Two character designs I made a few years ago which are up for sale! As you can see these were from a batch of wolves inspired by Bryan Scary songs.
$ 15 (USD) each! Message me if you'd like to purchase!
A Stab at the Sun: A gloomy wolf with puffs of cloud always following them. They like rainy days so they blend into the backdrop. Optional: A warm scarf to comfort.
[*SOLD*] The Up & Over Stairwell: A conniving wolf with a pattern like wings along their back (or are they real...?). A grim reaper figure with crooked morals. Optional: A vestment collar to cover the scars along their neck.
Please read below if interested in buying! Their original old art is below there as well ::-]
Some notes for buyers:
Please do NOT claim that these designs have been made by you. You are allowed to tweak them if you want, make them furries, go wild! (But I hope that you will retain their original atmosphere, or else, what is the point of buying them?)
To buy one, please give me your email, and I'll send you an invoice with the un-watermarked art attached.
Feel free to upload them to ToyHouse. Credit me as an on-site designer, r3ver1e.
Here is their original art from 2018:

So, I had an ask from Funnbit (I think was their name?) which I planned to answer MULTIPLE DAMN TIMES
but I kept forgetting about it, or just ending up unhappy with the sketches... Until I finally decided to make AND finish Vee :D
Tumblr media
[yappa yappa yappa below ↓↓↓]
Now, the ask was to draw the main 5 as a twisted.... Which I cannot exactly do- BUT I can separately draw each one! +Had some redesign ideas bcuz of how little the mains felt like actual threats...
So sorrgy for not doing your ask exactly how you wanted.. but there's things some artists can and can't do
Anyways- if you like reading or something or idfk what you're doing, then I'll just spill my own ideas for this TVee
I thought about changing her debuff from "Slow" to "Targeted". Basically, when Vee chases a toon -- that toon will have their stealth DRASTICALLY decreased (so bad to the point where twisteds will detect them through walls), making it harder to escape her.... And more troublesome if there's other mains/rares on the floor.
The way Vee decreases stealth, is via her microphone. Due to missing her legs (Finn twinsss yaasssssss), Vee's tail/mic drags across the floor. And we all know what kinds of noises that can make.
(can't decide) Vee would fuck up your SkillCheck bar (making the red-line glitch around/shaking bar/etc), OR make it so you can't see your Inv, HP, stamina, or tapes.
Oh and- she can make every twisted hear EVERY SINGLE SkillCheck miss, no matter how far they are
I feel like this would make her somewhat of a bigger challenge to extractors or solo-runners
Thank you for reading this random rant about Veenus
For that, you get 1 more dumb idea I had with my friend;
Tumblr media
"I think Vee needs one of these"

trying to psych myself up to finally do oc refs by doing fandom-related refs instead: volume 1
wanted to update my yuma from whatever tf this au is so he was a bit more unique... takes inspo from a lot of different things while also trying to be its own sorta thing? which is fitting given the au ;)
bonus chibi now that i'm also figuring out how tf to do chibis lol:

#my art lol#synth v yuma#yuma synthv#synth v#synthv fanart#synthesizer v#vocaloid#vocaloid fanart#YES I KNOW ITS DIFFERENT but at this rate its the umbrella tag. all vsynth shit goes under there just like on main 😔#sorry for the annoyign watermarks i just dont want this to get stolennn/traced it'll b my joker arc. is2g#like thats never happened to me before as far as i know but now that my art is getting 'better' i begin to get scared that it will happen#if my fanart got stolen i'd def sting a little yeah but not hurt AS bad as if someone stole my original shit. THAT would hurt#one of many reasons why i post less personal oc stuffs. although as mentioned above i AM in an oc mood so i wanna draw em maybe...#and stuff like this is a step to develop a PROPER FUCKING REF STYLE bc i SUCKKKK AT MAKING REFS LOL 😭 BUT I SHOULD GIT GUD#i have a few other refs planned for vocaloid au (i guess???) related shit but they're not done yet. this one was also a wip that i just??#impulsively decided to redo & finish bc i wanted to draw but nothing else i was trying to draw came out right. advantages of many wips#i have SOOO many things i could say abt some of the things that went into this redesign but i dont wanna come off as pretentious 😔💔#obviously it was primarily inspired by the vimalion yuma design but. there's moreeee that i can't explain here bc tag limits and im shy#i do think i want to try and be more intentional with my character designs now so i'm seeing how that goes as i redesign some old ocs#man though this kind of stuff makes me remember i used to LOVEE doing this stuff. and now its even crazierr given art improvement#uaurhghh my head is buzzing w/. so many thoughts. THIS ALWAYS FUCKING HAPPENS I GET SO MANY IDEAS WHEN IM BUSY GFD#this is actually from today though unlike some other things i might eventually post. that'll make more sense soon#and fuckkk i forgot the chain necklace thing on the chibi yeah but i couldnt get it to look good. whatever

let me take you guys on a journey. one that will help you understand how annoyingly obsessive and hung up my brain can get......
