Just a little rant about HOW MUCH I FUCKING HATE NARUTO FANBOYS OH MY GAAWWWDDDD besides the obvious reasons (homophobia, misogyny, incels) they worship the shit outta the worse characters ever like Shikamaru and Itachi and Hinata. Like I just saw on the Naruto Reddit (my fault, I know, but I searched something up about Naruto and the first link discussing that was Reddit) and they all used that stupid dumbass filler where Shikamaru was asking his dad about Naruto and why everyone hates him and how he doesn't hate him (even tho in CANON he did 😤) and they all said not only is he a better friend to Naruto than Sasuke ever was but (here we go again) Sasuke's more of a brother 🙄 and they also said Sasuke treated Naruto like trash and was the worst friend 🤦🏻‍♀️ like it's so insane to me the dudebros lack of brain and reading comprehension. Like how do you as a grown ass man not know the difference between what's actually real and what's not about what you're watching? Or maybe it's that they just hate Sasuke so much and how much Naruto loves him and keeps talking about him and how he's his best friend in canon (he said it way too much for me to believe that even these ugly incels couldn't understand) that they'd rather give the credit to someone else that isn't a threat and doesn't make Naruto act borderline homosexual. Oh and they obviously ignore Shikamaru's blatant misogyny and still consider him the best thing ever because why would they care 🙄 anyway end rant, sorry. I just hate this fandom 😭 I stay on my side of things mostly (well, other than this one time. But when I do I just rant about it to someone and move on)

I think it’s obvious if you’ve read the Manga. I wonder if they’ve only seen the Anime and just don’t bother checking what is canon first. So much is changed from Kishimoto’s original. (Has anyone seen that twt discussion on filler? I’d love to read your opinions on it.) 

I mean, Hinata’s supposed backstory with Naruto is just ridiculous, but I don’t understand why people think Naruto was friends with any of them? Even if it’s shown in filler that Naruto was around them or they asked their parents about Naruto... what makes fans say they were friends? 

Sasuke was the only one who acknowledged Naruto with a smile and they weren't even friends until much later.

Right before the exams, Shikamaru tells team 7 not to die. Not because he’s worried for them, but because he believes they’re not capable, largely because of his lack of faith in Naruto. While Naruto calls them idiots and insults both Shikamaru and Hinata as he introduces them to the reader. 

'A big mouth idiot' and a 'weirdo' (I believe he actually also called her creepy but I can't find the translation, but remember when Kushina told Naruto not to go for a weird girl? She used the same words xD) And then Shikamaru immediately wanted to target Naruto in the forest of death.

Had either of them at any point been friendly to Naruto or whatever, then we would’ve known here and Naruto wouldn’t have insulted them like he did (as is his right) because he craved a connection more than anything. It’s ridiculous how the Anime at times just blatantly ignores the lonely misery Naruto had to grow up in (ALONE) in favor of these other characters. As if sugarcoating that would make any of them look less bad. And don't get me started on Hinata during that written test because it's no wonder Naruto got so confused and didn't trust her "kindness".

Regardless, I think a lot of Naruto-fans who tend to glorify any of these friendships and extending it for what it is largely do so because they side with a narrative regarding the system and don't get why Sasuke (and others) challenged it in the first place. Brushing it off like it was some evil, selfish thing. I personally like Shikamaru's development and who he is as a character in the end because him showing change might've been very helpful in actually changing the system had they worked towards that. But you know... we'll never know.

gonna be a 100% honest, only levi stans care abt how popular he is 😭 like he's my fav too but I cannot stand any levi community w minors especially on twitter bc they make him the poor guy when he's literally the gojo of aot...... I love him bc he's badass obv and is well written w a tragic past but so does literally eren??? did we not watch the same show??? I think the key points that you’re missing in all of that is ‘Twitter’ and ‘minors’ tbh

Twitter is a cesspool where it feels like people join in on pointless debates and arguments for no reason. I’m not trying to invalidate what you’ve experienced but I would caution you not to lump every single Levi fan (or Eren fan or whoever else for that matter) in as one entity that all shares the same opinion. Like anything else, the loudest people are the ones who get heard and I have never in my four or five years of participating in this fandom run across a Levi fan who has cared about his popularity. Just like I have never met an Eren fan (apart from the anon who’s been harassing Levi writers for weeks) or an Erwin fan or a mikasa fan etc who cares about their favorite character’s popularity.

