I mean. Tbh I watched a couple of them out of morbid curiosity and like. The thing is, the guy is like a genuinely good VA?? And like- most of the content is just regular comic dubs that are done well and credited?? Hell, the one I watched outright had him making a joke about the thumbnails being super sus and the content just being normal stuff/wholesome? Like- at most it was really only the occasional suggestive joke/comic where the comic was just flat out popular anyways + the point was the ship itself more than “oh that’s Pr0n” (certainly better than Nux “saw Cyn and immediately made a reference to that kind of anime that gets REALLY WEIRD about little sister type characters”/ THOSE kinds of content farms, at least 🙄-)

Like, genuinely IDK what to make of it? Tbh, if he didn’t do that I’d probably actually watch his stuff from time to time, but like also I’m still not a fan personally even if The Thumbnails are a joke just because it really does kinda set a bad precedent for the fandom?

Hi! Well, I felt really down when i joined the university and left most social media platforms, but now i finished and a lot happened haha. Well, not a lot, it just feels like a lot. Everything is so much brighter. Also, DA4 came out so i felt nostalgic and went on tumblr to check on DA artists I follow. Then decided to try posting again, so just dumped all the art i made and liked in the last 2 years lol thank you for your interest!

my twitter tl, who used to be so full of palestine related tweets it was practically unusable, has completely wiped itself clean overnight. everything is back to how my tl looked before october, with only a few go fund me links sprinkled here and there.

i feel like i'm going insane, the change feels so drastic and unnatural that i'm uncomfortable using the app now. it feels like everyone i follow got brainwashed during the night, and i managed to avoid it because i was sleeping.

the people i follow wouldn't just stop talking about palestine and sudan and tigray and congo just like that, i refuse to believe it. this is blatant algorithmn manipulation and censorship. it's terrifying to see, really.

This week has been hectic for me, so I apologize for this post coming a bit later in the evening this time.

I have questions about the data driven web writing this week as I observe data and collect it for the project. On social media, having likes, comments, and reposts help show how much engagement your writing is receiving, and if the expected audience is reading the writing. I was wondering how algorithms can effect that data specifically. Youtube and Twitter/X rely heavily on algorithms to show the user what the website thinks they want, while websites such as Tumblr do not rely on that as heavily. I was wondering if these algorithmns can sway the data if you were to compare a similiar post say on Twitter and Tumblr. @npfannen The gif is how I feel after this week

Don't listen to art youtubers in general, the vast majority of them are more concerned with pleasing the algorithmn rather than making good videos. Especially any of those channels that are like "top 10 art tips for beginners!" They are the modern equivalent of those "how to draw manga" books from twenty years ago.

I am like the anime smartass compared to reddittors, and I say this about reddittors not the world.

It's just something I'll never understand how it can be so stupid. Do I feel upset? depressed? laugh? tired and bothered 😑? It depends, could be all of them sometimes. I feel like getting upset over it is kind of childish.

This is not every single one but it's a lot of them that are found pretty easily.

The same people are present outside of Reddit but then I would have to be more specific because it's only on some parts of other websites.

I think in X/Twitter, people are also extremely dumb, but that is because the algorithmn forces people come to you from a place of bad faith by placing both you and the other person in the position where they are impaired from having a productive conversation. This is, the way you find the tweet/post/reply, what it wants to show you (shows you someone else's reply instead of a follow up from the person who it was replied to), promoting negativity because that is more discussion and activity rather than interests, and removing context. I don't remember clearly, but there are a lot of ways they do this. Reddit has it's own share of bad practices which mainly involve karma/vote manipulation.... well, that is the only one I remember. Even without it being manipulated, I think the system is terrible but I know it was also made with the best of intentions.