so here is where our wild goose chase starts. I was going through a 2012 f1 blog's nico tag. it's actually pretty rare for early 2010s blogs to have comprehensive tagging systems so whenever I find one I try to go thru it all. and I come across this v cute nico image (cropped for posterity. payoff will be worth it promise)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
here we have a picture, from 2012, and in classic 2012 fashion there is meme text on it. OP of the original pic deactivated. so I want to find the version without the meme text. pretty easy, just reverse google search right?
Tumblr media
WRONG!
google reverse search is functionally dead and defunct and absolutely dogshit.
ok back to square one. I'm trying to sus out from whatever information I have.
the other meme watermark of f1humour.tumblr.com? deactivated.
Tumblr media
okay 37 notes. maybe I can do something with this.
Tumblr media
tumblr kind of breaks (?) with very old posts. so even if someone tagged it, I can't see it. ok but 14 people liked it!
Tumblr media
of the 14 accounts only 7 actually show, including mine. so what I do is I go through 6 of those blogs, and their public archives because those accounts are all inactive for several YEARS now. and I check their blogs for April 2012.
no luck.
back to the drawing board.
Tumblr media
the meme has a MOTORSPORT.COM watermark.
here's all the information I have: this was posted on April 24th, 2012, which means that's my upper limit on the date this could be taken. Nico got in Mercedes in 2010. So from anywhere between 2010-2012 motorsport images couldve taken this pic.
so, because I was born with excessive intelligence, I think hmmm... let me search the archives of Motorsport Images dot com. surely that is where Motorsport dot com would keep their Images.
two years of a racing driver's pictures means thousands of pictures. okay. let's start from April 2012. unfortch for keen eyed listening, April 2012 was also the Chinese Grand Prix aka Nico's first f1 win.
Tumblr media
why is that relevant? because it means every photographer and their MOTHER took a picture of nico for his first win. over 900+ images.
while I am exhibiting extremely unemployed levels of behavior here, I don't actually have the time and brain capacity to sift through 900 images.
I go back to the original tumblr post. this time I go to the empty reblogs. there's lots!
Tumblr media
but because there's no tags it can't help me. still I go through every one of them because you can see the blog I found the pic from @the-fastest-waffle is listed in the other reblogs even though they clearly had tags!
and I find my silver lining. from @fuckyeahf1drivers's tags
Tumblr media
just this simple. #bahrain #lol
if this picture is from bahrain 2012 it changes everything, as in it narrows my search a shit tonne.
Tumblr media
375 images. This means 1-15 pages and I know the exact picture I'm looking for. I feel like I'm SO close. I can't give up now. gambler mentality 💎
Tumblr media
so I guess what. I go through all 15 goddamn pages. and I DONT FIND IT!!!!!!!!! SCREEEEEECH
now I've lost hope. if it's not from bahrain 2012 then it can be from anywhere from 2010-2012 taken by motorsport.com which is just too big a search. there isn't anything I can narrow it down with. my search is futile.
but I have one tiny little thought bugging my mind. how come motorsport images don't have the motorsport.com watermark... so I consult a fellow archivist @vegasgrandprix on the matter.
Tumblr media
WE AS A SOCIETY NEED TO ADDRESS WHY MOTORSPORT.COM AND MOTORSPORT IMAGES.COM HAVE THE SAME FONT
Tumblr media Tumblr media
finally. finally
I go on motorsport.com
which is actually kind of not super user friendly interface finding their pics if you have excessive intelligence like I do. I go into this knowing if the bahrain 2012 long shot is actually NOT when that picture is from, I'm fucked.
I filter and say a prayer.
and lo and behold.
salvation.
