That roleswap au for king and the collector is actually so interesting and cool. like wow. I love it a lottt and i wanna know id u have any extra ideas for it or if that was all. (also yk how king had an arc trying to find his father? would there be something like that for the collector or no)
Original post here.
Yes! The Collector has an arc analogous to King’s ‘who and what was my dad, why did he disappear on me and who am I?’ arc in Season Two. This is an arc exploring, addressing and wanting to make up for their morally grey actions (namely their role in the Titan genocide), the sheer power and irresponsible behaviour of their past self as a whole, and how to reconcile all of that with who he is in the present and the mature, heroic person he aspires to be.
“Echoes of the Past” and “Edge of the World” are title-swapped in the AU, I think, because Season Two episode three has them visit Titan Trapper Island and the other becomes the one with King and his island.
So, in Season One we know that the Collector used to be a god in terms of his power level, had much the same naively careless, selfish, flippant personality they had at the start of the show, and therefore did some dodgy stuff without realizing how harmful it was. But the worst example of that we have is persecuting and trapping the Owl Beast and that hatchet is mostly buried at the start and fully buried in an early Collie-centric episode. As far as we know, his actions never had more severe or far-reaching consequences. Associating real murder with this kid who sleeps with stuffed animals and thinks making bread puns with Luz is the height of comedy is just impossible.
“Edge of the World” begins with a news broadcast about Belos and King and ‘the Titan’s plans’, which the Owl House family scoff at. Collie has already said in “Young Blood, Old Souls” that they saw live Titans and know that the very dead one they live on retaining the ability of communication is bullshit, but now they casually mention an old friend named Bill who might still be alive and will back them up on that. Luz and Lilith jump at the chance to help people - if someone other than ‘the Owl Lady’s weird delinquent kid’ can verify that nobody can hear the dead Titan, they could prove Belos is lying to his subjects to control them! Lilith individually is also interested in the rich history of a whole different civilization to be learned. Collie is on board and thinking more in the short term excited to see how Bill is doing; even if he’s dead, the Titan Trappers are probably still around, and it’ll be so fun to introduce their new friends to their old friends’ descendants! Eda is wary because she knows, but hasn’t really talked to Collie about it due to discomfort with deflating their joyful mood and damaging their faith in people, that it seems like most of the Collector’s “old friends” were just using him for personal gain. But her kids beg her, so she agrees. Off to Titan Trapper island they all go, including Hooty. They bring the Collector’s tablet to prove it’s him (their last physical form looked different) and in case they know how to fix it, or can unlock their power with their own tablet, though it’s already broken. Between prospective reunions, showing Eda, Luz and Hooty around his old stomping grounds and the slimmest possibility of restoring his god status, Collie has high hopes!
The Titan Trappers do indeed recognize the Collector. They warmly welcome “the Grand Hunstman” and their company with gifts and a feast. Collie explains the name is a nickname they gave him for being the best at playing the Trappers’ favourite game: Titan chase! Before they can elaborate on what this game involved, they’re distracted catching up with Bill, who seems genuinely interested in them and their life even after learning he’s no more powerful than he looks now. Meanwhile Luz is supportive but more interested in debunking Belos’s Titan claims. She, like Hooty and Eda is more cautious of the Trappers, but Eda is barely concealing hostility and tries to keep up with her kid. She smells a rat. This is way too good to be true. Bill inspects the cracked tablet and he and Collie dig deep into magical research.
Meanwhile, Lilith and Hooty go with Luz to look for Titan info to leverage against Belos, Lilith more focused on historical and cultural knowledge. They finds the skulls. Child skulls. They’ve seen King, so they has a frame of reference for the sizes.
Holy shit. Titan chase was genocide.
Collie led a genocide.
Bill figures out a magic-freeing ritual might just be possible, by channeling it through the two points of connection with the Collector’s former prison and exposing him to the flow. Problem is, they’ll need Titan blood to activate the ritual. And Belos is guarding the last surviving Titan. Collie is content knowing it’s possible and remarks that Belos has plenty of King’s blood fuelling his machines and stuff (as Luz observed during “Young Blood, Old Souls”) and it’ll just be a matter of stealing some of it. Then they can play all the cool superpowered games they used to and more!
Bill seems weirdly upset about this and reminds the Grand Huntsman that they still need to resume their long-paused game of Titan chase. It was so much fun, doesn’t he remember? The Titans are all cheaters and bullies anyway, like the bully that trapped the Collector in the first place. King is his very own son! Surely it would only be fair to kill him in revenge? The Collector remembers that he did find slaying Titans a lot of fun, but, well, it’s hard to explain, but it just doesn’t feel good anymore. King hasn’t really done anything bad, as far as he knows. If he has, it’s ‘cause Belos ordered him to and he thought his dad wanted to, and Belos is the meanest of all and Collie listens to Eda all the time, so he kinda understands. Everyone nowadays thinks the Titan is a god. But Collie knows they were normal people in their minds and hearts; and they’ve learned they are, too. It’s wrong to hurt people who haven’t done bad things, isn’t it? It’s wrong to kill people even after they’ve done some bad things. He and King are both people and that takes all the fun out of Titan chase. In fact… Bill tries to deflect before he can finish that thought, but they do it anyway.
What… what was the point of Titan chase in the first place? Why did the ancient Titan Trappers come up with it? What did they want the Titans’ power for?
A flashback sequence with his new perspective confirms that they were exploiting him and it all along and doing serious damage to the world around them (the authentic versions of rose-tinted memories of fun and games seen when he first recalled the Trappers). Struggling to process this, the Collector takes the tablets and backs away in revulsion and terror. Bill completely loses his patience and orders the Trappers to capture the Collector. The new plan is for them to hold him by force until they have the Titan blood, whereupon they’ll perform the spell but intercept the flow of magic. Bill himself will absorb the full extent of the magic and, as a god in his own right, restore his civilization to its former glory. And then, well… he won’t need the magic’s helpless, useless last vessel anymore. He omits when he relays the objectives to his people, instead spinning it as them ‘helping’ their confused, misguided god and ‘liberating’ him from their corporeal prison. Eda, hating that’s vindicated, tells her son to run and fends them off.
This is when Luz intervenes, spiriting the Collector to safety. On one hand, she loves her sibling figure and wants to protect them and is logically aware he didn’t understand his actions. On the other hand, her emotional side: “You killed all the Titans? Why did you kill all the Titans?”
Her frantic questioning tips Collie from panic into a full breakdown. He sobs that they lied, he thought it was a game, he thought they were all having fun, but it wasn’t fun, was it? It was never a game. Nothing was ever a game! Not Titan chase, not Eda and Belos’s hide-and-seek; everything’s always been big and real life and death and people getting hurt, and they were too caught up in the fantasy to realize it. And how much else did people lie to them? How many more of his old friends were just using him? They don’t know what’s real and what’s fake. The guilt is crushing like the bottom of the boiling ocean and he hates themselves for being naive and selfish enough to be complicit in atrocities on a scale an adult mind, let alone a child’s, struggles to process. There’ve been so many lies and misunderstandings, he doesn’t know who he is at all. Luz calms herself down and tries to reassure Collie that it matters that he didn’t have bad intentions and it’s going to be okay. It doesn’t do much.