It’s children. Because when you’re a child, you care about being popular and you care about the popularity of others. And that’s not saying that they’re stupid or silly or whatever, because that’s just how kids are. I cared about that kind of shit when I was a kid too.

And of course they’re all complex characters. They’re all tragic too in their own unique ways. But someone focusing on their special character that they particularly like above the rest doesn’t mean that they think the other characters aren’t also complex and unworthy of attention. It’s just that they like that one dude and want to spend their time focusing on him.

Tl:dr: y’all just gotta live and let live. If someone’s doing something that you don’t like or agree with that they enjoy and it isn’t harming anyone, move on. Pretty basic shit.

Picnic Confessions

Keigo Takami didn’t seem like it, but he was always on alert. His laid-back and often carefree attitude made him seem rather careless. He could notice any little change in someone whether it be in their words or body language. People didn’t often understand or know that, which he fully used to his advantage.

(f/n) was one of them, unfortunately. She thought she was being discreet with her crush on Hawks, she thought she hid it well. She always tried to keep her distance, she tried to keep her embarrassment to a low, and she tried really hard not to fall for him. But it was hard and in the end, he picked up on it anyway.

Aside from being ridiculously attractive and flirty, he was pretty sweet. There were many moments where the two just had heartfelt conversations. They would sit on the roof and watch the stars in the sky while talking about their problems in the world.

That was something both of them cherished dearly. They would often tell each other their problems and would never talk about them again. Almost like a vent session. At first, it was mostly all on (f/n)’s end but as the two got acquainted, he found himself opening up as well. It started out with little issues like a civilian who wouldn’t listen to him during a villain attack to bigger things like his trust issues and lack of emotional support in his life.

(f/n) was always there to listen to him vent, even if he was repeating himself. She didn’t care, she always listened to every single word. After all of that, it was inevitable that the two would fall for each other. 

Keigo was able to pick up on it pretty quickly, he was a trained hero after all. He was able to see the blush, he was able to see her defensive postures when he would come around, he would see her fists curl if he was too close, he picked up on every single little detail.

He also realized just how much he liked her too. He hated it when others harassed her, he hated it when she seemed to flirt with other men, and he hated it when she was watching him. He often found himself trying to impress her whether it be with little or bigger things. He found himself trying to do things that made her laugh or giggle or would make her smile in general. Did she forget to eat? He’s already getting her lunch, she needs a little coffee? He’s on it. She’s feeling a bit down? He’s got his dumb jokes and stupid puns ready.

Keigo knew he was in trouble. With his field of work, it was just too dangerous. (f/n) wasn’t a hero, she was actually a civilian he’d ended up getting trapped with.

A couple of years back, he was called in for a villain attack. During the attack, the villain had toppled a few buildings over in an attempt to kill Keigo. It was almost successful. Keigo managed to get trapped in between two buildings with no way out.

That’s when he found (f/n). She was even luckier than him. She had been trapped in the initial attack and had fallen with the buildings. Miraculously, she only had a few injuries. She had a broken pelvis and a gash in her side, none were fatal. Keigo had obviously prioritized her safety over his own and the defeat of the villain. He quickly took her to safety, trying not to hurt her pelvis any more than it already was.

After that, he’d visited her often at the hospital to see how she was doing. They formed a rather quick bond and he found himself coming back once again. He just couldn’t help it, so after that, the two had established a friendship. However, Keigo was looking to change that today.

“Hey, cutie! Come here often?” (f/n) rolled her eyes as the blush spread across her cheeks. She looked towards her window where Keigo floated and smiled at him regardless. He wasn’t wearing his hero suit so it was just a friendly visit.

“I don’t know, I think I do. It is my house after all.” She moved closer, leaning against the window sill as he gave her a cheeky smile. “How are you today, Hawks?” Even after two years of being friends, even after he’d trusted her with his name, she still preferred to call him Hawks. 

“I’m good, I’m good! Say! Wanna go out today?”

“G-go out? Where?” There was that adorable stutter he loved so much. It was her telltale sign.

“Out! Come on!” He held his arms out, a way to tell her to jump into them. She looked at him curiously before she nodded. Grabbing essentials like her purse and phone, she walked back to the window and carefully stepped out, using Keigo to steady herself before he picked her up.

