Pete "Maverick" Mitchell
Don't Fear the Reaper
My call sign is Reaper, don't ask me how I became the Reaper. My ticket to Top Gun was a surprise to not only myself but everyone around me. My commanding officer believed that a female deserved a chance to prove herself to the many men that had already graduated from the prestigious training school. I've flown with many of them on prior occasions. Although I will make sure to create a legacy for myself this time, I took the chance and will prove to myself and those around me that a woman can have it all: a man, a plane, and prestige. "If I walk any further, my legs will fall off." With characters from the mummy maybe? <3
A/N: My first story for The Mummy! This one’s set during the 2nd movie, and reader is Rick’s daughter from a previous relationship.
Tumblr media
"If I walk any further, my legs will fall off."
You had travelled with your father to many distant countries. You could fight well with a sword, knew how to shoot a pistol from miles off, and was a history geek in every aspect useful. Rick always had difficulty keeping you away from the accidental danger of some of his expeditions, having barely shaken you off when he was soldiering, and such a task had only proved harder with each year as you grew in strength and confidence.
He knew it was more than an innocent craving of adventure. Though his blood ran through your veins and you loved a good mummy resurrection as much as he did, it was a subdued separation anxiety that ruled your every move concerning your family. Something about experiencing the death of one parent while constantly living in the shadow of death for the other had sparked something in you, an invisible tie between you and anyone you were close to that seemed a little tighter than it perhaps needed to be.
This particular adventure had taken it out of you, Rick could tell. You’d been searching for Alex in the lost oasis of Ahm Shere for long enough now. Though it was hitting you all hard, you were feeling it the most. You’d been lagging behind for a good hour, dragging your feet, not at all on your guard, and he had consciously slowed his own pace so he could walk behind you, just in case you ran into trouble.
These had been the first words you’d spoken since entering the oasis, and Rick sighed after hearing them.
“We can’t stop, kiddo,” he said, glancing around, “gotta keep moving if we’re gonna find Alex tonight.”
“We can’t stop for a minute?” Your voice had an edge to it, evidence that your desire to stop for a while was for something other than a pain in your legs he knew on any other day you’d ignore.
He increased his pace slightly to put a hand on your shoulder and squeeze in reassurance. “Come on, you’ve walked longer than this before.”
Your shoulders visibly tensed and Rick prepared himself for a verbal battle that would only worsen your moods and effect the search for Alex. You had a fieriness you’d mostly inherited from your mother, not that he much remembered how your mother had been in the one night they’d shared together.
You stopped, supposedly to turn and give him a piece of your mind he knew would only be induced by your anxiety over the kidnapping of your brother, but Ardeth spoke before you could, the Medjai stepping swiftly back towards you before you could open your mouth.
“I can carry you,” he offered, shifting his weapons belt around.
You rolled your eyes. “I don’t need to be carried. I need my brother.” You made to walk again, brushing past Ardeth just as he reached out and gently caught your upper arm in his grip.
“I am well used to your stubborn mind, little Y/N, but put that aside for now. The quicker you accept my help, the quicker we find your brother and return home. Yes?”
You glanced between Ardeth and Rick, to Jonathan and Evy further up the trail.
“Come, sweetheart,” Evy said, “rest your legs a bit.”
Rick watched with a heaviness in his heart as you struggled with the two parts of your mind. The one that screamed for independence and adventure, and the other that wanted nothing more in this moment than for your family to be together and safe. He knew you better than you knew yourself, and he was more than certain that all you needed was to feel someone against you for a little while and you would return to relative normalcy.
Huffing, you turned to face Ardeth expectantly. He smiled, nodded once, and bent a little for you to jump onto his back. He held you steady behind him and readjusted his grip as you wrapped your arms loosely around his neck and tucked your chin against his shoulder.
“You sure I’m not too heavy?” you muttered as he began moving again.
Ardeth chuckled. “I have carried injured men hundreds of miles through the desert. You, my dear, are hardly comparative.”
You inwardly sighed. You could already feel the tension leave both your body and your mind as you shut your eyes and thought about Alex. His boyish laugh, the love in his big heart, the hilarious jokes he sometimes spewed that were wise beyond his tiny years. You thought about them. You thought about the hug you’d give him when you reunited, and rested your cheek against the back of Ardeth’s head, matching your breathing to the bobbing of his movements.

It’s only a beginning (Ardeth Bay x fem!reader)
Tumblr media
To read my other works, check my MASTERLIST !
Paring: Ardeth Bay x fem!O’Connell!reader
Universe: The Mummy (1999) / The Mummy Returns (2001)
Word Count: 1777
Requested: @omgsuperstarg mentioned that they would like to read about wedding with Ardeth - so here it is!
Warnings: mention of food, crying. The phrase in italic at the end means that it is said in Arabic. I tried to show wedding traditions in Egypt and it could work out very poorly. I did online research, but there can be mistakes. I didn’t mean to offend anybody, but if it happens, please tell me, and I’ll try to fix this immediately.
If I forgot about anything feel free to write to me. Your wellbeing is important to me!
Summary: The one when the day they both wished for finally come.
Tumblr media
Even if she knew traditions came along with weddings, being in the centre of it felt completely different. Since Ardeth decided to unofficially propose, a lot has happened. Every free time she had, she spent it on learning Arabic - it didn't matter that they could speak in English, and she knew that his parents also knew that language. But she's going to live with his people. She would be the wife of their chieftain, so she thought about it as one of her responsibilities. She was a bundle of nerves when she met his parents for the first time. She remembered the kind smile of Ardeth's father, a smile so familiar to her lover’s smile that she had seen so many times. His mother carefully watched her. Miss O'Connell knew she was not fond of the thought that her son wanted to marry a foreign girl. However, she saw how this girl looked at Ardeth - like he hung all the stars in the sky. Taking a deep breath, Miss Connell looked at his parents and smiled shyly.
"May I?" - She knew the position of women in this world, but she saw that they were very welcoming. At his father's nod, she started talking. "I know that I am a stranger. I know... My knowledge about your culture has gaps, but I want to learn. I love Ardeth. I love him more than life itself. And I want to make him happy. I know how important you and your people are to him. And I swear I will do everything in my power to make it work. I'm not saying that I won't make mistakes. But I'll try, and I can only ask for your patience and help." - She felt Ardeth's calloused fingers gently caressing her hand and giving it a smooth squeeze. She watched his parents, who exchanged looks and smiled softly.
"My dear… It will be hard. The elders are demanding and traditional - they will try to find a mistake in your every move." The O'Connell girl bites her lip, afraid of rejection from the most important people in her lover's life. She squeezed his hand, looking down. - But I see that my son could not find a better woman to be his wife. You already showed that you are a warrior, like us, Medjai. There will be so much responsibility on your shoulders as a wife of a chieftain. You will need to win favour with older women, but you have an ally in us. - she looked at the older man and smiled brightly, not believing completely that they accepted her.
"You both have our blessing, my children." O'Connell moved her eyes at Mrs Bay, and even if she didn't cry a lot in her life, she couldn't help gathering tears. She looked at Ardeth, who smiled tenderly at her. Miss O'Connell didn't even notice when she stood up and hugged the older woman, who laughed in surprise. She held the young girl close to her, already used to the thought of having one more daughter.