Tumblr media
one person's singular tag of 'bahrain 2012 lol' led me down this spiral, where if it wasn't for that bit of information this would be lost forever because finding the version of the pic without the meme text is otherwise near impossible. google reverse search is no help, and f1 drivers simply get photographed way too much. reblogs + tags with context literally are a holy grail. this is what I imagine archaeologists feel like. so if you ever want someone 12 years after you've posted something to go down finding out, tag your posts accordingly (assuming tumblr survives the next decade)
so why did I do it? why did I spend hours of my life on this? cause it's fun. it's like a mystery and it itches at my skin. many times I'm not successful which is why the times I am feels so rewarding because it feels almost like detective work, finding and refinding something, overturning evidence. and I have a brain that just functions Like This.
and now for the fruit of my labour, if you guys still want to see. the picture I spent hours to find the original version of. sitting proudly at the time of posting at 9 notes 😌😌 here's what goes behind actually finding and archiving 2010s retired f1 drivers online. click below!

okay, so basically, 1.1 came out. and when i mean 1.1 i mean the new nightmare mode that's been released in the game. the that's not my neighbor brainrot is so real
that means, new npcs, new mechanics, and the return of my favourite peach doppelganger. most of them have awesome and banger designs (as they should!!!) (i am looking at you anastacha and steven nightmare counterparts !!) and the others are just . they go so hard oh my go
and then i realised we have this mf. this is supposed to be francis's nightmare counterpart and right now he looks. yeah. at first i was in disbelief since it was so unexpected that he looks like this?? what happened???
he reminds me of twilight and the onward trolls had a child with each other and this guy is the child 😭😭😭 but who cares anyway, it's just an npc design :³ his name is yog sothoth btw ^^
this may be not the first fanart of him bit im glad i made a wee little contribution to the community lol
follow me for more content like this! reblogging is highly appreciated!!

Lallybroch: copyright vs. trademark
An excellent question was asked by our friend @rosfrank in the comments thread to 'The door faces North' post and given the cosmic amount of uninformed bullshit being ventilated for almost ten years in this fandom, I think it's time to answer it once and for all:
Tumblr media
Whenever we are informally talking about 'owning the rights to something', I think it's very important to bear in mind a fundamental distinction between two different categories of ownership rights: copyright and trademark.
The copyright is the most familiar one to many of you. It is what you usually find on those annoying and apparently useless first or last pages of all the printed or digital editions on this planet. Something like this:
Tumblr media
In the US, copyright issues are regulated by the Copyright Act of 1976, as included in Title 17 of the US Code. The US public authority competent for registering and managing copyright is, as predictable, the US Copyright Office.
Perhaps the most seminal US Supreme Court decision, as far as copyright is concerned, is the 1991 Feist Publications, Inc., v. Rural Telephone Service Co. In it, the Court ruled that mere compilations of information or facts (such as, for example, telephone books) are not protected by copyright, according to US law. In other words, the ancient legal concept of 'sweat of the brow' (which simply means the amount of work required to gather and compile those facts/information) is not enough to qualify a work for copyright protection, if no creative effort is added to enhance its content. This is why I have always considered absolutely ridiculous Marple's efforts to watermark public information screenshots: it is useless (to the extent that it legally protects her from nothing) and, as her timelines, a mere compilation of facts (legally ditto). A similar approach is preferred by the UK and also by many Roman law legal systems, such as the French one - just making things clearer, here, by the way.
See how 'Erself is roughly doing, right now, in this department:
Tumblr media
But I am rambling. In my view, Lallybroch, as a pivotal concept used in Diana Gabaldon's books, is protected by the copyright granted to each and every of her books mentioning it, according to the Roman law principle 'accessorium sequitur principale' (the accessory follows the principal). So it will remain protected for at least 70 years since the last of her books mentioning it would have been published under copyright. Unless she chooses to separately protect the entire finished cycle as a whole, once Book Ten (fingers crossed) is published, preferably during our foreseeable lifetimes.
That being said, that goes only for one copyright category: (published) text - you cannot copyright that secret diary in your drawer, LOL. This is why, the current US Copyright Office records concerning Lallybroch look like this:
Tumblr media
Sony Pictures Television Inc owns the copyright to the fictional name Lallybroch in the motion pictures category, as it is the title of the Episode 12, in Season 1 - DG has been handsomely compensated for this, no worries. And someone I have no idea about owns the rights to an original musical score she has written and titled Lallybroch in the music category, since October 2013.