 She wrapped her arms around him as he flew her to their destination. It was a rather quiet flight, which wasn’t normal for Keigo. When they arrived, (f/n) was surprised to see what he had prepared.

On a hilltop, he’d prepared a little picnic. A blanket, paired up with a cute little basket with a small vase that had one lone rose in it. He gently placed her down and she walked towards it, giggling to herself.

“You kidnap me only to bring me to a picnic?” She teased, making him scoff.

“It’s not kidnapping if you willingly walked into my arms.” He retorted as the two got comfortable. They were able to watch the sunset as they happily munched on the sandwiches Keigo had made, which were actually quite delicious.

After that, they did what they normally would. They laid down on the blanket and watched the stars. (f/n) assumed this was another night Keigo needed to vent, they had started doing something similar to this. The first time, (f/n) had brought Keigo cookies, as an apology for ranting his ears off. He loved it regardless. Ever since the two would always do something nice for each other before or after their rant sessions. (f/n) thought this was no different.

“So?” She asked, looking at him. He turned his head, meeting her eyes. They were so beautiful and even now, in the dark, the (e/c) seemed to sparkle.

“So, what?” He inquired, making her chuckle and look back up at the stars.

“What’s wrong? It’s the usual setting.” He nodded, turning to look at the stars as well.

“I think I like this girl.” Almost immediately, the happy mood in (f/n) faded and disappeared extremely quickly. She did her best to keep it at a low, but Keigo immediately picked up on it.

“Oh? Well then, tell her?”

“It’s not that easy. We… don’t see each other that often.” That was a lie, Keigo just didn’t want to reveal it yet.

“Well, then you might not be a good fit. You’d have to see her more often right? Maybe hang out around her more? Might not be a good fit in my opinion.” She answered, truthfully. Both of them knew she was just being honest and speaking her mind… but Keigo had other ideas. He turned to her again, a teasing smile on his face.

“Jealous?” Her character broke immediately and her face flushed a deep red.

“Wh-what?! No way!” She answered, looking away with a huff. His laughter filled the atmosphere as she desperately tried to defend herself.

“You seem pretty jealous!”

“Why would I be jealous?”

“Maybe because you like me!”

“I do not!” She defended, crossing her arms and looking away. Keigo sat up, looking down at her. The blush on her cheeks, the little pout on her lips, the frustration in her eyes, he loved it all. She was just so perfect for him.

Without her realizing it, he’d leaned in close. She only figured it out when she felt his warm breath against her neck. Her head snapped towards him, her (e/c) eyes widening at the close proximity.

“Wh-what-”

“Are you jealous, (f/n)?” She wasn’t able to speak, so instead, she swallowed and shook her head. “Are you lying?” (f/n) shut her eyes tightly and rolled away from him, moving off the blanket and sitting up. He laughed again, leaning back and watching her glare at him.

“Stop messing with me, Hawks!”

“I’m not!” He defended, making her scoff.

“Yes, you are! Y-you’re teasing me!”

“Why? Is it working?”

“Yea-” She immediately quieted down as her blush darkened. “No! It’s not!”

“Then why are you so far away from me?” She looked away, too flustered to even look at him. (f/n) shut her eyes, trying to take deep breaths and when she opened them again, he was inches away from her. He was on his hands and knees and TOO close.

“Wh-what a-are you d-doing?!” Before she could move away, his large wings encased her body, making her eyes widen. She felt her entire being stiffen when he moved closer. His teasing attitude was gone, now replaced by a serious one. He was a jokester, but he wanted her to understand this without having an inkling of a doubt in her heart.

“You did it,” he whispered, staring into her eyes. “You really stole whatever was left of my heart. Got me right on my knees, too. I can’t help it, (f/n)… not anymore.” With that, he leaned in and pressed his lips right against hers.

It took a moment before (f/n) melted into it, her lips slowly moving with his. Unlike his flirtatious and carefree personality, his kiss was hesitant and shy; the opposite. Her hand gently slid up to his shoulder as he moved closer. Their lips fit so perfectly together and it felt so good like it was always meant to be. Both of them felt the butterflies in their stomach, and they felt the weight of not knowing how the other felt lift off their chests.

