Tumblr media
Vernon was (and is) always touted as a good guy. Way out of your league, if you remember college correctly. (To your chagrin, you were sober through most of it.) He was a talented producer in the music program, part of a drama-free fraternity that raised money as fast as they donated, and all-around Good Guy with professors and students alike.
So when you see him sobbing like he’s the peak of Niagara Falls at the front of his apartment five years later, you can’t imagine what Good Guy Vernon could be going through to feel this way.
It just so happened that the elevator is under repair tonight, otherwise you would’ve missed him and been in bed with your bowl of black bean noodles.
The stairs are echoing on his floor, the telltale cries almost making you drop your take-out. You peek out the stairwell and Vernon’s forehead is pressed against the front door, unwilling to move his hand which clutched his keys. Poor guy, he couldn’t make it inside before he could cry in peace.
He still is way out of your league, and therefore you really don’t feel like you’re equipped enough to approach him. The only reason that you’re living in the same complex is that he posted in your university Facebook group about a great apartment in a quiet part of the city. You never replied to the post, however you probably should’ve thanked him at least. This place was absolutely perfect, both within your budget and a short commute to your job.
You wave hello to each other on occasion, very slight occasion. Without speaking.
Palms sweaty, you decide to walk up to him. You really can’t leave him like this, not when he sounds so sad.
“Vernon,” you say softly. No response. He’s shaking. “Vern,” you’re finally an arm’s length away from him when you say his name one more time. “Hansol Vernon Chwe!”
You don't mean to exclaim, but you regret it as soon as he flinches. Your heart aches for him, you can see his face is patchy and while his eyes are still brown and beautiful, they're glassy with a never-ending stream of tears.
He rubs his eyes with his oversized arm sleeve, "Shit, m'sorry. Do we know each other?"
That question didn't hurt as much as you thought it would. "We went to college together. I attended a few of your mixes, which were always great.” And under your breath you mutter, “I may or may not have pushed Soonyoung in the gym pool sophomore year."
A mixture of a huff and chuckle escape his lips, "I remember now. His phone was in his pocket."
You smile. Even if you never did have a conversation in university, it feels good to have left a memory, however minute, in his student career. “So, do you wanna tell me what happened?”
He sighs, “It’s Yoojung.”
You blink back, tilting your head. Yoojung was the cute freshman that plopped on the scene the first week of September. It was no surprise that Vernon would be into her all those years ago. She was sassy, sexy, and packed a powerful personality in that petite body. In fact, you couldn’t imagine what could’ve been wrong, because last time you checked social media, they were doing peachy.
But obviously there is something wrong. With two fingers, you tug apprehensively at his sleeve. It’s the one holding his house keys. “Do you wanna go inside?”
“Eventually.”
With a frown, you stare at the seemingly harmless off-white door. If it is girl trouble, you’d imagine that Vernon would be coming home to a lot of painful memories if that were the case. Maybe Yoojung left her clothes or something and he’d start wailing again.
“How about you come chill in my apartment?” you blurt out, holding out your bag of take-out in hopes he’d be enticed by food. “I have jajangmyeon. We can share.” At the mention of food, his stomach growls in reply. A resounding yes. You bite your lip in an attempt to hide your smile, but it was no use. With a jerk of your head and a light pat on his shoulder, you lead him two more floors up to your room.
You grimace at how evident it is that your apartment is not ready for guests. The door is only open two centimeters in and you can see your nude bra (not even the sexy kind) hanging from your ironing board.
Vernon trails behind you, shutting the door.
“God, what a bad first impression huh?” you chime, stalking up to snatch your bra and throw it in the laundry basket. “Sorry about that, do you want something to drink—”
“Yoojung might be pregnant.”
You drop your take out, plastic clanging on your coffee table. Vernon is unmoving, shoes on. You take a tentative step towards him, offering him another unseen smile. “Oh? Well, did you guys get tested—”
“I wouldn’t be the father.” Vernon mutters bitterly, bangs falling on his eyes. “We’ve never had sex.”