Onwards to the trademark. This is something different and this is all about making your name/concept/idea profitable. It is all about branding it, putting it on a product and selling it under that brand. It includes all the graphic elements and the logo of the brand (accessorium...) - in short, its visual identity to the consumers. In the US, trademark issues are regulated by the 1946 Lanham Act and the public competent authority is the good old US Patent and Trade Office (USPTO).
Right now, the situation for the Lallybroch trademark is as follows:
Tumblr media
So, we see three different trademarks: two of them, owned by Diana Gabaldon, are classified as 'dead' (cancelled and/or abandoned) and the third, Lallybroch Spirits, owned by S's Great Glen Company is pending approval - he will not be able to label any booze bottle Lallybroch Drink Me before permission is granted by the USPTO.
Let's unpack:
Both Lallybroch trademarks formerly owned by Diana Gabaldon were filed at the USPTO on February 21, 2000 and granted on December 12, 2000. The first was aimed at producing 'tartan fabrics for the manufacturer of clothing' and it was abandoned in December 2003:
Tumblr media
The reason is that the owner did not file in any Statement of Use after the trademark was granted. She had three years to do so, and since she chose not to do anything about it, the trademark was deemed abandoned (Stacy K. Smith is the attorney hired by Herself, btw). That means she specifically implied not to intend using it in the future. As such, she may claim NO rights on a now free to use mark:
Tumblr media
The second trademark was aimed at producing 'clothing, namely, t-shirts, dresses and headwear' and also 'jewelry, namely, rings, pins and necklaces'- to cut the story short: OL merchandise - and it was cancelled on March 1st, 2013:
Tumblr media
The reason is that the owner did not file the Section 8 declaration (of continuous use for five years) within the allowed legal timeframe (6 months after the fifth anniversary of the trademark granting renewal). Her trademark federal rights are now deemed canceled (but not her state law and/or common law rights!) and if she wants to ever use that name again, she would have to start the whole process over, bearing in mind the trademark could have been granted to someone else, in the meanwhile (not her case).
And for anyone who might ask, 'Erself does not own any other trademarks whatsoever:
Tumblr media
The other (Doll Lab - LOL for ages) Diana Gabaldon is a pharmacist from Albuquerque, NM. Chill. 🤣🤣🤣
The owner of the copyright to the fictional toponym Lallybroch, as far as published text is concerned, is Diana Galabdon.
The owner of the copyright to the fictional toponym Lallybroch, as far as motion pictures are concerned, is Sony Pictures Television Inc.
The owner of the copyright to the fictional toponym Lallybroch, as a personal work of music, is Mrs. Kelly Ruth Davis, of Pennsylvania, USA.
The owner of the Lallybroch Spirits trademark will be Sam Roland Heughan, when that trademark is granted by the USPTO.
I hope this answers your question, @rosfrank. Thank you for asking.

I, a very white and somewhat privileged person, am absolutely terrified to draw colored people. Because I don’t know if I’d cross the thin line of tasteful and authentic or racist and stereotypical…
Lol for starters don't refer to us as coloured people. This ain't 1955. Secondly my best advice to you is to use references of actual people of color. I would highly recommend staying away from those white men art station youtuber type artists for tutorials because they get a majority of their techniques and style from main stream video games and comic books, which to put it nicely don't have the best reputation for representing women and poc. tangent over, so yeah references. real life photographs of brown and black people.
pinterest is a site that a lot of current, especially younger artists like to use, but in all honesty it's not a very good source for someone trying to learn the fundamentals. it'll mainly show you 20 something year old ig and twitter models which is okay if you wanna just draw pretty people; but not the best if you wanna like I said learn fundamentals + have a portfolio that's varied. also it's rife with ai shit and stolen art, so yeah would only recommend that as an initial starting point/using it to make your own personal board for your saved images.
stock photo sites are my go to for refs. getty images, istock, alamy, etc. a simple right click save image or screenshot will work to get the images you want for free. of course there will be the watermarks, but they're honestly a very small issue to bypass. as long as they're not opaque and nearly covering the entire subject; you're good. a nice thing about stock photo sites is they usually give you the option to filter the image search results. say for instance you want to draw an elderly asian woman cooking or a young black man painting a picture or an indigenous child playing with dolls. you can look up certain terms you want in the search bar & specify gender, age and ethnicity to narrow down your search to what you want.
