{Caffeinate Me}
SEBASTIAN SALLOW had no problems getting someone to agree to going to the Yule Ball with him, he was charming, charismatic, handsome, clever and funny. It wasnât his lack of ability to find someone that was hindering him, but rather his inability to actually ask the person he wanted to go with: you.Â
You were sitting in the Undercroft with him one evening, drinking your classic fire-whisky and chatting about your upcoming exams and how the Yule Ball was a pleasant distraction when Sebastian asked who you were going with. Curiosity glimmered behind his brown eyes as he watched your face twist and turn, a variety of emotions flickering through your expressions. âIâm not going with anyone yet,â you replied with a slight shrug.Â
âWhat do you mean, âyetâ?â Sebastian asked as he raised an eyebrow at your response.Â
âWell, Amit actually asked me-â you started, but Sebastian cut you off.Â
âAmit huh? Thatâs nice,â jealousy bubbled in his chest at the thought of you actually going to the ball with Amit.
âIf you'd be so kind as to let me finish before interrupting me,â you reply with a cough, rolling your eyes. âAmit asked me to go with him, but thereâs someone else I want to go with.âÂ
Sebastian took a large swig of the amber liquid before responding. âSomeone else you want to go with?â For a second, with the way you were looking at him, Sebastian felt some hope swirl through his chest but that was short lived when you replied.Â
âYeah, but I doubt this person would actually want to go with me. I might just agree and go with Amit⌠What do you think?â
âAbsolutely not,â Sebastian shook his head, determined to not let you attend the Yule Ball with Amit. Amit was nice enough, but he couldnât treat you the way Sebastian could. âWho is this other person?âÂ
âItâs nobody,â you mumbled, averting your gaze away from Sebastians.Â
âWhy wouldnât this other person not want to go with you? Youâre smart, beautiful, funny and donât even get me started on your personality!â Sebastian exclaimed, his voice slightly slurred from the fire-whisky. Your eyes widened at his words, a slight pink blush scattered across your cheeks in response. âAnybody would be happy to go with you.âÂ
âYou think so?â you asked Sebastian, playing with the hem of your shirt.Â
âI know so,â Sebastian whispered as he leaned in slightly closer to you. Whether it was the courage he had gained from fire-whisky or his dire need to go to the ball with you, Sebastian finally spoke up. âI donât think you should go to the ball with Amit. In fact, I donât think you should go with anyone.âÂ
Your eyes widened at his words and you visibly frowned at him. âI want to go, Sebastian. Iâm not going to not go just because youâre jealous.âÂ
Sebastian smirked at you, shaking his head. âFirst off, Iâm hardly jealous of Amit. Secondly, Iâm not saying donât go to the Yule Ball Y/N. What Iâm saying is you should go with someone else.â
âAnd who would that be? Because Iâm pretty sure the only person who wants to go with me is Amit.â
âThatâs not true,â he whispered, his voice husky. He leaned in even closer, so-much-so you could feel his breath fanning across your face. âI want to go with you, as more than just friends.âÂ
You blinked rapidly at Sebastian, wanting to make sure you heard him right. âYou? Want to go with me?â Sebastian just nodded, watching as you thought and with every second that you didnât respond to him, Sebastian couldnât help but feel a little dejected. That was until you grinned at him. âIâd love to go with you, Sebastian.âÂ
He was shocked. âReally?âÂ
âReally,â you nodded your head.Â
Sebastian placed his glass of fire-whisky on the stone floor of the Undercroft before cupping your face in his hands gently. He caressed your cheeks with his thumbs before capturing your lips in a soft, gentle kiss. After a few seconds, Sebastian pulled away and rested his forehead against yours. âIâm glad. Iâll pick you up from your common room tomorrow evening, about six?â
âSounds wonderful,â you whispered back to him, your lips tingling from the kiss. You couldnât wait to see what the Yule Ball had in store for you and Sebastian, but whatever it was, you were eager.
OMINIS GAUNT hated the idea of the Yule Ball, after all, socialising with his peers didnât exactly sound like a good time to him. The only reason he was going at all was because you and Sebastian wouldnât stop pressuring him about it. You were sitting next to Ominis in Charms class when you turned to look at him, placing a hand on his shoulder to gain his attention. âWhat is it?â He asked, turning his head to your general direction. He couldnât see you, but he could sense you were staring at him.Â
âWho are you going to the Ball with?â You asked softly, your voice a whisper so as to not disturb the class.Â
âYou and Sebastian?â Ominis replied, his voice sounding more like a confused question than an answer.Â
âI mean whoâs your date?â
âDate?â He asked, raising an eyebrow.Â
âYeah, your date,â you replied as if it was the most obvious question in the world.Â
âI donât have a date,â Ominis replied, swallowing the lump in his throat. Truth be told, he had wanted to ask you to be his date but had disregarded that idea altogether when Sebastian had told him to âdream onâ.Â
âOminis!â You whispered.Â
âWhat?â He replied, his voice a low hiss.Â
âYou need a date!â You responded.
âNo. I donât,â Ominis hissed. Truth be told, if he couldnât go with you then he didnât even want to go. âBesides, who would want to go to a ball with a man like me? Iâm blind, remember?â
âSo?â You asked, furrowing your eyebrows. âWhat does that have to do with anything?âÂ
âWell,â Ominis cleared his throat and sighed. âUsually women like to be complimented on how beautiful they look. I canât see a thing.âÂ
You couldnât help but roll your eyes at Ominis. He was always putting himself down because he couldnât see or compliment someone. âYou compliment me all the time even though you canât see. Just because youâre blind doesnât mean you canât show someone that you care.â
Ominis shrugged his shoulders, his behaviour half-assed as he turned his attention back to the front of the classroom. âIt just comes naturally with you,â he mumbled under his breath, too low for you to hear. You drop the conversation and pay attention to Professor Ronanâs class, all while Ominis thought about asking you to the Yule Ball. He knew that Sebastian had implied that he shouldnât even bother asking, but Ominis couldnât help but think of the possibility you could say yes. Sure he was pessimistic about most things, but he couldnât help but feel a slight sense of optimism when he thought about it.Â
Ominis, as usual, gathered his things after class and took his wand out of his robe ready to make his way back to the Slytherin common room when he felt a hand intertwine with his. âWhat is it, Y/N?â He asked, his voice full of intrigue.Â
âHow did you know it was me?â You asked softly, your eyes widening.Â
âA few reasons,â Ominis replied sheepishly before changing the subject. He didnât want to admit to you that he had memorised the size and shape of your hand in his.
âWho do you want to go to the ball with? Come on, Iâll help you!â You exclaimed, dragging him along the corridors.Â
Ominis let out a sigh and stopped in his footsteps forcing you to be pulled back against his body. You stammered out a quick sorry and put some distance between the two of you as you looked away from him with a faint blush on your cheeks. You were glad, in a way, that Ominis couldnât see your flushed face. âLook, Y/N, Sebastian told me that I shouldnât tell you but I canât hold it in-â
âTell me what?â You asked.Â
Ominis squeezed your hand lightly before running his free hand through his blonde hair, letting out a nervous exhale. âWill you come to the ball with me?â His voice was a whisper, almost as though he didnât want anybody else around the two of you to hear.Â
âAre you, Ominis Gaunt, asking me to the Yule Ball?â You asked, a sly smile appearing on your lips.Â
âI understand, Iâm sorry I-â Ominis stopped his sentence in his tracks as your response and inflections fully registered in his mind. Ominis knew when you were smiling, and he knew when you were about to agree to something. âWait⌠is that a yes?âÂ
âOf course itâs a yes, you idiot!â You exclaimed, squeezing his hand tightly. Ominis used his thumb to rub small, soothing circles on the back of your hand as he let out a breath he never knew he had been holding in. âAlso, you spoke to Sebastian about this?â Ominis nodded his head sheepishly, his milky eyes looking away from your direction as if embarrassed. âOminis you know never to listen to Sebastianâs opinion,â you chuckled, shaking your head in faux disapproval at your friend's judgement.Â
âI know but he really had me convinced this time,â Ominis shrugged in an attempt to defend himself.Â
âIâd be honoured to go to the ball with you Ominis,â you smiled softly before standing on your tiptoes to press a kiss to his cheek. âIâll see you tomorrow evening.â
Ominis felt his face redden at the feel of your lips against his cold cheek, electricity igniting deep within him. He couldnât, in that moment, find it in himself to kiss your lips. The moment he kissed you had to be perfect, and what moment was perfect other than a ball? Â
GARRETH WEASLEY had asked you to the Yule Ball plenty of times during the run-up. In Charms class, in Potions class, hell heâd even come up to you during lunch and make a grand gesture, but each time you would turn him down. Not because you didnât want to go with him, you really did want to be the girl on his arm, but you saw his asking as nothing more than what you thought it was: a joke. He had approached you yet again asking you the same question, if anything the man was persistent. âWill you go to the Yule Ball with me Y/N?â Garreth asked, on one knee as if he was proposing to you.Â
âGarreth Iâve told you a million times, no.â
âWhy not?â He pouted, standing up and looking at you as if he were a lost puppy dog.Â
You pinched the bridge of your nose in frustration. âLook Garreth, youâre a really really sweet guy. You are-â
âIf Iâm so sweet and charming then why wonât you be my date?â He interrupted, causing you to roll your eyes at him.Â
âI never said you were charming, but if you let me finish Iâd tell you why,â you snapped, clearly beyond frustrated with the ginger's antics. âI wonât go to the ball with you because I donât want to be asked out as a joke. I want to go with someone who genuinely wants to go with me.â Garreth stood there looking rather stunned at your admission, and he quickly realised that you thought his hopeless attempts of asking you to be his partner at the Yule Ball was a joke. Before he could say anything in response you turned on your heels and walked away to your next class.Â
That evening, you had snuck out of your common room to go to the astronomy tower. The stars were shining bright and it was certainly a sight to behold. Your mind was swimming with various different thoughts between your exams and the upcoming Yule Ball when suddenly a cough caught your attention. You spun around coming face-to-face with Garreth. He eyed your curiously. âWhatâre you doing out here?â He asked, raising an eyebrow.Â
âNeeded some fresh air,â you replied, leaning against the railing of the astronomy tower.Â
âItâs almost midnight,â Garreth reminded you.Â
âSo?â You asked, shrugging slightly. âWhat are you doing out here?â
âNeeded some fresh air,â he repeated your lines back to you as he stalked over to you. Grinning at him, you rolled your eyes playfully.Â
âWhatâre you really doing out here?â You asked after a few seconds of comfortable silence.Â
âI had a feeling youâd be out of bed,â Garreth replied. âI wanted to speak to you.â
âLook, Garreth, if youâre going to make another joke about us going to the Yule Ball together, save it.â
âThatâs the thing, Iâm not joking,â he said quickly, his hands resting on your shoulders. âI want to go with you.â Â
You cocked your head at him curiously, searching his eyes for any sort of a lie. When you saw none, your mouth hung wide open. âYou want to go with me?âÂ
âYes. More than anything!âÂ
âSo, you werenât joking?âÂ
âMerlin, no. I wasnât joking,â Garreth smiled warmly at you and it sent your heart into a fluttering frenzy. You blinked rapidly at him, batting your eyelashes like a moth flying towards a flame.Â
âI swear to Merlin, Garreth if youâre joking youâll never see the light of day again.âÂ
âIâm not joking,â he chuckled, shaking his head. âWhy did you think I was joking?âÂ
âYou kept making these big, overly affectionate grand gestures. Hell, some people even thought you were proposing to me earlier today because you were on one knee.â
âThatâs my love language,â Garreth replied defensively. âThe time to worry is when Iâm not being overly affectionate and making grand gestures.âÂ
âBesides,â you ignored him and continued talking, the words coming out of your mouth like vomit. âI thought we were just friends.âÂ
Garreth took a step closer to you, resting his hands on your hips. âI want to be more than just friends with you Y/N.âÂ
âY-You do?â You asked, shocked to your core. Garreth continued nodding, his smile widening at your shocked expression.Â
âI want you to come to the ball with me, as my date, not my friend.â Immediately you nodded your head. There was no doubt in your mind that you wanted to go with Garreth, and so you didnât hesitate to answer. You wrapped your arms around Garrethâs neck and pulled him close to you, nuzzling your head against his chest lovingly. It was sweet, the way his heart was beating so fast. âI take it the nodding of your head is a solid yes?â He asked, grinning widely.Â
âYes,â you whispered against his chest. Garreth brought a hand up to stroke your hair.Â
âWear something red,â he said after a few moments of silence.Â
âRed?â You asked, slightly confused.Â
âGryffindor colours,â he replied, confirming your suspicion.Â
âRight,â you nodded your head and pulled away from Garrethâs chest. âI should go back to bed, but I'll see you tomorrow?âÂ
âYou can count on it,â Garreth smirked, pressing a tender kiss to your forehead. You felt your heart flutter in your chest as his lips met your head. You brushed your nose up against his before planting your lips softly on his. Garreth was slightly taken back by your boldness, but accepted the kiss nonetheless, eagerly kissing you back. When you pulled away, Garreth was breathless, his chest rising and falling dramatically with each deep breath he took. âIâll see you tomorrow, beautiful.â And with that, he watched you walk away from the astronomy tower.