From this meeting, they started preparing for the engagement and wedding. Men have started talking about mahr and shabka. Even if she wanted to protest, just one look at Ardeth was enough to stop it. She knew that he only wanted to fulfil the traditions of his people, and he just wanted to give her everything the best in this world. Not long after their contract was prepared and signed, preparation for their engagement started. It felt like preparing for two weddings, and even though she was shitless stressed, she couldn't wait to spend her life with Ardeth. Memories of Ardeth presenting her shabka were still alive. She was surprised by how generous he was with his gifts. All of this gold jewellery felt like too much. However, one look into his eyes showed her how important it was to him. And it really was important to him - she soon will be his wife, the wife of a chieftain, and he wanted all the people to know it. She felt the need to hold him close and kiss him senselessly, but it was impossible since they were around so many people. Looking into his dark eyes, she felt her heart beating fast and firmly. She couldn't tear her eyes from him throughout the evening, and when they put rings on the fingers of their right hands, she couldn't stop smiling. And then they sat together, holding each other's hands. Her eyes moved on their rings too much to not be seen by Ardeth. And he only could proudly smile at the sight of his silver ring and her modest gold band.
Their life didn't slow after this. They found a place to live on their own, and Ardeth took care to prepare it for them. She hated that they couldn't spend any minute alone, but she tried to respect his tradition. Thank goodness she had Rick and Evy, who would cover them up once in a while. These small kisses stolen in hiding taste amazing and only made them both even more impatient. She spent a lot of time with Ardeth's mother and other females in his family - she wanted to learn from them as much as she could to make his people accept her and do everything to make him happy. She wanted to be a good wife and good chieftainess. She spent hours trying to cook or learning a way to heal people. It was a great surprise to her when his mother and cousins prepared laylat al-henna for her, and it was probably one of the most beautiful nights of her life. Astonishing patterns decorated her hands and feet when her future family talked, sang and danced. It was the time when she felt truly accepted by them all, after a rocky start, when they wanted to check if she was fit to be a wife to their chieftain.
And then the most essential day finally came. Who couldn't believe how colourful and loud this day was, but the only thing she could think of was Ardeth. When she saw him in the crowd in his ceremonial robes her heart stopped for a moment. She found his dark eyes and couldn't help but smile. And his reaction was the same - he could be a chieftain to twelve tribes of Medjai, he could fight the creature twice, but seeing her in traditional robes took his breath away. She couldn't stop smiling and blushing at the same time when they exchanged oaths and signed the marriage contract in front of Maa'zoun and their closest family. After all the formalities were done, a colourful procession started. She could tell that most of the village was celebrating with them. She watched people dancing and singing when Rick led her to her husband. They took off her veil, and she held Ardeth's hand. He leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss on her forehead, making her close her eyes for a few seconds. When she opened them again, he was attentively watching, and she could tell that this was an emotional day, not only for her. She squeezed his hand, smiling with a desire to kiss him, but in her look was the promise of this, when they only will be alone. The procession started again, just as the music led them to the reception. She couldn't count the kinds of food at the tables and guests that came to give them their wishes or pinch her knee, which made her squeal at the beginning, to the happiness of people around. She made Rick, Jonathan and Alex dance with her. She even succeeded in asking to dance for Ardeth's father, and tears gathered in her eyes when he called her daughter. Her favourite ones were dances with Ardeth. She couldn't shake off the feeling of being loved, protected, and beautiful in his arms. This feeling didn't leave her whole day, especially when she caught him looking at her.
She thought her heart would burst from her chest when they came to the part with switching the rings. She looked straight into Ardeth's eyes when she slowly put off the ring she gave him on their engagement and put it again on his left hand. She watched him doing the same, and then he gently lifted her hand and placed a kiss just upon her wedding ring. His look was so intimidating that she couldn't help but gently touch his cheek, placing a small kiss on the second one and whispering: "I love you".
They had fun for long hours, spending time with their families and people from the village. And then, when nobody was looking or like the newlyweds thought nobody was looking, they just sneaked out to their new home. Ardeth quickly took her in his arms and carried her over the threshold. She quietly laughed, wrapping her arms around him and her hand unconsciously finding its way into his hair. They didn't need words, just looking into their eyes at each other was enough for them. She leaned down, kissing him softly, and everything came to them completely natural. They found a way to their bedroom, and without a rush, they took off each other's clothes and started exploring their bodies. They worship and praise another person, knowing that now nothing can stop them. And just before the morning, she snuggled into his naked side with a lazy smile on her face. She felt his toned chest under her palm and his calloused fingers slowly caressing her back. Ardeth rested his cheek against the top of her head, smiling.
"My love?" The silence of the night was broken by his raspy voice, and she hummed softly. "I feel like I waited for you for centuries… and I'm endlessly glad that Allah finally allowed our paths to cross." He moved his head and kissed her forehead softly.
"Oh, darling…" She rose in her forearm and looked into his eyes. "We waited for each other a long time, but now we have our whole lives. And I have the feeling that this is only a beginning because my love for you won't stop even after death." Ardeth gently pulled away from a lock of hair from her face, smiling lovingly.
"I will love you to the end of time." He gently cupped her cheek and kissed her deeply.
And their love lasted much longer than their lives - there were soulmates destined to find each other more than once, from ancient times to today. And they always found themselves, no matter what fate threw at them, and every time their love won.

We'll See - Alex O'Connell x Reader Part (2/?)
You go with your grandfather Roger Wilson as he helps fund Alex to find the Dragon Emperor's tomb but find that the family member you so admired is a sell out and has endangered you and the world.
Tumblr media
You waited for the men to walk a little further but you didnt want to lose sight of them, tombs could be a dangerous place and you weren't always the most careful. You darted from column to column and were glad to find that no one looked behind their shoulder. If your grandfather took notice of you, youd surely be sent back outside while they did a "man's job" as he liked to say.
It seemed that that was only applied to you however and it frustrated you to no end. Part of you understood he was simply trying to protect you but you ached for more in your life than just standing at the sidelines, following others as they made discoveries. You took a deep breath and switched your flashlight to your other hand, wiping your palm against your pants to help with the sweat. What if something actually exciting happened and you had slippery fingers?
You ducked your head to the side watching Alex move about, his eyes taking in everything. And boy were you glad he seemed to notice things before everyone else. Your grandfather had been leading the men and before you could blink Alex was shouting, "Watch out!", as he tackled the elderly man, as the two swinging objects met. You came out completely from behind the column, fear gripping your heart as the ringing in your ears from the thunderous noise faded and the dust cleared. Both Alex and your grandfather were fine and you let out a relieved sigh.
However, in your worries state you'd revealed yourself to the three other men. They stared and you gave a sheepish smile as Alex turned around, his eyes narrowing at your presence. "Y/N," he stated simply.
"What about my granddaughter?" Wilson turned around in curiosity but his nostrils flared and his cheeks puffed out slightly. "In God's name, what are you doing here, dear? Go back immediately, I wont tolerate you putting yourself in harm's way."
You wrung your hands together, shame filling your gut. But you met his gaze anyway and put your foot down. "I'm not leaving. You were in more danger than me seconds ago. I have to say grandfather, you have a sharp mind but you are getting older, I'm young and quick on my feet. If you can be here so can I."
The poor man looked baffled. How dare you speak that way to him, after all he'd done for you. But you were your father's daughter as well and you had guts. It took some pushing to get you to such a point but he realized that if you wanted to be there he wouldn't be the one to make you leave. He looked to Alex and then back to you, a question in his eyes.
Alex scratched at his stubble and looked you up and down once again, lingering in a way that made you want to blush but you tried to appear immovable. "If she dies, it's not on me." You grinned despite his morbid words and flicked on your flashlight as you followed much closer behind them.
He found Sir Bembridge and you and your grandfather cringed as his head toppled off his shoulders, his skeleton pinned to the wall. You wanted to stay a moment longer, wanted to honor this man somehow but your grandfather was already pressing on and so you had no choice but to keep going as well.
With the sound of grinding stone, squares in the wall opened up, dropping sand from high above and shedding light on row after row of soldiers. Their expressions blank and their bodies frozen in time. You stared in wonder even as the urge to sneeze tickled you, the dust and sand had settled into every part of your body but you have never felt better.
