The Church of the Watcher is now open, and accepting bookings for both weddings and burials 🌵

Lake Strange is coming along so nicely now. I've been building non-stop, and I'm just having so much fun. I've recently added a whole new modern residential area, along with a shopping area and a bar on the lakefront.

I know this save originally started as a simple Alphabetacy, but it's slowly morphed into a fully fledged custom hood which I've decided I'm going to play rotationally. I've already added in a few familiar TS2 premades (from both Pleasantview and Strangetown), along with some of my own sims. It will of course also include Aly and Zack Phabet.

What can I say? You just can't beat rotational gameplay in TS2.

I've also just finished finding default replacements for all the clothes in the game, and I'm in the process of tidying up all my default hair replacements as well.

I'm so excited to start playing in live mode soon, but I have a few more lots I want to add first to make the hood feel more complete.

And sorry for the essay. I guess it feels therapeutic to document all of this (so much has been happening!). It's why I've been so quiet here recently 😆

The Alphabet Alphabetacy - Chp. 2.2: Switching Roles

but other than their engagement, the days of Alabama's pregnancy passed relatively quickly. She spent arguably too much time at the gym for a pregnant person but hey the skilling never stops right ?

Ayoze was also focused on skilling up his fitness so he'd be in tiptop shape to chase those tots around 

also since his aspiration is to be a bodybuilder we'd hooked him up with a job in athletics at the local sports arena. He'd already gotten one promotion but hey gotta keep working up the ladder

Alabama also made time to hang out at the local bowling alley with her bestest friends in the world, the Partihausers

Jade in particular was ecstatic about hearing her big news and made sure to appropriately feel up her belly for baby kicks    

And pretty soon fall had rolled into Del Sol Valley, turning pretty much all the trees this gorgeous red color !

The morning of her next gig, Alabama felt a little strange, her stomach kept feeling weird, almost like some sort of cramp....

oh well the show must go on !

this feels like it was maaaybe too much of an athletic role for her at this point. What, a pregnant sim can't bowl but they can beat someone up ?? I mean, come onnnn

thankfully she did a half decent job even while miserable cuz we need the moolah !

as soon as she teleported back home, her stomach pains increased tenfold and Bama knew that she was in active labor

Everything went so fast, there wasn't time to panic or make it to the hospital before a crib popped into existence in the living room and she pushed and huffed the house down

and a whole lot of sparkles later, 

everyone meet Byrd Alphabet !!!

With our new arrival the hut was getting a little crowded and we'd saved up a meager amount so welcome to the Alphabet's new casa

and of course you all get a ~brief~ house tour as its just a small starter

Among the furniture we did manage to splurge for a punching bag for Alabama and Ayoze

moving on to bedroom, where our trusty mirror still lives

a working bathroom with everything a sim could need

and last but not least a very empty nursery for little Byrd to grow up in, or at least get through the baby stage until we can get some more enriching items

our sims were appropriately excited about their new home, Ayoze in particular running at a mad dash to go admire their brand spankin new interior

oh erm maybe not the best costume to comfort the baby 🫢

NOOOOOO....welp goodbye baby Byrd, he's been enveloped by the llama monster

thankfully the llama threat was neutralized and the baby stage flew by in a mess of dirty diapers,

dirty dishes, and broken plumbing woo !

but before I knew it, our two parents were gathered round the crib to welcome little Byrd into infanthood

yahooooooo !!! 

and he gained the wiggly infant trait, so cute ! :D

(This is the first time I've used Tumblr and I'm weirdly nervous to post even though I'm just shouting into the void right now.)

Years ago, I started an alphabetacy in the Sims 3, and documented it on a private blog. I'm so late to the game, but I figured as long as I'm making a simblr, I might as well post this stuff where someone besides me could be entertained by it.

So these are my long-lost founders, Alexander Abiec and his wife, Zahra (née Diwan), who he stole from an unhappy marriage. They just had that chemistry and the A-Z thing was too cute to pass up.