Eda and the Titan Trappers both find them. A battle breaks out with protective big sister Luz, mama Eda, Aunt Lilith and Uncle Hooty fighting in all their in glory. But the Trappers’ numbers and unfamiliar style of magic and weaponry wear them down. During the fight a blast grazes Collie, leaving a small pink burn scar on his right cheek (parallel to the darker blue stars on his left one and King’s left broken horn) symbolic of his mortality and vulnerability and how it’s forced his personal growth. He is sick and tired of being the reason people are hurt. They don’t know who they are, but they know who they aren’t.
He stands up on a rock formation and announce to the Trappers, his sheer presence commanding their attention, “Stop! I’m not the Grand Hunstman anymore! I’m not your god! I didn’t even know what it meant that I was a god! [voice hitching] I was just trying to be your friend… but I didn’t know what that meant either. [hardening] Now I do. And I know more about power than you adults do. I know it’s wrong to kill people because of how they were born and to be even more powerful and call it justice! I don’t deserve your worship and you don’t deserve my power, or my friendship.” They rip off their necklace with their pre-imprisonment colour scheme and throw it at Bill’s feet. “This is over. We’re going home.”
Luz activates the Titan’s finger teleportation mechanism to escape on and Collie uses Luz’s ice and plant glyphs to destroy the finger. Returning to the Owl House, Hooty reveals they at least have the two tablets, which he swallowed while Collie’s speech was drawing everyone’s attention. The utterly exhausted Collie collapses into Eda’s arms. The episode ends on a note of uncertainty and innocence and ignorance, including the audience’s, shattered.
Jesus Christ, that was long. So the Collector’s subplot in Season Two is unpacking and coming to terms with all of that on top of needing to let Luz go. It’s… rough. He also gains a lot of skill in using glyphs, so they can be helpful in battles now having decided they can’t unleash his magic until he can trust themselves with it. He’s a fast learner and actually remembers how the ancient witches would do glyph magic. Those long, baggy sleeves? Full of glyphs.
“Echoes of the Past” follows on from “Hollow Mind” revealing Belos and Hunter’s origins by revealing King’s. I can’t figure out how to integrate King into the overarching plot really, but I know by this episode he’s pretty far down his ‘redemption’/abuser-escaping-and-defying arc that needs to somehow not just be a copy of Hunter’s. And Luz is determined to help him make that final step now she understands even more how despicable Belos and his parenting of both Hunter and King is is, and how urgent it is to defeat him. Collie is invested because a) he empathizes with King due to their similarities, i.e. being manipulated and exploited to enable atrocities for happening to be innately powerful organisms; and b) he desperately wants to atone for that whole genocide he led and helping to ensure the safety and happiness of the last known living Titan seems like a way to do that. Eda, like in canon, finds sending the kids to a distant, apparently safe location they could hide away in very convenient.
Though I don’t have a proper plot for this yet, I know King’s side is that he’s starting to doubt if what Belos says the Titan says is true, in a ‘Belos doesn’t realize it and means well but the connection might be patchy or something’s lost in translation from the Titan language or something’ sense, because apparently his dad doesn’t want him to have his recently developed friendship with Hunter that makes him happier than he’s literally ever been before. So he grudgingly teams up with Luz and the Collector, who are secretly planning to gently ease him into ‘your life is a lie’, to travel to his place of birth from his earliest memories, in the hopes of learning more about his father and species’s nature, culture or language from anything he or other Titans might’ve left behind there. What he gets is Belos and/or the antagonistic Coven Heads we didn’t get much of in canon coming to take him back (ironically weaponizing Titan’s blood tech he helped create), since Belos remembers that island. And thanks to Phillip’s forgotten notes, his very own ‘MY LIFE IS A LIE I AM NOTHING’ breakdown! It’s rough. This is when the false and real backstories for the previously seen broken horn are shown. We and the heroes also see all his scars and learn more of what Belos has put him through, a snippet of which along with Belos privately making it clear he purely cares about King’s power and it’s him, not the Titan, who has “big plans” for him on the Day of Unity, was observed in “Hollow Mind” (parallel to the Collector scene). But Luz and Collie are there for him. King, like Collie did his necklace and Hunter his cloak, discards his horn caps, crown regal robe for good. He keeps the underclothes because he isn’t comfortable with baring his scars yet.
Another big thing that happens in this episode is that the Collector saves the day. He and Luz are out of glyphs, Hooty is incapacitated and even King is too emotionally distraught/in shock to act at a critical moment and gets subjected to a countermeasure Belos of course devised against him. They put their faith in him, and he delivers, putting his knowledge of a really advanced spell into practice with King’s gladly offered battle-spilled blood. In the process actively risking his life. It’s the most simultaneously competent and heroic thing they’ve done so far. We have another ‘oh yeah Collie is a motherfucking GOD older than most existing continents in this world’ moment, only in a good way this time. But like how “Edge of the World” in canon ends on a overall loss, the spell is still unable to free King (to be Titan-proof, a restraint’s basically gotta be anything-proof) and when the villains retreat he’s taken with them.
Collie blames himself for this, and Luz and Hooty getting hurt before he remembered something useful. The episode heightens their already inflamed sense of personal responsibility - which brings them full circle from being all power, no responsibility, just like canon King - by both proving he has the knowledge and experience, and now the will, to make positive change and yet in his current state lacks the wisdom and raw power to always execute that perfectly. Few feelings are worse than knowing exactly what you need to do and how to do it, but just not having the ability to. This leads to their decision to finally unleash all their sealed magic in “King’s Tide”. It… doesn’t work as intended.

so in arofam, belos's mudbeast form IS an actual curse, like from a spooky scroll from the night market kinda curse as opposed to absorbing thousands of palismen souls to both stay alive and gain goo powers like in canon. So, did caleb actually curse belos in the au?
tbh i was waiting for the show to actually go more in depth on what his condition was so i could better implement it into the au but we’re finished s2 and i am STILL extremely confused on how it works.
Dana confirms his monster form is a result of consuming palismen, and it seems almost implied in the show itself it was self inflicted?
Tho WHY philip decided to do this in the show is not answered, so i have no idea why he decided to do that to himself?
But then that’s oddly countered by the glyphs on him?
Ok, no, lemme explain why this is so confusing to me still.
Ok, so HM and KT imply belos has control over his mud form? Right? Like ooo, scary he can do this whole thing at will right?
But then the show also says he doesn’t? Belos actually seems in pain in COTH and the collector says outright he seems to lack control over his form anymore, belos can’t be faking it because he has no reason to fake it for the collector and in HM the collector outright makes it out like he knows belos can do it at will.
Like even if you claim belos is faking his illness for hunter for whatever reason, there are instances where he can’t be, like if the palimans are to have his goop form and nothing else....what about EAE?
Philip was clearly in pain from his arms? he has no one to show this to, and he took a palismen to fix this issue?
So does he take them to.....somehow help with the glyphs?  or to turn into major goop beast? Is it both? Why does he need them to help with his glyphs? Why did he carve them there in the first place?
Did removing the souls give him control? Implying he only NOW has control over it and he actually didn’t before HM? But does that mean eating more paliman would just....give him more souls to annoy him? If he needs them to help with his pain then clearly he would have new pailsman in his head to bother him right?