What a thing to witness. Alex grinned at you and you found yourself grinning back. Your heart was full and warm and you gave credit to the rich historical sight before you and not the boyish smile you'd received. Everyone waded between the isles of soldiers, hands delicately pressing against and soaking up the stories these men had to tell. You followed your grandfather and mused at every single person, wondering about their names and lives thousands of years ago.
But that quickly vanished as you heard a shriek and you tried to see where the commotion was coming from but you couldnt see above the soldiers. You could hear Alex saying the man's name. Chu Wah. Your grandfather set his hand firmly on your shoulder and you two quickened your pace as you hear rattling and then the sound of another man shouting as he sprinted, arrows flying after him. "Y/N, go!" You were told and you too began to run, worried you wouldn't be quick enough from whatever might come your way. You were behind your grandfather and he was behind the third man to join your group.
You looked around wildly trying to see what might try to leap out at you and end your life but nothing ever touched you. You saw the third man pushed your grandfather to the side and a sharp disk lodged itself in his chest. You gaped at him and wonder if hed been trying to save your grandfather as hed done or if hed been meaning to rush past and save himself.
You supposed it didnt matter.
Finally the barrage of weapons finally stopped but only Alex, you, and your grandfather remained. Alex looked at the fresh corpses of his men and you saw the guilt flash before his eyes. "If she dies, it's not on me," you recall him saying but seeing him now struggling against your grandpa to go to his men you doubted that. It might not be on him but you believed he saw it that way.
"Alex, they're dead! This kind of danger comes with the territory, you know that better than anyone," your grandfather said shaking the younger man's shoulders trying to get him to snap out of his sudden grief. That seemed to work and he finally stopped struggling, instead his eyes caught yours.
"You alright?" he asked and you weren't sure but you thought you could hear his voice quiver the tiniest bit. You thought about his question and nodded. "He's right... comes with the territory" but even as you said it you felt your hands shaking and if you had a mirror you were sure to find the color gone from your face.
Alex scanned the area and announced that the soldiers were facing one point, as if looking to the emperor. Your grandfathers face reddened and he growled. "You dont think some bloody grave robbers beaten us to the prize, do you?" Alex shook his head but you intervened, crouching right beside him as he pulled out his canteen.
"It's a feng shui compass," you supplied and Alex poured the water into the bowl, glancing at you with an impressed look in his eyes. "The emperor is still here, I'm sure. But the compass is facing in the opposite direction. So if we fix it..." you trailed off as Alex sprang to his feet.
"Yes, yes! Y/N you're absolutely right, we just have to realign it." You felt quite proud of yourself, at least you aided them in some way.
You helped them spin the stone circle around when suddenly the floor sank, making you unsteady on your feet. Both you and Alex fell but you were able to catch the ledge, your fingernails digging in as your grandfather stepped back and for a fleeting moment you thought he was going to let you fall but he was simply getting to a safer spot before grabbing your hand.
He tugged you up yet Alex remained below. You both yelled his name, but the silence stretched on. You grabbed your flashlight and pointed it towards where you thought he fell as your grandfather asked Alex to speak to him. You searched but it was hard for the light to penetrate the dusty air.
"I'm fine!" He yelled up but his voice was faint.
Just how far had he fallen and what had he found? ____________________________________________

Y/N got in the apartment she shared with her best friend Caroline,  some time around the dawn.
Caroline greeted her friend and said-
"We shouldn't have gone out- I am so wrecked- and today is our first day at ‘Salvatore University Hospital’-
"I know"- Y/n said-"where did you go?"
"Rousseau's - and it was- I met this guy- wow- it was so- the sex was on fire."- Caroline said.
"Really? You had a one night stand?"- Y/N couldn't believe what she was hearing-”what about finding that one true love?”
"So what? Can't we just have like one time fun. We studied so hard and- Tyler and I broken up- so- anyway- where have you been?"
"Ah, well. I am no better than you are-"- Y/N said taking a bottle of water out of the fridge. The way Y/N smirked, her friend knew that she hooked up with someone as well.
"Oh, God, he is so dreamy."- Y/N said-"and- huh- like you said - the sex was on fire."
"OMG, Y/N??? What about Kai?"- Caroline asked.
"What about him? He cheated with Katherine, so-"
"But I thought you've forgiven him!"- Caroline said.
"Ok, can we not now- I am going to bed."- Y/N said now her mood changing and went to her room.
¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤
Morning
Klaus’ apartment
"No, Rebekah."- Klaus Mikaelson said to his sister now switching off the loudspeaker, taking his phone from the kitchen counter-"Camille filed for divorce, and so be it."
"You two were so good together. I am sure if you sit down and talk, she will see that this one time with Hayley meant nothing, same as hers with Marcel. She was hurt and -" -Rebekah said on the other side of the phone.
"Look, we tried- but- let's just drop it. I got this job here now. And- I don't think of going back to New Orleans. I thought that you of all people would be happy that I am back here."
"I am."- Rebekah said-"ok- got to go to work. See you later. We have to talk about father and mother's anniversary thing."
"Yes. Later."- Klaus said and took his car keys and his backpack, exiting his apartment.
At the same time, elsewhere
Joel Goran, who was leaving his apartment, answered the phone-
"No, dad, I don't think that we will be there this weekend. Alex and I are kind of in a strange place right now- Nothing happened. Can I call you back? I am late as it is."
Joel now hung up and got into the car, driving off to the hospital.
And the two best friends?
Y/N and Caroline, were not far behind. After the eventful night, the were ready leaving their apartment, very much ready to take on another challenge in their lives, as if anything had ever been difficult for them. School and college was easy, but their love lives were pretty messy. Mostly falling for the wrong kind of boys. In Y/N's case, the Lockwood brothers, Mason and Tyler, both extreme bad boys. And in Caroline's case, long High-school on and off relationship with Tyler and then the same with Enzo St. John during college.
Their phones now rang almost simultaneously.
"Hey, Bon"- Y/N said-"we are on our way. OMG- last night was crazy. Tell you later- Ok- See you."
"Hey Ray"- Caroline said-"I still can't believe I did what I did- and he was unbelievable. I got to go now, but I will tell you everything later."
The friends now got in their respective cars and drove off.
Soon, they would receive the greatest shock of their lives, as Josette Parker introduced the supervising physicians to them, as well as the other interns starting their five year program to become surgeons supreme.
"You are the best of your generation, and that is why you got the place here. You will be taught by the best, and they will expect to give more than your all. So, let me introduce you to your Attendings"- Jo now introduced each one one of the Attending physicians-
"Dr Joel Goran, Trauma and orthopedics, Dr Alex Reid, Cardiothoracic surgery, Dr Alaric Saltzman, Neurosurgery, Dr Vincent Griffith, General surgery, Dr Meredith Fell, Paediatrics"- she introduced some more, who could not be there at that very moment. She finished with a special introduction -" and our new addition to the team Dr Niklaus Mikaelson, Plastic surgery."
Y/N as well as Caroline, was wide-eyed as they saw Joel and Klaus enter the conference room. Both surgeons were not less wide-eyed as their eyes set on the women. Never ever, not in their wildest dreams could they have imagined  that their one night stands they would be interns they would have to work alongside with. What were the odds. Only universe knew.
Both, Y/N and Caroline, exhaled as neither of them were assigned to their respective one night stands.
As they went to change, the two friends both now exclaimed in one voice-
"This is some kind of a crazy joke?! How could he be-?
Y/N now looked at Caroline and asked-"Who -?"
"Klaus!"- Caroline said.
"You were with Klaus Mikaelson?"- Y/N said amazed.
"Yes. I can't believe it. Rebekah's big brother! What is he doing here? Doesn't he live in New Orleans? "- Caroline said to her sister.
"Well, obviously he is back."- Y/N said.
"Obviously!"- Caroline said-"after thousand years."
