hi hi hi. I’m new in the fanfic side of tumblr and this is my first fic and it’s based on the new Taylor Swift song “Is it over now” ^^. I really hope you guys like this! also english is NOT my first language so if I made any mistakes I’m so sorry. Enjoy! Also if anyone knows how to enable the request thing pls, pls show me😭
It was the night. Tonight Nicole’s throwing her madly known summer batch. Absolutely everyone was going. You were getting ready with Belly at the Fisher’s. You’ve always loved them, the Fisher’s. You loved that house and you also loved Conrad Fisher.
He, for you, is everything that’s right. You and Conrad have always been close. He is the one you went to when everything was wrong and he always found a way to make everything right. Now here you were getting ready with Belly. You were almost done when both of you heard a knock on the door. It was Jeremiah.
“Are you guys almost done? You guys always take wayy too much time getting ready.”
After that Steven chimes in and says jokingly “Right! And for. What is not like you guys are getting any tonight”. Belly shoves him to the side and rolls her eyes “Shut up Steven, if anything you’re the one not getting any tonight”.
She points to his shoes. His shoes had a drawing of Homer Simpson on them. “What? The Simpson are so in right now” You laugh at the scenery, but you can’t help but wonder where Conrad is.
“Steven, have you seen Conrad?” You ask.
“Um, he was downstairs just a bit ago.”
“Oh.” you said.
You couldn’t help noticing the way Belly’s head turned when you mentioned Conrad. “I've got to, um get my hairbrush i think i left it in the living room, i'll be right back” you said standing up and getting out of the door. Belly’s eyes following your body as you close the door behind you.
Once you’re downstairs you see Conrad. He has his feet in the pool and he’s smoking. A habit he’s been feeding into way too much in your opinion. You walk out and sit next to him.
“Hey.”
You said. You and Conrad were always so different. You were this combination that just worked perfectly. But this summer it has been so different.
“Hey.” he says back. Not trying to continue the conversation.
“So.. are you going to Nicole's thing, you know with us?” You said turning your face to face his side profile. He looked so beautiful. His blue eyes shining as the moon reflected on them.
“Yeah, just for a bit though” The last part made you curious. Conrad Fisher was someone who couldn’t resist a hell of a good party and for some reason this summer he was so out of touch with everyone and everything, and you’d be lying if you said that it didn’t hurt you the way he’s been brushing you and everyone he loves, away.
“Well, I don't think you should leave the party early.” You turned your body to the front and looked up to the moon. It was a full moon tonight. As you were looking up, Conrad was staring at you the whole time. His eyes focused on the way your lips looked so good with that maroon lipstick you had on. How that eyeshadow that you were wearing made your eyes pop up. In his eyes, you looked like the moon.
“You know I read somewhere that on full moon days, you have 63% to meet your soulmate.” As you said that, you turned to look back at him and noticed how he was staring at you. His lips formed a half smirk.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah!” You said chuckling and the two of you laughed when you heard someone walking into you guys direction. It was Belly. She looked at you and Conrad together and took a heavy breath.
“We’re leaving so..” Conrad took his feet out of the pool and put on his sandals and without even turning to you, he followed Belly out. It was always like this with Conrad, some days you and him would have a connection but then he was reminded that belly existed.
All of you guys arrived, the place was absolutely packed. Quickly you guys separated. Belly was with Nicole and her friends and you tagged along since, you really didn't know anyone from this scene.
All the time your eyes scanned the room for Conrad. You saw him. He was with a brunette girl with dark brown eyes. She was wearing a green dress with some very cute sandals. In a way the girl he was talking to, reminded you of Belly. In your head you surmised that since she looks so much like Belly he would probably date her.
To get your head off him, you started talking to this guy, you couldn’t even remember his name all you knew was that both of you were in a very intense make out session and that you could definitely taste straight up tequila in his mouth. You opened your eyes and Conrad was looking at you as he took a sip of his beer. He quickly looked away, and that’s it. You couldn’t keep your tongue down this random dude's throat. You stopped him and told him that you were going to the bathroom. You cleaned the smushed lipstick from the sides of your lips.
You knew Conrad and you were never meant to be. But sometimes you don't understand. Were you the only one who felt the sparks whenever your eyes would lock in crowded rooms? You got out of the bathroom and you decided, since this night was kinda sucking and you couldn’t get your mind off Conrad, to get drunk as fuck.
To help me loosen up. You told yourself.
It was one drink, after another. You were having the time of your life. Dancing and talking to people. You were the best thing at this party. You were dancing to every song that came on. Until you saw something in the corner of your eye.
Conrad and Belly were talking. And usually you wouldn’t give that much thought into it, you knew they’ve known each other since they were babies. But this wasn’t a normal conversation. Conrad was leaning into the wall and Belly was laughing at whatever the hell he was saying. He whispered something in her ear and when he backed up Belly leaned in and kissed him.