LEANDER PREWETT was shy, nervous and anxious about asking you to go to the Yule Ball with him. In fact, he was insistent on not going at all, but when you batted your eyelashes at him and begged him to come, Leander couldnât say no. âWho are you going with?â You asked Leander as you walked with him to your next class.Â
Leander stopped in his tracks and rubbed his neck awkwardly. âI donât have a date, actually.âÂ
You were shocked to say the least. Leander was a good looking man, who wouldnât want to go to a ball with him? âIs that why you didnât want to come?âÂ
âSomething like that, yeah.âÂ
You sighed, sitting down on the bench outside the Defence Against The Dark Arts classroom and patting the seat next to you for Leander to sit down. Nervously he looked towards the classroom door before obliging, sitting down next to you but leaving just enough distance to be considered respectful of your personal space. âYou know, I donât have a date either. But just because I donât have a date, doesnât mean I donât want to go.âÂ
Leander nodded, a slight hum leaving his throat at your words. It wasnât that he didnât want to go, he wanted to go and enjoy his night. The issue was he wanted to go with you. âI suppose,â he whispered, looking down at his feet.Â
âAre you thinking of asking anyone?â You asked him softly, placing a hand on his knee. Leander became acutely aware of your hand gripping his kneecap and felt his breath hitch in his throat. He became a bumbling mess of a man as he tried to explain his predicament to you without telling you exactly why he didnât want to go.Â
âYeah - I mean thereâs this girl - but I donât think sheâd want to go with me and, I feel too nervous to ask her in case she shoots me down,â Leander muttered.Â
âWho would ever shoot you down, Leander?â You asked him seriously as you furrowed your eyebrows. âYou donât give yourself enough credit. Youâre smart, charming and handsome. Plenty of women are just dying to ask you to the ball!âÂ
Leander felt his heart skip a beat at your description and he looked up from his feet to gaze into your eyes. Were you saying that just to be nice, or did you really mean it? Surely if you meant it, then thereâs no way youâd turn him down⌠right? Leander let out a shaky sigh. âDo you really mean that?âÂ
You nodded your head, a bright smile playing on your lips. You hated to admit it, but the thought of Leander asking someone else other than you to the ball cut you deep inside, but you were his friend and you had to be supportive. âWhy donât you practise asking me? Pretend I'm the girl.â Leander looked horrified at that suggestion and he felt his palms become sweaty. You squeezed his knee in reassurance. âDonât be shy, Leander, itâs only me.â
âThatâs the problemâ, Leander thought as he opened his mouth to speak. His throat ran dry as the words came tumbling off his lips, and fast. âWouldyouliketocometotheballwithme?âÂ
âGood, butâŚâ you trailed off, giggling slightly. âIt was a bit fast. Try to slow down, the trick is to act confident. If you act confident, but not too confident, you canât go wrong! The girl will be like putty in your hands.âÂ
Leander took another breath and ran a hand through his ginger hair. He looked down at your hand on his knee before looking into your eyes once more. With a deep breath, he spoke. This time sounding more serious and determined than before. âWill you, Y/N L/N, attend the Yule Ball with me?âÂ
You removed your hand from his knee and clapped in approval. You couldnât deny the beating of your heart in your chest at the thought of him truly asking you to the ball, but you shook your head, trying to get that thought out of your head. âPerfect! If you say it exactly like that, that girl is bound to say yes!âÂ
Leander furrowed his eyebrows and pinched the bridge of his nose. He decided to try again. âY/N⌠Will you accompany me to the ball?â
You blinked at him, heartbeat thumping in your ears. You wanted to believe that he was just practising again, but the way Leander was looking at you made you realise quickly that he wasnât. âM-Me?â You asked him, pointing at your chest.
âYes. You.âÂ
âWhy me?â You managed to stammer out, feeling your cheeks flush red from embarrassment.Â
Now it was Leanderâs turn to place his hand on your knee. âBecause youâre smart, charming and beautiful,â he replied, echoing the words that you had used to describe him earlier back at you. âAnd I would be the luckiest man in this castle if you agreed to attend this ball with me.â You hesitated for a moment, unsure if this was just some prank. Leander squeezed your knee slightly, a gentle push for you to answer his question. You opened your mouth to speak, but no words came out. Instead, you just nodded your head. âYou mean it?â He asked, scooting closer to you.Â
âYes, I mean it,â you whispered softly, nodding your head. You felt as though the man had just proposed marriage to you.Â
Leander smirked, all his insecurities washing away with a nod of your head. âGreat! I erm, Iâll see you tomorrow?â He asked, nodding his head slowly.Â
âIâll see you tomorrow Leander,â you smiled softly, watching as the man walked away from you. Leander couldnât stop smiling as he walked back to his dorm room, the feeling of finally being able to ask you, making him feel as though he could do anything.
AMIT THAKKAR watched you from across the room as you talked to Ominis and Sebastian, your two best friends. Amit desperately wanted to ask you to the Yule Ball, but he had managed to convince himself that one of your friends had already asked you. He had lost himself in staring at you, only noticing his gaze remained on you when you turned to look at him. Clearly, Sebastian had pointed out Amitâs staring to you. Just when the embarrassment couldnât get any worse, you stood up and began walking over to him. Amit stiffened as you walked towards him, his eyes quickly diverting away from you. Then your voice came, âhey Amit.â
âH-Hi,â he managed to stutter out. Amit finally turned to look at you again, a soft, awkward smile on his lips.Â
âYou okay?â You asked, voice silky and smooth. You sat down on the bench next to him, getting yourself comfortable.Â
âMe? Iâm fine. Are you?â He asked, tilting his head to the side.Â
âIâve been better,â you replied honestly. This made Amit frown.
âWhatâs wrong?â He couldnât help but ask you.Â
âWell, itâs a bit silly,â you mumbled, shifting awkwardly next to him. âBut nobody has asked me to the Yule Ball yet.âÂ
Amitâs eyes widened. Nobody had asked you? How could that be? You were utterly stunning. He couldnât believe that nobody had asked you, not even Sebastian or Ominis. âSo youâre not going with Sebastian? Or Ominis?â His voice held a hopeful tone.Â
You couldnât help but laugh slightly. âSebastian? Ominis? Seriously?âÂ
âI-I just meant as friends,â Amit stammered as you shook your head, still laughing slightly.Â
âNo. Iâm not going with either of them,â you stared at Amit with a grin on your face. âWhat about you? Who are you going with?âÂ
Amit shook his head. âOh. No one.âÂ
âYou havenât asked anyone?â Amit shook his head, suddenly feeling very nervous. Was he making it obvious that he wanted to ask you? Should he ask you? He felt dizzy at your close proximity and sighed slightly as you asked another question. âIs there anyone you want to ask?âÂ
Amit nodded his head slightly, almost shyly. âYeah, but, I canât seem to work up the courage to ask.âÂ
âWhy not?â You asked. âSurely whoever you want to ask would say yes! I mean, youâre amazing Amit. Donât think about it too hard, and donât think too harshly about yourself either.â You smiled at him, placing a hand on his shoulder comfortingly and squeezing gently. Amit looked at you, a slight blush peppering his cheeks.Â
âDo you think so?â He asked, eyes widening slightly.Â
You nodded your head. âYes. I really do.âÂ
âIn that caseâŚâ Amit turned to you, a gleam in his eyes. âWould you like to go to the ball with me?âÂ
Your lips turned up into a grin as you looked at Amit, both of your hearts beating rapidly. You didnât even hesitate to nod at him, smiling widely. âIâd love to go to the ball with you!â You exclaimed, clapping your hands together excitedly.Â
âR-Really?â Amit asked, shock covering his face.Â
âOf course! I thought youâd never ask me,â you chuckle, shaking your head. Amit felt his face getting hotter at your comment.Â
âHonestly? I thought I wouldnât ask either.âÂ
âIâm glad you did,â you replied, taking his hand in yours and bringing it up to your lips.
âMe too,â he whispered, letting your lips skim across his hand. This was a dream come true for him, and for you too. âWhat will you be wearing?â
âAh, youâll just have to wait and see,â you grin, a slight giggle in your voice.Â
âWell whatever it is, Iâm sure youâre going to look stunning,â Amit smiled, forcing you to blush lightly.Â
âThank you, Amit,â you replied, slightly embarrassed. You stood up from your position on the bench to make your way back to your friends, but not before pressing a gentle kiss on Amitâs cheek. âIâll see you soon, Amit.â
âY-Yeah, Iâll see you soon.â Amit watched as you walked away, a wide smile on his face. He was already excitedly anticipating the ball, but now he truly had a reason to: heâd be dancing with you. Drinking with you. He couldnât wait to see how beautiful you looked. To have you on his arm, finally.

Luminary (Amit Thakkar x F!Reader)
PAIRING: Amit Thakkar x F!Reader
WARNING: Confession, first kiss, mutual pining, Second Person POV
WORD COUNT: 1.8K
AUTHORâS NOTE: After procrastinating for almost a month Iâm like you know what? Iâm posting this. Itâs a Yule Ball themed fanfiction that I wrote because Iâm inspired by this post. But since Iâm worried that I might end up making my friendâs character too OOC, I made this into a x reader fanfiction instead đ
The Yule Ball wouldâve been easier had you gone to have fun alone. But when you are in love, things get complicated. Suddenly, someone else mattered to you. No matter how lovely that person was, you could adorn yourself for hours, and still wonder if it was enough.
Your eyes focused on scanning through the Entrance Hall for a sign of your partner in the crowd of students. And found him you did, patterns were woven on his outer coat, a long, silver-embroidered shawl over his shoulder with the other end hung on his arm, that was the way Amit stood out.Â
The princely quality of the arrangement made you flutter. You hid behind the stone wall, telling your poor heart to calm down.Â
Amit was two flights of stairs away, repeating his steps and muttering to himself, a contrast to the charming attire he put together that would otherwise make him look pleasantly intimidating. Your chest did something funny and it couldnât be helped. He was just so endearing.Â
You jumped a little when he spotted you. As you walked out of your hiding spot, he put a hand on his chest, as if he had been disarmed without a spell, stunned and speechless, and now you were even. His hand was offered, convincing you to not shy away.
Waltz filled the air and couples danced to it. Each pair looked different from the direction of the chandeliers. The hem of your attire gave the impression of a comet trail, hands and arms attached to your dance partner in his midnight sky blue coat.Â
He kissed the back of your hand at the end of the first Waltz. He could be so coy as to avoid looking at you in the eye, but you noticed the red tint growing on his cheeks.Â
The merry died down as midnight approached. The clock showed half past eleven in the evening and the orchestra had been playing a softer-sounding arrangement.Â
By the end of the 7th year, many of your friends were either courting or engaged. By the looks of it, only true couples stayed for the slow dance, which wasnât the case for both of you. But to be there with Amit didnât feel out of place. You felt like an actual couple, in some way.Â
He hadnât said anything about it, neither had you. But you couldâve sworn that at some moments, you almost got to that point. He would raise your hope and say âI want to speak to you about somethingâ and after a moment of pause, he would say something entirely different.
Sometimes, you had a dreadful reminder that someday, he would remember you only briefly, like a passing eclipse, or a red dye on a maidenâs hand washed off too early, not enough to leave a stain.
At some point, both of you agreed to retreat yourselves, shifting from the ballroom full of light from the crystal chandelier to a dimmer part of the castle that was the Central Hall.Â
It seemed that they cast a charm on the bridge, the falling snow melted and dripped down the lake as soon as they hit the ground.