Even though, Klaus' sister Rebekah was their peer, as well as their arch rival in High-school and pretty much later on, they never met Klaus, as he went on an exchange programme to Britain when he was 15 and stayed on to study medicine in Oxford for later on, deciding to live in London, where he would meet Camille O'Connell, and years after married her, settling in New Orleans.
"And yours?"- Caroline now asked her sister.
"Joel Goran."- Y/N replied.
"That is 'Dreamy'??- Caroline said.
"Yeah, but he so didn't look like a surgeon."
"And how do surgeons look like?"- Caroline remarked.
"Like -Granpa! Not like this-"-Y/N looked for a right word to describe Joel, and finally spit out-"Rock star! This is so mad!"
"Yeah, madhatter mad!"- Caroline agreed.
They were hurried now out to their stations. And so, they postponed the conversation about the hunky surgeons.
Joel, same as Klaus, tried to get his head around that the woman he had a quite a hot nightstand was an intern,  and now they would have to work side by side.
Joel found it particularily hard as he was involved with Dr Alex Reid, his on and off girlfriend, even though their relationship was already on very shaky grounds, and her finding out that he picked up someone from the bar would put the nail on it.
As he finished in the OR, he now looked to find the right moment to speak to Y/N. After a while, he saw Caroline. As they were introduced to them earlier he had figured out that Y/N were friends and he, now approaching her asked.
"Dr Forbes, so how do you find your first day at work?"
"Hectic."- Caroline said and then continued-”Y/N is in the OR. She was assigned to Dr Griffith’s team.
"Yes- right."- Joel now said with a nervous gulp. He asked for a sandwich and he got it turned to her and said-" Ok. I will see you around."-and went away. Y/N really got to you, ha?! - Caroline  thought as she looked for a second at Joel walking away. But that was Y/N's business, and she had enough of her own to deal with. She now took her coffee and went to the elevator. As it opened, there it was-  Klaus stood there and they both now muttered a clumsy hi. Klaus stepped back in the elevator and Caroline walked in with a couple of other people. She stood  right next to him. They just exchanged a little glance, but kept quiet during the ride, and as they got to the ward, stepping out of the elevator, Klaus then said-
"Well, fancy seeing you here as an intern."
"Yeah, it's kind of mad."- Caroline said.
He looked at her, getting lost in the moment as the night before came flashing in.
Flashback
Tumblr media
Snapping out of it he now said-
"Can we talk?"
Caroline nodded a little and Klaus now gestured towards the on-call room.
As they slipped in, Klaus started-
"About - last night", but Caroline cut him off-
"What about it?"
"Ahm- nothing really. I just wanted to make sure that- I - just- this whole situation is  - unexpected."- Klaus said.
"Yeah, it really is. Don't worry. It was just one of those things."- Caroline said.
"Yes, it was."- Klaus said with a little sigh of relief-"Ok."
"Ok."- Caroline said now trying hard to stay cool in his presence, but it was not much different for him, her warm ocean blue eyes luring him, disarming all his defences.Taking a small silent sigh, he now said-
"Now that we got this cleared up- we can go -"
"Yeah, you are my boss- sort of and -"
And the and finished with their lips now locking into a heated kiss. Breaking it off abruptly he now said-
"This is -not right. I shouldn't have- Forget this, ok? I am really sorry, but - I have to go."- Klaus then exited the storage room, pulling himself together. What was happening to him? Was it some weird magic in her eyes that just couldn't keep him away from her. He shook his head now slightly and tried to focus on work.
Caroline stayed on for a second closing her eyes as she leaned on the door, trying to deal with all the kisses had just stirred up in her. And he was right. If they start something it would only lead to complicatios. But the night before and the kiss  now was magic and her heart now flew as she smiled. "Get a grip."- Caroline muttered  and got out of the room. Walking down the corridor she stumbled upon Jo, the Attending, and also the sister of her best friend’s ex- boyfriend Kai, who actually never liked her much.
"Where were you?"
"On my break."- Caroline said somewhat guiltily.
"Right. I know that you and your best friend have the IQ of Albert Einstein, but that doesn't mean you can do as you like."
"Dr Reid said we could have a break."- Caroline said.
Jo sifted something and then sent the blonde off.
Y/N was already been pretty busy in the OR. And as she got her break now, she went to see if she could find Dr Goran. And the nurses directed her to the doctor's lounge. And as she was a few feet from the lounge, she now heard him and Alex talk-
watch video!
and a little after Joel said- "we make this work"- Y/N walked away her heart now crumbling a little.
to be coninued…

We'll See - Alex O'Connell x Reader
(Part 1/?)
You go with your grandfather Roger Wilson as he helps fund Alex to find the Dragon Emperor's tomb but find that the family member you so admired is a sell out and has endangered you and the world.
Tumblr media
"Do you think he's close to finding the entrance by now, grandfather?" You ask as he peered across the landscape, his eyes squinting as the sand got kicked up by the wind and the horses' hooves. It made the air grainy with earth and your smacked your lips hoping to get rid of the gritty feeling that seemed to have settled all over your body.
"Yes, yes. Probably soon..." He trailed off still occupied with everything that wasn't you and your heart dropped a little. You rocked lazily on your tame horse and pouted. Your pout turned to a frown however when your dear family member spotted a certain figure in the distance. Damn Alex O'Connell and damn your grandfather for putting more effort and time into him than you had ever received.
As you stared at the two men conversing and walking on you felt so out of place. You admired Alex's mother, she was a quite a role model and inspiration to you, she'd done amazing things along with her husband and you. But you'd never be her or even similar to her. You kicked at the ground as you realized you'd probably never get the chance to do more than sit and observe, always getting told to hang back when things got interesting.
Disheartened, you stayed in your spot by the horses as the men walked on, thinking about how every time your grandfather had talked to on your journey it had all about how Alex had found the Bembridge Journal and how he knew Alex was a bright, talented lad. Alex, Alex, Alex. You were sure he was as bright as was said but all you felt towards him was envy.
You huffed and tried to clear your mind from your intruding thoughts which didn't take long once you heard shouting. Someone had found the entrance. You gritted your teeth and turned away, trying to block out the sounds of the monumental discovery.
The chance of your grandfather letting you poke around was slim to none but your curiosity tugged at your tense limbs and broke the chains of your hesitancy. You held back for just a second longer then walked towards the opening of the Dragon Emperor's resting place.
You would not be left out.

Evy x Rick
•Hiii i was wondering if you could do a rick x evy thing where they meet rick/evy's parents? lots of luck xxx•
😊 I went a different route with this ask but I hope I did it justice.
Tumblr media
When Evy found out she was pregnant it was like the whole world stopped for a minute. She wasn't quite sure how her husband would react and it worried her. Would he be happy? Scared? Resentful even? Their lives revolved around adventure and this was surely the scariest one yet. But what if Rick didn't see it that way?
She paced around their room, a book in hand. Evy hadnt opened it all day, the news filling her mind and removing any chance of getting lost in whatever world she opened up next by turning the pages. However, the weight was comforting and she needed it to ground her otherwise shed work herself into a panic.
Taking a deep breath she squared her shoulders and set off to find her handsome husband. Everything would be fine, even if they hadnt really talked about starting a family. Oh lord, what if it wasnt fine? Her heart jerked painfully, and she had to pause again. How would she say it?
Rick, love, you're a father," Straight forward, not a terrible option. "Guess who is a dad now?" No, no. "Dinner is at 6 o'clock tonight, oh and by the way I'm pregnant," Maybe.
Evy had never stumbled over words or how to say something regardless of her occasional clumsiness, but with this she found that anything she thought up wasn't good enough.
Rick found her chewing on her lip, eyebrows scrunched to the center of her heart shaped face. A puzzled look clouded her clear sharp eyes and he wondered what might be on her mind.