The two pulled apart and he sighed in relief. Leaning in, he pressed his lips against her forehead.

“You’re her,” he explained, “you’re the girl I fell for.”

“You… aren’t lying, right?”

“I would never. Be mine?”

“Sure, Keigo.” She giggled, making him lower his head with a little chuckle. When he raised his head to meet her eyes, she almost panicked when she saw his tears pooling in them.

“That’s… the first time you said my name.”

sure anon! i’m gonna put this under a cut bc it ended up being pretty long. but here’s my ramble on that little case study, and the danger of parasocial relationships in general:

so we have benji krol and jorge garay. maybe you know them from being kinda relevant on tiktok like a year and a half ago, maybe you remember the accusations that practically ended both of their careers. i’m exposing myself heavy here, but i used to run a stan acct on twitter for them. i know it’s embarassing! i regret it too! typing their names still kinda makes me sick tbh! but i used to see a lot of myself in them, and the community was fun, and it was nice to see what i thought was a healthy queer relationship. we move on.

benji had a very close relationship with his stans, especially after quarantine started. he had multiple private/secret twitter accounts where he would take a very active role in the fandom. he’d spend so long on those accounts, to the point where there were times where we would tell him not to use them (and that in and of itself is very showing of what our dynamic with him was like). he would reply and talk to a lot of ppl on stan twt, myself included, but there was a small groupchat of about a dozen people that he talked to very regularly. he would tell them things that were meant to be kept secret even from other stans, and in some cases things that we know for certain he didn’t even tell some of his closest friends.

because they were so close with benji, these stans obviously got a lot of clout within the fandom (as they should have too! they were mostly all rly nice, i’m still moots w a few). but what was going essentially unnoticed there was just how much manipulation was occurring. i honestly don’t believe it was even fully intentional on benji’s part. but over the course of more than a year he manipulated them into defending him against almost every negative accusation he faced. these people would have screenshots and receipts from him personally, ready to pull him out of all potential drama or criticism. and he did this by presenting their relationship as a mutual friendship, as if there wasn’t a blatant and vast imbalance of power.

and then one day last august, the allegations came out. jorge, who was 18, was accused of grooming another influencer who was 15 at the time, and benji was accused of enabling and even contributing to the grooming. over the course of the following days and weeks, as it became apparent that these alleged events did actually happen, the fandom was forced to collectively reevaluate the things that had been going on for over a year, and how we had all ended up in a situation where we unknowingly supported those people. since then, various other information has surfaced that implies that benji himself was somewhat unaware of what was happening. you can watch his yt vdeo if you’re interested in hearing his defense, and the reason he’s not canceled off the face of the earth like jorge is. but the degree to which he may or may not be innocent is not really my focus here.

i cannot begin to express the shock of spending so long idolizing someone, genuinely learning a lot about who they are, only to have something so significant and disgusting revealed about them like that. everyone in the fandom kind of compared receipts and took an outside look at what had been happening and realized just how harmful the close relationship with benji had been. to quote one of my rant tweets from august 22nd: “i just feel so stupid because i would always say ‘we shouldn’t act like we really know them’ and. here i am sobbing anyways bc i still put too much trust in these people who are rly just fucking strangers”. and there were several dozens of people that were much closer to him and much more personally affected than me. plus hundreds of others that were involved in the fandom.

and that brings me into my main point here. this is a firsthand account of a very extreme example of manipulation within a parasocial relationship. i think benji did genuinely care about his fans, even if it was in a very self-indulgent and egotistical manner. but caring about your fans does not do anything to negate the harm that is done by manipulating your relationship with them.

it’s not that a fan doesn’t know what a given content creator is really like, because a lot of them do present their honestly selves to a considerable degree. it’s that there is no way to know what things you don’t know about a CC. no way to tell what will surface tomorrow and completely change your entire perception of them. and no way to interact with them on equal grounds. and because of this, i am extremely wary of any CC who presents their relationship with their fans as one of friendship, especially when a large amount of those fans are minors. it’s not inherently wrong persay, but it’s more dangerous than i think a lot of fans or CCs realize.

