so the new jnj short revealed that numbers can add together to create their sum. it also confirmed that higher numbers have a higher social status in algebralian society. ten and fifteen are revered by the lower numbers like you would older siblings, though all the numbers below ten, and x, treat each other the same no matter their value. two is an outlier, but they’ve got their own thing going on.
the reason i say that the new short 100% confirmed this is because with ten you could make the argument that they are looked up to because they are just a really good person. they save cats (and seven) from trees, they hang out with eight, and stood in the subcount without complaint. fifteen is a lot different. she’s rude, violent, and reserved. she’s been withdrawn from algebralian society for an undisclosed amount of time. they have no reason to like her, yet when six and nine masquerade as her they are met with a very warm welcome. this pretty much proves that higher numbers are looked up to by lower ones. i also theorized that lower numbers are looked down upon by higher ones as a reason for why two is estranged from the other algebralians, but as of now there isn’t any evidence for this.
this new short also revealed that algebralians can add together with the presence of a plus sign. this was shown in xfohv, and also in bfb when they multiplied four and donut (zero), but what made this different is that the sum of their numbers not only combined their physical appearances but also put both of their consciouses into the same body. very similar to yin-yang in ii, nine and six each had control over half of fifteen. honestly, it reminded me a lot of how fusion in steven universe works, the biggest difference being that it’s two people in one body as opposed to one, independent being. like steven universe, however, six and nine split apart when they begin to fight and disagree, showing that algebralian addition is not permanent, fortunately.
i am concerned with the future of the number playground chronicles since they seemingly won’t be making any more “thanks for” shorts. i would be surprised if they didn’t continue them since they’re so popular, but i guess we’ll see what happens from here.