Alexander is Flirty, Family-Oriented, Athletic, Charismatic, and a Computer Whiz. Zahra is Handy, a Natural Cook, Good, Family-Oriented, and Charismatic. They were a great match. Neither was career-oriented, both value family above all else. Each time Zahra got pregnant, Alexander quit his job to spend time with the baby.

Together, they had four boys: Alfonso, Amir, Ahmed, and Ali. Tragically, all the boys but Ahmed were lost when my Lucky Palms save file got corrupted, and Ahmed moved to Sunset Valley.

Devin’s “Try  It All” Legacy Challenge for The Sims 4

Hi there! This is a legacy challenge I created to do/see/complete everything The Sims 4 has to offer at least once. It incorporates all traits at least once, most aspirations and careers, and all skills and collections. I apologize if the transitions aren’t all that (I randomized the generations and strung them together the best that I could), but I think this is a really neat idea and wanted to share it. However, please don’t post this elsewhere without giving credit. I spent many hours putting this together. I hope you enjoy! I’d love any feedback you have! If you’d like to post about your journey, you can use the #Try It All Legacy Challenge

Rules:

Don’t cheat. It’s no fun if you cheat your way to victory. The aim of the game is to do and complete everything the game offers at least once. If you cheat, you can’t boast about completing such a feat.

Traits, Aspirations, and Careers are chosen for you. Unless specifically stated, you can decide which branch of the career you’d like to do.

All Aspirations, Skills, and Collections listed must be completed before you move on to the next generation. Failure to complete one of the listed requirements (unless due to some game mechanic or something outside of your control) results in the loss of the challenge.

Obviously each generation needs to have at least once child (If you don’t then the legacy can’t continue!). It’s up to you whether you adopt or birth the heirs, and how the heir is chosen unless specifically stated (i.e., the heir can be whoever you want, unless as in Gen 21 when the heir needs to be a vampire).

Berry Sims aren’t a required part of the challenge, but I’ve added in colors that I think pertain to each generation nicely if you’d like to incorporate that as well.

Since there are so many generations, you can also make it an Alphabetacy!

What to Do:

Create your founder with the given Aspiration, and Traits (and Berry color if you’d like to incorporate that into the game).

DON’T CREATE ANY CHILDREN OR SPOUSES.

Choose a large lot to grow your family on. There aren’t any restrictions on staying on the same lot, but I personally think it’s neat to see the lot change over the course of the challenge.

1. Super Parent (Light Blue)

You’ve always wanted to have a large, beautiful, and successful family. As the matriarch/patriarch, you want to see your children grow up well, and are determined to be a big part of that.

A Few Updates

Holy shit, I’ve barely been gone a month and my follower count has near doubled. Thank you, everyone, for still watching this blog while I’ve been gone!

Sadly, I had to factory reset my computer. I was able to save my Downloads folder, but I lost everything else. So, everything is cancelled. The Alphabetacy is gone, the BaCC is gone, Pleasantview is gone.

I just got TS2 to work again, so hopefully I’ll be able to start things up again soon.

Issues with the Alphabetacy

I’m having game issues right now. I’m pretty sure the university is causing them - basically, I’m trying to send my current heir off to university. The travel is fine, they reach university and are able to do stuff, but when I try to save the game, it crashes - sometimes it takes a bit, sometimes it happens almost instantly, but I can never save the game while at university.

I’m trying to figure out solutions here. I’ve tried using Nraas options while in the university town to make sure there’s nothing in the town causing it to be unstable, I’ve tried going into edit town mode and mucking around at the university. I’ve got it down to two ideas right now - the first is to send my Sim to university and see if I can complete the degree and travel back home all in one go, but given that I have to save once or twice a day because of occasional crashes, I doubt that’ll work.

My second idea is to just make a new save, stick the Alphabet house down there, and start fresh. It’ll be the starter Sunset Valley, which means we may end up with someone marrying a well-known name, but it’s better than having all these game crashes. Also, the ghosts might stop working, though I’m pretty sure the urns would still be there.

