So many things got done today I couldn't possibly list them all, so I won't. What I will do is list a few of my favorites. My new trellis, that I got last year, is finally installed in the kitchen garden. I'm going to grow peas on it. There's no reason a veggie garden can't be pretty right? The giant pile of rotting wooden junk the previous owner left in the backyard is finally cleaned up and the chickens are enjoying the space. As usual they've wasted no time reclaiming it. Last but definitely not least John spent some time with the chainsaw cleaning up the fallen limbs in my Dad's front yard and turning them into a woodpile/noise blocking wall in the front yard. Because I live on a very busy rural highway the noise level is often unreasonable. It just figured that when we finally have the time to work on doing something to block it we are in the middle of a national shutdown. Right now there's so little traffic it's surreal and a little creepy. I almost forgot about #handtooltuesday I had to do a little electrical project before bed and used my Kline lineman's dikes and a couple of screw drivers. I like the Klein drivers, but I LOVE the German Witte insulated driver. When something isn't working you sit down and figure out a way to make it work. I was gifted soap nuts (❤️) and made soap nut laundry soap tea to wash our clothes. I love how zero waste and environmentally friendlier option this was. BUT the tea only lasted a few days and smelled pretty awful. So did our clothes 👎🏻. A few weeks ago I saw a laundry soap product that was powdered but had soap nuts in it. 💡💡💡 today I put this idea into an actual laundry soap. I pulled out my trusty herb blender and blended about 10 soap nuts to powder. I used 2.5 cups of borax and 2.5 cups of washing soda. Mixed my soap nut powder in and added orange essential oil in as well. So far I'm loving the idea that I can make a big batch and the soap nuts won't start to break down. My washer should filter the tiny bits out very easily. I'll keep you posted on how it works. #thismomsdigginit #alwayssomethingtodo
