I'd love to run it or some iteration of it again, but it's really @weaglerock's baby, so she has the final say on it! The past two years or so have been kind of rough on everyone's life-work balance, so it just sorta fell by the wayside. I'll see what I can find out. Nicke might be a second son, but he is a Bäckström. Still with worth, if not estates of his own.

The aforementioned worth had been calculated to the krona when he had been ransomed by the French. It had been paid by Gabriel, the Crown Prince. At the time Nicke had not known how he was to repay his cousin. Now that is no longer a mystery.

So, this is where I went Saturday morning.

Which is why I’m glad that now actor reveals are done for @allcapsexchange and I can say out loud that I wrote “The Sun Won’t Shine If You’re Not Looking”!!

It was truly a joy to write, even when I was forcing myself to bust out more than a chapter a day to meet the deadline. It’s set in my neighborhood in DC, they visit the bars and the restaurants where I know the owners and the bartenders and the servers, they walk down the streets I walk every day.

Incidentally, though I always feel like my contributions are, like... really obviously me (does someone argue about the Kool Aid Man? overly detailed jokes about Ikea furniture? gratuitous Achewood reference? way too long? IT ME) for the 2019 ALL CAPS exchange, here’s my fic if you’re interested in reading it. Or if you are... not interested in reading it. It’s okay, I won’t know.

Now I’ll be bold as well as strong on AO3, 43K, Djoos/Burakovsky and Backstrom/Ovechkin, though it’s mostly team ensemble hijinks.

Since it was posted last Saturday, I slunk back in and fixed a couple typos and also found I’d missed an entire fucking chunk in my copying and pasting in the last section, so, uh, hopefully there’s a part at the end there that makes a little more sense now. As always, like Carl Hagelin driving to the net on a breakaway, I tend to run out of real estate and stone-hand the finish by the time the deadline hits, which means I leave out half the shit I intended to include. I’d love to actually post a mini-epilogue. But I say this about every exchange fic, so we’ll see if it actually happens.

Also, big thanks to @weaglerock who not only didn’t laugh at me when I said, “okay but what if Burky was being stalked by a unicorn who kept stabbing the people around him in order to help him find his true love, and then Nicky has to fix it and find HIS true love and also Ovi is patiently waiting for Nicky to realize he’s in love with him, is that funny” but provided a bunch of help with idea bouncing and enabled my petty side by suggesting William Nylander as a potential victim.  (I love being mean to Nylander.