Any thoughts from my readers? I appreciate seeing the likes you guys leave on my chapters, and I know that most of my followers are Simmers as well, so you guys might have more insight into how I can fix the problem. Right now, I have just over a month’s worth of posts in my queue, which is troubling because I’m doing Camp NaNoWriMo this month and likely won’t have time to play the game and make new posts...

THE ALPHABETACY CHALLENGE - WITH DIFFICULTY LEVELS

To start, create your founder. They may be any gender, as long as their gender customisation allow them to get pregnant. You may customise their looks as much as you want, but traits and aspirations may have to be randomised (see difficulty rules). Your founder may have any name, as they do not count to the challenge, but make sure their surname is something you like as this will be kept through the generations. You can move in to any lot and have any house, as long as you can afford it with your starting money - no cheats!

Easy Rules:

Each baby can be a different letter of the alphabet - e.g twins can be a and b

You may have any number of spouses

All reward traits and potions allowed - except potion of youth

You can have as many babies as you like per generation

You can have any career and aspiration - traits must be randomised

You may marry and move in any spouse

To complete the generation, you must complete an aspiration, max a skill or reach the top of a career. However, you may play on after this point, this is just where you HAVE to get to, at least

Points:

Start on 50 points

+10 for every alphabet baby born

-5 for every new spouse in a generation (be loyal people!) - unless the spouse dies

-10 for using Potion Of Youth

-2 for using reward traits/potions

+5 for every skill reached to level 5

+10 for every skill matched that you did not use to move on a generation

+15 for every aspiration completed that you did not use to move on a generation

+15 for every career completed that you did not use to move on a generation

-5 for every generation beyond the 4th that you take to complete the challenge

Medium Rules:

Each generation is a different letter - e.g twins must both be the same

You may have one spouse per generation

Only fertile reward trait allowed

All reward potions allowed - except youth

As many babies as you like per generation

You can have any career

Aspirations and traits must be randomised from toddler to teen

You can pick any aspiration when ageing to a young adult

You can marry and move in any spouse

To complete the generation, you must complete an aspiration or reach the top of a career. However, you may play on after this point, this is just where you HAVE to get to, at least

all the alien babies in strangetown super had me wanting to jump into a casual little personal save, which is, in a move that is very circa 2004 of me, another alphabet legacy — truly found my groove twenty years ago and never learned to play another way. not planning on posting her on the regular, but this is alfie moon my sweet space cadet :-)

i'm having so much fun in my new alphabetacy save, omg. i honestly haven't enjoyed ts4 this much in a while.

in particular i'm loving playing through the active scientist career. i swapped out the original lab for a new one from the gallery and omg it made it so much more fun. why didn't i do that sooner?

Okay... so I've decided to start a (concurrent) version of my Alphabetacy in the TS4 too, because... why not? Aly is reborn, and she's moved into a fresh new Strangerville save which I've spent the last few days setting up.

The same Alphabetacy rules apply as in my TS2 game... in that there are, well, none. I mean, other than the whole naming convention thing, of course. Each heir will (probably) also need to complete their aspiration too, because that seems like it might be fun, and I literally never play with aspirations in TS4.

I've also decided to lock my gameplay to just the one world, at least for now, as I've really been enjoying that aspect of TS2. I've actually also never played in Strangerville before, which is crazy really, but I was just always waiting for the right time? So far I've just populated the neighbourhood with TS4 versions of the Strangetown premades, as well as some other familiar faces too.

This doesn't mean the end of my TS2 Alphabetacy. I intend to play both at once, cos I'm certain that won't be confusing in the slightest. If anything, you only need to remember the one character (for now) 🤪

It does mean my Kattan-Landgraab legacy is officially on hiatus though (as if it wasn't already...). Hopefully that fire will reignite within me again eventually.