"-y. Evy. Evelyn?" Her head snapped up and she let loose a chuckle. Her cheeks were more pale than usual and it made his heart sink. Was something wrong? Was she sick?
Rick grabbed her shoulder gently and lead her to the nearest study. He guided her to the poshest chair and then he set himself against the desk his fingers gently reaching out to touch her face. Her shoulders dropped and she nuzzled her cheek against his hand, her own coming to trap it in place. Her palms were sweaty against his skin.
"Tell me what's wrong." He demanded. Rick didnt like silence when he could feel a thousand words brewing beneath the surface. Like hot water that refused to boil.
Evy turned and kissed his palm then looked to him. She studied his face and a smile tugged at her lips. Oh, their child would be so handsome. She found her strength in that and grinned.
"We're having a baby,"
Rick stared ahead like he hadnt quite heard her. A couple seconds of this was fine, she decided. It was a surprising thing, he needed time to let the shock settle. But thirty seconds passed, then a minute. His hands were clasped together and his eyes were trained on her nose. The only thing that let her know he hadnt turned into a statue was that his leg bounced gently.
"W-we are? You mean you and me?" He finally breathed.
Evy nodded and she continued to look him up and down. She couldnt decide how he felt but she realized he was probably unsure about how he felt too. He got on his knees, his hands holding hers and she sat in the chair.
"Are you okay, love?"
A rushed "yeah, yeah, o' course" escaped his lips and she was sure it was mostly for her benefit. The panic had left her completely but a dull disappointed ache replaced it. Why wasnt he happy?
Evy stood suddenly then, Rick's hands dropping from her own. She tried to swallow the lump in her throat as she informed shed be in their room. When he heard the door to the study close behind him he knew he should have reacted differently but the first place his mind had gone when realizing hed be a father was that he didnt have an example.
Rick was an orphan, he didnt have that father figure to show him how to raise a kid. He knew plenty of men and some had kids but that wasnt enough to make you a good parent. What if Evy realized shed married the wrong man? What if she realized he was brave yet broken and his entire life wasnt marked by loving family and peace but war and danger?
Rick knew love and he knew loyalty and what made a good bond but those were between men hed fought with and struggled for survival with. But none of that could help him in raising a new life. Love wasnt enough even if it was a powerful force.
He could always learn to change a diaper and feed them from a bottle but was he equipped to teach them?
Rick was scared but he also knew his lovely wife was probably upstairs trying to hold back her emotions and fall head first into whatever book was on her nightstand, but he knew she wouldnt be able to focus, she never could when other things were going on in her beautiful mind.
He cracked open the door just as she slammed the book down and hung her head in her hands. "Evy?" He knocked on the door, ducking his head around the corner hed made for himself. "Is it alright for me to come in?"
She sniffled and Rick's heart gave a sad thump. Had he made her cry by his lack of response? Did she feel so strongly about this? Of course she does, O'Connell! He scolded himself. They were going to have a child and hed been too in his own thoughts to have a proper reaction.
He sat next to her and the mattress dipped under his weight, his arm pressed against hers. She immediately rested her head against his shoulder.
"I want you to know that I am all for it, the whole having a kid thing. You're the only one I've ever even thought of having a family with. But we havent talked much about it so y-you shocked me," he began, hoping he didnt say something wrong.
She listened quietly, her fingertips dragging from the crease of his elbow down to his closed fist where she smoothed his fingers out and intertwined hers and his together.
"You know I didnt have much of a family life growing up... What I'm trying to say Evy is, I'm not sure I know how to be a parent. I'm... scared, alright?" He let out a shaky breath and she scoffed.
"And you think I know how to be a mother? We're both scared, hell, I'm terrified! I understand why you reacted the way you did but just like everything else, we are in this together."
Rick rubbed his nose against hers and let a smile slip out. "Yeah, youre right. If it's with you then this baby thing shouldn't be so terrible."
Evy smirked and had to try not to laugh. "How hard can it be? We already take care of Jonathon."
"Oh god, please don't let them be like your brother"
Evy kissed his jaw and he felt settled and more sure than he had even though he was positive this would be quite the wild ride. He may have not had parents of his own but hed do his best to be a good father.

Summary: The one where their life together started.
Tumblr media
Events in Ahm Shere were traumatic for the lack of a better word. Rick became more overprotective of his wife and son, and nobody could blame him for that. The O'Connells had already planned their journey to London, where they could stay low for a little bit, rest and just be with each other. Jonathan started planning his new incredible business and probably was gambling somewhere. Ardeth Bay was performing his duties as Medjai's chieftain. And it all left the younger sister of Rick O'Connell all alone with the overwhelming guilt she felt in her heart. She still could have heard Alex screaming when he was taken. She remembered how her heart stopped at the sight of the gun near Ardeth's head. Miss O'Connell couldn't forget Evy lying on the sand after she had been stabbed. She remembered her brother's face when he nearly fell into the underground. She remembered the fear she felt when they all stood at the top of the pyramid and when Jonathan nearly fell. It didn't matter that they all were alive and the world was safe again. It didn't stop her from waking in the middle of the night when she couldn't breathe, and tears were running down her cheeks. No matter what, she couldn't stop thinking that she could do something more. That she could prevent all of this from happening. So she tried to keep herself as busy as she could, using every pretext to go out.
She walked between the stands at the market, wanting to buy some fruits or sweets for Alex. She gladly welcomed such a familiar atmosphere, where the people were talking or arguing about prices or items. She spent much more time than was needed, and her feet hurt when she went back to their place. She was lost in her mind when she heard somebody calling her name. She turned around and felt her heart beating faster at the sight of Ardeth's silhouette. She smiled, waiting for him to catch up with her.
"Ardeth! It's so good to see you alive." Her smile grew wider when he stood next to her, and she gently touched his arm covered with black material. "What are you doing here? I thought you had a lot of work with tribs." Since they first met in Hamunaptra, she thought he was incredibly handsome. It didn't change when his people pointed guns at them. And it didn't change after these eight years when they talked so little. And the time they spent together on the airship only made her feelings stronger.
"That is true, but I wanted to see if you are alright. After the battle, I only saw that you all survived." Her heart skipped a beat hearing his accent, and when she realised that worry was written all over his face.
"We did. And we are good, more or less." She looked down and fixed her hold on the basket she had. "After we separated in the oasis, a lot happened. Too much and too scary to tell in the middle of the street. Especially if you don't want to make me cry." She laughed, trying to cheer up the whole situation. "Come, let's find a quieter place, and we could eat some of these sweets. Rick will kill me if I give it all to Alex."
Ardeth nodded at her, and she just smiled. He took the basket from her, and they started walking to their place. A few times, his hand gently brushed the small of her back, and it made her cheeks blush. They sat at the bench hidden in the Terrace. She took out their favourite sweets, and they started talking. When she started crying, he took her hand between his, squeezing it gently. And the feel of his calloused fingers around hers brought the peace she needed. And they didn't let go of each other's hands for the end of his story.
"When I saw the rest of the Anubis army... I knew that if you didn't win or some miracle happened, we won't make it. And the only thing that I could think of was you. That I'll probably never see you again."
"But you did. We are both alive." She whispered, putting her other hand on the top of his.
"I... I can't imagine my life without you in it." She bit her lower lip, trying to stop the smile that came on her face.
"You know that one word is enough for me to stay with you."
"But it would mean leaving your family. And the fife in the tribe will be completely different from the life you had in London." He was looking directly into her eyes, trying to see what she was thinking and feeling right now.
"I already felt like a third wheel with Rick and Evy. It's time to start my own family. And it's not like we can send letters or meet in Egipt or London once a time. I lived here for so long, and I loved every moment of it. I am sure that with you by my side... It only gets better." She gently touched his tattooed cheek, rubbing it with her thumb.
"You know that as a chieftain, there is a possibility that I will need to go away often." He squeezed her hand.