Why does his form look like that thing king’s dad faought seemingly millions of years ago??????
i wanna say i can give you a great answer on his curse but i’m not even sure how it works in canon????
i might still make it a result of the one palismen he has in his system and give it different origin but philip’s curse situation confuses the heck outta me.

Hey Mr. Sandman, You Missed a Spot
AO3
Summary:
It's not that Hunter doesn't ever sleep, Eda's come to realize. It was that he falls asleep sporadically, most of the time in really weird places.
Or: 5 times Eda catches Hunter taking a nap
Part 1 of the Finders Keepers Series
---
Here’s the thing about Eda: she loves naps. Eda likes to be cozy, so usually, that equated to curling up under a blanket, lazing around, and falling asleep. The Owl Beast shared that sentiment, the creature that lived within her constantly wanting to nest. Those animalistic instincts were weird, but when you lived in a house with a demon who also liked to bury himself under a pile of stuffed animals, you kind of got used to it.
Here’s the thing about Hunter: he doesn’t sleep.
The kid has been living with them for only about two weeks, officially replacing Eda as Public Enemy Numero Uno in the eyes of the Emperor. When he’d showed up on Hooty’s doorstep, all bloody and barely conscious, Eda thought it was some kind of cosmic trick. The Powers That Be had to be pulling her leg because this was the second time the leader of the Emperor’s Coven had shown up to the Owl House with nowhere else to go.
Luz had been ecstatic to welcome him in, apparently excited to finally fulfill her dreams of becoming a middle child in their weird little found family. King was less thrilled, but eventually warmed up to the idea of Hunter staying with them as long as he taught King his secrets on how to command an army.
Hunter himself even seemed unnerved at the thought of living with them. He tried to leave a few times when he was still wounded, but his little bird palisman (Rascal, she’s heard him say) effectively herded him back into the house by continuously dive-bombing him and nipping at his ears. And after Belos put out a wanted poster for the kid, making him the Isles’ number one most wanted traitor, leaving wasn’t really an option. Not if he wanted to stay alive.
So eventually, Hunter begrudgingly accepted that yeah, he lived in the Owl House now.
And alright, Eda isn’t heartless. The kid was lost, wounded, and an enemy of the Emperor. She can work with that.
Getting to know him has been a challenge, though. Hunter has a lot of weird quirks. He holds himself so seriously that Eda has a hard time remembering that he’s a teenager and not a fully grown middle-aged man. He hardly ever smiles. He’s jumpy, practically jolting out of his skin every time you walk into the same room. He’s clearly Going Through Some Shit, as Eda so eloquently calls it, remembering how Lily went through the same thing when she slowly broke free of Belos’s freaky subjugation.
But still. The kid doesn’t sleep.
Eda first notices it around day four of his residence. She’s up early to go to the market, stepping into the living room and nearly transforming into her Harpy Form out of pure shock when she sees a figure messing with her bookshelf in the back of the room. Wide maroon eyes lock on hers from across the room and she feels the feathers that sprung to her skin recede.
“Titan, kid,” she breaths, “You nearly killed me. What are you doing up? It’s Saturday, you should be sleeping in.”
“Um…I did sleep in,” Hunter responds, as if it’s obvious.
Eda feels a frown tug at her lips, “The sun isn’t even up yet.”
The kid just shrugs a little lamely, and Eda feels a twinge of concern in her chest. (And ugh, feeling concerned for a guy who dangled you over the Boiling Sea is certainly weird.) If this was sleeping in for him, he couldn’t have rested more than five hours.
She steps closer, taking a second look at what he’s doing. Half the books are spread out on the floor, the other half stacked neatly back on the shelves in some kind of order.
He notices her looking, “I, uh, took the liberty of reorganizing your bookshelf. Or organizing it, since it didn’t really seem to have a system.” The kid ducks his head, the tips of his ears flushing pink. “I- I can put it back the way it was if you want, or organize them in a different way.”
That’s another thing about Hunter: he always has to be doing something. Being useful. Without direction, he crumples. It was always, What do you want me to do now, Miss Clawthorne this and I completed this task, Miss Clawthorne, what’s next that. His brain operated on a transactional level—I do this thing for you, you do this thing for me. And since Eda was housing him, he felt like he had to constantly be doing things for her. Constantly proving himself worthy to be here, repaying her. Hunter couldn’t seem to wrap his head around that she didn’t want him to do anything except stay comfortable.
Eda has thought up a hundred different little tasks for him to do in just his first four days. She’s running out of odd jobs to give him, and if she has to keep telling him what to do she’s going to start pulling out her hair.
“You’re fine, kid,” she says. “Keep doin’ what you’re doin’ if it makes ya happy. But you shouldn’t be up this early. You should at least take a nap later.”
Hunter tilts his head. “But that wouldn’t be accomplishing anything.”
“You don’t hafta be working all the time,” Eda stresses. “It’s okay to sit around and just exist once and a while. Actually, I think that should be your priority. Take a nap, relax, go cloud watching, take a walk—any or all of the above.”
“That sounds like doing nothing.”
“That’s because it is doing nothing.”
His face hardens, taking on that soldier-like seriousness that encompasses his entire demeanor. “Being lazy can’t be a priority.”
“Don’t think of it like that, then,” Eda almost snaps, wishing for a nice hot mug of apple blood. It was too damn early to deal with the repercussions of Belos’s all-work-no-play mindset. “Think of it as acting your age. Did you ever get to take naps as a kid in the Emperor’s Coven? Is relaxing just a foreign concept to you?”
He doesn’t answer, staring at her with those bagged eyes and guarded expression, and Eda throws up her hands in defeat.
She leaves then, her patience running too thin to continue arguing with him. She doubts he’ll actually go back to sleep. He probably goes back to doing whatever he was doing with that bookshelf. Eda makes a mental note to tell King to knock all the books off, just so Hunter can reorganize it later. Just for something for him to keep him occupied.
1.
Eda doesn’t even notice the first time it happens. It was one of Luz’s friends, Gus, who pointed it out.
The kids were gathered at her home after school, spread out on the floor of the living room along with various pillows and blankets. Luz found some card game she knew buried somewhere in the piles of human trash Eda has laying around, and the girl has been spending the better part of an hour trying to explain how it works.
“So the Wild Card doesn’t make you turn into a wild animal?” Willow questions, holding up a black card with looks like a colorful pie chart on it.
“Nope!” Luz says cheerfully. “It just becomes any color you want it to be to go with the rest of your hand.”
“But the card doesn’t actually change color?” Amity asks.
“No, it only represents the color,” Luz clarifies, and Eda has to admit, her girl has a ton of patience. She’s been quietly watching from her place on the couch, half-listening to their conversation, half-reading the Isles’ latest edition of You Gossipy Witch, a tabloid where a writer is speculating about her true form. Apparently, some people think she was raised by feral, wild owls on some far away barrier island, and has come to reside in Bonesborough just because she ran out of mutant rats to eat.
Weird.
But entertaining!
Gus holds up one of his cards, “So are blank cards bad, or—"
King jumps over his shoulder, landing on the deck of cards in the middle of their little circle and making them fly everywhere. “I have taken dominion over ALL YOUR CARDS. All of you must grovel for a taste of my wealth!”
“Actually, the point of the game is to get rid of all your cards,” Luz reminds him gently. “That way, when you get down to one card, you shout Uno! And you win! If no one else makes you draw anymore, that is.”
