alternians of tumblr! i have an announcement your gonna wanna hear :3
im making a history book of OUR STORIES!!!! Our lives, the way they actually went, not the way Homestuck told them. Of course, somethings about us had to be changed to make the audience more engaged and/or comfortable. We are aliens after all. But i want to give us the chance to tell our real stories. No changes, no beating around the bush. It will (hopefully) be in both English and Alternian, and will likely be a public (public to view, mine to edit) Google doc! Send your story into my ask box if you want in, reblog to spread the news, and tag your friends if you want!

AU where the entire old mondstadt gang gets revived into modern (as in version 4.4 give or take) teyvat. Nb and venti are absolutely overjoyed to see eachother again, gunnhildr and jean have an “:D twinsies!!!!!!!” moment, diluc has to take a few seconds to comprehend that the redhaired warrior is not in fact his dad (genetics is one thing but those two look nearly identical), and amos is off somewhere teaching amber and razor how to hunt. everything is going great until the traveler reports to venti a few days later that they can’t do their weekly dvalin bossfight because someone keeps arguing with him and occupying the domain (deca comes along too but the only reason no one knew is because he was too busy trying to negotiate who lives in the tower and how)
This is all wonderful but consider this: Decarabian is just laying on the floor of the boss fight and Dvalin is just. "TRAVELER PLEASE MOVE HIM. I THINK HE'S DEAD. HE HASN'T MOVED IN .... A WEEK OR SO"
Dvalin has no context on who this guy is. He smells kinda like Barbatos but why is just???? Laying down???? He could feel the sadness emanating from the guy and its Really killing the vibe.
The old Mondstadt and new Mondstadt team barge into the tower battle ready and are "..." when he's not even attempting to fight.
Deca is just in shock and has been processing things. For instance apparently his entire city hates him???? And then they tried to murder him???? And.... and they succeeded. He could feel ever speck of light inside him fade away. His citizens murder him. Amos murderes him. They set fire to the tower and killed him.
So many emotions are going through his head. Sadness. Bitterness. Fear for his citizens. Anger. All the stages of grief and betrayal!!!
Also theres a giant dragon here now and a blonde person with a talking toddler trying to swordfight. Huh. This might as well be happening.

you know i must have been bone-tired when this part of the herb brides lore didn't come to my mind when i discussed how the Kin fundamentally differs from the cultures it is inspired by um There Is The Human Sacrifice part. like it's an important part of pathologic 2 that you are doing human, or anthropomorphic (if you want to see the Herb Brides as closer to spirits, which comes with its own set of problematics regarding how to approach their oppression) sacrifice. it's an important part of pathologic 2 that you kill a woman, as part of the journey and in direct resonance with you ritualistically killing cattle earlier, and she offers herself to you with cultural and religious significance.
human sacrifices have been done across the globe for millennia, but i cannot, for the life of me, find any source at all that mentions the Buryats (since that was the discussion point) partaking in human sacrifices by the turn of the 19th-early 20th century (or even anything past the 16th). every single source mentioning offerings and sacrifices i've read mentions animals, things such as milk and vodka, and often both at once. would love to read anything about these rituals if papers exist, but i'm personally drawing a blank.
the Kin has Obvious and very Visible influences but it also differs from specific (in this discussion's case, the Buryats) or wider (here, turkic/mongolic as a whole) cultures from the area by so many pieces, big and small, that i wouldn't have enough appendages on my whole body to count them all. and sister. i have plenty of appendages.