Your heart dropped to your stomach. Your mind was traveling to so many places you didn’t even know what to do. You were sweaty, and drunk and now completely heartbroken. You passed in front of them. You made eye contact with both of them.
“Fuck you.” You said to Conrad.
And to Belly, you couldn’t even say anything. It was like the words just got stuck on your throat and couldn’t get out of there. So you just looked at her and got the hell out of there. You didn’t have a ride. So, you went to the beach and sat on the sand.
You hated that the only thought you had was to get in the water and scream and drown just to see Conrad running and say the one thing you’ve been wanting. Which was that he loved you.
But he didn’t. So you sat there. And sunk your feet in the sand and didn’t call anyone. Not your mother, or any friend. Just you and the ocean thinking. It 's over now.

what do you dislike about jeremiah?
okay anon, prepare yourself. this is possibly the most complicated and loaded question I've been asked lol. so buckle your seatbelts. as a little disclaimer before I get to my answer, I just want to say this is my own personal opinion and I'm not trying to shit on the character, but I'm about to be completely honest about what I didn't personally like about him. so like I said. buckle up.
I don't know where to start so I'm sorry in advance if this becomes a jumbled mess. I guess I'll start with the show and then talk about the book. Obviously, we've discussed the fireworks scene on this blog and how that was not a good look for Jeremiah and a big turn-off moment for a lot of people. I just felt like he kind of acted like a child in that moment. Everyone is saying Conrad can't handle his emotions but Jeremiah couldn't handle his jealousy of Conrad having Belly and had to shoot a firework at them and then he was scheming and plotting to send Conrad away with Nicole for a weekend for that random music festival (what even was the point of that??? no one ever mentioned it again after that episode and it didn't seem like they ever went). The fireworks thing was not the moment that got me when it comes to Jere though (and I haven't seen anyone else mention this at all) but it was when Belly and Steven's dad and his girlfriend Victoria came for the 4th of July and at first I was like okay the boys are all just joking and having fun during the scene where they were watching from the door and Jeremiah commented on how she's "hot" or something along those lines. But then they showed him later by the pool flirting hard with her! And even when she was making the margaritas with them he was looking at her all flirty. Idk why but that really put me off him. I get that his whole thing is he flirts with everyone but that was too much for me; the audacity to get his flirt on with her in front of everyone, where Belly could see...by the time I got to the firework scene and then the pool scene the next night when he confesses his feelings for Belly I was like boy how are you going to tell her you've always really liked her and you've been waiting for her when last night you were all over her potentially future stepmom.
Everyone is like "oh Jeremiah is this adorable little golden retriever who flirts with everyone and that's so cute!" but I personally don't think it's cute. I just feel like those kinds of guys always end up leading people on and hurting people because they flirt in a way that gives the other person hope and it's not really clear whether they're attracted or just having fun. I've definitely been mislead and hurt by guys like that before and probably will again bc it's so much fun and you get carried away until you realize you're not special at all to the guy, they just flirt with everyone like that. And honestly why would anyone want Belly to be with someone who flirts with her the same way he flirts with everyone else? And it seemed Jeremiah did lead people on. The guy from the party wasn't that big of a deal bc it seemed like a one night stand thing but GiGi seemed to think Jeremiah liked her and he just let her think that! There's a scene at the snack bar where Jere is talking to Steven, and Dara and GiGi walk up and flirt with him and Steven is like "what was that all about" and Jeremiah just brushes it off like "oh yeah they're just annoying needy girls and GiGi just wants a boyfriend" and I was just like is he serious? He's just sitting there playing with their feelings like it's nothing. You could tell GiGi liked him cause she kept trying to pursue him the whole season and asking Belly about him, and Jeremiah flirted with her at the parties and at the pool and she seemed kind of hurt when they talked about him hooking up with Belly and being her escort and Jeremiah never cared that he led her on. It's just not cute to play with people's emotions like that and idk if I'm just being crazy bc no one else has picked up on that detail. Everyone is going crazy about the Nicole thing with Conrad but at least you could see he felt really bad/guilty and he apologized. Jeremiah never even realized he was leading anyone on enough to feel bad about it/apologize.