Amit, like the admirer that he was, stared at the vast open sky as you both walked through the bridge near the Viaduct Courtyard.
âI love how clear it is here.â His eyes twinkled at them before they stared back at you. âMy family lives in a big city, sometimes itâs too clouded with pollution to see anything.âÂ
âLuckily you spend most of your years here. You better enjoy them while you can.â
âAnd Iâm grateful for it.â He sighed. âOh, I will miss this so much.â
âYouâre really going to travel, arenât you? I mean, after graduation, of course.â
âI am, and Iâm already thinking of my first destination.â He perked.Â
âAnd youâre going to write a book too.â You chuckled. âThatâs wonderful.â
The hold of your hand around his arm released. You walked ahead, much to his confusion. Arms crossed with your back facing against him, leaving him a few steps away.Â
You could see the sighing of your deep breath in the cold air, and so he noticed. You heard a flap of a fabric, the shawl he wrapped around your shoulders.
âThank you.â You mumbled.
âDonât worry.â He smiled. âCan I write about you in the details of our adventure in the fifth year?âÂ
The gloom on your face turned into a grin now.
âNo, please, not about me.â Your head shook. âImagine if Professor Weasley drag me back just to give me detention if she found out!â You uttered in a loud whisper.
âOr, she would be proud of you! Maybe she would say âThis one was my student once!â who knows?â He shrugged.
âAmit!â You urged.
âAlright! Iâm just joking.â His hands raised in surrender. âI wonât mention your name, I'll guarantee that.â
âOkay, that will do just fine.â You sighed in relief. âAlthough Iâm sad that I wonât meet my friends as much. You wonât forget about me, wonât you?â
âWhat? Thatâs ridiculous, I wonât!â
âReally?â
âOf course!â
âThen, promise me that youâll write to me.âÂ
You extended your little finger, which he took without a doubt.
âI promise.âÂ
A silly idea came out of nowhere, you curled your finger on his palm, he laughed from the ticklishness on his skin, breaking the rest of the melancholy that remained in the air.
âHey! What was that for?â
You had no replies, only a mischievous smile that invited him.Â
Amit crouched from the playful attack that you brought to his hips, while you wrapped his shawl around your head, hiding your bare neck away from what he sent back.
Laughter echoed around the thick stone walls, and the paintings fussed. The two of you ran through Sir Nicholasâ see-through form, only stopping for a while to apologize before going back to your childish game of chase.Â
You didnât remember when was the last time you sported around this way. You tackled him, and he tackled you.
But the laughing fit gradually subsided and both of you fell on the marble floor. He lied down to catch his breath, while you sat beside him and stared, as the moonlight from outside the window shone his face in the most flattering way.Â
There was a certain solemnity in the air that none of you wanted to move away, although you were both too close to be appropriate. Thankfully, the Gargoylesâ eyes didnât reach this place enough to make their teasing remarks, nor Peeves.Â
His stare shifted from the ceiling, and fell on the silver embedded silk that curtained your face.
âWell, look at you!â He breathed out, shaking his head in astonishment. âThis suits you so well! You lookââÂ
He slightly tucked away the silk, revealing your skin and the growing flush that appeared rose-stained at his affectionate gaze. He quietly wished that he could just kiss it, suffocating to simply think of.
ââLike a bride.âÂ
The words spilled out like a wish, more silent and stifled.
A brideâ something unspoken started to surface, and at this point, it became inevitable.
Amit had his potion ingredients mixed up the other day, for the first time in years, he received a scolding from Professor Sharp.Â
His poorly drawn star chart sent quite a shock to Professor Shah. She wrote to his family, saying that their son has been distracted.Â
But nothing fruitful will ever come out of him, no matter how much they ask. Their beloved son has learned to keep his secret in all his letters.Â
And he knew perfectly why. Why he had been losing his sleep and his appetite, and why he messed up his sentences in your presence every once in a while, when you gave him a compliment or when you stood so close that he could feel your breath tickling his neck.
It all came to this moment when his turmoil was at peak. He needed to break out, to give himself some closure, and, to give you something you had been waiting for, although he hadn't known about it, not yet.
âI must say something.âÂ
His voice broke out in an unusually daring way.
âWhat is it?âÂ
âButââ He made a pause, and you noticed the hesitation from him as he furrowed his eyebrows. âIf you donât like what Iâm about to say.. would you still be my friend?âÂ
âOf course I will, you silly.â You let out a chuckle. âWell, say it, Amit.â
âOh, Gods.. Alright.â He took a sharp breath. âI know that we will part ways soon.. but, when I think of the possibility that we will grow apart, or that you may end up with someone elseâ I donât think I will be able to take it.â
âYou donât want me ending up with someone else?â Your eyes softened, turning just as warm as the rest of your face. âThen, who would you rather I end up with?â Your words were like a taunt.
âIâd ratherââ And then he finally said it. âI would rather you end up with me.â
His sight avoided you, and the moment of silence that swole up washed him with regret. It became unbearable to be at the mercy of your towering gaze, no matter how tender it seemed.
âI wonât pressure you to return the sentiment.â
His voice shook, trying to tone down his sincere wish to not chase you away.Â
His lips trembled as he tried to find an explanation for himself. Sometimes, you would find yourself staring at them, and wondering.
âYou know, I just want to...â
His next words drifted away as your thumbs reached for his chin.Â
â..If thatâs how you feel about meââÂ
You didnât know what had got into you. As puzzled as he was, he couldnât help but to look at you as he felt your fingertip on his lips.
ââThen, I hope you wouldnât mind..â
The floral scent of your perfume started to cloud his judgment, and his lips parted for you to take.
The sheer blue silk on your head fell on him as well, acting like a partition between both of you and whoever might walk in. And if they do, theyâd be welcomed by a pair of silhouettes, lips pressed together underneath the embroidered silk, although full of silver thread, but sheer enough to be exposed.Â
As you breathed for air, his head raised slightly, unwilling to be parted from the kiss that ceased his doubts. You didnât know his lips would be so soft as they moved to feel more of you, so delicate.
As you rested your head on his chest, the thumping of his heart could be heard alarmingly fast.
Amit looked at the stars just outside the window. Everything he loved always seemed unreachable. But now they were all in his arms.

Promise
Part 1
His hand reached out to grab your arm, not wanting you to leave. He has so much he needs to say, but it never seems like the right time. He knew the rumors. He knew they were true. He did not want you to leave.
Each time you left, you always came back with another story. Another scar. Another fear. Your heart is to good for this world. Yet youâve willingly chosen to share the purity and grace you have naturally to the world who takes so willingly.
âItâll be alright.â Just as he knows you, it would seem you know him. He has tried to control how he looks each time you told him you were leaving for a new venture. To help someone. To stop Rookwood and Harlow. To build your unique ability. Yet each time you chose to leave, despite the mournful look on his face.
Amit
He has tried so hard to figure out where it was written in the stars that you had to do these things. He knew you were destined for greatness the moment you stepped through the Great Hall doors. There was a nervousness to your walk, yet, you wasted no time to be sorted and start the new adventure in your life.
He love nothing more than to go with you. Heâd gladly protect you if he could. But he know that the action and danger you gladly embrace, is something he could never bring himself to do again. However, he tried so hard to understand research this the drill and what the goblins could be digging for. He wanted to help you in any way he could. He researched into goblin history and cross referenced instances where goblins would have to mine for something. Not a usual cross between wizardkind and goblinkind, but the most he was able to find is a mention of Bragbor. He has tried to help and offer information to you, but he knows there is information that is missing.
He decides to act on his instincts and reaches out to grab your arm, his hand tight and shaking. âPlease, donât go. Itâs to dangerous.â Though his hand is shaking, his voice is firm. You can only smile at him with uncertainty. Youâd love nothing more than to grant his request, but youâve so much to do. Things that would make the world better and safer. For him.
âAmit, I.. Iâd love nothing more than to do this for you. But I canât. Not right now at least. I need to make the world safer. For the people I love and care about. I have responsibilities-â
âYou donât get it!â His other hand grabbed your other arm pulling you closer. Trying in a vein attempt to get you to stay. âI love you. But all of this is running you ragged! Putting you in danger! If youâve seen worse than the mine we went to, then that is far too much!â His hand shook against your arms, but this time his voice cracked with fresh tears. It was fortunate that the astrology tower is usually empty, day or night.
You placed a hand onto his cheek and immediately his shot to it, as if to keep you from floating away. âDearest star, the cosmos didnât simply happen upon beauty. Chaos reigned, and now, look at its perfection. I donât know why I was given this gift or why I take these responsibilities. But I do it because I would love a perfect world we can share. I can make you this promise, Iâll always come back to you.â
Deep down he knew you were right. You were willing to take a risk heâd never dare to. But he knew one thing was certain. Youâd never break a promise. You were a competent user of magic. Youâve broken the barriers of all expectations of you, and he knew you would be fine. But what he wouldnât give to have you simply stay here with him. With your friends. Living a normal life. He looked at you with wide eyes and wrapped an arm around you, pulling you close for a hug.
âPlease do. Iâve never met anyone who understands me like you do..â Despite the urgency of before, you let him hold you like this. Letting him cry out his worries and fears for you. Settled in the moonlight, you both made a sealing promise. Youâd return to him and heâd be there with open arms.
Garreth:
âIf I am being honest with you, I would prefer it if you didnât leave. Iâm not one for fighting as you are, but Iâll make sure youâre well prepared. Here.â He gave a dour look as he began to pull out vial after vial. Heâd spent a week perfecting the potions to ensure theyâd work for you. He did not know what youâd be facing, but surely these potions would help. Even if the thought of the Wiggenweld potion made his stomach hurt.
âI also spoke with Professor Garlick and she allowed me to plant some of the more, feisty, plants. These should help you while youâre out there. Wrapped as best as they could be, he offered three different types of plants. The Cabbage, Tentacula, and Mandrake. It was difficult explaining to Professor Garlick why he needed this material. Given his previous history with potioneering, he did look suspicious. But he opted to be your out of class tutor. He worked tirelessly to provide whatever he could for you to succeed in your missions.
He didnât understand why you had to be the one to help every Sue, Jim, and Stanley that asked. But he respected that you were so willing and giving. He knew there was something different about you the moment you walked into the Great Hall, but he never expected such a burden on your shoulders.
He didnât realize it until you came back from Honeydukes days after heâd asked for the Billywig Stings. He hadnât seen you in classes, but somehow you were doing well. But when youâd given him the stings, he noticed you were shaken. When he asked, you had openly told him a fraction of your adventure with Jackdaw. He remembered wanting to comfort you, but he didnât know you well enough to offer a hand of comfort. But the more he saw you leaving the castle grounds and even the safety of Hogsmeade, the more he deduced that you were off having more of your little adventures.
Each time he saw you, he would offer an âextraâ potion. Itâs what brought you both closer the more he thought about it. Usually he could call on anyone to talk to, but he valued the time he could stand and speak freely about whatever could take your mind of the burden you carried. But it was never enough.
âThank you Garreth. These will be helpful. I know itâs not ideal to watch a friend âgo off to battle,ââ youâd said this with a goofy tone, but immediately straightened at his unusual blank expression, âBut it is something I have to do. For myself. For my friends. For the wizarding world, not to sound to dramatic.â He watched as you put the last of the potions and plants away for safe keeping.
âI, and trust me, I of all people understand taking a risk for the betterment of the wizarding world. Itâs where I concoct my best ideas. But there is surely a difference between a student and a qualified adult?â His brows furrowed in desperation, âIâm sure youâre more than competent, but why does it have to be you? Right now, you should have the freedom to make mistakes when they donât matter. Right now, you should be worried about how you look on a date or something. This-â his lips pursed together as he tried to think of the best way to tell you what he thought, âthis is absolute madness.â His arms were extended by his side as he finished, having previously moved around to emphasize his point.
You had taken the burden with stride. There was no point in denying what needed to be done, especially when authorities hadnât managed to do anything since the beginning. Youâd often come back needing mending and cleaning, but thanks to Garreths potions, there was no bruising or pain. But he was left seeing the scars of your ventures.
âIt can be madness, but-â Seeing the way your face tried to find a reason, a seemingly valid reason for your suffering.
âBut nothing. I care about you. So much it really hurts sometimes. I hate seeing you work yourself to the bone for people who will never truly appreciate how much youâre giving up!â His face was slowly turning red while his eyes watered. He couldnât even look at you. His usual gaze meeting yours, he could only look to your feet.