AMBASSADOR QUESTIONS - OPEN
@saiyanandproud asked: Reputation, Culture, Religion?
“My apologies, Mariko. But Lord Cooler is away at the moment. He is attending a meeting with King Chao of Stifryr, and will not be back for a while. Nevertheless, allow me to answer your questions on behalf of our Lord,” Salza said to the young Earthling, temporarily glancing from his system screen as he regarded her with a nod, before looking back to his work and speaking without any break to his stride.
“I’m almost certain Isa has probably mentioned her home of Arcos to you. The Arcosian race is a proud one, determined to prove their strength above all else. Isa is an excellent example of that, with her skill of diplomacy and political etiquette having vastly improved since she has joined us. She will serve the Planet Trade Organization quite well,” the Brench remarked with a proud tone, gladdened by the growth of his protégé. “And if you are not careful, she will surpass you, Mariko. Even with Lord Cooler’s teachings, an Earthling can only go so far, while an Arcosian can overcome every limitation possible. No race can ever hope to match their power and adaptability.”
He paused only for a moment, fingers clacking against the keyboard as he set a new course for the mothership, before continuing to speak. “From what I learned, their culture and beliefs are quite intertwined. Ancient Arcos once believed in various Gods pertaining to their cold climate and wildlife, but eventually came to regard their ancestors worship of them as barbaric,” though Lord Cooler had never said why, the blond Brench had a sneaking suspicion that his Lord’s ancestors having met with Lord Beerus quickly curbed the notion of their planet being home to any sort of god. Of course, they would never worship a deity outside their planet either. They were much too proud to do that, even if Lord Beerus was the universal God of Destruction.
“Instead, they turned to honoring their ancestors themselves. Veneration of the dead: acknowledging the accomplishments of their ancestor, looking to them for wisdom, and honoring both the living and dead through continuous familial piety. Family on Arcos is considered very sacred, Mariko—to them, everything you do must bring honor your family. To dishonor your clan is shameful, and to slay one’s kin is considered a grievous sin. That is, unless it is your kin who has shamed your family, at which they are either disowned or marked for death. Their name wiped from history. Forgotten through time,” Salza explained, his typing coming to an end as he closed down the screen. He turned from his seat to fully face the young soldier, resting his hands on his knees and turning his amber eyes onto her. “Truthfully, there is more complexity to it that someone outside of Arcos could not fully convey, so it is best if you ask Isa more on the matter. Nonetheless, I hope my answers are satisfactory.”

hey, is it okay if i get a divination about what my life was like as an ancestor on alternia? im not,, really sure what kind of divination would be best for this, so,,,, do whatever yall would like or would be most conveniant! -paroxi
I’m on it! I’ll use this spread and my Homestuck Kickstarter deck if that’s ok with you!
———————————–
First Card: Human Kingdom: Where you have begun, what you were raised on, and the origins of this creation.
I got the reversed Queen of Wands, which symbolizes a domineering woman, vengeful, obstinate, and fickle. You were raised in a harsh environment, and your peers possibly bullied you. They made life extremely difficult, and they refused to change their ways. You wished to seek revenge on them, which may have been a catalyst for the rest of your life.
———————————–
Second Card: Troll Kingdom: What will challenge you, and how you will learn and grow from it.
I got the reversed Nine of Pentacles, which symbolizes the risk of theft, canceled projects, loss of home and friendships, and the need for caution. As a result of enacting your vengeance, you lost the connections of those close to you and had a target on your back. It’s possible that you killed a highblood, putting you in even more danger. You lost your home and your job and had to learn how to adapt.
———————————–
Third Card: Carapace Kingdom: How will you get there? Who will aide you? What path will you take?
I got the upright Nine of Swords, which symbolizes despair, sorrow, nightmares, grief, death, delay, disappointment, deception, and miscarriage. You really went through some absolute lows as you made your journey. Emotions were high and full of sadness, possibly fueled by the death of one of the few people you could trust. You only had yourself to rely on after their passing, but you did get through it.
———————————–
Fourth Card: Consort Kingdom: What are the rewards waiting for you at the end of this journey? What do you have to look forward to?
I got the upright Ace of Pentacles, which symbolizes financial and material increase, stability, security, practicality, material comfort, and physical beauty. At the end of it all, you were finally able to achieve peace and comfort! You were safe and well-off, and your happiness increased. This may have been due in part to finding a good relationship with someone higher on the hemospectrum than you who could love you the way you were and support you!
———————————–
I hope this helps you. Let me know if it helps!