Tumblr media
another awesome place for references i discovered during college is posespace.com
Tumblr media
like with getty images, it gives you the option to filter your searches. they also have their models in clothed or nude shoots in the event that you want to practice some bare bones anatomy.
also also, get your info from artists of color. there's a decent amount of tutorials ive found over the years on here and youtube on coloring skintones, drawing certain hair types, how to avoid caricatures and stereotyping, different facial features, cultural hairstyles. the list goes on. don't be afraid to depict people outside of your race. literally just go about drawing us the same way you would a white person. don't be scared, as long as you remain respectful and make an honest effort to learn; you'll do fine.
resource links by and from artists of color:
'how i draw south + southeast asian people'
an example of what to avoid when stylizing east asian characters
'drawing asian people, source: i'm asian'
'lessons from drawing I: what is asian anyways?'
'how to draw indians'
'how to draw arabs'
'How I draw skin Part 2: DON”T DRAW NATIVE PEOPLE WITH RED SKIN!!!! A tutorial' (the link to the first part of this tutorial is broken sorry)
How to Draw Native People: a Tutorial/Reference Guide
How to Draw Black People by peachdeluxe
tips for drawing black people by rosheruu
drawing east asian faces by chuwenjie
how to draw black people series by Artistik Freedom (youtube)
✏️How I draw black hairstyles (simple) 🌱 by Likelihood Art (youtube)
there's also a bunch of black and brown artists on twitter and tiktok, so checking those sites for tutorials would be a good additional resource
good luck on your illustrating melanin endeavors 👍🏾

If you have an idea for something not listed here, please ask!
Backgrounds
I have recently changed my tune about backgrounds. If you would like a background, let me know and i will tell you if i think im up to it. Complex backgrounds are a fee of +%50 as they take a lot of time. If you have multiple characters, the background price is calculated AFTER the price of the additional characters. It is up to me to decide what a complex background is.
Simple/abstract backgrounds remain free of charge. If i think a work would benefit from it, i will put a solid or swirly colored shape behind it and send you a version with and without the background so you can decide which you like better. You may request a basic background on your own.
TOS:
I retain the right to post your completed piece to any of my social medias to use as an example of my work and a testament to my reliability. I will credit you when I do.
All payments are non-refundable unless for some reason i am unable to finish your piece, or we get part way through the process and i feel that i am unable to do your character(s) justice.
You MAY:
Post your completed piece wherever you please WITH appropriate credit by either linking my page or simply stating my name and platform.
edit my art in regards to cropping for profile pictures, adding an overlay to fit a theme, and resizing to fit a platform better
You may NOT:
feed my hard work to ai
use it for anything NFT related
claim it as your own
remove my watermarks
use it commercially
What is the process?
It's pretty simple! Send me a dm with a photo of your character(s) and tell me what you'd like. Let me know if you need a few days to get the money, or if there's a time constraint (like if the piece is a birthday or holiday gift). If you don't have an idea for a pose, please include a brief description of their personality. If there's characters interacting, let me know their relationship to one another and their dynamic.
I will respond with a price and if you're ok with proceeding I will mock up a vague sketch so you can get an idea of what it would look like. This will be watermarked and it will not even be very recognizable as your character. That's because I have been scammed and ghosted in the past, even with a very rough and watermarked sketch.
After that you will send 100% of the payment in order for me to proceed. Do not send payment via friends and family. I don't want to be banned from paypal lol
I work on a first come first serve basis, but i may work on a piece while waiting for approval on another. I will let you know if there is someone ahead of you. Once payment is received i will message you frequently with updates and for approval. Once lineart is finalized, i will update less often in order to creater a better final reveal. Your final piece will already be glazed to fight against ai stealing my style.
Depending on my life circumstances, this whole process could take from 1-3 days up to a month. The later is very unlikely, and i will message you with updates if i feel i am taking too long.
Examples of my work:
These are simply commissions that ive done in the past! I have many more examples of personal art on my blog

I'm broke and so so tired so I have decided to try a little commission thing... limited right now because well depression lol.
Sketch commissions, portait/bust only though I can be persuaded to do waist up. No full body requests at this time.
I am opening three slots for now. Please email me at [email protected] if you're interested.
You can DM me to ask questions but I'd like the actual commission request sent to my email for record keeping reasons.