The Alphabet Alphabetacy - Chp. 2.1: Switching Roles

helloooooooooo and welcome back to the second chapter of the Alphabet Alphabetacy

alright alright no need for all the applause, let's just jump right in ey ?

last time we left off with the new couple moved in to their tiny little hut ( and in matching outfits LOL)

of course they immediately made sure to try out the brand spankin' new double bed ;)

the next morning, Ayoze tried his hand at some breakfast in bed for his lady but it uh, didn't exactly go well

and UNFORTUNATELY we got a stupid water-saving NAP voted into the neighborhood so Bama had to go around collecting signatures to get it repealed ughhhh

I mean at least she got to meet some of the neighbors but likeeeeeee still irritating LOL

ok so ermmmmm time to update you guys on the fact that when Ayoze moved into our household, I discovered that he has THREE children already with Penny Pizazz, but they weren't in like any sort of relationship... hmmmm

at this point I took a quick little looksie at my mods and discovered that I had in fact left the setting on where hookups could produce offspring.... oops !

Yeah I think Ayoze's face here says it all

anywayyyys we don't stand for deadbeat dads in this household so naturally Ayoze was off in San Myshuno spending some quality time with his daughters

later that day, he headed off to the spa with Alabama as both sims desperately needed some pampering and relaxation

They spent some time making gains in the fancy spa gym

then the duo donned some complimentary sheet masks and made their way to the hot springs

side note, I have not played Sims 4 in a HOT MINUTE and didn't realize they'd added more content into spa day with the 'refresh' since I was barely paying attention. Nice surprise I must say

the next day, Bama set off for another day of fame and stardom

But before we could do basically anything but get into hair and makeup, showers of confetti burst out above her and she popped out a cute little bump !! 

That's right, the first kid of Gen 2 is on the wayyyyyyyy

well there goes Bama's good mood as nausea from the first trimester swept over her

with all that going on, she completed the gig as best she could

....sword fight and all 😑

Thank god our gal arrived home unscathed from her stunt and headed straight inside to tell Ayoze the good news !

I'd say both our simmies were pretty excited about the impending bambino

So excited in fact that Ayoze took Alabama by the hand and asked if she'd be up to go watch the stars at the beach that night to celebrate

Of course our girl said yes to the late night getaway, but unbeknownst to her, stargazing wasn't Ayoze's only plan that night

oh no he had something much MUCH more important planned

With the stars twinkling above them, Ayoze got down on one knee and asked Alabama to spend the rest of their sim lives together

and of course, she said yes :)

ramblings, feeling chaotic

Random, near-unintelligible, brain dump incoming:

I’m so torn as to what game/save/sims to play right now. After more than two years of playing my Kattan-Landgraab legacy super consistently, I feel like I’m in a period of major flux. And it’s not that I don’t feel inspired to play Sims right now, because I absolutely do 😆

Basically I finally loaded up TS4 today after a few months of not touching it. After updating mods and downloading a bunch of new hairs, I played my legacy for a bit but almost immediately felt kinda overwhelmed? There are just so many sims right now, all of whom I’m very attached to, and all with a multitude of interconnecting storylines going on. I’m honestly SO ready for the next generation but I still need to get everyone aged up to that point first 💀

Because of that, I now have a sudden and unhinged urge to create Aly (my TS2 founder) in TS4 and have a go at playing a more chilled Alphabetacy. I’d want to just play in one world (wiping all the others entirely) as I’ve really been loving that more insular and contained aspect of TS2 recently.

At the same time, I’m also very much loving playing in my TS2 Alphabetacy save too, and I want to continue enjoying that. I just miss some elements of TS4 at the same time.

Thing is, I’m just not very good at having multiple saves/games going on at once. I like to just hyper-focus on one thing.

Awe thanks hon!! Hopefully I can save it. I think I know what the problem is, and I’m taking a look at it today. If worse comes to worst, I’ll extract Bruce and age him up and we can start again with him!
