The Milky Way galaxy with its colour and structure is revealed in an exposure of only 20-seconds near one of the lodges in San Pedro de Atacama, Chile. We will be going back here in the middle of May when the Milky Way orientation will look like this by 10pm and after midnight the galactic center will be directly overhead. There are also some large beautiful night sky objects that can't be seen from North America like the Eta Carina Nebula and Large and Small Magellanic clouds. Hey everyone, I'm super excited to announce that @yuribeletsky and I will be hosting an astrophotography workshop this May 18-24 in San Pedro de Atacama, Chile. This is a great opportunity to capture the stunning southern hemisphere Milky Way, under some of the darkest and clearest skies in the world. This trip is for anyone who loves photography, or astronomy, those who are expert astrophotographers, or those who are just curious enthusiasts. We'll take you to some unique places at night for scenic night sky photography and go on some day trips to explore the rugged scenery, flora, and fauna in the region. There will be one-on-one and group instruction on how to take astrophotos for those who would like it. The only thing that I unpacked, after a long travel day to San Pedro in the Atacama Desert, was my camera gear. I quickly headed outside of my lodge to grab some pictures of the Milky Way galactic center just before the moon rise. I just can't get enough of this view in the southern hemisphere 🌟🙆‍♀️ This is a few 30-second frames stacked using the Sigma 15mm fisheye @ f2.8 on the Canon R6 ISO 6400. The first of many photos from my trip to the Atacama Desert in Chile 🏜️🇨🇱. I have never been south of the equator in June (winter) to see the milkyway galactic centre so high in the sky. What an amazing view! This location, like so many locations in Chile, looked like another planet. I was here taking pictures with @alexistrigot and@yuribeletsky. It was a great time even while struggling a bit with heavy camera gear at the 10000ft elevation 🥵 Details: Canon R6 modified, iso 6400, Sigma15mm fisheye @ 2.8, 3 frames vertical panorama.
