You can see both Mysaria and Larys appealing to Rhaenyra’s and Aegon’s weaknesses and insecurities throughout the season. And while both might be genuine in these scenes, it’s hard to believe it’s not fueled by self interest. To quote Tyrion in GOT, “making honest feelings do dishonest work”.
The Rhaesaria kiss caught all of the attention but in the episode, Larys and Aegon shares a similar scene (without the kiss, THANK GOD FOR THAT), Larys sits at a suffering Aegon’s bedside and delivers a nifty but sincere “we’re not so different, you and I” speech, bonding over their disability, to Aegon’s growing horror. Larys basically tells him that people will pity him, and underestimate him, which he can use to his advantage. He also tells him that Aemond will try to kill him, something that (as Tom’s performance makes abundantly clear) Aegon has already figured out.
Ah, you conveyed what I was trying to say in my last rhaesaria post, I didn't even think of Larys-Aegon! Thanks! Yes, I still think that Mysaria is working from her own agenda, but it's much clearer and obvious that Larys is directed by his own in his "bonding" with Aegon bc unlike Mysaria, he has shown no real care for the smallfolk AND she shared a very personal story about her own rape as a child...idk if it's entirely her being selfish but that she has a connection to Rhaenyra while working her way with that more altruistic goal.
So Mysaria's "self interest" if we argue for such, seems to me, a mixture of her own desire for a higher political role AND to protect those affected by nobles. And this still doesn't negate the:
appealing to Rhaenyra’s and Aegon’s weaknesses and insecurities throughout the season
So that's nice.

Idk if you’re on other social medias but the response to the helaemond scene on GA spaces like IG, FB, YT are all very different from how the green stans here are perceiving it. Locals are all bringing up that he recognizes she’s there before she speaks, she’s comfortable enough to confront him in the first place, and he doesn’t display any anger or upset towards her about it. And then you come on here or twitter and a post about how Aemond is likely going to kill her will have 2k likes 😭
you are right. some express their rage at the events of rook's rest and aemond through their opinions of what might happen. and it's also a bit of unwillingness to keep an open mind. did i hate the way they did rook's rest? yeah. like i said before, i had hoped aemond would only arrive a little late, but i've talked to people who could simply not to see any of aemond's real, tangible resentment growing over the years. and to a degree i didn't blame them for a while because it sucks when you want to see a story and it's not the one you get, but their unwillingness to see aemond's buildup @ aegon in season 1 as well made them more shocked and more enraged than they could have been had they realized the writers are not telling the story they (and sometimes i) want to see. and mind you i had my moments when people brought up this theory to me shortly after s1 that i fought internally against, but the show had already disappointed me enough to keep an open mind about plot lines i disliked.
that being said the idea that aemond is gonna kill helaena now is quite ridiculous. i don't see any of that at this moment, especially because helaena has no intention of playing any game so whatever she knows will not likely make it to anybody's ears. the confrontation isn't about some righteous anger helaena has, she seems both intrigued and apprehensive, and to a degree she acts like his own consciousness in that moment, but she's not there to berate him and then run off and tell everyone what he's done. that's not, imo, what they're trying to show.
more than that aegon likely knows what happened to a degree and we already see a second confrontation in episode 6, unless it is a hallucination, which i've heard is not.
but to end this long tirade you're right. the divide is big bc now a lot of the greens hate aemond (and they hated helaemond before) so they're projecting that rage into their opinions.

as usual i’m making somewhat of a thread of my thoughts on episode 10!
HOUSE OF THE DRAGON FINALE SPOILERS SO BEWARE
• lucerys and rhaenyra’s relationship in this episode makes my heart sink. especially knowing the ending but even in general. out of all of her children rhaenyra really has a soft spot for luke, she had some sweet moments shared with jace but he’s a firstborn so that explains it. luke is mama’s boy
• ok honestly why is every birth scene in that show so traumatic. i CRIED. gotta admire emma d’arcy acting cause wow. i loved the dragon parallel, i believe it was syrax feeling his rider’s pain?? and rhaenyra’s strength oh. my. god. pushing her daughter out HERSELF, not letting any handmaiden near, knowing damn well she won’t live, grieving her and literally in no time dealing with a handful of problems? THIS WOMAN Y’ALL
• the scene on the bridge between daemon, otto and rhaenyra was great. parallel with ep 2 was POETIC, also really loved seeing rhaenyra on a dragon bc we didn’t really see that since she was a younger girl. that book page reference? rhaenyra crying when being reminded of their ‘childhood love’? I SCREAM IN LESBIAN
• oh OH OH. CORONATION. i really suck at remembering names but the knight stealing viserys’ crown and actually running to help the other side reminds me of jaime post season seven. daemon crowning rhaenyra weeks after pretty much crowning his brother was poetic. damn everything about this episode is poetic
• i talked about the choking scene in a previous post so there’s nothing to add here really. i personally found daemon’s characterization interesting and complex, also rhaenyra snapping him right back with ‘he didn’t tell you, did he?’ knowing how important viserys’s trust was to him??? my complex babes really deserve each other
• corlys really said imma support my daughter in law even tho she’s not my daughter in law anymore. i stan. i really hope they give us some ‘queen and her hand’ moments between him and rhae in season 2
• ALSO RHAENYS😭😭😭😭💍💍💍💍💍
• lucerys and aemond- i was literally scared to write this part bc it’s so messed up and there are so many layers but here we go. first of all rhaenyra’s motherly moment with jace and luke before they flew off was EVERYTHING.
luke is such a baby compared to all them lords and aemond and he did such a great job 😭😭😭 like he addressed that baratheon brat with so much respect and grace. they did raise him well.
THEY BOTH ARE MAMA’S BOYS PLEASE
ok i really am not an aemond’s fan and i’m not trying to defend him but the fact that luke’s death was an accident actually really appealed to me. like obviously aemond is a prick for doing the whole ‘give me your eye’ thing but it is understandable of him to look for revenge. luke did take his eye. it was fair but you have to admit it gotta hurt. might be that he actually wanted that revenge, might be that he just wanted to scare the poor boy and that was the exact reason for chasing him on vhagar. luke’s death was obviously a shock for him and that’s what i find really interesting about it:
Aemond might be an excellent swordsman, he might be advanced and familiar with how it’s done but he never faced death — until now. we don’t really see aemond the way we see aegon, jace and luke - as a young man who literally has no life experience yet - but he is. until now.
• ending scene 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
honestly im in awe if you finished it lmao. overall it was one of the best episodes i’ve seen so far and i really enjoyed the intensity and some unexpected turns. i know people tend to hate it but if you didn’t i’m right there with you