âGarreth, I know there is a lot I am missing. But I promise you, when all of this is over, we will make up for lost time. Any way youâd like. We can go on dates. Fight for the millionth time. Make a mistake and ask for forgiveness. But this is just something that must be done. For myself. For you.â You placed a hand onto his cheek, feeling his warmth and even the jittery mess he was inside.
It took him a moment of trying to blink away tears and look into your eyes. His hand covered yours and he turned his face to place a kiss on your palm. âIâll hold you to that.â

The View Can Wait | Amit Thakkar x MC
summary - You and Amit share a tender moment walking back to Hogwarts after an outing to Hogsmeade
warnings - fluff, drabble, GN!MC
notes - first time ever posting my writing :S sincerest thanks to miles for supporting and encouraging me
word count - 610
Amit strolled alongside you, arms linked, occasionally nodding and humming in response as you chattered about everything and anything that came to mind. He found your voice soothing and your way of speaking charming, so sitting back and simply listening to you ramble was one of his favorite activities. In turn, when it came to things he was really passionate aboutâlike Astronomy or Gobbledegook, or Mooncalves as of lateâhe became the talker and youâthe listener.
Breathing warm air on your mittened hands, you mumbled, âI canât believe that Cornish wizard bred another creature.â The audacity of the repeat offender was astounding. âHonestly, I think they should fund him. Who knows what kind of new species might come out of this.âÂ
Amit nodded as he glanced over at you and let out an affirmative hum. It was a simple exchange, but to an attentive lover like you, it came across as more like: That wizard is out of his mind, but he is a genius.
After a short lull filled with the calming sounds of nature winding down for the night and your footsteps on the cobbled path back from Hogsmeade, you chimed in. âSo how far are you into your astrolog-âÂ
âAstro-no-my, my star...â Amit tilted his head and glanced sidelong at you, gently correcting you. He lost count of how often youâd made this mistake. At first, he dismissed it as a common slip. Plenty of others mixed the two up; it was understandable. But months into your relationship? One part of him thought you were just being playful and turned this into an inside joke. Another part wondered if you were genuinely confused. Either way, he didnât have the heart to be upset with you over it.Â
âGo on, you were saying?â He chuckled softly, his breath a visible puff of air in the crisp autumn evening. Noticing the way you went quiet at his interruption, he felt a pang of anxiety, worried he might have upset you. But you continued in your usual bubbly manner, allowing Amit to let out a subtle sigh of relief.Â
âDid anything in particular catch your attention yet?â âPlenty,â he replied, pulling his hand out of his pockets and wrapping his arm around your waist. âBut I think that can wait until weâre back inside.â You looked up at him and tilted your head quizzically. Without you saying a word, Amit sensed your confusion and blurted out, gesturing with his head to the side, âI think we could just enjoy the view for now!â At the mention of the âviewâ, you turned to look in the direction he indicated. Completely unaware, you two stumbled onto the little sitting area with benches and streetlights overlooking Hogwarts. There it stood, breathtaking and grand against a backdrop of a starry sky.Â
You couldnât remember the last time youâve seen the skies this clear; a rare treat this rainy autumn. Amit had been in low spirits all term, missing his stargazing sessions. Hence why you gifted him the book you mentioned earlier. It wasnât even out on bookshelves yet! Courtesy of your good friend Ominis and his familyâs connections.
As you admired the castle, Amit melted at the sight of your eyes twinkling with awe. A warm smile spread across his face. He pulled you into a tight embrace, pressing a soft kiss to the top of your head. âI love you,â he whispered, his voice airy and gentle in your ear.Â
You giggled softly, nestling closer to his chest. âI love you too,â you murmured back, your voice muffled by his coat. The view of the castle, magnificent as it was, faded into the backgroundâŚ

Three times Amit nearly kissed her (and one time he did)
Amit Thakkar was still adjusting to his new life in the tiny hamlet of Keenbridge. It was certainly a different pace for him, but he was enjoying it all the same.
He'd got a little cottage on top of the hill, a little bit isolated from the other houses, but he didn't mind.Â
Oh, and his obsession with the stars was still consuming him alive. He'd set up a small station for himself in his garden, a telescope on a rickety old table and several (hundred) scrolls of parchment just waiting to be filled with notes on his sightings.
The people were nice too, which is always a bonus. Well, most of them. There was one bloke Amit had the misfortune of meeting on his first day and he'd vowed he'd steer clear of him as much as possible because he was a right ol' piece of work. Amit didn't have the guts to face any sort of negative attitude from the man, and had developed a (bad) habit of scurrying away whenever he caught sight of him.
Merlin, he was such a coward.
He just didn't want trouble!
Then there was her.
Now she- She was someone Amit wanted to be around.
There was something about her eyes that managed to send Amit into a frenzy.
The very first time they had met, they'd quite literally ploughed right into each other on the street. Admittedly, neither of them was looking where they were going, and then suddenly the basket of fruit she was carrying was tumbling to the floor, half the contents spilling all over the place.Â
She only had half a second to watch sadly as an apple rolled its merry way down the street, before sheâd dived down to retrieve the still-good food.
They'd collided with such a force that they both let out an audible "oof" before stumbling away from each other, and Amit let out such a fast string of apologies that even himself couldn't even decipher in that moment. He scrambled down to help, picking up fruit as she set the basket right and chucked her share in.
"Oh, I'm awfully sorry madam, I wasn't looking when I should've, it's entirely my⌠faultâŚ" he had to trail off.
When their eyes met, Amit felt as though heâd fallen straight into a rather clichĂŠ romance novel; the way she looked up at him, irises glittering in the morning sun, long lashes batting, it was like time had slowed for him.
Her eyes tore right through him, slightly annoyed but unable to stop the humour from seeping through.
His breath hitched in his throat and he snapped his mouth shut, his own dark eyes staring right back at her.
"Are you alright? I'm so sorry, I wasn't looking," she asked, placing the last of the fruit back into the basket and rising to her full height.
(If there was one thing Amit was relatively proud of, it was his height. He grew quite tall in the summer after his fifth year, and suddenly he was quite popular with the ladies. Not that he had much time for⌠things like that⌠But it made him at least a bit more confident!
And right now, he was towering over her.)
"Oh, no, I'm fine, and it was my fault, I apologize for the absolute carnage," he rushed out, "and I'm sorry about your fruit! I-"
"Hey, don't worry about the fruit, I'm sure my mother will understand the circumstances when I give them to her." The lady explained, flashing a smile, before furrowing her brows. "Wait, I haven't seen you here before."
"O-oh, yes, I moved in a short while ago, um," he awkwardly stuck out his hand, "Amit Thakkar."
"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you, Mr Thakkar." She shook his hand firmly, and the way she never broke eye contact made butterflies erupt in his stomach. "I live just over there," she pointed off to one of the houses, "so if you need anything, give us a shout."
"That's very gracious of you," Amit said truthfully, feeling a bit more welcomed than stupid after the whole fiasco.
"Right, I better be off. See you around, Mr Thakkar!" She bid him farewell, scooped up her basket, and bustled off down the street.
Amit just kind of⌠stood there for a bit.
Honestly, he was feeling a bit overwhelmed by the whole encounter.
He started off by mentally slapping himself. He'd made such a fool of himself, why can't he just look where he's going?!
Then, he gave himself an internal pat on the back. He'd spoken to a very nice, very pretty lady and there were no hard feelings. Result!
He had a feeling he was going to get on well here.
đŚ
A few days later, that feeling dissipated. Because Amit Thakkar had now come face to face with the one person he did not want to see.
Mr Kaligan, the haughty, loud, God-loving and generally rude man Amit didn't find very pleasant was currently pestering Amit's new lady friend.
And Amit's lady friend was smiling slightly. She was chuckling along to Kaligan's (poor attempts at a) joke, and Amit couldn't help but notice the repeated glances she shot the man's way.Â
She looked uncomfortable.
But, Amit absolutely hated confrontation.
He'd rather eat Mooncalf poo than actually intervene in anything that didn't involve him. Even if it did involve him, he'd probably leave it as well.
So, he stood there, watching out of the corner of his eye.
"You gonna buy that, mate?" The shopkeeper asked, making Amit jerk. He was holding a quill that he'd picked up and hadn't really done anything with it.
"Oh! Yes, please," he hurried out, handing the shopkeeper the money before scampering off to try and not embarrass himself further (he seemed to be very good at that as of late.)
He shot a look over at his friend again.
She was on her own! Kaligan had apparently gotten bored and wandered off.
Now, Amit had two choices.
Choice one: go home. Stay home. Only come out at night.
Choice two: go and talk to his friend. Make sure she's okay.
His years alone - just him and the stars - may have done a slight bit of damage to his self esteem, along with his ability to actually communicate with other humans.Â
His years at Hogwarts may have also contributed to his lack of assertion into conversations; he'd often kept to himself, plus people weren't really interested in what he had to say anyway, because all he really talked about was the night sky.
He just didn't want to be judged and come off as something he's not, you know?
(The Spotlight Effect is the psychological phenomenon by which people tend to believe they are being noticed more than they really are.)
His decision was made for him, however, when his friend came strolling up to him, grinning.
âHello again, Mr Thakkar,â she greeted cheerfully, closing her eyes as she smiled his way, as if the afternoon sun was in her eyes (it was.)
âOh! Uh, hello again,â he said awkwardly, providing a wonky smile that looked my like a grimace (he looked constipated.)
âIâm glad I found you, actually,â she said, and Amitâs brain briefly shut down when she grabbed his arms and shuffled them around, so she was facing away from the sun and not screwing her face up like she had something lodged up her nose, âI wanted to give you this!â
She seemed to produce a very pretty and carefully decorated piece of pottery out of nowhere, handing it to him. Amit, taken aback, gathered it was plate, absolutely littered with-
âConstellations!â He blurted unceremoniously, jaw dropping to the floor. He stared at her. âHow did you-â
âWhen you gave me your name, I could have sworn Iâd heard it before, so I did some digging, and realised youâd written a very interesting column in the Daily Profit about astronomy and other sky related things. Consider this a âWelcome to Townâ gift as well as an apology gift. For running into you, of course.â
Amit was, for lack of better words, dumbfounded. Heâd kind of forgotten heâd written that column, but for this woman to do something so kind to him, going as far as gifting something within his interests, well, it made him a bit giddy. He didnât even know her, but she seemed to be determined to make a friend out of him.
âItâs⌠beautiful- did you make this?â He questioned, tracing a finger along the smooth, painted lines.
The woman gave a short laugh.
âI painted it, my mother made the base plate. I assume it is to your satisfaction?â She said in a joking manner, but she seemed to do a minute double-take when she looked up to see Amit watching her, dark eyes alight with wonder.
âItâs wonderful,â he stated breathlessly, bringing the plate a bit closer to his chest, as if he was going to hug it, âthank you ever so much, thatâs so kind of you.â
âAh, it's nothing,â the woman waved her hand nonchalantly, âjust wanted you to feel welcome. How have you been faring?â
As the conversation progressed, Amit felt the tension leave his shoulders. They spoke about anything and everything; family, school, jobs and hobbies⌠The woman was so friendly, Amit felt as though theyâd been friends for years.
It was⌠nice. Refreshing.Â
âRight, I better be off,â Amit said (for the third time), swinging his arms and doing an odd side shuffle in the direction of his house.
âOf course, Iâll let you go now,â the woman laughed, patting his arm gently, comfortingly, âget home safe.â
âYou too. And, uh, thank you again. Youâre too kind.â He stated gratefully.
âYouâre very welcome, my dear. Good day to you!â And with that, Amitâs friend walked back up the street, waving over her shoulder, before disappearing down a path.
After Amit made it home and had deposited the plate carefully on the table, he leaned against the kitchen counter and thought over the experience he just had.
That woman could talk for England. Like, she just. Kept. Going. But he found he didnât mind that. She had a way of speaking that integrated him into the conversation, asking questions and responding in turn, and she had such a nice voice and Amit realised with a crease of his brow that he may have swooned just a little when she spoke about what she knew about the stars. Oh, and when she asked if he could show her how to properly stargaze one of these coming nights only made his heart stop. Just for a second. Nothing serious. NothingâŚÂ
Youâve only just met her, you blithering oaf. Donât act like sheâs giving you the special treatment, she treats everyone with kindness.