King deflates a little, apparently put off by the idea of less is more. “Oh.” Luz smiles and pats him on the head, and he brightens up. “Okay, let’s play, because I wanna make all of you draw as many cards as possible! You'll drown in your cards! Choke on them, even!”
As they start gathering up the cards that King threw everywhere, Gus lets out a little gasp. “You guys—is Hunter asleep?”
That immediately draws Eda’s attention away from the magazine. Her eyes flicker to the blond witch, laying on his stomach just on the edge of their group. He was still having a hard time socializing, especially with Amity, but Luz was determined to include him in all friendship activities. She said wanted to teach him how to be a kid, and hell, if anyone could knock some seriousness out of that boy it would be Luz.
Hunter is indeed asleep—his face is mushed into the forearms pillowed under his head, and his red palisman has weaseled its way to nestle in between the crook of his elbow. His breath comes out in soft little sighs, and Eda feels something in her melt.
“Awwww, he looks so peaceful,” Luz croons, mushing her palms against her cheeks. Amity’s already scooched past her, snapping photos on her scroll. Eda can’t blame her. She knows a good blackmail opportunity when she sees one.
Eda’s off the couch and catches King mid-pounce. “Whoa there, none of that buddy.”
“But Edaaaa,” the demon whines, his little arms and legs flailing in mid-air. “I have to conquer him when he least expects it!”
“Ehhh, let the kid sleep. Save your conquests for when he’s awake and can put up a fight.” Eda sets him down in his place in the circle, and the kids all glance at each other before turning back to the cards.
She notices that they’re more mindful to keep their tones softer, probably to not disturb the sleeping boy. And when Hunter wakes himself up about half an hour later, they don’t mention it, seamlessly integrating him back into their game.
2.
The second time it happens, Raine is walking Eda home. It’s early in the evening, and the pair just got done with a fabulous date—a picnic with apple blood and sweet (and stolen) baked goods? Titan, take Eda now, she’s found her perfect match.
She’s still riding that high, not noticing Raine stopping until they tug on their clasped hands. “Hey, who’s that? Is he okay?”
Eda follows where they’re pointing their finger. It’s Hunter, slumped against the base of an oak tree, fast asleep. His chin is tipped forward and a book open on his chest, and even more strangely, there’s a small pile of leaves on his lap.
“Oh, that’s just my—” Eda stops herself, the word catching in her throat. Hunter was a child in her care, yes, but he wasn’t quite her kid. Not like Luz or King. The blond witch was still too jumpy, baring his teeth and snarling at anything that tried to get close to him.
He calls her Miss Clawthorne, for Titan’s sake.
“—Hunter,” Eda finishes lamely.
Raine raises an eyebrow. “Your Hunter?”
“He’s uhhh, one of Luz’s friends who just so happens to be living with us. Not a big thing.”
Raine shoots her a deadpan look but strides forward anyway, kneeling next to the sleeping blond. They keep their voice to a low murmur, “Should we wake him? That can’t be comfortable for his neck. He’ll probably be sore later.”
“Eh, let him rest. This is more sleep than he usually gets.” Eda steps closer, kneeling down on his other side. It’s the side that has his scar, the slightly raised red tissue standing out even more so than usual now that he wasn’t constantly moving. She’s almost asked him how he got it, but he’s clearly sensitive about the subject. She’s seen the similar marks on his arms, and something tells her there are a whole lot more scars that he’s hiding.
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out who gave them to him.
Still, it’s hard to ignore just how young he looks. When he’s stripped of all of his snappy comebacks, quick defenses, and that guarded demeanor Belos forced onto him, he’s reduced to exactly what he should be:
A kid.
“Oh!” Raine startles in surprise. Eda looks up to see the cardinal palisman fluttering down from above them, carrying a few leaves in its beak. It hops down onto Hunter’s lap and deposits the leaves in the little growing pile on his leg.
A smile worms its way onto Eda’s face. She runs a finger across the little bird’s head, “Trying to keep him warm, huh?” The bird lets out a trilling note of confirmation. She lets the bird be, turning back to Raine, “I think Rascal’s got this covered. If he hasn’t come in before nightfall I’ll come out and get ‘em.”
The bard casts one last glance down at the sleeping boy before they stand. “Y’know, he kind of reminds me of someone.”
“Oh yeah?” Eda weaves her arm through Raine’s as the pair reassumes their walk.
“Yeah,” Raine hums. “He kind of has the same build as someone I met when I was held hostage in the Emperor’s palace. The Golden Guard. Did you hear that he ran away from the palace? There've been rumors that the Emperor himself is tearing apart the Right Arm looking for him.”
“Uh, about that...”
Raine stops, turning to look at her square in the face. Eda gives them a sheepish, toothy grin.
“Oh my god,” Raine says. “You adopted the Golden Guard?”
“Hey now, adopted is a very strong word—”
The bard cuts her off with a delighted laugh. “How am I not surprised?” Eda feels heat rise to her face, but can’t help but return Raine’s infectious smile. “Only you, Eda. Only you.”
3.
The third time it happens, Eda’s passing through the upstairs hallway, intent on curling up into her nest for an afternoon nap of her own. She hears a shuffling noise as she passes by the glorified storage closet that they gave Hunter as a room, and can’t resist a peek inside.
What she finds is definitely…not what she was expecting. Hunter is laying flat on his back on the floor, his feet elevated on the little cot they’d given him. Yeesh, that couldn’t be comfortable. Soft snores woosh past his open lips, his face turned toward a crystal ball that’s playing some cartoon he must have been watching before he fell asleep.
His body is nearly covered in stuffed animals.
“King,” Eda hisses. The horned perpetrator is in the middle of dumping his entire army onto the blond witch’s chest, pinning down his arms with plushies. “What did I tell you about burying people alive?”
The demon pauses from where he’s been slowly arranging his army over Hunter’s sleeping form. “He’s got plenty of room to breathe! I didn’t cover his face,” King protests. “Can’t subjugate someone who’s dead.”
“No subjugating—” your brother, she almost says, “—Hunter.”
King squints at her, but then grumbles and starts slowly taking the stuffed animals off the boy’s body. Crisis averted, Eda slips back out into the hall, mind swirling. That was the second time she’d almost referred to Hunter as hers in passing. The feeling is too raw to speak out loud yet, but there’s a growing warmth in her as she watches Hunter acclimate to his surroundings in the Owl House. With every day that goes by, he’s more comfortable around her, around Luz and King and Hooty, and he’s starting to come out of his shell. He’s growing softer, less quick to snarl, becoming more Hunter and less Golden Guard.
Unconsciously, Eda’s started viewing him as part of their little family. Two weeks ago, that thought would have made her uncomfortable. Now, she welcomes it with open arms.
Ugh, she’s getting so soft.
4.
The fourth time it happens is when Eda’s flying home from visiting Lilith. She’s only been gone for the day, and is hoping that leaving Luz in charge hasn’t led to any freak fires, the resurrection of the dead, or other various natural disasters. Unfortunately, even her most responsible kid is pretty reckless, so Eda’s expectations are set pretty low.
It’s probably sometime around 2 a.m. when she makes it home sweet home. She swoops in close, intent on landing on the front door but stilling mid-air when she sees something on the roof of the tower. Even from up here, it’s not hard to distinguish the form of a looming body.