Oh. You’re quiet as Vernon finally shucks off his shoes, taking the time to push them neatly against the steps. He even hangs his denim jacket up, along with his bag. If he notices you staring at him, he ignores it. Breaking out of your reverie, you force yourself into your tiny kitchen, making as much noise as possible when taking out the kitchenware.
“Do you want wine or tea?” you ask.
“Tea, please. Do you have honey and milk?”
You smile, picking out a Winnie the Pooh mug from your display case. “You got it.”
With your water heater on, you busy yourself up. You notice for such a lanky guy, it’s easy for Vernon to appear so small. He’s curled up on your couch, poking at one of your stuffed animals as he settles for turning on your TV. The soft fluffy blanket matches his oversized sweatsuit, one big gray blob stretching over your couch.
Grabbing the bear-shaped honey bottle, you squeeze as much of the syrupy confection as you can into his mug. It looks like he needs it.

Congratulations on your writer anniversary!
Tumblr media
Would you rather: See Weki Meki blow up in Korea with their remaining comebacks but they disband after their contracts expire? Or keep the group for another 5 years with their steady growth they have now?
What’s your favorite work you’ve written? What’s the most difficult to write?
What are some of your favorite works now? Any favorite writers at the woment?
I really like this picture of Yoojung :)
Assuming normal contract length of 7 years, it would mean they have 2 years left. I think it'd be better to get 5 more years out of them if its guaranteed in that situation.
I would probably say YouWeMe Part 9 was my favorite to write. It's not the hooniest, nor is it popular. It's not even my best work and it's not even reader insert, but what I loved is finally piecing all the foreshadowing and events of the previous parts of YouWeMe together and revealing everything to the reader from the perspective of Yoojung. YouWeMe was my pet project and seeing readers send asks after every part released got me excited with the thought of, "Oh man, you thought the red notebook was the plot twist, wait until the real plot twist drops!"
For most difficult to write, I'd probably say Fairytale was very draining because of the amount of research I had to do for the medieval vernacular. Like no cap, I googled the etymology of a lot those words and made sure it was at least within that medieval time period, words like "Ræd, and "Badde". Then there was the research into things like what I would find in a dungeon, and which fairytales I could use as a template for the story. I even spent a lot of time on the descriptions of all the members, trying to liken real-world event that happened to them in ways that would fit in the story. For example, Wendy's real-life injury portrayed in the story as "forgetting to drop the drawbridge for her", or Irene's controversy with her stylists. It was so much work that by the time I got to the smut part, I was already pretty drained.
As for the last question, there are A LOT of excellent writers and a lot of extremely well-written fics. Many of them you probably already know. So instead, I wanna shed a spotlight on some writers and fics that fly under the radar/aren't as active, because they absolutely deserve the praise and accolades as well.
@themanthemyththeverite - Anytime I read any of Verite's work, I'm always in awe of his prose, no word is wasted in his storytelling. Legitimately one of the best. Probably the one writer where I read his work and think, "God damn, I wish I could write like that." That is not hyperbole. Hope you're doing well, good sir!
@sorrowedgazed has two of my favorite angst fics with time machine (ft Minju) and this is how you fall in love (ft. Chaewon). They tug at the heart strings in ways that I never expected on this platform.
@cataboliac - I spoke with him recently even though he hasn't been active; he's legitimately one of my favorite people on the platform and an overall likable dude. I'm not usually a fan of AU and know nothing about WJSN, but super hero Yeoreum in Super Yummers: Chapter 1 had me immersed in the story from the first paragraph. It's been over nine months since it released and I still think about it to this day.

⚬ pairing: cyborg!hansol x reader | future!au ⚬ word count: 6482 ⚬ warnings: alcohol consumption ⚬ genres: angst, heavy fluff, mutual pining, elements of a futuristic/dystopian society
✧✎ synopsis: hansol is the first cyborg you’ve ever met. he seems human enough, but clearly a little damaged on the inside, and you wonder if he’s ever known what it’s like to be loved.