"I know. And as long as you will come back to me, I am okay with it. I will somehow find my place among your people. And maybe sometimes I could go with you? After all, I helped to destroy the creature. Twice I would say."
"Don't forget that you woke him up the first time." Ardeth fought with a smile at her determination.
"It doesn't matter. Imhotep is dead now. And hopefully, he will stay this way. However, I must say that I'm sorry for him. He made it all for love. And at the end, Anck-su-namun just ran away..." She looked away from the moment and closed her eyes. She felt how he gently pushed a strand of her hair away, stopping his hand on the back of her head. When she looked at him, he was smiling.
"You are too good for this world." She couldn't stop her smile, and both of them leaned down at the same time, connecting their lips. Her arms snuck to rest around his broad shoulders. His hands gently stayed on her waist, pulling her a little closer. It was a sweet, short kiss, and when she tilted her head slightly, she could stop smiling. His eyes didn't leave her beautiful face.
"Stay." Ardeth gently rested his forehead against hers. "Stay with me and become my wife."
"Always." She giggled, feeling tears gathering in her eyes once again, but this time her heart was light like never before. "Marrying you will be an honour." She caressed his neck and cheek with her fingers. "I love you, Ardeth Bay."
"I love you, my dearest." She kissed the corner of his lips, and they both looked to the side, hearing giggling behind bushes. Very quickly, it turned out that it was Alex and Jonathan. She laughed when they started arguing in their typical way. Then Carnahan looked at them with a smile.
"Come on, lovebirds! Looks like it's time to celebrate!"
Miss O'Connell couldn't stop laughing when she watched her family running inside. She stood up, standing before Ardeth with sparkles in her eyes. She pulled her hand to him, smiled widely, and he took it, bringing it to his lips to put a small kiss on its back. He could see that her cheeks blushed a little, and she rested her hand on his elbow. It was the very beginning of their life together.

Festive prompts #19 for Ardeth x Reader cuz I’m feeling it
Tumblr media
Evy and Rick had decided to host Christmas this year at their place. They certainly had enough room to have many people over, with space to spare. Yet they were still keeping it an intimate gathering of those who meant the most to them. Baby Alex babbled softly in Rick’s arms as Evy put the finishing touches on the place settings.
“Are you sure I can’t help at all?” You asked, feeling bad for just sitting and nursing your hot chocolate that was starting to grow cold.
Her lips turned up a tad deviously. “You could help our last guest once he arrives but other than that I am sure Y/N.”
Jonathon was already here. You didn’t want to hope too much, it had been an entire year since you’d last seen him. It could be someone else entirely. You weren’t sure who Evy and Rick’s friends were. They had as many friends as enemies it seemed nowadays.
Yet once the doorbell rang you were sprinting out of your seat, to the amusement of the O’Connells. As you opened it you couldn’t help your grin as you threw yourself at the dark haired dream you’d come to care for deeply.
“Good to see you Ardeth,” You spoke gently as he grunted, balancing himself as he wrapped his empty arm around you.
“Y/N, I’d hoped you’d be here as well,” He said, burying his face in your hair, content to feel wrapped up in your gentle floral scent. Whatever shampoo you bought must have had enchanting abilities. Or at least that’s what he told himself. It was much more embarrassing to admit that he was utterly whipped for you.
“Don’t be a stranger, come on in Ardeth!” Rick said happily, a light in his eyes that you hadn’t seen before Evy came along. You parted from Ardeth with a blush and stepped to the side, grabbing his luggage out of his hand so that Rick could pull him into a welcoming hug. Evy arrived with Alex on her hip and kissed the man on the cheek as he ruffled the baby’s hair. Alex squealed and giggled, bouncing in his mom’s grip.
“Glad to have you, Y/N can help you find your room,” She said pointedly and you nodded, embarrassed that your feelings had always been so clear to you.
You led Ardeth up the winding stairs silently, every step echoing the heavy beat of your heart. It only got worse when you realized that Evy had not so sneakily set up mistletoe just outside of his door. “Here you are,”
Ardeth nodded, he seemed far away. You set his luggage down and went to leave, patting his arm as you made for the stairs. You found yourself halted by his hand on your arm, pulling you back against him. He wrapped his arms around you and you did the same, burrowing against the warmth of his chest.
“I’ve missed you,”
“I dont want to just see you once a year,”
You spoke at the same time and your shoulders raised in embarrassment. “Sorry, you first,”
Ardeth dragged a hand steadily up and down your back as if he could get you even closer. There was barely a space between you two yet you appreciated the effort. “I said I don’t want to just see you once a year, Y/N. As much as I love the holiday visits, I’d much rather see you as often as possible,”
You breath hitched softly and you looked up at him. His expression was clear, warm, and honest. “I like seeing you too...” You said, unsure of how to respond. His words had the subtle hint of a confession but you’d fooled yourself so many times into thinking there could be more between you two that you were afraid to hope.
“W-would you like to see me more?” He said suddenly worried. Your hands found their way to his cheeks as you stroked the tanned skin with your thumbs. You nodded, eyes flickering to his lips that he had nervously tugged between his teeth. He saw your gaze and he seemed to relax a little. His eyes followed the same path on your face, stopping at your plump lips, chapped from the cold.
Ardeth was leaning down and you were meeting him halfway when you heard Jonathon clearly exclaim, “Dinner is ready my friends!” from downstairs. You jumped and the spell was broken. His hands were still steady on your hips however and he leaned down to brush a kiss against your cheek that left your legs weak.
“We shall finish this after, yes?”
You nodded dumbly and he smirked, being the first to head downstairs for the meal that had been prepared by everyone’s joined efforts.
There was a hope in your heart that you hadn’t felt since last winter, the last time you’d seen the man you wanted to be more than friends with. And now you felt you had a pretty good chance.
“Everything good?” Rick asked as you arrived last, sitting next down with a hurry next to the man you’d nearly just kissed.
“Couldn’t be better, You grinned, hang tangling with Ardeth’s underneath the table.

You are Impossible- Ardeth Bay x Reader
11; "Dear diary, . . ." 84; "Show me what's behind your back." 89; "You're not interested, are you?" 78; "Don't argue. Just do it." 66; "How could I ever forget about you?"
Thank you @ratty-mcfatty for the request! <3
“Dear diary...” you breathed out, taking pen to paper as you sat in your tent, a blanket over your lap. The fire outside made patterns dance across the fabric walls around you, dissolving into air as quickly as they appeared. You could hear everyone laughing and Jonathon hooting rather obnoxiously, which most likely meant he was intoxicated.
You scribbled with purpose, trying to soothe your mind by working through the confusing situation as you put it into words. It helped untangle all that went up in that silly brain of yours. And silly you were. How could you say something so idiotic? You wondered if you were even human, if you were simply a robot with a short circuit you could maybe explain why you’d said something so asinine but you had no excuse at the moment besides pure shock spurring the words out before you could even think.
Ardeth had asked you to dine with him that evening, just you and him, and because you must have a screw loose you hadn’t said yes or no, only let out a pathetic and probably rude,  " Why? You're not interested in me, are you?"
Your sulking was interrupted by the man, the myth, the legend, and the cause of your great, unending self hatred.
“Why have you not joined us, Y/N? Are you feeling unwell?” Ardeth asked, his voice honey over gravel. His eyes were sharp but kind, searching your face and then dropping to the open book in your hands. You gasped and tossed it behind you but keeping it within reach.
You should’ve just closed it calmly but no, you had to act like a psychopath in front of this cool and collected man. The great reaction was sure to catch his attention and his perfect eyebrow arched up in questioning.
"Show me what's behind your back." He stated, worry creating lines in his forehead. What could he possibly have to worry about? It was a diary for crying out loud.
