Emily on Adventuring Party saying "I was gonna reach out to Ruben but then he dropped a fucking 9th level spell on me," is pretty illustrative of the difference between how the players see the game versus how a lot of folks online see it, like...why am I seeing people say stuff like "oh, they're all anti-capitalist until the battle starts and then all of a sudden, they're cops???? Do they not believe in restorative justice???"

These are kids who have plotted the deaths of the Bad Kids well before any of them actually did anything to warrant it, other than being good at adventuring. They've been openly antagonistic or have lied to and manipulated them. We're like, two episodes removed from them killing one of their own clerics (for the second time!) because they lost their opportunity to kill all of the Bad Kids. They sent dragons after a house full of kids that they launched into the sky in a wildly premeditated plan. They may have magically corrupted Gorgug's house!

The Rat Grinders have been manipulated by their teachers and magically corrupted by rage, yes, but even if you want to talk them down, if there's a rage wizard with ninth-level spells running around, you don't let that motherfucker drop a meteor swarm on all of your heads, like...there are priorities

I just got home from my office’s crazy holiday party so I am going to toss out a quick and dirty list of highlights for tonight and a do more detailed post between tomorrow and Friday, cool?

This episode was really about one girl’s quest to punch her sister. Like, the amount of times Siobhan said, “I guess I have no choice but to [Thing Adaine Almost Definitely Shouldn’t Try to Do],” because Adaine was just in a blind rage was hysterical.

Besides Gorgug’s SICK double crit and Fabian’s crit after almost dying (classic Fabian), everyone was rolling like trash today and it was SO FRUSTRATING. Every time Aelwyn would get away I was just like HIT HER (as if they weren’t trying). 

Gorgug Superman jumping everywhere.  

“You might be your own dad.” Bud. No.

I think the fact that Aelwyn thought that Fabian was plausibly DTF, on a roof, surrounded by people, in the middle of a fight says a lot about her.

Almost every time Adaine mentioned Aelwyn this episode it was, “My bitch of a sister,” or some variation thereof.

How does she cast her spells?/Like a bitch.

I am very proud of the group getting though the fight with no (permanent) casualties because it really could have been corn cuties round two if they hadn’t learned from their mistakes and leveled up a bunch.

The Hangman just loving Fabian being on fire.

Also that there were long periods of time that certain characters were just casually on fire.

Oh, before I forget, the house set for the fight was awesome and the reaction from the cast was warranted. 

I didn’t realize the cheerleaders were elementals last ep. 

Ally OOC talking about how it would have been weird having a sister irl growing up and the girls at the table being like, “MMM I don’t think that works how you think it works.”

I knew Brennan must have studied philosophy or something! Also, lol at him running out of philosophers and going for a JFK quote by accident.

The parts of this fight that were just Adaine and Aelwyn behaving as if one had stolen the others boyfriend and not like they were in a fight, possibly to the death (ie: middle fingers, the fuck you’s, the I’m gonna tell on you so hard). *Chef kiss*

Shoutout to Murph for talking down Emily from almost definitely getting herself killed. You can really tell she always wants to be taking swings, even if she misses rather than doing nothing. I’m so pumped her suggestion spell finally worked!

“Falling down” was a tag for this episode. Not wrong though. 

I just checked and in the description, they spelled Adaine’s sister’s name Aelwen but it’s almost midnight, I can’t change it now. I’m not learning a third spelling today. I refuse. 

The time stop element of the fight was really interesting. I was really curious about how all the Hudol students being there was going to play in. 

As boss as it would have been for Adaine to have dominated the fight (or for Riz to have just straight up shot her), it was extremely fitting that Adaine got her back with the same spell from episode 1, Tasha’s Hideous Laughter a freaking level 1 spell. And in front of all her fancy friends. And, speaking of...

“Adaine Abernant. How do you do?” With that shit eating grin. You know she’s been waiting her entire freaking life for that win. 

I still have a bunch to say, especially all the forward looking stuff (which I am very amped for), but I’m going to save that for tomorrow/the other ask I got today so see you then!