Amit decided he needed to lay down.
đŚ
âOh, it's beautiful!â She exclaimed in delight, straining her neck to look upwards so much that she fell backwards onto the blanket Amit had laid out for them.Â
As per her request, Amit was showing her the different stars painting the night sky, explaining their meanings and names. Amitâs friend was, he was very proud to admit, thoroughly enjoying herself.
"That's the Seven Sisters, there," Amit explained enthusiastically, pointing up and tracing his finger over the small cluster of stars, "and the three stars in a row is Orion's Belt."
"I didn't know they had names, how fascinating." She said distractedly, raising a small telescope to her eye, a spare one Amit let her borrow.
A comfortable silence washed over them as they gazed upwards.
"The moon is so bright,â Amit commented into the silence, âdo you think people could live on it?â
Amit decided that it was a very stupid question right after it left his mouth, and he internally scolded himself. What a silly thing to say-
âNow thatâs a question Iâd like to know the answer to,â his friend said with an air of excitement, making him raise his brows, âcould you imagine? Living all the way out there- youâd be able to see Earth! What an interesting concept.â
Wow. Okay. So she didnât think it was a silly question.
âWould you live on the moon?â He asked.
She pondered for a moment, fingers on her chin, before deciding on an answer.
âHmm, no.â
âWhy not?â
âBecause Iâm quite comfortable with my life here, where I have family and friends. Plus, if I lived on the moon, I wouldnât be using your telescope to look at the stars.â She laughed the last bit, running a hand faintly along the telescope.
Amit chuckled, âI suppose thatâs true-âÂ
âWhat a ludicrous question.â
Both of them froze at the sudden voice behind them, before they both whipped around to see none other than Mr. Kaligan, leaning against a fence post, arms folded. He had a spiteful look plastered across his (ugly) face.
âWhat are you-â the lady began, but was cut off.
âA man and a woman sat alone together at the ungodly hours of the night? Anyone could get the wrong idea.â He sneered nastily.
Amit fought the blush that was threatening to show itself, before he distantly remembered it was dark out, and was probably hard to see anyway.Â
âI-Itâs not like that at all,â he tried.
âWell-â
âWell-â the woman cut the man off fiercely, âwe were having a nice chat as friends, so I donât see how thatâs any of your business. At all. Were you watching us?â
âI was taking a walk-â
âAt midnight?â Amit asked innocently, a very brief surge of courage allowing him to speak.
Kaligan stumbled and spluttered for a moment before sticking his ugly nose in the air and marching off into the night.Â
Amit let out a breath.
âMen, huh.â He deadpanned, sympathising.Â
âWouldnât call that a man, my dear. Boyish behaviour if you ask me. Might as well still live with mummy,â she responded, and they both snorted.
âOn that slightly abrupt note, should we wrap things up for tonight?â She continued.
âMight be wise,â Amit confirmed, hiding the pang of disappointment of not being able to stay out some more.
âLet's do this again some other time. I had fun! Youâre so interesting to talk to, and your knowledge of the sky is magnificent.â
âOh! Um, of course, weâll definitely do this again!â Amit had to prevent himself from bouncing on the balls of his feet and looking too happy.
đŚ
Amitâs luck the next day decided to disappear into the next dimension, because who should show up?
Kaligan.
And he was approaching him. Fast.
Oh, Christ, he looks like heâs going to hit me, why does he look like an angry bull? Heâs getting closer, run Amit, stop standing like a lemon, turn and run damnit-
âWhy donât you stay away from her, yeah?â The man leered, and Amit instinctively drew into himself. âI donât need you meddling-â
Mr Kaligan was suddenly cut off by the tip of a wand being dug ever so gently into his neck. He swallowed, snapping his eyes to see her in all her fury, jaw clenched.Â
Amit decided she looked quite fierce.Â
He also decided she was very attractive like this (he squashed those thoughts as fast as he could.)
âAre you threatening him?â She asked, voice dangerously calm.
âIâŚno?â Kaligan answered meekly.
Her lips pursed.
âI was a fool to think you were a nice fellow. Get out of here. Go on, shoo!â She spat, making motions of dismissal with her hands. Kaligan stumbled away a bit, turning around in hopes of getting a word in.
âBut-â
âScram!â The woman all but growled, a rasp to her voice, and her brows furrowed. She watched with stern eyes as Kaligan scurried back up the hill, cursing up a storm, before whirling to face Amit, who jumped in slight fear (she looked a bit scary.)
She proceeded to grab him by the arm, and quite literally march him through the gate, up her garden path, and into her house.
âAre you alright?â She asked immediately, taking him by the shoulders and scanning his body. âHe didnât hurt you, did he?â
âEr, no, Iâm fine,â Amit answered, flushing slightly under her gaze.Â
Their eyes met.
Their eyes met.
Amit couldn't look away, although it felt as though he was staring right into the sun.
âI knew I shouldnât have trusted him. Blasted manâŚâ she muttered, never breaking eye contact.Â
âWell, for what it's worth, I think youâve scared him away for good.â Amit jested to lighten the mood, and she exhaled through her nose in amusement.Â
âIâm not that scary, am I?â
âYouâre terrifying.â He stated lowly.
âDo I scare you?â
Amit was far too lost in her eyes to think properly anymore.
âYou scare me a lot.â
âIs that a bad thing?â She whispered, blinking slowly.
They were awfully close now, and Amit doesnât remember leaning in. He could feel her breath fanning across his cheek.Â
âOf course not.â
Their lips met in a chaste, barely-there kiss, just a mere brush of the lips, before the man pulled away.
âOh.â
Oh, indeed. Heâd just kissed this pretty lady, the lady everyone wanted to be with, heâd kissed her, oh it was a bit much.
âOh?â Her tone was questioning; her hands were gripping his arms, just above his elbows, and Amit licked his lips nervously.
âI mean- wait, let me try that again,â and he leaned down again, closing his eyes and pressing his mouth to hers, and he felt her smile before pushing back against him, running her hands further up his arms to grip his biceps.Â
Ok, that was better.
His hands traveled down to her hips, bringing her a bit closer, and he felt her nails dig briefly into his arms.
Her tongue traced along his lower lip, and he gasped, eyelids fluttering, and then they were really kissing.
Tongue and teeth and lips sloppily merged into one, and they pushed closer against each other, as close as they could get, but she pushed forward so much he had to take several steps back, almost stumbling, and when the back of his knees hit the armchair in the corner by the empty fireplace, he almost tumbled backwards with the grace of a toad, had she not been holding him firmly and guiding him to sit. Their mouths never broke apart, not even when Amit sat with an âoofâ which was muffled against her lips, and she giggled, bending over him so that he had to strain his neck to continue kissing.
She shuffled forward, pressing his knees together and straddling his lap, palms now resting on his jaw, just below his ears, and one of his hands made its way to run up her back, the other gripping the arm of the chair.Â
The noises they were making were obscene; sloppy, sucking, slurping sounds mixed with the heavy breathing as they kissed, the little sounds made in the backs of their throats, the gentle yet desperate whisper of each otherâs names against their mouthsâŚ
Amit couldnât help chasing her lips when she pulled away, cracking his eyes open, and if his heart wasnât absolutely racing before, it definitely was now.
Her cheeks were flushed, lips slightly swollen and bruised, and he managed to catch sight of the brief string of saliva that connected their mouths before it broke and vanished.
He swallowed, adamâs apple bobbing, as he gazed up at her, and he had to admit she looked ethereal right now; the late afternoon sun shone just right through the draped window, creating a halo of light around her, and as she stared down at him intently, he thanked Merlin, the Ghost of Marley, and all things Holy that he was here to witness such a beautiful sight.
His thumbs traced circles on her hips as he watched her chest rise and fall as she panted, and his eyes trailed over her breastsâŚ
He kind of wanted to put his face between them-
Oh, what a pervert he was! He was better than that!
She wasn't, though.
She dove back down before he had time to register, and she started kissing up his jaw, down his neck, hooking a finger over his collar to pull it aside.
Amit always chose to keep his top button undone these days, especially when the summer sun beat down during the day. Allowed him to feel a bit freer, but right now it was giving her perfect access to his collarbone, and she kissed along it.
She nuzzled her face into the skin where his neck and shoulder joined, and Amit hummed and tipped his head back against the headrest of the chair. He felt her nibble at the skin, licking and sucking, running her hands up his chest, into his hair, ruffling it so it's usual neatness was ruined, making it stick up in various places.
Amit didn't mind.
Her mouth was back on his again, and their tongues fought once more. He sucked her bottom lip into his mouth, and the little noise she let out shook him to the core.
"You're so pretty," Amit muttered against her lips, squeezing her hips slightly, "a beautiful star."
She giggled, leaning back and perching on his knees, "Trust you to compare me to a star."
"Mm, I can't help it," he said in a low voice, bringing a gentle hand up to brush against her cheek, moving a lock of hair and twirling it around his finger. "You're just so beautiful. Like Cassiopeia, the Queen. She was known for her unrivalled beauty."
Off he went talking about constellations again.
"Hmm, wasn't she known for being extremely vain as well?" She questioned with a tilt of her head, chuckling as Amit gave a small smile.
"We look past that fact." He told her, blinking slowly, a rather dazed look on his face.Â
Her chuckles turned to laughter, and she let out a short squeal as she lunged forward, wrapping her arms around the man and hugging him tight.
He wrapped his own arms around her back, breathing in her sweet scent.
"Let me make you dinner," he suggested into her shoulder, "just us."
"That sounds nice." She said, not moving.

The Stars in Your Eyes
Amit Thakkar x Female!MC
Warnings: Excessive nerdy astronomy talk, MC being a bit insecure, small existential crisis (definitely not inspired by personal experienceđ
), ultra fluffiness
Word Count: 1831
Synopsis: While spending time stargazing, the pair find themselves not just admiring the stars. (You might even call them star-crossed loversâŚhehe I know it's cheesy af)
Essentially an adorable love confession between two friends. (I didnât have a specific time in mind for when this takes place, but for reference letâs just say itâs been at least around a year since the events of the game)
Authorâs Note: This is my very first attempt at writing fanfiction so any and all feedback is greatly appreciated! Iâll admit that this is a little self-indulgent as I myself love looking at and talking about Astronomy and have developed quite a soft spot for our boy Amit. Though I hope even the non-star lovers can still enjoy this! :)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
âAnd that one there is Sirius.â
âThe dog?â Squinting her eyes and adjusting her telescope, she tried to make out the constellation Amit had pointed at. As much as she enjoyed gazing at and observing the various stars and astronomical objects in the sky, she internally chuckled at her lack of skill when it came to effectively using a telescope.
âA little to the left⌠here, let meâŚâ Amit gently placed his hand over hers as he guided her to the correct spot. Adjusting it one more time, she sees the unmistakable bright collection of stars. Smiling, she looks over to Amit whoâs still staring up at the night sky.
Tonight had fortunately been a particularly clear one, allowing her to soak in the image of her moonlit friend. She admired the small smile on his lips and the way his eyes longingly gazed up at the sky, the stars twinkling reflection in them. Despite the late-night chill, she felt her face grow warm when he turned back to look at her. Quickly averting her eyes back to the telescope, she feigned being in the process of looking for another constellation.
âThank you by the way,â she whispers, not quite having the courage to meet his eyes just yet. âFor agreeing to meet me tonight. Youâve been a tremendous help, and not just in Astronomy, but in all my classes.â
The corners of his mouth turn up. âYou are most welcome. It is a pleasure to be able to help you.â He watches as she gazes at him from the corner of her eyes, her face still against the telescope.
âI only wish I could offer you more help of my own. Youâre one of my closest friends and have done so much to help me without so much as asking for anything in return.â A small sigh leaves her lips as she pulls away from the telescope to finally face him.
Amit turns his head slightly in confusion as she gives him a half-hearted smile. âAnd you are one of my closest friends,â he states. âI truly do not mind going out of my way to help you. Especially after all youâve done for me and everyone else for that matter,â he chuckles, reminiscing on the year she had arrived and when they first met.
She too smiles at the memory. âI suppose I mean I wish I could provide more academic assistance to you as you so often do to me,â she murmurs.