alright so long danni (ldn i will refer to her) & ee media along w/ tencent and sm made the survival show x-fire... the premise of xfire was that 16 contestants split into two different teams (white and red) and then at the end it would boil down to each team having 4 members and the winning team would debut as a group called xfire...but wait...the group’s name is xnine? so out of red team (peng chuyue, baishu, xiao zhan, xia zhiguang) and white team(wu jiacheng, gu jiacheng, zhao lei, and guo zifan) white team won...and they unofficially debuted as xfire..went abroad to train yadda yadda yadda and then a few months later, TELL ME WHY LONG DANNI DECIDES TO RELEASE POLLS TO LET FANS VOTE IN 5 MEMBERS INTO XFIRE TO CREATE XNINE! ldn PLEASE if u wanted to rig the show you should’ve decided in the beginning what was the point of making the teams and the fans fight against each other...

so yeah xz and crew weren’t actually supposed to debut according to show rules...i mean i’m glad they debuted obviously bc x9 is x9 but ee media and frickin ldn couldve handled this better...like every member except chen molerat is amazing and great but....WHY DIDNT MaNAGEMENT NOT BLATANTLY RIG THEM INTO THE GROUP

BKDK Soulmate Mind Reading Word Count:1322

AU Summary: Everyone has a soulmate, at 16 you gain the ability to hear/read their thoughts, the only way to stop the mind reading for good is to kiss your soulmate (If the pair has previously kissed they have to kiss again after they come of age)

This is a Ficlet/DM fic/ twitter thread thing SO that just means it is not structured the same way as something I would post on AO3. The format is much more loose and is more so me detailing a plot from start to finish rather than an actual fic. I write these in a chat so the spaces are message breaks, after I hit send on a message. I hope you give it a chance! A BIG BIG thanks to @we-stanjirou for encouraging my bkdk rants that eventually become these fics and for getting me to finally post them!

The mind-reading starts at 16 and it happens on your birthday (so there are a couple of months where Bakugou can hear Deku’s thoughts before it’s mutual)

You have to focus on it for it to work, it’s not just someone else in your head all the time (unless you are unfocused and kinda just listening)

They become roommates because they were training in Bakugou’s room and busted up two walls and, instead of giving Bakugou a new room, Aizawa moves them both to an extra room on the fourth floor slightly bigger than the rest of them because they would have to share

They were stressed about it cause they were both crushing hard while also having their soulmates voice in their head

They both tended to try and keep the voice away unless they were alone but now that they were sharing a room it was a bit more difficult, they each caught themselves listening to the voice before bed or in the shower, etc

When Bakugou focused on it a majority of the talking was vaguely about people or it was detailed work

He figured out that his soulmate went to Yueii because they were thinking about principal nezu one day

He really tried hard to not pay any attention to the voice but he couldn’t help wanting to know

Deku on the other hand was really curious about who is soulmate could be but he never got any hints about it, he guessed he was never listening at the right time

When they became roommates they found themselves thinking about their soulmate more and more often, leading to them accidentally reading their souls mates thoughts just because when they began to think a little too much about their roommate they redirect themselves to a more abstract concept

Bakugou heard a curious thought one night ‘I wonder who /he/ thinks about at night.’ before he could even process the question his mind supplied ‘Deku obviously’ and he could only hope his soulmate wasn’t listening to that (sadly he wasn’t)

The next time something big happened it was in class, Aizawa had given them some free time and the class ended up having a big conversation

Bakugou had been commenting vaguely but mostly keeping to himself

Deku had been lost in thought

At one point Bakugou sent a light push at Kirishima for something stupid he said when he heard the voice say

“I wonder if /his/ soulmate is Kirishima”

(they can tell when the voice is about them, special soulmate bond)

His immediate reaction is to scoff and he whispers a quite “tch shitty hair is not my soulmate”

Deku looks over and says “did you say something Kacchan?” and Bakugous focus on his soulmate voice drops

He quickly patches things up saying “tch no I didn’t fucking say anything” although he was a bit unconvincing

Deku let it go and Bakugou let out a breath hoping no one else caught his response

The implications of his soulmate 1-knowing who Kirishima is and 2-wondering about their ‘relationship’ right after they interacted didn’t hit him until a few minutes later

His eyes widened and he looked around him knowing that one of these shit heads had to be his soulmate and he, unusually, had a preference

He glanced at Deku and wondered if he was reading his thoughts

He decided to try something, he wanted to try and push his way into his soulmates head, whoever reacted would be his soulmate, it was better than not knowing

