, so thus a healthy dose of milk.