âNeed I remind you who is still currently the Crossed Wands Champion? You often forget that I am not nearly as gifted as you when it comes to dueling.â Taking a step towards her, he makes sure her eyes meet his as he smiles at her. âYouâre the first and only person I ever ask to help with my Defense Against the Dark Arts assignments for a reason. And not just because youâre my closest friend in that class.â
Sheepishly bowing her head a little, she does her best to continue looking into his deep brown eyes. âWell⌠thank you.â
âDonât sell yourself short. Trust me, you are an amazing witch with and without my help,â Amit said as he placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder.
The two exchanged a soft smile as both pairs of eyes slowly drifted back up to the twinkling sky. Neither spoke for a while, the only noise being the occasional cricket chirp or the distant sound of a broom flying by. The lack of conversation isnât uncomfortable though as both are content just being in the otherâs presence.
Sheâs the first to break the silence, however. âThere are⌠so many stars,â she chuckles. âNot to point out the obvious or anything, but itâs crazy when you really think about howâŚÂ insignificant we are in the grand scheme of the universe.â Amit hums in acknowledgment as the two continue staring at the endless void that sparkles above them.
âI mean⌠the universe already is unfathomably vast and coupled with the fact that itâs constantly expandingâŚâ she takes a breath, shaking her head. âIt's just unimaginable. Weâre essentially a tiny speck, no even less than that, floating along through the infinite cosmos.â
A beat of silence passed through them and Amit took the moment to turn his gaze toward her. She was still craning her neck to look up, seemingly bewitched by the thousands of lights glittering in the sky. Her mouth was slightly open and her eyes slightly glossy. She might have been standing right next to him, but the far-off look in her eyes told Amit her mind was miles away. His own eyes softened at the sight before him.
The light reflected from the moon bathed her in a light blue hue, highlighting her beautiful hair, her slightly creased forehead, and rather adorable eyebrows furrowed in concentration. Amit then felt his eyes wander down to her lips. When she wasnât speaking they formed a small yet sad smile. She suddenly stopped to look at him.
Amit felt his face heat up as he briefly looked away, slightly embarrassed at being caught staring at her. When he looked back she was looking expectantly up at him, as if waiting for a response.
âOh, I am terribly sorry, did you say something?â A faint blush dusted his cheeks as he internally cursed himself for not paying attention to what she was saying.
âNo worries,â she giggled, amused by his shy and apologetic nature. âI was just saying, do you ever feel⌠overwhelmed by the thought of everything? Of how meaningless it sometimes feels to even be here?â She looked back up. âI mean itâs utterly breathtaking donât get me wrong. I love that Iâm able to admire such beauty from right here but sometimes I think⌠if weâre so immensely small itâs honestly frightening to think about the impact of our very existence and how at the end of the dayâŚâ she paused, taking a deep breath. âDoes it even matter? Whatâs the point of it all?â
She risks another glance at Amit and is met with his eyes staring intriguingly at her own. The corners of his mouth twitch slightly as he processes what she had just said. Conversations such as this one were reminders to him of one of the many reasons he cherished her and their interactions together. Perhaps something as deep as the questions she had asked him would be alarming to some, and while he wasnât exactly expecting those words, Amit lives for moments like these. Times where he knows heâs not alone in his endless questioning of any and all things. And that sheâs comfortable enough with him to have the courage to ask.
âI wonât pretend like I know the answer any more than you do,â he says softly, taking a step toward her. âBut I will say this: whether or not our purpose-our very reason for existence has any significance beyond that of simply living a fulfilling life⌠I believe that, at the very least, there is something to be said about the impact we all make on ourselves and others.â
Amit takes another step closer to her, the pairâs eyes locked onto the other as the space between them nearly disappears. âWhile I hardly believe in luck, I do think that each one of us is lucky to be alive and here today. I think I am incredibly lucky to be where I am and at this very specific time since if I wasnât, I wouldnât know all the people I know now. IâŚâ Taking her hand, Amit gently places his forehead against hers as he closes his eyes for a moment, savoring how close the two are.
âI wouldnât know you.â Opening his eyes, heâs met with her incredibly bright ones. âI wouldnât know what itâs like to see you every day. To hear your laughter echo across the halls. I wouldnât know the warm fuzzy feeling I get whenever you ask me for help. How easy and intellectually stimulating our conversations are.â Seeing her eyes practically sparkle before him, Amit lifts his other hand and softly cups her cheek, relishing in the tiny gasp that slips past her lips.
âI wouldnât know how beautiful your eyes are, how they shine brighter than any star.â Amit feels himself swimming in those gorgeous eyes. Heâs drowning and has no intention of ever coming up for air. At last, his gaze drifts from her stunning eyes down to her lips once more. Looking back up, he searches her face for any signs of discomfort. âMay IâŚâ he whispers, hesitating slightly. âMay I kiss you?â
Still utterly entranced by his words and the way he gazes down at her, it takes her a second to process his request. But only another moment passes before she nods her head. âPleaseâŚâ
A small relieved sigh leaves Amitâs mouth as he slowly leans his head down to hers. He stops just short of her lips, feeling her breath against his face as he looks at her one more time, wordlessly asking permission just once more.
She smiles softly at his consideration and takes the opportunity to move forward herself to gently press her lips against his. Though slightly awkward at first, the kiss is delicate as the two begin to move their lips in unison.
As a steady rhythm is built, Amit gradually moves his hand from her cheek to the back of her neck, lightly pushing her further into him. With his other hand still connected with hers, he moves to lovingly intertwine their fingers while she finds purchase in lightly gripping the front of his robes.
He feels a soft groan leave his mouth when he feels the delicate trace of her tongue against his bottom lip. But before he can indulge any further, he feels her pull away for a breath, much to his dismay.
âWow,â she gasped. She took in Amitâs flushed face and imagined she was in a similar state. As the two caught their breaths they locked eyes once more, smiling at each other before erupting into a fit of giggles.
âI love you,â She breathed in between laughs. Though when Amit suddenly went silent she feared she had just scared him off. âIâŚI meanâŚâ she stuttered.
âDo you mean it?â he asked softly.
She chanced looking at him again, searching for anything in his eyes telling her she should deny it. But she was met with nothing but two deep pools of exquisite brown eyes. His eyes. The ones that seemed to look into her very soul. The ones that even now, were filled with nothing but sincerity.
âYes.â
His eyes practically lit up at her confession. Placing his hands on her hips he effectively lifted her and spun her around, cherishing in her laughter echoing through the night. Setting her back down he moved both of his hands to her face.
âI love you too, my little star.â

Hi how are you?
I don't know how this idea comes to mind but... What would boys be like with an MC who has a Plush ( A cuddly toy? I don't know how you say a " doudou" in English sorry đ
) because of stress ?
Hello love I am fantastic!!! I love this idea haha! I actually sleep with a plushy/stuffed animal every night because of my anxiety soooo I feel this lol
SEBASTIAN SALLOW: He teases you, but doesn't push it too far---he just likes to see you blush. However, all teases stopped COMPLETELY once you talk to Anne and she tells you he still sleeps with his teddy bear that he got his first Christmas, and the two of you decide to have a truce because it gets unbearable on both sides.
OMINIS GAUNT: He thinks it's cute and doesn't have a problem with it. Ok correction he has a slight problem with it, and it's that he's jealous of a stuffed animal and that's a new low for him. But he gets over it soon enough, and whenever there's a sleepover in the Undercroft he's the first to make sure you brought your plushy with you because he knows how much easier it makes it to sleep.
GARRETH WEASLEY: This little dork goes out and buys himself a stuffed animal as soon as he hears you have one, insisting that yours needs a friends. He even demands they have "playdates," which is really just an excuse to come kiss you.
AMIT THAKKAR: Like Garreth, Amit thinks your plushy seems a bit lonely. So next time the two of you are in Hogsmeade, he buys you another one. And another. And honestly your bed is so full of stuffed animals at this point you can hardly sleep on it, but you can't help loving each and every one of them because of the boy who bought them for you.

NSFW & SFW HC for Amit Thakkar

As an Ominis enjoyer and Sallow Worshipper, I adore them to death. But let me explain why Amit is so perfect for MC
SFW
The only character who doesn't ask anything of MC
Actually, in-game he only GIVES to MC.
The telescope. Assistance with Gobbledegook.
Heâs devoted to MC.
Will literally do anything for MC.
He is bitter he can't protect MC like Sebastian
So he will find other ways to help
He will take care of MC's wounds when they come back to Hogwarts
Becomes an insomniac ever since meeting MC, due to his anxiety for their safety
A hopeless romantic
Love letters, roses and expensive gifts
His affluent background means he thinks it's NORMAL to spend galleons on you
Will always await MC's return with open arms
Inside his arms is the only time MC can escape from everything terrible about their life
As MC gets dragged further into dark magic because of Sebastian,
Amit will be there to bring them back to the light.
When MC feels like they're surrounded by enemies,
he will show that compassion still exists
When MC grows desperate, and is willing to do anything to protect their friends like use the unforgivables,
Amit will be the grounding figure, leading MC with his strong moral fibre.
He shows that there are ways to care and protect your loved ones without becoming a dark wizard
Literally, Amit is the Sun to MC.
Amitâs smile is so bright, so unbroken and untouched by the cruelty of the world
(Sorry Sebastian, Ominis, Natty, Poppy but we all see your pained smile)
MC will do anything to stay in his innocent world
Amit will shed light on the darkest corners of MC's broken heart.
And bring them back to the light whatever the cost.
Amit will compare MC to his moon.
He says MC "outshines every star in the night sky."
As much as MC outshines everyone, a moon cannot shine without a star.
He is in disbelief that he gets to have something so special all for himself.
And he will always remember that as he treats you with utmost love and adoration.
He will treat you like a literal star, plucked from the night sky that he gets to keep for himself.
NSFW
He IS possessive and a soft dom.
MC thought he was just a shy boy who needs to be led at all times.
But my god MC was mistaken. He was just raised very strictly to treat women with utmost respect and gentleness,
So he's learned to restrain any of his urges.
He was hesitant at first to display any desires for fear of scaring off MC or being rude.
Displays the amazing self-control that he was raised to have at all times.
He may be inexperienced and shy at first.
But once he gets comfortable, and learns that itâs okay to want MC, he will unleash everything.
His curious Ravenclaw ass wants to study MC.
MC's every moan. What works for them. What doesn't.
Everything is about MC.
He will go down on MC until they're shaking underneath him.
Smiling softly down at them as they have their fourth orgasm.
When MC starts to beg they can't take it anymore, Amit will tilt his head.
And gives the most charming smile as he asks "Your body seems to be begging otherwise,"
As he glances down at MC's core still pulling him in.
Studies everything about sex to please MC.
Reads up on Kama Sutra as he furiously blushes and tries to hide behind the pages.
Will literally train himself to last longer and come back quicker for round 2 and 3 so he can give MC the pleasure they deserve
---
There WILL be other guys who underestimate Amit and approach MC.
Sebastian offering his scarf to MC because it's cold.
Amit will somehow always find MC in dicey situations and intervene before things escalate.
"Thank you, Sebastian,"
Amit will smile, but his eyes are narrowed into threatening slits.
"But I can take care of MC just fine.â
Rest assured, he would later be taking MC in the Room of Requirement in a domineering display of possessiveness.
His favourite position is missionary.
Snaking his fingers with MCâs as he whispers how adorable MC looks underneath him
His favourite part is seeing a side of MC nobody else has seen before.
The fact that he gets to have their moans, their euphoric expressions, their incoherent babble all to himself
It ignites something he's never felt before
On particularly stressful days, when MC gets distracted by anxious thoughts about exams, ancient magic, etc.,
Amit will pound even faster, deeper, and rougher until MC can't think of anything but him
He pouts, "I want you to be thinking about just me."
He'll smile contently when MC begins to mutter his name like a mantra, knowing they're close.
Making MC come and forget everything is a massive ego-boost for him.
Thank you for coming to my ted talk. Based on the fic 太é˝ă¨ć, which has thrusted me fully into Amit phase.

hi can you do touch starved amit smut where mc is playfully teasing and trying to get a rise outta him but heâs struggling to restrain himself (aka trying his best to keep up the model student persona BUT ITâS IMPOSSIBLE TO WHEN MC IS HOLDING HIS HAND)
This is my first ever attempt at Amit in any context, and we're going fluffy with a dash of fluster. I hope you like it (or at least it doesn't completely suck)
"You're rather good at this, you know."
