“I don't know how to love my friends in a way friend loves a friend; I only love them like they're part of me, like a parent loves their child;
with a fear they'll fell off a bike, with a fear they'll cut themselves out as they grow apart
and if they throw rocks at you, you'll still be a mother, you'll still lick their wounds, and you'll still cry alone behind closed doors
maybe that's a definition of a bad parent, but all I know is that I've been a parent my whole life; and I wish you had a better friend.
and I wish you had a better mother.”

Good Reads
Last Saturday, I spent over two hours in Barnes & Noble until it was past 10 p.m. Who knew they would even be open that late?
Anyways, this year I am a Resident Assistant in the Freshman girl’s dorm at Xavier and also the head of the book club. I thought it was interesting that my advisor chose me as the head of the book club but I took on the task with great ambition for the group.
While I spent those lovely two and a half hours in Barnes & Noble, I went through 5 fiction, 7 non-fiction and just about the rest of the store besides the children’s section trying to find something. I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to have the club read, so I chose three different books for them to choose from.
One book I came across was Alida Nugent’s, You Don’t Have to Like Me.

I was attracted by this book because of its cover (which I know is cliché), but also because of what it talks about. Feminism is a hot topic in this book along with added humor from the writer.
I can't wait to actually read the book and see how Nugent speaks about being a feminist. I think many people don't think they’re feminists because they’re unsure of what the term means. Hopefully, my choosing of this book will help them decide.
Here is a link to more information about the author and her work: http://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/316997/you-dont-have-to-like-me-by-alida-nugent/

I'm so tired of everybody talking about how enthusiasm is stupid, as if wearing leather jackets and using the phrase "I hate people" is something that makes you interesting.