“Um, I’m fine, and that’s just my silly old day planner,” You hoped he dropped it but of course he didn’t.
"Don't argue. Just do it." He egged on and you were nearly surprised. He was never so adamant about things, Ardeth wasn’t a nosy man, he typically accepted when someone didn’t want to share something. You turned and grabbed the diary, slamming it shut but pulling it in front of you.
“I’m going to argue, this is a personal item and you have no business looking at it,” You sounded more harsh than you’d hoped and his expression fell a bit.
“You are right... apologies Y/N, it seems I lost myself for a moment. But I would like to know the reason you are avoiding sitting with me- well with all of us,” You hated the kicked puppy expression. It wasn’t fair the amount of power it held, especially when you knew he was genuinely feeling poorly about demanding to view your diary.
“I just wasn’t feeling up to it tonight that’s all...” You supplied lamely.
He took a step closer and you stood, just to take on back. “Might it have been something I said earlier?”
“No! No, of course not...” He’d simply asked you to dinner and you’d been snappy. All because this trip was coming to an end and what if dinner turned into more dinners and that turned into flirting and kissing and then before anything concrete happened you’d be on a plane to London and he would be here, and he would forget all about you while your heart would be stuck on him until the sun died.
You knew yourself well and you would give your heart to anyone who wanted to hold it, even if they were bound to drop it and shatter it. And Ardeth was the current holder of your battered heart. But he was a careful man and well, to be honest he couldn’t break something he didn’t even know he had. Your overthinking was dooming everything however.
Dinner to anyone else and especially Ardeth, was just casual. You just had gripped the idea that hed been interested so suddenly and then the next idea in your mind was that it wouldn’t be worth it and he would simply forget about you seconds after you left.
You had gone quiet and the poor man didn’t seem to know what to do. His eyes bounced around the tent and then to his hands and then to the floor and back to your face only to peak at the crumpled blankets on the floor and then to the spot just past your shoulder. He rocked back on  his heels, like he was unsure if he should just go away or not.
When he took a decisive step backward, you took one forward, grabbing his wrist. “Ardeth, I wanted to apologize. I have been avoiding you because of how I replied to your invitation to dinner earlier today. I don’t know what overcame me-”
“O-oh,” He seemed surprised, “There is no need to apologize Y/N, I understand now that I had been too forward, I am the one who owes an apology,”
“Wait let me finish, please, I wanted to say yes Ardeth, the words came before I even thought. I- I well... I am going to sound like a fool asking this, but what were your intentions when asking me to dine with you?”
You looked down in barely masked shame. You had turned him down for a hypothetical situation out of anxiety but you’d only made things worse. Curse your overactive mind. He was a sweet man, an attractive man, he was as close to perfect as you’d ever met.
Pink tinged his beautiful cheeks and he shrugged, it was uncharacteristic of him but the action was still somehow graceful. “You are an attractive woman Y/N, that is not to say I am only interested in your body... There is a lot I find appealing in you. I wished to have dinner with you, know you differently than I know the others,”
“I would love that Ardeth, my own mind got in the way, I am sorry for that. I feared that if we got closer that would somehow increase the chance of you forgetting me once I got on the plane back to London... Your life is here and mine is back there even if I do truly love this,”
"How could I ever forget about you?" He challenged, his hand coming up to caress your cheek. “I understand your reservations, it is true we do not cross paths often but I wish for that to change, I am drawn to you Y/N. Every time you’ve left before you have been in my mind and in my heart and I longed for your return. Would it hurt to try?”
You leaned into his warm palm and held it to your cheek with your own hand. It was lovely to feel him so close. He was so honest it made your heart ache. He was a beautiful soul and you were nothing close to it but he made you feel light and loved and warm, like you were beautiful in your own way and all he had to do was smile at you.
“It might hurt... What if we try this and it messes up our friendship, we don’t see each other near often enough, you don’t really have a phone so we can’t call one another, and I suppose letters will suffice but what if that stops being enough and you wish to be with a woman you can hold at night and I am not there?”
Ardeth sighed and loosely wrapped his arms around you, his warmth and scent enveloping you. “I am still willing to try. The same could happen to you when you want a man’s company and I am too far away but we have a bond and therefore we have trust in one another. I see you and I believe that you could be the sweetest thing to ever happen to me in all my years. I am willing to push any worry aside to see if I have found the happiness I believe you could bring me,”
You sniffled at his words. “Jesus you’re a sap...” He chuckled and it reverberated against your own chest. Looking up, you pressed a kiss to his jaw. “But yes, I want to see where this goes,” you admitted.
He cracked a smile and brought his lips to yours and you could nearly feel your souls clicking together in their rightful place, a breathy sigh left you and you melted. He tasted like the sun.  “I suppose this conversation has transcended dinner?”
“Possibly so, but that is a good starting point, don’t you think?”
The smile he gave you took your breath away.

Ardeth x Reader (Pt. 1/?)
•Reader and Ardeth have a history. Due to Brother!Rick they dont get the future they want but then Alex gets taken and Ardeth and Reader are reunited•
Tumblr media
"Good morning my love."
A sweet whisper of a memory shattered your rest almost as efficiently as the too bright ray of sun streaming through your parted curtains. Your bottom lip sticks out in a pout as you squeeze your eyes shut once again. Maybe you could return to the ghostly touches and soft whispers that invaded your mind.
It seemed like comfort and a sense of belonging was always just out of reach. Maybe it felt even further away because you had once had it. Hell, you’d had everything. It wasn’t that you were miserable. You had a lot that made you happy but that hole in your chest could only be filled by one thing and you hadn't seen him in nearly a decade.
Ardeth Bay. The reason for your beating heart and unending discontentment. Perhaps he wasn’t the only reason or even the main reason. He couldn’t have controlled the situation any better than you had and even then he wouldn't leave his home for much. Why would he ever come with you to London?
He’d had duties. But your heart ached all the same because you knew you would have stayed with him had he asked. You missed the way he’d wake up slowly with gentle groans and a grumble of your name to see if you too were awake. Some times you would be and some times you wouldn't be.
It’d be a good day if you could sneak some kisses from Ardeth before he left to patrol and ride with his fellow Medjai. While your brother had been busy getting hanged you had been staying out of trouble, traveling around. Ardeth had teased from the beginning that he was trouble but he was no more troublesome than a needy puppy.
Swinging your legs out from under the covers you nearly hissed at the feeling of the cool hardwood beneath your feet. You slipped a hand through your hair and snarled when it caught a mass of tangles in the back. Groaning in frustration, your mind when to Ardeth as it usually did in the mornings and late at night when you didn't mind who saw your contemplative silence.
You could imagine him running his long fingers gently through the knotted hair, miraculously fixing it better than you ever could. He had a way with his hands you supposed.
Sighing, you decided to get dressed even if you really just wanted to stay in bed and dream of your beloved. When you’d come back to London without him you’d been inconsolable. You hadn’t made a big show of tears, nor had you thrown yourself into your room crying his name. You’d simply walked in silence to your bedroom, feeling the chill seep into your bones. Without Ardeth, your sun was gone. Everything was a bit colder.
You hadn’t been able to focus, you had laid in bed and wasted away because what was life without him? He was thousands of miles away and some bitter part of you thought maybe he was doing just fine and didn’t care that you were no longer around. Eventually you’d learnt to deal with the heartache and it had just become a part of you. You had reasons to smile but they got dimmer every year.
Rick had Evy and Alex now for god’s sake. You had left the only man you wanted to be with in Egypt and you were heartbroken. Your life was fine but it wasn’t complete. You supposed he would be over you now. It had been so many years but part of you hoped that he too stayed up all night longing for you like you did him. It was selfish but couldn’t you have a selfish dream of your own?