Eda’s heart leaps into her throat and she takes Owlbert down into a dive. Her body is tense when she lands, her staff already aimed toward the person lurking by the edge of the roof. “Alright listen bucko, you better step back or—wait.” She sees what looks like a lump of feathers sitting on top of the person’s head, and Eda squints in the darkness. She quickly pulls out a light glyph, sending the tiny ball of sun forward.
“Hunter?!” Eda’s tense posture relaxes. The kid doesn’t answer, and it takes her a beat to figure out why. He’s dead asleep, slumped precariously over the telescope they use for stargazing. Eda has no idea how he’s even standing at all. Kid probably had a ton of practice of falling asleep on his feet during long, boring meetings with the Emperor.
“Wakey, wakey.” She places her hand on his shoulder, gently, but he wakes up with a full-body jerk, startling the palisman on top of his head. The cardinal chirps once in irritation, fluttering to rest on Eda’s shoulder instead.
Hunter’s eyes are wild for a moment until he seems to register where he is and who he’s with. He relaxes then, letting out a yawn so huge it would put any lion to shame. “…Eda?”
“The one and only,” Eda says, ignoring how her heart squeezes at the kid finally calling her by her name. “Wanna tell me why you’re up here in the middle of the night?”
“Waitin’ for you,” he mumbles, voice rough with sleep. His eyelids drop and he sways dangerously on his feet. “Wanted to… t’make sure y’got home safe.”
The warmth in her chest expands and eclipses her entire body in that fuzzy feeling she gets whenever one of her kids does something particularly adorable. Thank Titan it’s dark and Hunter is too out of it to notice the smile that spreads across her face. If he was fully awake, Eda gets the feeling that A) he probably never would have admitted that he was worried about her, and B) would have snapped at her for smiling at him like that. “Well, I’m home now, so let’s get you to bed before you topple over.”
Eda wraps her arm around his waist and nudges him along, practically carrying him back downstairs, their palismen following close behind. She doesn’t mind. Someone had to make sure he didn’t fall off the roof.
“Night, kid,” she says, tucking him under the blankets on his cot. Hunter doesn’t respond, already having slipped back into unconsciousness. And if she brushes his bangs tenderly out of his face, no one ever has to be the wiser.
5.
The fifth time it happens, Eda’s gotten used to it. It's not that Hunter doesn’t sleep, she’s come to realize. He just falls asleep in weird places. Why, she has no idea, but honestly, the kid looked so tired all the time, she wasn’t going to question it. They had bigger things to worry about.
The Day of Unity is just around the corner, and Belos has become more irritating than ever.
Eda hadn’t even thought that was possible for him, but apparently, it was. The scouts around Bonesborough have tripled, their captains leading more and more raids, butting into shops to check everyone’s papers, and invading random districts.
Oddly, Belos’s priorities seem to have shifted. He’s still sending out grunts to round up any wild witches, but the guards have been playing a weird sort of hide-and-seek, going beyond just patrolling the marketplaces to actually tearing into people’s homes. From what she’s heard, the guards never take anything, just searching the place top-to-bottom before leaving empty-handed and moving on to the next house.
Belos was looking for something.
And unfortunately, Eda’s got a pretty good idea of what he’s after.
Said thing just so happens to be slumped across from her at the kitchen table, dead to the world. It’s late into the night, and most of the kids have already gone to sleep. Too on edge to lie down, Eda’s been keeping herself busy by concocting more potions while the late-night news plays on her crystal ball in the background.
Hunter, striving to be helpful, volunteered to stay up and help.
It wasn’t long before the kid slowly started to nod off, face supported by his palm as his eyelids started to droop. He’d been in the middle of mixing two ingredients—highly flammable ingredients, mind you—and Eda plucked the vials out of his lax grip just in time. Honestly, it was a miracle the kid never killed himself in the Emperor’s Coven with how randomly he falls asleep.
He probably never got the chance to sleep at all, a voice reminds her. She remembers how dead-exhausted Lily was during her first few days at the Owl House. It was probably safe to assume that the Emperor had a habit of running the head of his Coven into the ground.
Hunter has been picking up on Belos’s tightening grip, too. He’s been getting quieter, more reserved. He’s come to the same conclusion that Eda has: the Emperor was tearing apart the whole of the Isles to get him back.
Why, though, is anyone’s guess. Hunter has long since explained that his uncle always said that the Titan had big plans for him, and it probably has something to do with the Day of Unity, but beyond that, the Emperor had always kept him in the dark. Luz has a crazy theory involving clones and blood magic, but that sounds like it’s a plot point straight out of one of her Azura books. King thinks Belos wants his artificial staff back, and Hooty predicts the Emperor is just sad because all his Coven leaders are leaving him to join Hooty’s superior best friends club.
Whatever the reason, Eda’s made it pretty clear that she’s not gonna bend to Belos’s intimidation tactics and turn him over. That smarmy gold jerk could set the whole Isles on fire and Eda still wouldn’t hand him over. Hunter’s part of the Bad Girl’s Coven now, and Belos can just suck it. And she’s not afraid to say that to his stupid face, either.
So when the cauldron at the end of the table that holds the scrying potion suddenly begins bubbling on its own, Eda may very well get her chance.
She’s up on her feet in an instant, dashing to the other end of the table just as the steam rising off the potion begins to warp into a familiar figure.
“Edalyn,” Belos greets, his voice sharp like a dagger. “I do hope I’m not interrupting your evening, but I needed a word with you.”
Ugh, scrying potions weren’t supposed to work both ways! Belos was too damn powerful. He could probably peer into their lives as much as they could peer into his.
“Sorry, but now’s a bad time,” Eda shoots back. “Why don’t you hang up and call back literally never?”
“It’s come to my attention that you have something of mine,” the masked man continues smoothly as if she hadn’t spoken. “I’d ever so appreciate it if you gave it back.”
Eda’s lip curls back, feeling the itch of feathers poking out of her joints. She wants to shift into her harpy form and leap through the potion to claw out his eyes. “Sorry, Belos,” she says, dripping smug bravado, “We wild witches operate solely under the laws of finders keepers. Your kid? Mine now.”
Eda expects that the Emperor would very much like to vaporize her. “Make your threats wisely, Owl Lady. You have no idea what you’re up against. Everything will be easier for you and your little friends if you just hand the boy back over to me.”
“Fat chance.” Eda throws back her shoulders and shoots him a sharp grin. “Sounds to me like you’re threatening one of my kids, and we weirdos stick together. Going after one of us is basically asking for all of us to bring you down. Remember how well that went last time? How my human cracked your mask and publicly humiliated you during your big let’s-turn-Eda-to-stone ceremony?”
The Emperor looks as though he has some choice words to say, but Eda doesn’t care. Hunter is her kid now. She glowers at him through that mist, voice lowering in with deadly promise. “You’ll have to drag him back to your Coven over my dead body.”
“That can be arranged,” sneers Belos.
“Try me, antler boy.” Then Eda whacks the cauldron and sends it tipping over the edge of the table. The connection is immediately severed as the potion goes splattering over the hardwood, and the resounding CLANG of the bowl makes Hunter shoot violently out of sleep.
“Huh?! Whassit—Eda? What happened? Are you alright?”