You will receive a 300 dpi png(other formats available upon request) sketch via email that you can print or have printed as you'd like. Dimensions depend on the sketch but I can easily tailor it to fit an 8×10 or various other sizes if you want.
You will receive a clean copy but if I post it I will attempt to run it through glaze or at least watermark it. <glaze takes a lot of computing power so I can't always get ot to work lol>

any tips on making moodboards? I been trying & am not very good lol
*cracks knuckles* boy oh boy do I have some tips! or more like a walkthrough i guess?
The first step is to find a good app. I've found InShot to be simple to use (for photos, collages, and videos.) It's available on both android and apple, and while there is a paid version [which takes away ads, gives a few bonus filters, and removes the watermark from video files,] I've found it works just as well to use the paid version. It allows for many different layouts and canvas sizes, and up to nine images.
Next, find images! Think about what kind of moodboard you want to make, and think of some things that are iconic for it. For example, a Wonderland themed moodboard might include clocks and mushrooms and teacups, while a Rapunzel themed moodboard might include flower crowns and chalk drawings. I've found the best way to find an image to use is to google "[thing] aesthetic" or "[color] [thing] aesthetic." I've also found it can give the eye a nice break to include textures, like "[color] crochet blanket texture" or "wooden plank texture aesthetic." It gives your moodboards an almost palpable feel when put together properly.
Once you've found all the images you need, compile them into one image using the collage function on the app. Be sure to pick a layout and size you like. A basic 3 by 3 square is typical, but you can expand beyond that! Some layouts might even let you make some images cut off on the diagonal, or make one image larger than another. Also, this isn't insta; there's no law saying your moodboards have to be square- you could even make them the right size for a phone/computer wallpaper! Make sure to use the in-app crop feature to custom crop them so they're focused on exactly the part of the image you want them to be on. It also helps to rearrange images with a little symmetry (balancing similar colors, shapes, or patterns in opposite corners, thematic elements on opposite sides, ext.)
Next, edit each image. Yes, all of them. Yes, individually. No, don't just slap a filter on it. Trust me, this is so worth it! Here's a before and after of a moodboard's editing phase:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Find whatever "adjust" button your application uses (on inshot it just says "adjust)" and then tap the individual image. Play around with the sliders until you get the look you want for it. This is probably the most time-consuming part of the process, but trust me, it's worth it! The unique, custom filtering of each image will make a difference.
I recommend playing around with the sliders until you find the ones you feel most comfortable with. I tend to use sharpen, vignette (VERY sparingly!) hue, saturation, tint (usually just for green or purple moodboards) warmth (especially for red, orange, or blue moodboards,) contrast, and lightness.
Once you've edited all the images in your moodboard, tap "save" to download it.
Now, most people would be finished right now, but not us! One of my top secrets to making moodboards is, once you've made your moodboard, edit the whole entire thing together- again, using the adjust sliders instead of filters. Editing the whole thing at once adds this rich, uniform feel to it, making it one collage instead of a bunch of images. As an example, here's a moodboard I've made, before and after the bonus filtering:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another thing I wanna say: whether you're posting on tumblr, insta, or pinterest (or all three, as I do, because I have too much free time,) you can always add alt text! Accessibility should be the standard, and when you add alt text, blind/vision impaired people who use screenreaders can know what your moodboard's about! If you don't know what to write in the alt text box, click the "alt" button on the above images, and you can read the description I used and base it off that!
Lastly, have fun! If moodboards aren't fun for you, don't feel pressured to make them! If you get a request for one you don't want to make, you're totally cool to deny it. Have a blast, babe!

I've been thinking about this since I answered the ask about gifmaking a little while back, and I've been kind of unsettled about it since. Not because I don't like sharing my process, nothing could be further from the truth, but because I realized that that process isn't entirely accessible. So here I am again with an alternative way to make gifs that's infinitely easier, way more accessible, and just as valid as the other way. I wanna stress that. Anything you put time and effort into is valid and worthwhile. No time spent on doing something you enjoy is ever wasted, not least of all anything creative
That said, this method is considerably more limited. I made gifs this way for years before my brain was quite literally hijacked by an idea I could not get out of my head and I had to learn to do it the fancy way. I was also intensely annoyed at having to rely on my shitty internet to make gifs, and I probably would have made the switch at some point regardless just for that lol
I would also like to stress that this is not necessarily a tutorial any more than the other post was, it's simply a couple of resources and more or less how to use them. Like I said in the other post, never download and install anything to your device without doing your own due diligence first!