✧✎ a/n: can you BELIEVE that this is only my second vern fic? he’s one of those members where i can think of multiple plotlines for him, but struggle in writing all. i’ve wanted to try a cyborg/futurey au since like three yrs ago lol, so i hope this came out well ,,,,
Tumblr media
You poked the plastic spoon further into the cold cup, trying to search for a small chunk of strawberry buried under the soft, vanilla peaks. In actuality, you already purged all the strawberries out from the ice cream; you were only pretending to look occupied so that you could escape the awkward aura of being next to this cyborg you met an hour ago, the two of you sat on a ridiculously uncomfortable curb outside a dessert parlor, beneath the midnight sky. It was an unorthodox situation. You wondered where your friends went.
From the tentative corner of your eye, you glanced at Hansol’s half-emptied cup of cookie dough ice cream. The parlor behind you had closed down, though the night street still flooded with a twinkling, neon spectacle, the additional hovercraft humming high above as they travelled along the aerial space-paths. You continued staring at Hansol’s cookie dough. If it had been Changkyun or Yoojung sitting next to you, then you would have already dipped in your spoon and tasted each other’s ice cream as tradition. It would be too weird to ask Hansol.
Scraping some vanilla ice cream onto your tongue, you swallowed thickly and decided to initiate conversation again, even if it was just prevaricated nonsense to beat the time.
“Is cookie dough your favourite flavour?” You questioned Hansol, though stared at the loose laces on your sneakers rather than him.
Hansol started shaking his leg as he shrugged. “I like chocolate too. And cheesecake.”
“So you have a sweet tooth?”
“I guess, yeah.”
Okay – well that was officially the dying spark of another conversation. You were uncertain if he was anxious, shy, perhaps socially awkward, or maybe he was attempting to signal that he just didn’t like you. It was quite rare to encounter a cyborg. Ever since you could remember, they had an uncordial notion of being dangerous, sinister. They were meant to be contained in laboratories as a government order, so technologists could perform their invasive studies. You didn’t know if Hansol was an escapee or a discarded project, nor was it your place to ask.
The strawberry ice cream was beginning to melt into pink and white puddles the more you stirred. One last time, you attempted to maintain some sort of conversation with the cyborg.
“So where do you live? I’ve never seen you around before.”
That time, you made the effort to stare at him, a hazy and violet light bathing the sharp side of the boy’s face and igniting features you hadn’t noticed beforehand. His eyelashes were long, resembling gentle fern leaves, and he had a very strictly cut line defining his jaw. Through the coarse layers of his dark brown hair, you noted small, inked numbers were tattooed just in front of his ear, though you pretended you hadn’t been looking there when he faced you.
“I don’t have a place.” Hansol said nonchalantly, poking the spoon into his cookie dough. “I’m kind of a floater.”
Your eyes widened, though you couldn’t help it.
“Really? But you do have a job. You’ve never tried renting a motel room or something?”
He shook his head and shoved a spoonful of ice cream in his mouth. From what Yoojung had told you, Hansol worked with her at her dad’s auto-repair business, prompting you to wonder if she knew the boy was homeless. Knowing he wasn’t surrounded by the comfort of a family had already caused a pulsing ache in your heart, and you felt somewhat obliged to help.
“Does Yoojung know?”
Hansol hesitated slightly, licking the sweet taste of the ice cream from his lips.
“No.” He finally answered in a torpid manner.
There was a stiff bit of silence, and then the boy was looking directly at you, his knee and elbow so close to yours that they kept bumping together. His eyes, which were usually as brown as a square of dark chocolate, were suddenly beaming in a shade of ice blue. You had never seen such a thing before, and yet you could sense the anxiety rippling from him in invisible waves.
“You aren’t going to tell her, right?”
Your throat felt incredibly dry as you shook your head, heightening your desire to stick a large spoonful of softening strawberry swirl in your mouth for some form of moisture.
“If you haven’t told her then I won’t either.” You replied, making sure to maintain eye contact.
Immediately, Hansol relaxed, the ice blue that glowed from his gaze slowly fading away until the familiar brown replaced it. Even though you assured Hansol his secret was safe, it didn’t thwart your disquieting feelings from echoing throughout your chest, though you attempted to swallow them with the pink dessert that just liquidized onto your tongue. You two continued eating in silence underneath the white stars, Changkyun and Yoojung still nowhere in sight.