“Fine, kid,” she says, swallowing down the rage that’s still bubbling hot in her throat. “’S alright, just got a little clumsy and knocked over a cauldron. Sorry for waking you.”
“Sorry for falling asleep,” Hunter responds. He grabs a towel and hurries to clean up the oozing purple goo.
Eda waves him off, “Eh, I don’t mind. You kids need your rest. Growing bodies and all that.”
Hunter still hesitates, looking at her for a beat too long as if double-checking to make sure she wasn’t really upset. Eda holds back a sigh, a twinge of pity flickering through her that he’d even have to look at her like that in the first place. All the damage from Belos couldn’t be wrapped up in a month, she supposed.
She snatches up the cauldron, still dripping with the ruined potion. Peachy. She’ll have to call Lilith to get her scrying potion recipe. Though maybe not having this in the house was a good idea. Eda doesn’t want to risk His Royal Highness dropping in on any more unexpected house calls.
“Eda?”
She looks up at Hunter. The kid chewing on his bottom lip, wringing the half-soiled towel between scarred hands.
“I just…I wanted to say thank you,” Hunter says shyly. “I know having me here hasn’t exactly been easy—not only because of the fugitive thing, but because I’m…” He flounders for a moment, and Eda can only pretend to know what’s going through his mind right now. “…me,” he finishes finally. “You’ve been so kind and patient with me, it’s so much more than I deserve, and no matter what happens next—”
“Hey, no.” Eda cuts him off with a swift and gentle beratement. She sets the cauldron on the table and crowds closer to him, curling one hand around his cheek. The kid automatically leans into the touch, and Eda can’t help but wonder how Belos could have ever hurt a child who was as sweet as this one.
“You may be one bratty little shit, but you’re my bratty little shit. And Mama says you deserve all the smothering that comes with being a child of the Owl Lady.”
Then, to prove her point, she swoops down and quickly places feather-light kisses on the tip of his nose, forehead, and his scar, until Hunter squawks and shoves her away. He’s practically glowing, flushed all the way to the tips of his ears.
“Gross,” he snaps, rubbing furiously at his face. “I’m never helping you with your potions ever again.”
“I’ll accept your terms. Now get upstairs, it’s way past your bedtime.”
“I don’t have a bedtime, I’m not a baby.” Hunter sticks out his tongue but obeys, slipping out of the kitchen and disappearing into the rest of the house. Eda shakes her head as she watches him go.
Kids. What could ya do with ‘em?

I hope it doesn't bother you that I'm sending another ask. Your answers just genuinely intrigue me! (As they should... for someone sending an ask. Pfft.)
Do you think The Collector can be redeemed, or do you think he's too far gone and has no moral values for it to be possible? In any case, it would be difficult to redeem him with only a couple of episodes left.
its not a bother! i love having an excuse to ramble out my thoughts, keep giving me questions!
can the collector be redeemed? sure, any villain can be. should he? uhhhh. i personally don't think he should. or at least, it can't happen in a satisfactory way with the show's time limit.
now imma be honest, the show's made it very clear, i think, that the collector's getting a redemption arc of sorts. he is constantly shown in a sympathetic light, and we're given reasons to like him. (he was tricked by belos, he was sealed away, he is very childish. he has a funny goofy personality that everyone immediately attached onto). that on it's own isn't bad, but this version of the collector doesn't track with the other version. (the one in the cloak from eda's dream in Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Hooty's Door.)
the collector's past actions are felt across the entire series since eda's curse was revealed. the collector is the one who trapped the owl beast (and most likely many more sentient creatures) within scrolls and turned them into curses. the collector has a connection to why the titan's are (basically) extinct. the collector showed belos magic stronger than anybody else's, showed him how to make grimwalkers, etc. The collector has responsibility in how the boiling isles as a whole have been under belos' rule. not only that, but the collector, in canon, has been shown to have little regard for the life of others. he laughs about the grimmwalkers and how belos treats them (he sees them as toys, most likely. not even sentient beings.), he doesn't care if there's going to be a genocide of witches. all this dude cares about is being able to play games. that's....... kinda fucked
"but! the collector's just a child with godlike powers, he doesn't know better!" first of all: childishness =/= child. the collector is as old, if not older than the titan's corpse. he's an immortal, godlike being, who acts like a child with no regard for others. THIS industrial can of worms is not something that can be solved in *looks at scratched handwriting on my wrist* three episodes.
it's just there's not enough time. that's the problem with the writing, mostly, is that the writer's are attempting to rush through their plot and not properly flesh out things that definitely need more screentime to be understood properly. of course, disney's mostly at fault here (stop cutting your good shows!!! bastards!!!), but the writer's are also the one's making these decisions for the story. it feels like, instead of cutting back on the fat to make something digestible, they're trying to scoop as much of the original idea back onto the plate in time in hopes of releasing the full idea, even though it won't be as good. sure, it'll have more 'content', but i'd rather have the scale be dialed back and have a satisfactory conclusion than have a rushed, jumbled conclusion that hits all the plot points the crew wanted to include.
and i get it. seeing your brainchild, your baby, your beloved story you've been thinking about for years get dragged because of corporate decisions outside of your control SUCKS. it must hurt like hell. and the crew, especially dana terrace, has my full sympathy. but unfortunately, if you wanna still make a good story within those constraints, you have to cut a lot. you need to dedicate time to the most important pieces, you have to change things you were absolutely in love with. the story still needs to be good.
woof, sorry about the tangent there. back to the collector
i'm convinced the show is going to redeem him. like i said, there's tons of sympathy points, and with the way the show is snowballing through plot developments, it won't surprise me if the ending has the collector "turn good" or "get adopted by eda" or something. i think that's a crappy ending, but whatever.
the collector is luz's narrative foil. he's a being that treats the boiling isles like his playthings, like how luz did at the start of the show. luz was self assured, but also kind of selfish. she treated the boiling isle's and the people inside of it like her escapist fantasy, like playthings. OF COURSE she's no where near as bad as the collector or anything like that, that's not what i'm trying to say. luz grows as a person and learns to take responsibility (though a little too much, ha, that's luz's can of worms) and treat the boiling isles as her home, not just some place to stay during the summer and on weekends when real life gets hard.
it makes sense for the collector to be redeemed. hell, my prediction for the finale is for luz (and king) to talk to the collector, sympathize with him, but then talk him down from his actions, telling him that the people in the boiling isles are people, they're real, not just playthings you can do whatever you want with. treat them like people, and you'll even find friends or family. the PROBLEM is just that there's isnt enough time. this is a good premise, but there isn't enough time to explore it. we have three episodes. THREE!!! that's barely anything! and it doesn't help that the collector has made some pretty bad choices up till now. if/when the collector is redeemed, it'll be ... really unsatisfying.
maybe the show will surprise me though! im holding out hope. as much as i have gripes with how the show's being handled right now, the crew still makes quality stuff. i hope im pleasantly surprised

Keeping Up A-fear-ance's Thoughts
I finished writing this shortly after 3 am after watching the new episode like three times because I simply had too much energy about it and I have so many thoughts because I simply live for clawthornes and also I tried to break it up with more photos this time sorry not sorry if it's a lot ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
YOUNG EDA!! let me just say I am quite a fan of opening with a flashback like we've done here and the last episode
"we have never seen a curse like this before" Lilith you had shit luck picking out curses huh
"cut it out if we have to" goddamn Gwen let'a calm the fuck down a bit.
anyways we've only really seen young Eda as a wild and confident and happy little child so I appreciate seeing this side of her with the anxiety and fear she's feeling here. I love seeing what the curse stuff was like for her as a kid
Gwen: I raised a perfectly fine kid
Me: no you didn't look at her she's got anxiety
Tumblr media
I'm guessing this is their backyard or just some woods behind their house?? wonder if the portal was placed there by another elder family member.
lmao I can't even begin to imagine what small Eda experiencing the human realm was like for the first time
Gwens giving me "I can't accept that my child is disabled/chronically ill/etc." here. y’know the kinda parent that'll put their kid through hell over something they probably will find a way to learn to live with (which Eda did do)
ok that's it I humbly request to know the story behind the fang now (also the noise she made when she put it in was freaking cute)
new dress! new boots! new dress! new boots!