She is. Amit thinks he'd tell her she was even if she wasn't - he thinks he'd tell her a lie and hope it encourages something in her for the love of the thing. But she really does have the knack for it; she licks her lips and angles the telescope, and there's something breathless that hitches in his chest.
"Am I? I feel like I'm botching it," she scowls, one eye closed. She seems to squint down the lens like it's mocking her, a bit; she angles it to the side, twisting the focus in a way that makes Amit's fingers twitch to help her, just so.
"You just need to twist it a bit," he licks his lips; a shiver running down his spine. He's compelled to touch her hand - something inside him is pulled towards it intrinsically. Something wonderful and brilliant and...strange, somehow.
A complex sort of gravity.
So when she reaches for his instead; oh. Oh.
That's...
"Help me out?" she murmurs with a gentle smile, her fingers locking to pull his towards the telescope. Amit feels like he's being guided - dragged - and his heart pulses at speeds unknown. A force too bright to be controlled.
"Oh--oh! Of course. Calibration is...it's an art, after all."
She's careful when she guides his hand to the eyepiece; angles it just so. Her fingers are softer than he imagined. Not that he's imagined them, of course.
He isn't some--
He just--
Oh dear.
She very well might kill him.
(He isn't sure he minds.)

hogwarts legacy headcanons + imagines: how they fell for you and how they ended up asking you out
ft. sebastian, ominis, garreth, and amit with gn!reader
themes: a lot of fluff, sfw, slight crack lmao idk
warning: not proofread; unedited
masterlist
sebastian sallow
he will most likely (and unknowingly) dig his own grave by "harmlessly" calling you pet names and not-so-subtly flirt with you the moment you manage to catch his attention
how did you catch his attention? when he finds you sneaking in the restricted section when he himself was also sneaking into the same place (spiderman meme moment lmao)
contrary to popular belief, he's probably not flirty to most people, preferring to hit the books and practice his spell-casting. the people he wouldn't mind snogging or more though? hmmmmmm
then there's you, who's astonishingly immune to his charm and suave words. he finds that alluring but in actual reality, you're probably just too unassuming to realize he's making moves
he most likely fell for you either the moment you whooped his ass during a duel, or when you effectively saved his ass in some way from either battling spiders, poachers, or goblins
he didn't realize it at first though, until it slowly started to sink in that spending time with you gives him some sort of addicting glee deep down
that's when he realized that he can't mess around anymore with the casual pet names and flirting, so he stops doing those the moment he becomes aware of his feelings
he tries playing it cool regardless along with denying his feelings. he settles for that painful pining, however (damn that crucio must've done something to him to push through with this sort of pain--)
ominis would've probably smacked him in the head for being an oaf and overcomplicating things for himself
but just as he's not so subtle with his flirting tendencies, it's the same with his jealousy and shattered ego
"leander wants to invite who out for a date?!"
"(y/n). i overheard him and weasley talking about asking (y/n) out for a date later in hogsmeade. don't see why that should matter much to you though," ominis shrugs, casually popping a flavored bean into his mouth.
"it's leander for merlin's sake! leander fucking prewett - the mandrake-looking moonmind who lost to me multiple times in a duel!" sebastian hissed, angry jealousy and disbelief evident in his tone.
"oh i see what's going on now."
"the last time i checked, you're blind, ominis."
"i'll pretend you didn't say that, sebastian. but least leander prewett isn't on the verge of stealing my significant other."
"they're not my significant other-"
"oh, but you want them to be. how about you stop lying to yourself and just ask (y/n) out before he does? simple solution for a simple problem, unless you want prewett to do it first."
sebastian stormed off, heading towards a confused-looking (y/n) while ominis was smirking triumphantly.
he "forgot" to tell sebastian he was just pulling his leg. whoops.
"you. me. three broomsticks. today. after class."
ominis gaunt
we all know he's baby, but boy he's really snarky at first and you were kinda scared of him
you've probably been crushing on him since the first day you met him despite his bark (bitch pls who wouldn't be?)
everyone in your year is hyper aware of your crush towards him 'coz they actually see what you do for him in secret whenever you could (such as countering any hex or jinx his older siblings would try to cast at him in hallways when they were still students in hogwarts)
you didn't really want to offend him in any way hence the secrecy of your actions. he's rather adamant that he can handle it all on his own, but you just do it voluntarily as an act of love.
during potions class is when you look out for him the most. when you weren't in the same table as him, you'd adjust the flame for him using your wand from a considerably long distance whenever you noticed that weird swirls were coming out of his cauldron.
professor sharp noticed this eventually, so he ends up assigning you to the same table as ominis every school year primarily for safety reasons (or maybe he finds the one-sided pining rather painful to look at)
you were more open with giving your help to him from that point onwards, telling him if he grabbed the wrong ingredient, handing him over things, if the potion looks wrong, etc.
ominis' grades in potions improved thanks to you!
he shares his treats with you and occasionally teaches you new spells in the undercroft as a form of reciprocation
little do you know, ominis actually knows what you've been doing all these years. he just doesn't feel he deserves someone as kind as you are, much to sebastian's chagrin watching the both of you pine for each other
he always has been rather attracted with how gentle and caring you are (i mean, you did prevent his cauldron from exploding at his face at several points), and he fell more overtime as he got to know you. he's just extremely subtle about how he shows his feelings.
"seems like i'm running low on ingredients," ominis mutters, shaking his nearly empty jar of crushed moonstone.
"we have been using alot of them lately, haven't we? i'm running out of quite a lot of ingredients too actually," you said.
now's definitely ominis' chance.
"how about we go to hogsmeade later after class to buy the ingredients? and perhaps have some butterbeer or go to honeydukes after. my treat. if you don't mind, that is."
your face burned at this. he asked you out. merlin, he actually fucking asked you out.
"s-sure! i'd be glad to. l-let's meet at the bell tower entrance later! see you!" you sputtered rather embarrassingly as you gathered your things before scampering off to your next class. a faint smile and a blush graces ominis' usually stoic expression.
"would you look at that. you finally had the guts to ask her out on a date," sebastian drawls, elbowing lightly at ominis' rib.
ominis scowled, his face flushing dark red both in embarrassment and annoyance, earning a teasing chortle from his brunette-haired best friend.
garreth weasley
you're both partners-in-crime: best friends since childhood to be precise
however, this dork initially sees you more as a gorilla than an actual human being *monke noises*
you can't blame garreth though - you both went through the childhood stages together and he's so comfortable with your presence and vice-versa
despite your mischief with him and both of you landing yourselves in detention quite often, you've actually roped him out of trouble several times from flunking his grades. surprisingly you're pretty smart for a troublemaker
gryffindor loses alot of their house points mostly because of you two especially during potions class
thanks to the both of you, a cauldron lid lodged itself to the ceiling of the potions classroom after a huge explosion. professor sharp has never removed it as a grim reminder of both of your "shameful" behavior during class (or perhaps he was actually amused by the incident). both of you got a week's worth of detention from that as well.
special mention to garreth completely burning off one of sebastian's eyebrows (a/n: watch this tiktok for the context)
how garreth realized he loves you: partner-in-crime? check. loves your personality? check. will probably die if you're not around? double check. he hates being away from you? CHECK. he would do all sorts of things to make you happy? check. you're an actual human being? surprisingly, after careful evaluation and contemplation, check.
and then realization dawns upon him that all this time, he's been in love with his best friend for years and counting. however out of fear of ruining the friendship, he decides not to confess
potions class - your absolute favorite. garrett, however, isn't looking particularly excited today - he absolutely dreads today's particular lesson: amortentia - the love potion.
garrett was determined to stay out of trouble today. getting professor sharp's attention is the worst thing that could possibly happen. unfortunately, violent sparks flew from his cauldron after he accidentally dropped his whole bottle of powdered moonstone due to his jitters.
"ah, perfect. mr weasley, please come up here. instead of blowing up another cauldron yet again, perhaps you should tell us what you smell?"
"a-ah. right, sir. um.. i smell..."Â
garreth took a whiff. his senses went into full overdrive as a familiar, comforting array of scents engulfed him. long story short: his brain short-circuited.
â... (y/n)!â he blurted out of pure nervousness, causing an eruption of gasps and wolf whistles while you flushed pink at his sudden and rather public confession. garreth was absolutely mortified upon realizing what had happened as he rushed back to his station. as soon as potions classes ended, you approach garreth who was looking dejected.
"garreth, i-"
"yes, (y/n). i've loved you since we were kids-"
"wait. let me-"
"i know it took too long for me to realize-"
"garreth-"
"but it was always you and i got scared-"
he was cut off from rambling any further as you gave him a peck on the lips. the ginger-haired male was stunned, whispering an "oh" in realization as he slowly beamed.
"faculty tower after class? let's go to honeydukes."
you smiled, nodding in agreement.
amit thakkar
oh boy, where do i even start with this one
long story short: it was love at first sight for him
but with how skittish he gets especially when he's around you? he avoids you like the plague to avoid making a fool out of himself
you bring out his dreamy, poetic side
he's a writer, so he secretly writes poems and stories about you as an outlet to express his love in some way
he keeps those several pieces of parchment sandwiched in between his thick books. whenever he secretly gets bored of the class, that's when he starts writing down those little (and unfortunately unsent) love notes
but alas, he can't avoid you forever. you were both assigned in pairs to map out several star charts for your astronomy class
he discovers that you do have a fascination for the cosmos just as he does, and that you're an avid listener to his enthusiastic ramblings about the said topic
eventually he starts to be more comfortable around you
he was content with this platonic set up actually - just you and him chilling under the night sky. hell, he feels lucky to be even graced by your presence
however, all hell broke loose because of everett clopton teasing him after he found one of his romantic literary snippets, thus resulting in the unconsented confession of his feelings towards you
amit has been avoiding you eversince that incident after charms class with everett clopton reciting one of his cheesy poems about you after taking his charms textbook without his permission. in a fit of embarrassment, he actually ran out of the classroom, ignoring your calls. for once, he didn't care about his time table, opting to retreat himself to his favorite corner at the library's 2nd floor as a means of consoling himself with the peaceful silence.
lately all he does is to drown out his racing thoughts by either reading one of his more complicated books or burying himself with extra work. humiliation aside, he really didn't know how to face you now. he thinks he has permanently lost you even as a platonic friend, and that's what crushed him the most about the situation.
he failed to notice the soft footsteps approaching him as he buried his nose behind a book once more.
"amit?"
he jolted up at the sound of your voice calling him and the both of you stared at each other in silence briefly. you were visibly rather nervous, playing with the dry skin of your fingertips - a mannerism amit had noted that you did whenever you get nervous.
"about charms class-"
"(y/n), don't worry about it. we don't have to-"
"no, please let me finish."
amit stilled, listening attentively.
"i got the book from everett when you rushed out of the classroom. i'm sorry, but i did read some of the other notes. but you have no idea how happy i was when i read them, amit."
you took a step forward, finally mustering enough courage to take his hand lovingly - a shy gesture of proclaiming your adoration towards him.
"could you make more of them, please? for me?"
it took a second or two for your rather cryptic confession to sink in. but the moment it did, amit was brimming with so much happiness he could burst anytime in that moment, wide smiles and all.
"yes, of course. but only after a date with you."

By Design
A short fluff for Amit đ loosely based on Mastermind by Taylor Swift
MC plans a an outing that they secretly hoped to turn into a date. Once they are alone, Amit is not quite as shy as MC anticipated. The plans get slightly derailed.
gender neutral. no specific house. 1.2k words.
.â¨đâ¨
âIâve found another astronomy table!â You had popped up seemingly out of nowhere in the halls to inform Amit of your findings. He jumped back at your sudden appearance and took a second to register your words since you had cut the formal greetings out of excitement.
âThatâs wonderful! Is it close by? Iâd love to visit.â
âAh, well, you see, I came across it while doing some work near the coast. The flight is a bit far, but if we left Friday after classes, we should make it by nightfall!â
Amitâs shoulders sank. âOh. I donât have a broom.â
For some reason, this information made your eyes brighten. You were quick to offer, âRide on the back of mine!â
âI- thatâs-,â clearly flustered with the idea, Amit stuttered over his words and nervously fiddled with the book tucked under his arm. âThatâs very kind of you, but itâs a very long flight. I would not want to make you uncomfortable.â
âIf you donât mind it, I donât either. Itâs for the sake of discovery, right?â
âRight!â
âMeet me near Summonerâs Court after classes Friday, and weâll head off,â you declared before Amit could find an excuse out of it. As you left, you called over your shoulder, âWear something warm! Flying at night can be brutal!â
Thatâs how you ended up flying over the Scottish Highlands with Amitâs arms wrapped tightly around your stomach. The warmth of his body pressed against your back was entrancing in the brisk air of nightfall. His cheek was pressed against your shoulder nearly the moment you rose in the air.