Every night the same scenario played in your head. You returned to Egypt and went straight to Ardeth’s place. He was waiting their for you, shocked but pleased. He’d pick you up and press feather light kisses all over your face that would make you laugh and he’d tell you how he’d never given up hope on seeing you again.
You thought about how you only had to ask your family and youd be on the fast track to Ardeth but part of you held you back. You wanted this misery because maybe just maybe he had lost hope and found someone else. Maybe he wouldn’t be as excited to see you and he had been glad to have been rid of you before.
“Nothing I can do now,” you told yourself as you fumbled through your closet to find something suitable to wear for the day of moping around the house and maybe just maybe you’d make dinner for Evy, Rick and Alex once they got home from their latest excursion.
It was all you could tell yourself because if you didn’t have doubt then the hope would swallow you whole and you would make a complete idiot of yourself going to a man who had probably forgotten you by now.

Ready or Not (Part 2/2) Ardeth Bay x Reader
You set up a little camp for yourself and you stared at the stars above, fire crackling nearby and blankets around you. You rested your hand on your stomach. “This is a beautiful place, one day we’ll visit and I just know you’ll love it. You’ll be like your mama and papa... I hope you get to know Ardeth...” You sniffled. What if he didn’t want to know his child? What if the little guy never got to know his father? Your heart clenched at the thought.
Could you call him a little guy? It was really just a hunch but yeah, your little boy, that felt right. You sometimes felt so strongly for this living being you’d never even met. Just the thought of your child could bring a smile to your face but it always ended up with tears. You were scared and hormonal and you needed Ardeth and hated Ardeth and wanted to be closer to him.
Jesus this man was going to drive you insane. You huffed angrily. Why did you have to be put in this position? But you also wouldn’t have changed it if you could go back. This was going to be your child, with a man at your side or not. The support would be nice however and maybe you and Ardeth could even try and work things out between you two, maybe feel more than just friendship towards each other.
You’d always had a bit of a crush but you had never met a man who seemed more unreachable. He was strong and lovely and duty bound and had a strong sense of justice and was nothing short of honorable. Could you think of any fault the man had?
You snorted. Maybe not having a strong enough pull out game. Had you two used a condom? God you couldn’t even remember that. You had stolen some alcohol that Jonathon had stolen and snuck off, Ardeth had inevitably followed, maybe thinking something was wrong. The two of you had sat in your tent and sipped at the full bottle talking and sharing like it was no big deal. And then the bottle was empty and you two were much closer than you had been before.
Hed kissed you and youd kissed back. Then your memories get heady and warm, fuzzy and burned at the edges but you could nearly feel his fingertips tracing your sides after he’d gotten you undressed if you thought hard enough. Sighing you wiggled around a bit, trying to get more comfortable or maybe just move out of the position you’d been in before in hopes of changing your train of thought, maybe even derailing it completely.
A blank mind would help you sleep and then you could wake up and get this overdue show on the road.
Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out.
You had that mantra running on repeat as to block out everything else that could possibly be going on up there. You soon became hyper aware of your leg bouncing and your heart beating. Your ears tuned out everything else and focused on the blood pumping in your veins. You felt warm and solid and your eyelids got heaving. You took one last peak at the sky. The stars winked and you felt as if that was their goodnight to you.
When morning came it was not soon enough and you were disappointed to find that no one was surrounding you, hell there wasn’t even anyone around.
“God damn it! How am I going to find that bastard if he doesn’t have phone! I can’t go all around the damn desert searching for him!” You shouted to the sky as you grumpily munched on the dry cereal and water you had. It seemed to help with the morning sickness and you were already in a bad mood, it didn’t need to be made worse.
Your anger bit at your tear ducts and you scoffed rubbing at them, hoping your eyelashes somehow absorbed the tears trying to break free. You would not cry over this, it really wasn’t that important for god’s sake. You would find Ardeth or he would find you there was no reason you needed to get upset. But still, you were anxious to let the man know you were carrying his child.
You still didn’t know what you expected from him once he did get the news but you just felt that he had to know.
“Miss? Are you alright?” You heard someone call out from a distance. You turned around and narrowed your eyes. At first you felt foolish, they must have seen your pathetic display but then your eyes narrowed in on them. The tattoos. The clothes. The horse. And more importantly, the voice. It couldn’t be could it?
“Y/N? What are you doing here?” That idiotic and wonderful voice asked. He slid from his horse and walked forward. Your feet begged you to move as well. The  yards between you were crossed and Ardeth was in front of you, his hands on your cheeks and his eyebrows drawn to the center in concern. Your hands rested on his forearms and you sighed happily.
“We need to talk, I came to talk to you,” You explained and he only looked more concerned. Was that a good sign?
Ardeth nodded and took a step back. “Might I ask what the nature of the conversation will be? I was just heading to the market, do we need privacy?” You looked at the vast desert around you.
“I think this is the perfect spot to talk. Um, well you see Ardeth, the thing is.... I um.... well that is to say that.... Um...”
Oh god you should’ve written this down or something. Your brain had gone on vacation, nothing but empty space and tumbleweeds between your ears now. “When I was here last-” At that his eyebrows shot up high. At least you knew he was listening to your lame attempt at a conversation.
“For god’s sake this shouldn’t be so hard!” you breathed and Ardeth thought he knew the intention behind your conversation. Which he did not. On the right track, yes. But he had not anticipated the bomb you were about to drop on him.
“Please, Y/N, do not worry about that, it is gone from my mind completely, we were both under the influence-”
Your heart dropped and you couldn’t hear any more of what he had to say about what he thought you were there for. “Ardeth! For christ’s sake I am pregnant with your child! “
He blinked dumbly. His eyes were wide and his limbs were frozen. “You are what?” You knew he’d heard you, he just needed time to process it. But you really hated the silence. You really, really hated it.
“On the bright side, the ladies love guys who are good with kids,” You offered with a smile because you werent sure what else to do.
“You mean to say,” he finally started up again, “that we had sex once, nearly two months ago, and you are pregnant? I-I... Y/N I hardly remember that night, it was good but I mean-”
Your lip began to quiver at his words. You knew this had been stupid. “D-don’t worry I’m not here to tie you down... Just thought you should know. H-he’s yours but you get to decide if you want to be in his life or not.” You had to look away. This felt like a huge rejection, not just for you but for your baby too.
Ardeth took a heavy breath and his hand landed on your shoulder, he tugged you around and then into his chest. “I’m saying the wrong things.” He stated. A watery chuckle escaped your lips. “Yes, but I don’t know what the right things are either, I was just as surprised as you,”
“Thank you for me,” You nodded and finally wrapped your arms around his sturdy middle. “You’re his father, Ardeth, why wouldn’t I tell you?” This caused a reaction in him. You could feel it, his body didn’t move but it was something in the way his breath caught.
“Maybe..maybe you could stay here for a bit, we can talk more about t-this.” He tried. “This is not something that will be resolved in one conversation.” You took a step out of his arms and you met his gaze.
“You’re right. We have a lot more we need to talk about, I’m not really packed to stay... Is there any way you would consider coming to London? It’s not just my lack of clothing, I want to be home during this pregnancy... I understand if you can’t,” Were you making things difficult? What if Ardeth thought you were being too high maintenance?
You looked to the ground and kicked your shoe into the sand. A moment later there was an arm around your shoulder and a pair of familiar lips at your temple.
“I admit that London is out of my comfort zone, but I think that we are both in a very foreign situation and since you are the one carrying o-our child, we will do things your way,”
You looked up at him with doe eyes and a smile broke out onto your face that wasn’t forced. He’d always thought your smile was pleasant, hopefully the baby in your belly would have the same one.
The thought caused his own smile to spread on his face. You two had never felt more like strangers yet the thought of the two of you sharing a child was not completely unpleasant. You were kind and resilient and beautiful and respectable and he enjoyed your friendship.
There was much to talk about, but he was positive that there would be a good outcome.
