The ancient ruins of Puma Punku in Bolivia feature massive, precisely cut stone blocks that defy explanation. Some believe advanced lost technology鈥攐r even extraterrestrial influence鈥攑layed a role in their construction. How did an ancient civilization achieve such engineering marvels? If you enjoy this video, please like it and share it. Don't forget to subscribe to this channel for more updates. Please note that the information presented in this video is for entertainment purposes only and should not be interpreted as a professional opinion. Underground of the Colosseum where the caged animals were stored the night before the games; where the Gladiators walked out or appeared to the crowds; where magic was created... Gravestone of a woman named Phila.
She was clearly a member of the affluent upper classes, as indicated by the scale of the setting in which she sits; the elaborate clothing she wears; and the small scale of her servants/slaves.
The wreath at the top of the gravestone indicates that she was a generous benefactor during her lifetime.
Manufactured circa 150 BCE in Smyrna, modern Turkey.

Marble gravestone featuring two doves and a loutrophoros (water carrier), inscribed with the names of two men (on the verso I assume, as there was no inscription visible on the side that could be viewed at the exhibit) named Melanthes and Menalkes. The loutrophoros are thought to have been used to fill a brides bath, but they were also offered at the graves of unmarried men.
Real talk that the guide avoids - men in exclusive relationships with each other are attested in Athens. It isn鈥檛 far fetched to suggest that these two were a couple.
Made and found in Attika, around 400 BCE.
From the British Museum.

The Archelaos Relief.
Marble honorary stele probably in honour of a victorious poet.
The upper registers represent the gods - Zeus at the top, on his right, the muse Mnemosyne, while the other muses are ranged below.
The poet appears in the middle register at far right. He has a tripod (not visible in this photo), the usual trophy of victory. Apollo is in the cave with the kithara.
Inscriptions along the bottom identify those appearing in the bottom register:
On the left, Oikoumene (the inhabited world) and Kronos are crowning Homer, who is flanked by two figures that represent the Illiad and the Odyssey.聽
The rest of the register is filled with a scene of sacrifice dedicated to the heroised Homer. The worshippers are personficiations of myth, history, poetry, tragedy and comedy, along with nature, excellence, memory, faith and wisdom.
There was a sanctuary dedicated to Homer in Alexandria, and this stele was most likely made there around 210 BCE.
The stele is signed by Archelaos of Priene.
Found in Bovillae, Lazio, Italy.

Carved relief of a crowd running towards a seated figure; a female figure perhaps petting/feeding but probably leading a horse and chariot; and another seated figure.
I wish I understood the story this relief is trying to tell me.