I understood that Jeremiah was kinda embarrassed and his feelings were hurt at the volleyball game but he kind of acted like a little kid throwing a tantrum about it in a way. It's perfectly valid to be upset/jealous or feel whatever he felt but it seemed like anytime he was upset or hurt he felt the need to take it out on everyone else, especially Conrad. The fact that he chose to sit on the couch and pout and play video games alone instead of going to the party (that Belly wasn't even going to be at!) just didn't make sense to me. it also felt a lil out of character for him since he's supposed to be all about having fun and I felt like Jere would never miss a party especially if he was having a bad day. The shot of him glaring at the trophy in the living room got me. Like bro calm down, it was just a charity game and really not a big deal. And it's not Belly and Conrad's fault they're in love. you can't control your feelings for people. I also didn't like the way he teamed up with Taylor to scheme his way into forcing himself on Belly (i don't mean that in a sexual way lol just metaphorically forcing his love on her) and winning her over. My dude knows damn well Belly loves Conrad and saw that Conrad also loves her but still thinks it's a good idea to get in the middle of that and confuse her. The actual volleyball game got me too. Belly literally said 537 times that she wanted to win so she could raise the most money (it's not specifically mentioned but it's probably bc she doesn't come from a family with a lot of money to be throwing around and donating) so it really annoyed me that Jeremiah decided it was all about just having fun with her bc he thought that's what would make her fall in love with him cause I guess he didn't understand why winning was so important to her. And then he was sooo mad/upset about the fact that she subbed Conrad in and Conrad understood exactly what she wanted and took it seriously so she could win. Conrad focused on what Belly wanted and Jeremiah focused on what he wanted (to have Belly choose him). He acted so shocked and I was just like dude did you really not hear/forget all 537 times she said she wanted to win??? I didn't get why he couldn't just be happy for them winning and the fact that she was happy- even if you're upset/jealous fake it til you make it!
Another thing in the show that I hadn't noticed in the books is that they show you Conrad with Nicole and you get to see how he is with her, and they show Jeremiah flirting with all these different people so you also get to see him interacting romantically with other people. And I felt like Jeremiah was pretty much the same with Belly as he was with any of the other people he flirted with, there wasn't really a big difference to me, it was like he treated her the same as he treats everyone else. And yeah, he was nice to her and made her feel special and seen. But it seemed like he made everyone he talked to feel like that, which isn't very special. But Conrad is different with Belly than with anyone else in a good way. There's a part of Conrad that only Belly knows and gets to see and he is the best version of himself with her, like you can tell she makes him want to be a better man and to be the best man he can be. Idk that's just so special to me and that's why I can't support Belly with Jeremiah or anyone other than Conrad. Jeremiah should be with someone that makes him want to be the best version of himself too and someone who makes him really want to be open and show the sides of him he doesn't show anyone.
In the books one thing that really put me off Jere, even in the first book was the way he acted the summer Belly brought Taylor to Cousins- he straight up ignored Belly for Taylor, flirted hard with Taylor in front of Belly, used Belly to make Taylor jealous, and both he and Taylor kinda ditched Belly to hang out together and it made Belly feel like shit the whole time. The way he stole her first kiss and never really seemed to feel bad about it/recognize how important it was just got me. And the show implied that this was somewhat canon in the show as well (Belly and Jere have a convo on their way to pick Taylor up from the bus and she teases him about last year and asks whether he thinks Taylor will call him Jeremy again). Obviously the "cheating" thing was a big no moment but I also hated how he covered up the cheating with the engagement and kinda guilted her into getting back together with him and getting married right away, and you could tell she was struggling with the idea the entire time, especially when they were at Susannah's memorial about to tell everyone about the engagement and Belly was trying to stop him...I had secondhand embarrassment. At least have the decency to wait until after the meal instead of blowing things up right when the appetizers arrived. And the fact that it was a day to celebrate Susannah and he made it about the engagement...I would have been fine had he waited until the end of dinner, possibly after dessert was served to tell but omg bro could not read the room. The fact that he spent so long trying to convince himself and Belly that everyone would be so excited had me cringing. And then he was kind of unserious and oblivious about the entire wedding thing the whole time. Didn't realize how sad Belly was about her mom refusing to be involved and didn't realize how pissed she was at him half the time bc she was planning their wedding by herself but Conrad picked up on everything! The other thing that got me was that Conrad was buying groceries and cooking dinner for him and Belly and making her eat healthy food and even though she felt weird about eating his food at first he told her to eat whatever she wants, and it seemed like she didn't really have a lot of money to buy groceries and I kept thinking to myself it would be really nice if Jeremiah showed up for the weekends with some groceries/food for him and Belly since she's stressing about wedding planning without him or maybe pull up with some flowers or something thoughtful, but he never did. And then he has the audacity to be mad that Conrad is helping her. Idk I just felt like for someone who claimed he pays attention to Belly and knows her really well he didn't seem to really know her or notice things about her, but he did notice Conrad and the tension/feelings between Belly and Conrad and spent an awful lot of time making sure Conrad saw him and Belly together. Anyway, i'm sure I could think of way more but I think that sums it up.
in summary, Jeremiah came across selfish and oblivious and I personally don't prefer super flirty guys who flirt with everyone and their mother. Please don't take this post the wrong way bc I do love Jeremiah and he would probably be really fun to be friends with and I think we'd be great friends (I probably wouldn't date him tho lol) but this is just my brutally honest opinion of the things I didn't like about the character because no one has said anything negative about him yet.