Bakugou turned away and focused and repeated in his head “are you listening”

Once he stopped he focused on the voice which responded with a repeating “I’m listening”

He smiled and began repeating “I’m in class A and I’m pretty sure you are too”

After he replied he took a look around, no one seemed to be acting weird

Deku was trying very hard to not make it obvious that he was freaking out a little

There was only one person in class A that he would want as his soulmate but that was unfair to both of them (Kacchan and his soulmate)

Bakugou took the chance to focus on the voice again and heard “you’re right I am”

Bakugou decided to kick it up a notch, the voice seemed panicked and he figured whoever it was, was on the verge of reacting

So he decided on “by the way shitty hair isn’t my soulmate, he and pinky can hear each other even if they don’t know it”

After a moment, one he assumed his soulmate took to focus on his thoughts, there was a crash

Behind him Deku had dropped his textbook into his desk, surprised to hear Kirishima and Mina be called by nicknames only Kacchan calls them, in his head

In order to try and keep his cool he let out a quick “sorry lost my grip!”

Everyone but Bakugou believed him fully and continued with their conversations

Bakugou decided to push even harder and say “it’s you isn’t it, I’m right”

Deku just barely held back a squeak and then announced he was going to use the restroom

Bakugou knew this was his chance and left a few minutes later

He figured Deku might be overwhelmed so he stopped pushing thoughts and decided to actually talk to the damn nerd

He hoped he would find him fairly easily and he was right, Deku had only turned a corner and then stood against the wall

Bakugou walked up slowly and cleared his throat while he was still far away enough so he wouldn’t startle Deku

Once Deku looked up at him his eyes widened and he let out a “Kacchan!” and then Deku took a deep breath and said “Did you have to do that in the middle of class?!” and Bakugou smiled, of course, his nerd was just worried about all of the extras in the room

“I saw my chance and took it, you were the one thinking that shitty hair was my soulmate”

At the word soulmate, the reality of the situation hit them both and Deku wondered out loud “I wonder if Aizawa knew when he put us in the same room” (he did)

Bakugou shook his head slightly and said “you’re gonna have to keep saying our thoughts out loud, I don’t plan on being able to hear them after today”

Deku was confused for a second until he remembered the way to stop being able to read your soulmates thoughts and blushed darkly

“Really now? you really want me to say them all out loud?” Deku shot back with a raised eyebrow (the effect was slightly dulled but the bright blush)

Bakugou laughed quietly and took the comment as an ok (it was more like an enthusiastic yes but that’s beside the point)

He slowly closed the distance between them and landed a solid peck on Deku’s lips

Bakugou had begun to pull back, not wanting to overwhelm Deku once again but he was chased backward

They eventually made their way back to class staggering their entrances by a few minutes

Once Bakugou walked in Aizawa said “Bakugou, Midoriya come here for a moment”

They made their way to the front and Aizawa squinted his eyes at each of them

“Midoriya was everything resolved?”

“Yes sir!”

“Good maybe now you two won’t be so distracted in the middle of my lessons, go take you seats”

They both took their seats and then look at each other before bursting out with laughter

Everyone looked at them weird and questioned them, they both just said “nothing don’t worry about it”

For the rest of the class, they held hands around their desks facing the wall

No one was surprised to see their room had the beds pushed together and how much friendlier they became with each other leading up to the big reveal of their relationship

I think stan twt has made my mental health go downhill. Every time i go on there i see ppl just hating on someone for having an opinion, not listening to a song, or saying that a member is being mistreated. Also so many ppl get cancelled for no reason, even if they did make a mistake and apologize they get bullied. And ppl actually make fun of other ppl for reading a certain type of ff. Sorry for ranting but they make ppl feel bad for no reason and it just makes me sad

I see a lot of these too! but please anon, if it affects your mental health please please try your best to not interact with it or just ignore those things. there's a lot of hate in stan twt because ppl either want to get attention/be "woke" and hungry for likes. sometimes a person was genuinely sorry for the mistake they made and ppl would still attack them.

Aaa Im getting nervous once again. Im probably just stressed cuz things arent, the best rn, and because of that i may be a little more paranoid but like, aaaa I wanna delete all my accs, or block everyone idk.