Tumblr media
..yikes that fridge is empty
"calm down the curse acts stronger when you're stressed" Eda do you know who you're talking to here
confirmation losing limbs is in fact a side effect of the curse!! (y'know since Eda originally said it just happens when you get older)
please I love these sisters they're so sweet and make me wanna go 🥺
"suddenly curious about my past" "always. always curious" Luz says exactly what we all think
witchlet?? sweet flea?? she's got pet names for them 🥺 (although idk how much I'd like to be referred to as any kind of flea sorry Lilith)
ok Gwen is very much not close to what I expected and I'm kinda grateful for that
she's more like super caring but still managed to royally fuck up which was my original head canon for clawthorne parents so uh that's cool. but literally, look at their body language, Eda's pissed, Lilith's sad and making herself small. she's clearly messed up with her parenting on both of them along the way.
Tumblr media
"who knows what they put in those nasty concoctions?" mama clawthorne would be a fucking anti-vaxxer wouldn't she
ok I side with Eda here more than Luz and Lilith. just because Luz misses her mother, or Lilith hasn’t seen their mom in so long doesn’t mean Eda has to feel all grateful for the presence of Gwen, especially if the woman has caused her a lot of trouble over the years
I feel like the fact that its actually both Lilith and Gwendolyn have spent their whole lives dedicated to trying to find a cure could probably have held some kind of weight on Eda at some point. Even though she shouldn't feel guilty or responsible for that, I still feel like it's gotta suck knowing these people have spent so much time on something you know is likely never gonna happen, all for you.
Lilith 😞 her mother really just didn't pay attention to her all these years
hey if this guy does some next level healing magic then why isn't he more well-known, huh? why’d it take so long to come across him?? Gwen do you know what the fuck you're doing cause I think you don't
Lilith just because you're depressed about your mom doesn't mean you have to bring king down too 😠
SUPER irrelevant but is anyone else just bothered by the way Lilith is holding her spoon?? that doesn't seem like a comfortable way to hold a spoon. also is she left handed??
Tumblr media
"knife season came early" EDA WHAT DOES THAT MEAN. is this a boiling isles things or is this a it’s common for people to throw knives at you thing
also I want to be surprised Eda fell for the apple blood signs but I am not 😔
Luz please trust you're gut on this one and not mama clawthorne
ok now I need to know why the fridge was empty but they had 18 cartons of ice cream this is why you guys don't have food you're wasting it all on ice cream.
Tumblr media
wow never thought I'd see the day hooty became the voice of reason
also, night market ice cream?? are they implying this ice cream is like, edibles of some sort?? Lilith does seem kinda high here ngl. idk man but at least she wants to stand up for herself so good for her.
PLEASE kings just offering her ice cream while she transforms
"first in a series" Gwen honey oh no. you've been duped. I think we can see where Lilith got her naïveté from huh.
Also, nice snatch Luz 😊
anyways love how this show is basically making fun of moms who refuse to give their kids proper medical treatment or listen to medical professionals here
EXCUSE ME why do we know Gwen's palisman's name before we know Lilith's?????
"I am a mother who'll do anything for her daughter" you're mom who's suffocating obsession with one daughter has left the other neglected and is currently causing her to turn into a full on beast ya dummy
Eda DOES have a right to be upset. it sucks that her own valid emotions that she should get to feel will cause her while body to betray her.
PLEASE I’M SO GLAD LILITH’S BEAST DESIGN LOOKS LIKE HER AND IS NOT THE THING FROM THE TRAILER THAT IS ACTUALLY IN EDA"S HEAD WHEN SHE’S TRANSFORMED
but also why is she SO massive?? also anyone concerned that this is her first transformation and the light glyph trick wouldn't even work??
Tumblr media
Gwen look at what you've done, you've fostered feelings of inferiority in one daughter causing her to feel the need for sibling rivalry that the pure instincts of the raven beast cannot suppress no matter how much their sisterly relationship had improved.
HOW COULD YOUR OTHER DAUGHTER ALSO BEING CURSED BE A PART OF THE PROCESS GWEN??
"after Eda was cursed, I joined the beast keeping coven" woah woah WOAH. you're telling me you only joined because of trying to help Eda. that covens existed, before Eda got cursed, and you very much weren't a part of one. combine that with "some words for belos" she has and do I smell wild witch theory still plausible???
anyways at least mama clawthorne is getting some sense into her head here
Morton c'mon help a girl out, that's some dang good art too what the heck dude
ok fine mama clawthorne to the rescue
no pls not raven beast Lilith crying im crying now
Gwen: I raised a fine and self-sufficient child
Me: no you didn't look at her. she's got, SO MUCH.
Tumblr media
GODDAMN THATS SOME POWER. ngl this only adds fuel to the fire in my head that there was some kinda reasoning these sisters were torn apart, that someone felt they'd be too powerful together (and they were probably right)
Tumblr media
"I heard you but I couldn't stop myself, I couldn't do anything" may be just because she's not used to the curse but again part of me is concerned that because she couldn't pull herself out of it even a little bit like Eda did that there's something wrong there. but she also could've been stressed beyond reasonably calming herself down too.
ok but this is sweet
Tumblr media
NOOO im so sad Lilith's leaving :( I literally cried ok
"you lived here?" fine OKAY king that was hilarious even if im sad about this
"reconnect with dad" excuse me where the fuck has this man been in the middle of all of this. curse shit is going DOWN and he's just chilling at home.
I am curious about people's thoughts regarding the whole Lilith regression thing and the fact that she's literally going to be living with her parents again. I feel like it could help nurture that inner child she's been reverting back to and help her out a LOT. but I could also be concerned about it feeding into the regression and making it worse?? idk and this show probably ain't getting that actually deep into psych anyways
"some day my hair is gonna be big enough to do that too" Luz I cannot wait for the day. also mood, I wish I could do that too.
alright who's holding the fucking pen for hooty we need a volunteer RIGHT NOW so we can remain in contact with Lulu
NOT THE ONLY HUMAN? my bets on the real azura rip never mind she said he
Titan’s Blood?? interesting. If the blood of the titan is around I wonder what that means regarding the titans existence, and how long its been since the titan fell.