details under the cut
So first, you need to get the video. If you're on mobile, your device should have a screen recorder built in. Use that, and be sure to turn on Do Not Disturb so you don't accidentally capture any notifications! Once you've recorded your video, you can use your device's native editing ui to trim and crop the video and adjust color. If you want effects like slow motion, I like Splice on iOS. The big thing is that it doesn't watermark your videos, but it's also just a pretty good app overall for video editing. If you're willing to pay for it, it'll also allow you to make gifs right there in the app, but it's subscription based and the price is absolutely outrageous, so I don't recommend doing that when you could just use a free online converter
Which brings me to the next step: ezgif. You probably know this one, most everyone does, I think, but if you don't, here's the basic gist of it. Select Video to Gif and upload your video there. Be sure to trim it down to seven seconds or less, or else you'll never be able to get it down below 10mb. On the next page, change the size of the gif to 540xAUTO (for Tumblr), then change the frame rate to 20 or 25. More frames means a smoother gif, but it also means a bigger gif, so play around with it to see how the frame rate affects your gif. I don't think there's really a huge difference between 20 and 25, so 20 should be sufficient. If your gif is still too big, you can select optimize and try to compress it a little. The lowest compression level is 5, so start there and go up by fives until you're satisfied. If you get the gif below 10mb and it looks bad, then you should go back and trim your video length down further and try again. After that, simply save the gif to your device and upload it wherever!
PC is more or less the same, you just need to get a third party screen recorder. You can actually use ffmpeg to screen record if you'd like (I don't have the command line for that, however, and at that point, you should just go ahead and use yt-dlp instead to get a high quality video). If the command prompt is too much, you can just use a screen recorder app instead. I like 2-Click Screen Recorder. Again, you can actually use ffmpeg on that video to create frames and then upload those to ezgif, but if you'd still rather go from video to gif, then use CapCut or a similar video editing software to trim down your video to seven seconds or less. From there, the process with ezgif is exactly the same as it is on mobile
And there you have it! Easy mobile gifs! While I do really encourage you to try the "fancy" method of making gifs, this is still a great alternative, and you can make some pretty good gifs this way. Here are some of mine I made this way before I switched:

Ok im tired of reblogging that post lol
Listen, if someone is paid for their work and their work is recognizable enough to be properly credited (such as a dbz episode, which credits the studio and the artists), then that artist' art is being respected. They understand that while their name is not watermarked on every frame, the credit they receive is exactly where they agreed on it to be.
A freelance artist on social media is RARELY recognizable by that sheer number of people or audience. If you want to share their work, you need to make sure that they are okay with that. They do this for free, no studio to protect their rights to their work. They are giving you art to look at for free. If you want to share their art, the least you could do is ask permission and respect their answer, including the lack thereof. If someone does not answer, you should never assume its a yes.
If you can't find a way to credit them, and post it anyway, you are again assuming their answer, link or not.
The thing is, the other user pointed out that this artist not only has a tumblr and twitter, but they linked a post that showed them explicitly asking for people not to repost their work.... which you did. A small "x" link with no context is not proper credit. Their tumblr dms are open. Getting defensive and telling strangers who reblog the post that you're going to kill yourself, and then claiming that the same people are the ones telling you to do that is just. Wildly inappropriate, and huge overreaction to a situation where you could have easily just deleted the post.
The reality is that you simply could have tried harder to get permission, you didn't, and instead of listening to the people telling you how to fix it, you told them you were going to kill yourself, and accused strangers of being ableist when, not only is your neurodivergency none of their business, but they'd tell ANYBODY reposting art without permission to stop doing that.
No one is attacking you for struggling to understand- you're being criticized for doubling down and refusing to learn and fix the problem.