âSorry if Iâm holding you too tight. Flying is not my forte,â he admitted.
You were lucky he couldnât see your mischievous smile. Before inviting him, you had heard he wasnât too keen on flying. That may or may not have been the exact reason you suggested taking a broom instead of the train. Thankfully, he hadnât thought of the latter option himself. Or if he did, he didnât suggest it.
âHold on as tight as you need to. Youâre warm. It feels lovely. I just might steal you for all my flights in the future.â
It was nearly dark by the time you landed at the astronomy table. Sat on top of a cliff that jutted out over the roaring waters below, it was the perfect place for what you had planned. The salty air felt refreshing as it breezes through your hair. Amit took a second to find his footing on the ground before setting up his telescope.
âThis place is remarkable!â He complimented. His hair had blown every which way during the flight, and now strands were shaking out and falling in his eyes.
âYes. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to bring you here.â
Things were all going accordingly. The flight was void of any Ashwinder intrusions, Amit was loving the scenery, and you landed with enough light still in the sky to set up the picnic you packed from the kitchens.
Amit helped you lay out one of the blankets and complimented you on how thoughtful this all was. Since the two of you left before dinner, you knew having a quick bite here might be your only option.
Or you could have landed at any small pub scattered about the Highlands, but where is the fun in that?
âThis one is for us,â you told him as you unfolded the second blanket. âCan be a bit chilly up on these cliffs.
âIt is,â Amit agreed before realizing what you intended to do with the blanket. His eyes went wide when you threw it over his shoulders as well as your own. Your hand reached across his chest to tug the far corner in closer around him. His cheeks felt very warm, and it was not from the blanket. âOh.â
âIs this all right?â
âOf course.â
âItâs for the sake of discovery,â you joked.
The picnic basket was filled to the brim with options. The house-elves had been excited to help out when you told them what you were planning. You dragged it closer on the blanket until it hit your and Amitâs knees. âDig in! Weâll need the energy for the flight back.â
But his eyes werenât on the food. A piece of your hair had fallen over your face with all the shifting in the blanket. His hand timidly reached out tucking the hair back into place. Afterward, he froze as if he had realized what he had done.
You too felt frozen in place. The drumming of your heart sped up. The last thing you expected to happen was for your sweet friend Amit to be the one to make a move, which was why you planned this whole night so meticulously. You were working up to something like this, of course, but it wasnât meant to happen until after you searched the stars. You were going to brush his hair out of the way and then lean in. That was meant to be your move.
âSorry,â he whispered as he withdrew his hand, âYouâre hair, it-â
âAmit?â
âYes?â
âItâs true I thought of you when I found this place, and I wanted to show you the stars, but. . . Thatâs not the only reason I brought you here.â
âDo you need more help with the goblins?â He assumed.
âNo, heavens no. Amit, I would never put you in harm's way ever again. You donât deserve that. You deserve all this!â You gestured to the sea. âAnd so much more.â
Amit stared out at the waters for a moment before deciding, âI donât need all of that. Your company is enough. Whether it is behind enemy lines or on seaside cliffs. Itâs all I want.â
Again, his confessions floors you. This night you had planned to tell him how you felt, but here he was beating you to it.
âYouâre all I want as well.â
Your words caused him to blush deeply. He looked as though he was having an internal battle of sorts which made you regret your admission. Had he not meant his words to be taken that way? Were you reading this all wrong?
âMay I kiss you?â His whisper was so quiet over the rush of the sea that you thought for a moment you had misheard him or made it up entirely.
You must have used all your courage up earlier to flirt because now you felt tongue-tied and embarrassingly small. All you could manage out was, âPlease.â
He leaned in as if on your command, gently pressing his lips over yours with an uncertain chaste. The moment you pushed back, he relaxed. His hand found its way to cradle your cheek, guiding you closer.
Your hand landed on his shoulder in an effort to balance yourself. Despite sitting on the ground, your world felt tilted. Everything around you seemed to swirl in a haze of butterflies and warmth which was odd since the blanket slumped from each of you during your movements. The wind of the cliffs should have been intense, but all you could sense was Amitâs fingers finding themselves lost in the hairline of your neck.
When he finally pulled away, his eyes scanned your face with shocked confusion as if he was trying to convince himself this was all real.
Sounding breathless from it all, you asked, âDid you want to look at the stars now?â
âIn a moment. Iâm not quite done looking at you.â

Nightly Rounds (Amit Thakkar x Hufflepuff!Reader)
When Amit got appointed as Head Boy, he was absolutely thrilled. He'd worked so hard, bless him, and he got a fancy title!
But where there's a Head Boy, there's a Head Girl.
And who'd be more fitting than the graceful, intelligent, beautiful Hufflepuff who came crashing into his life in their first year.
He'd be pleased with this factâŚ
If she wasn't his enemy.
They'd had it out for each other since they met. As nice as she was, she had one hell of a fiery temper, and the amount of snarky remarks he'd received over the years was record breaking.
He'd grown used to her comments, and even gained enough courage to start firing them right back at her.
It never got physical (thank Merlin), but it was mostly sneers and scoffs while passing in corridors, maybe a glare-off from opposite ends of a classroom on occasion.
In summary, they didnât get on well. And now they were forced to work with each other.
Joy.
âŚ.
Amit quite liked doing his nightly rounds of the school. It was silent, apart from the occasional grunt from a portrait, or a crash from the path of destruction Peeves always left. Sometimes it was a bit eerie; sometimes the silence was too loud. But, Amit enjoyed it nonetheless; peace and quiet.
Heâd taken up his position outside the library, scanning the corridors of the Faculty Tower, when who should catch his eye but the Head Girl, who was leaning against a bannister and looking rather spiteful. Her pretty mouth was drawn into a bow, a brow raised.
Amit felt his blood pressure rise just a smidge.
âOh, good,â he breathed, suddenly very tired.
âSame to you.â The girl shot back, kicking off the bannister and striding toward him. âWhat are you doing here?â
âIâm standing watch, as I usually do, you should know that.â Amit answered simply, gritting out the last line.
âWell, you should know that Iâve been stationed here for the week, which means you can kindly leave.â She gestured down the corridor, motioning for him to leave.
Amit decided he wasnât going to budge.Â
âI, in fact, did not know this information, which gives me the impression that youâve just made it up.â He folded his arms and narrowed his eyes, watching the Hufflepuff put her hands on her hips.
âThen youâre not as intelligent as you say you are, princess.â She sneered, and Amit rolled his eyes; âprincessâ had become his nickname after she saw him once in their third year shrieking like a girl while getting chased by an angry flock of Cornish Pixies. Sheâd hollered and laughed so hard that day she quite literally collapsed to the floor in a fit of giggles, calling him a âdamsel in distressâ, which only embarrassed Amit further. And thus, the name stuck.
âThere was a notice sent out with the rotors this morning,â she continued, ignoring his eye roll, âclearly youâre little Ravenclaw brain didnât pay attention.â
âIf there was a rotor, I would know.â He stated firmly, uncrossing his arms and taking a step forward with clenched fists.
Youâd think by now that heâd stop letting her get under his skin, but there was just something soâŚÂ infuriating about her. She was always there, corridors, classrooms, Great Hall, even the Owlery, he just couldnât get her out of his head!
Wait.
He couldnât get rid of her. Yes, thatâs what he meant. Itâs not like he always thought about herâŚ
The stars had to take up some part of his brain too!
Regardless, he glared down at her as she looked smugly up at him, and he knew she was getting a kick out of seeing him frustrated, but he didnât look away.
(He couldnât look away.)
âYou seem to overestimate your knowledge, Thakkar,â she wound on, also taking a step forward. They were very much in each otherâs personal spaces now but they didnât seem to care, instead choosing to be quite rude to one another.
â Please, my knowledge far exceeds yours, and you know it.â He shot back.
Their eyes bored into each otherâs, and now it was a competition of will; who will look away first?
âKeep telling yourself that, princess.â
âOh, will you shut up with that ridiculous name!âÂ
âMake me!â
Now, Amit couldnât really tell you why he did what he did; maybe it was the close proximity of the pair; perhaps it was pure rage;
Perhaps she really did consume most of his thoughts.
In a fit of⌠(weâre not sure. Rage? Frustration? Adoration with a touch of madness?)
In a fit of adoration with a touch of madness, Amit grabbed the Hufflepuff Head Girl by the shoulders and quite literally smashed his mouth to hers. She let out a noise similar to âhmph!â before bringing her hands up to grab the sides of his robes and pushing back by standing on her tiptoes.
Their eyes were still open, and they stared at each other as they kissed, and this only made them more furious in their actions; her tongue tickled his bottom lip, making his eyelids flutter, but he granted her entry all the same.Â
Her hands gripped onto his side tighter, which made him drag his own hands up her shoulders, past her neck, resting them on her jaw, pulling her closer in the process. In response, she wrapped her arms around his neck, and now they were impossibly close, joined at the mouth, licking at each other's tongues.
He couldnât help it; he gave in; he closed his eyes first.
Now this- this was an awfully intimate thing to be doing with one's mortal enemy. But when youâre enamoured by their beauty and actually quite flattered by all the attention they give you⌠well, thereâs your excuse.Â
Footsteps echoed through the corridor.
The rate in which the pair separated was quick enough to break the sound barrier. They practically jumped apart, gasping and panting slightly, glancing around for the source of the noise.
Amit failed to notice the Hufflepuff staring alarmedly at his mouth, and was startled when she grabbed his wrist and dragged him under the staircase, pushing him against the wall and out of sight.Â
âWait, why am I hiding? Iâm Head Boy.â He whispered urgently, and he noticed just how small the crevice was, and just how hard her hand was pressed against his chest; her fingers balled briefly into a fist, clutching the fabric of his robe, before drawing back.
âWell, princess, I hate to inform you that youâre absolutely covered in lipstick, and I do not want anyone getting the wrong idea.â She whispered hurriedly back, before stepping backwards in hopes of looking relatively relaxed and totally not suspicious at all.
Professor Sharp limped up the stairs, catching sight of the Head Girl and bowing his head in greeting.
âGood evening, Professor,â she said cheerfully, watching him as he pulled his way up the next flight of stairs.
âHeâs in a good mood,â Amit commented briefly, sarcasm dripping from his tone, before peeling away from the wall and rushing out of the hiding place, and giving another quick scan of the corridors.
Silence.Â
âDidnât think you had it in you, Thakkar,â the Hufflepuff chuckled, pulling a handkerchief out of her robe and handing it to him. He took it and began wiping his mouth.
âIâm covered in your lipstick, please donât call me by my last name.â He mumbled, glancing at the hankie which was, indeed, covered in pink smudges.Â
âWhat, prefer âprincessâ?â She quipped, taking the white cloth back and holding his chin with her thumb and forefinger, wiping the last bits of makeup away. âI know I do.â
âYou would, because youâre insufferable. And honestly, I didnât know I had it in me either.â
âThen whyâd you kiss me?â
âBecause you told me to make you shut up. So I did. Didnât work thoughâŚâ
âHa! Of course it didnât, youâve known me long enough to know that something as little as that wonât end my behaviour.â
âThen what if I did it again?â
âOoh, Amit Thakkar, I had no idea you were such a womaniser!â
âI-Iâm not! I justâŚâ
âYou just?â
âNevermind.â Amit shook his head, feeling a flush creep up his neck.
âYou just?â She repeated, tilting her head with a knowing smile that made his stomach flip. He swallowed, glancing around, eyes coming to rest on the door to the Prefectâs bathroom.
She followed his eyeline, before turning sharply back to him, a smirk plastered across her pretty face. Quick as a flash, she grabbed his hand and started pulling him toward the door.
Amit followed like a lost puppy, but paused at the door.
âWait, weâre supposed to be on the night rounds out there.â
âYou are, you were right, I was making it up.â She quipped, batting her eyelashes.
Amit gasped exasperatedly.
âYou-â
He was cut off by her dragging him down and kissing him full on the mouth once more, letting the door swing shut behind them.