AHH BABY LUZ PHOTO
Tumblr media
ALSO WHO THE FUCK IS THAT?? They're really gonna spring that on us like this??? Camila's gotta notice somethings wrong right??? Unless any differences she just chalks up to the camp?? oh god :(
well, anyways lumity shippers come get yo juice next weekend
anyways im gonna need to add a NOT canon compliant tag on that one Gwendolyn fic I wrote because it definitely do not comply anymore

💕🎥 deltarune or the owl house or both, your pick
can i do both? ill do both :)
the owl house
💕 so uh. lets talk about our idiot blondie for a sec, because i love him so much (kinnie moment) hes so fucking DUMB and so complex and like. probably a clone. but he has so much trauma for being just 16 (mood) and i think his whole storyline so far is super interesting and him and belos are an interesting parallel to luz and eda because of the whole bringing in a non magic person who wants to be a witch and doing stuff with that and showing an abusive parent in a different way than amitys family situation and aaaaahh hes a lot
now i wanna talk about our under rated baby boy king. idk why im so attached to the idiot brother type that has so much trauma underneath their base personalities but fuck dude king just hits so different tbh. his whole storyline about finding his dad but not worrying too much overall since he has a family in eda and luz??? wow cant handle this man im going to Cry
also one day i will talk about how much i absolutely adore eda but im also gonna talk about ut/dr so ill do that later
🎥 still not over the grom dance in the year of our lord 2021. the whole dance is so well animated and the representation it began to bring in for lumity?? wow i cannot even its just so well done. i also love the scene where eda and lilith are fighting in the season 1 finale? like before she fully turns into the owl beast goes insane. oh! and all of the hunting palisman episode and then the amity and hunter fight for the same reasons as the eda lilith fight because animation my absolute beloved
deltarune
💕 kris is an infinitely interesting character to me not only because they kinda destroy the trope of only nonbinary representation being inhuman but theyre also so much more than that. i know we’ve talked about this a lot because deltarune our beloved but them being the only human in a town full of monsters, feeling isolated because theyre again. THE ONLY HUMAN. being overshadowed by their brother but seemingly not minding it too much since they really care about asriel. the entire thing about them and spamton feeling like a puppet. honestly take the freedom motif from world revolving and dialtone because id honestly say thats kris’s motif since they desire freedom from being the souls (and players) puppet. constantly im thinking about them. they will be a boss i am predicting it now and putting it in text so when it does happen i can be like wow! i called it! Oh My God Kris No
🎥 throws a fit everytime queen is on screen in chapter 2. also susie in general shes perfect and her relationship with noelle and how its playing out is perfection. all of the secret boss stuff also, jevil was hard as shit and very frustrating at times but i also enjoyed the fight because i love difficult battles in games like this where im ok at the battle mechanics and need more of a challenge. same with specifically snowgrave spamton because hes harder when its just you as opposed to when its the full team imo. i like difficult fights thats why in ut i do the genocide route to fight [redacted boss] and sans theyre both so weirdly fun to fight it sparks joy

Okay so I have many thought about this new Owl House video and I wanna write them down mostly for me but also to keep my mind off of literally everything else. This is gonna be long so incoherent ramblings under the cut
Okay so for starters, and these r just trivial things that don’t really matter but my brain is goin. How is Luz charging her phone? she used to have the portal door and could get wifi like that but now the door is busted so?? Also is she actually sending her mom the videos? It’s clearly not the first time she’s filmed one but is she sending them to Camila?
Anyway let me go in order. So we see Lilith flying around with Luz and King, not wearing the clothes she wears in the new intro and in the poster she’s kinda to the side. My guess is at some point she splits off from the Owl House gang but clearly spends a good amount of time with them. It also means her staff works too and hopefully we’ll see more of her palisman. Also also, Luz is wearing the cloak! Not super important but it’s there.
We also see Amity is all better now and she and Luz are back at what looks like the library, hopefully we’ll see more gay panic and them bein dorks. They also hold hands at some point and it looks like Amity is the one who reaches out for her which, that’s some development right there.
Now, there’s a silhouette of what looks like a big ol beast with feathers and we also see Lilith later on and she’s transforming like when Eda would last season. I think the new bird beast is Lilith and she’ll end up leaving the gang to go out on her own and either learn to control it or out of shame. This would also give her a reason to change her wardrobe if she’s livin in the streets on her own.
We also see the one guy with the mask. I think they confirmed he was a spy? His staff is a lot like Belos’ and I think from the one shot of Emperor Belos like. Transforming too and the fact that the trailer ends with him having longer hair he probably has a similar curse to the Clawthorne sisters, which if he himself can’t cure it’s no wonder he never actually helped Eda and Lilith. Apart from him being a dick.
And Gus!! He looks a bit older so the “Gus has a growth spurt” from the AMA Dana did was true.
Also back to Camila for a sec, she seems to have cut her hair cuz her bun is gone which, yeah go off sis. But also the background of her shot has a bunch of like. Notes and a key?? and like. She’s clearly looking for Luz. Which reminds me of the Grom night episode where we see someone was sending Camila letters as Luz (the person writing them misspelled Luz and also put a dash through the Z which Luz doesn’t do) so I have no doubt that’ll come back into play.
We also see Luz dressed as a pirate? So hopefully the Hexside kids get a pirate episode or something. Luz also uses a different spell in that shot I think.
Also uhh the explosion in the shot of the Boiling Isles is a little worrisome. Also the bleeding statues r dope. I’m glad this season is supposed to be a bit darker.
And there’s a bard! The person with the short green hair has a fiddle so hopefully we finally get a good idea about how bard magic works. I have a feeling too they were probably classmates with the sisters.
Amity has a Staff pass for something and we see her mom being a girlboss and showing off some weapon (I’m guessing the abomination robot thing is a Blight Industries thing too and it’s like a convention and that’s what Amity is attending) Honestly I thought Odalia would be different. Idk how to put it. More milfy? Idk anyways speaking of MOMS
I. That HAS to be Momma Clawthorne right? like COME ON! The hair, the flair, the Big Ass Bird palisman?? We also see Eda and Lilith like. Taking lessons? My guess is they call in their mom or she goes to them to help them with the whole can’t do magic the same anymore issue.
We also see what I think are the current heads of each main track and I’m lovin the designs. Also where is King. Why is he in The Void. They better not hurt the little guy. And Hooty is portable now?? How does that work and can he only be contained in house shaped containers? I love that his little house box has a little heart on it. I’m excited to see him and Lilith interact tho.
Also Young Adult Eda is uhhhh. WOW yeah okay ma’am go off. And she had shorter hair at some point? Idk but if the shadow we see when she’s hiding behind a door is her mother there’s gonna be conflict with parents which seems to be a recurring theme.
Luz also uses plant magic so hopefully Willow is teaching her cuz also she wasn’t holding one of her papers???
One thing that is bothering me though is Belos. Not like. Belos himself but the timeline. He supposedly got rid of wild magic right? Eda mentions to Luz nobody has used the old ways in forever and everyone acts like all of that happened centuries ago, but if I remember correctly Kikimora mentions in the tour when Luz sneaks in that it only happened like 50 years ago. I probably misheard or am misremembering but that seems very odd. That or it was very very recent and like. Momma Clawthorne knows the old ways of doing magic and that’s what she’s teaching the sisters.
Anyway that’s all I’ve got so far. Not exactly an analysis or anything just wanna write down what’s in my head.