You're not trying at all to be accommodating to my situation. You say the way I credited the artist was not "proper". The parameters for this are undefined. I see art credited this way all the time. I have never posted art on here before, so I did it the way I've seen it done. You accuse me of "not trying hard enough" to get permission. In truth, I did not seek permission at all because I was not aware of any sort of standard of etiquette for this. Their twitter (where I found it) does not link to their tumblr (where they ask not to share art). Some artists mention in their bios not to share their art. Some artists say share with permission. Some artists do not specify their preferences. Given the broad variety of preferences artists have regarding the sharing of their art, how am I to have awareness of some commonly understood protocol for art sharing? As I understood it, sharing without credit is bad, sharing with credit is ok unless otherwise stated by the artist. Now I'm being told you're a monster if you share art with credit or that my crediting is somehow improper (no further questions asked)
Also, I removed the post when I was linked to the artist's statement. But I have since continued to be dogpiled in my notes and asks with all sorts of accusations. My issue is that I'm not being afforded patience to understand the nuances and complexities in how to share art. Even as you answer my questions you're doing so with an attitude and you still fail to clarify vague conditions of what's considered proper etiquette when there are numerous exceptions such that I cannot meaningfully understand the distinctions. Thanks to this, I will never share any art ever again. I guess it's fine for others to do so but not me. Idk

SolidarityGaming “I’m Still Standing” MAP Call!!
This is a MAP I am hosting to celebrate Jimmy hitting 1Mil subs. (Please don’t flop-)
(Details below)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alright so this MAPs theme is basically centered around the fact that despite how canonically the Watchers always kill Jimmy off first, he’s always smiling and having fun. As shown in my video/MAP call, the design changes depending where the songs at. Basically what it means is that at the beginning it should feature Jimmy in Third-Last Life. Then when the design changes again, that’s where it goes into Double Life. That’s the design you are to use for that section of the MAP. Same thing for when it changes again to his Bad Boys skin near the end. It should feature Jimmy in Limited Life by then.
Rules below:
1: Please use the designs I have given above. (Though if you need to simple it down for animation purposes, go right ahead.)
2: Do not trace or steal other peoples art obviously.
3: Follow the themes I have listed above.
4: Let’s make sure to get this completed in 3-4 weeks.
5: Keep it Jimmy centered obviously. You can still include others, but remember this MAP is basically Jimmy saying “f you” to the Watchers lol.
6: Keep it SFW obviously.
7: Collabs are allowed as long as you discuss with me first.
8: Do not add a watermark. I will do it myself.
9: To request to join this MAP, join the Discord server. (I will try to link it in the comments. If I cannot, I will give my Twitter or Discord and you can message me there.
10: Do not upload your parts anywhere else until the MAP is completed and uploaded. Only send it in the Discord server until then.
11: Keep me updated.
12: Use the life charms. (Reference above.) it should at least be part of his outfit.
13: If you have any questions, just ask me!
I will probably add more rules later, we will see!

still think about that malicious reposter that likely still crawls my blog and Twitter acc for my edits and gifs and compilations to repost on their daily Eggman Twitter acc. the way all the proof was there that they'd see my posts, download all the images from it and schedule them to post exactly a month after at times
and how they denied when I kindly sensibly asked for credit when they were using things I recorded and screenshot right from the games myself, or edited and cropped, or spent hours making into gifs. and it was extremely obvious that they weren't just happening to find them on Google, in the exact same order I'd posted them on my blog because that's not how it works
and I told them it was upsetting that they were heavily running their account on all my hard work and using the account's followers to raise real money on two different occasions. especially because it takes a lot of effort for me to make it all with my disability and the exhaustion and pain just the process of doing what I love can bring but I pour my heart into it anyway just for them to get all the credit and traction
and they just didn't give a shit lol they never consistently credited and when I asked the third time they just ended up blocking me and saying I'm a liar, even though I provided tons of proof that they were straight up all mine posted for days in a row and all were so obviously taken directly from my blog in the orders they were posted in. things I've literally drawn and colored on myself to correct at times too
and they're definitely still doing it to this day to everything that I'm too tired and in pain and fatigued to watermark now but I can't look because I'm blocked. and I told my friend to stop telling me when they do it because it just upsets and stresses me out knowing that someone would disrespect my hard work and leech on it and even raise money using the account while I struggle with money and my disability lol
so yeah I'm not just being an asshole this is genuinely hurtful and disrespectful. and if these people tell you rumors about how horrible I am for wanting credit, they aren't true. especially because they have a lot of people sided with them against me liking them out of spite because they hate me for various reasons that also aren't true
and they can't say this is me harassing because I'm not going to tell you their username anymore. but I know they're reading this and I wish they realized how disrespectful they are and at least apologized if they're not going to give me credit
and what got me thinking about that today is how also my disability also isn't being respected irl as I'm about to be forced into that programme I can't do. and it's like damn it would've been nice if it could've at least been respected online before then but nah couldn't get it there either