“Y’know,” you began quietly, “we just met and all that… but I definitely wouldn’t mind if you stayed at my place for a few days. And I wouldn’t let Yoojung know a thing.”
For the first time that night, you saw the faint beginnings of a smile pull at the boy’s lips, and despite him staring straight at his sneakers you managed to catch a glimpse of rose light emanating from his eyes. He didn’t look at you until the pretty hue completely died away.
“I don’t want to bother you.” Hansol admitted, his gaze tracing your warm expression.
“Trust me, you wouldn’t. It’s just me and a powder puff cactus I bought last month.”
It took a couple of seconds or so, but the boy eventually nodded, and an immense relief toiled away the discomfort that earlier plagued your chest. The air no longer felt so awkward, in which you had been pointlessly scavenging for strawberry slices in your ice cream just to feign some degree of distraction. In fact, you made an offer you would have never anticipated when your night with the cyborg first began: you asked Hansol if he wanted to try your strawberry swirl.
“Okay,” he obliged, “wanna taste some cookie explosion?”
You switched cups and scooped some of his cookie dough ice cream. There weren’t any cookie chunks left amongst the chocolate-vanilla mixture, and you wanted to laugh upon thinking that he must have been doing the same as you.
Tumblr media
“You’re walking home with him? Are you sure…? Are you sure that’s like, a good idea?”
Your face quickly warped into an expression of bewilderment as you stood across from Changkyun, who was clearly apprehensive to have Hansol walk you home. That was the fake story you told your friends, and you had expected it to pass with flying colours, though you came to a roadblock due to your ex-boyfriend seeming petulant. Yoojung was close with Hansol therefore she depicted no air of disagreement. She gave Changkyun a steely side-eye and partly stepped on his foot.
Folding your arms over your chest, you cocked your head. “What are you implying, Changkyun?”
The young man dug his hands into the deep pockets of his coat and gave a casual shrug, his gaze following a distant hovercraft that whirred quietly in the skies above.
“I’m just saying that—”
“He’s saying I’m not safe.” Hansol cut in, though not with any contempt or bitterness. “I understand. Not the first time I’ve heard it.”
The rebut locked onto your tongue was instantly forgotten, to which you glanced at Hansol with a soft sympathy. He was awfully calm, not upset, not angry, just calm.
Yoojung groaned loudly, throwing her head back. “Oh, for crying out loud. Changkyun, he’s not some lump of artificial intelligence that got thrown together by a mad scientist and now he’s out to obliterate mankind. He’s a good kid with some bionics in his arm. Get over it, would you?”
A scarlet colour mottled in the apples of Changkyun’s cheeks and he dragged a hand through his slick black hair, disrupting its style. You looked to Yoojung appreciatively, who was already beginning to wind her arm around Changkyun’s elbow so that you could be on your separate ways. It was an hour past midnight, a thick drowsiness resting just behind your eyelids, blurring the purple-blue neon lights. A part of you still loved Changkyun, yet the other often festered in uncertainty.
“Goodnight guys.” Yoojung said with a tired smile.
“Night.” You and Hansol murmured in unison.
When Changkyun remained silent, Yoojung stepped on his foot again with her red sneaker.
“G-Goodnight.” He was forced to mumble. Changkyun then looked at you, nodding at the slim cellphone tucked in your hand. “Text me when you get home.”
“Okay.” You replied in a small, plain voice, chewing on your bottom lip while watching them walk away down the street together.
Tumblr media
The guilt was bubbling like a disastrous magma beneath your skin, continuously growing hotter as you introduced Hansol to the couch in your living room. Changkyun certainly didn’t represent your own morality, and you were still a little overwhelmed that he would make such a piteous remark, especially to Hansol’s face. Maybe it came from a place of care, affection, perhaps even jealousy. The person who made that comment wasn’t the Changkyun you knew, the Changkyun you loved, and you felt obliged to apologize on his behalf, despite knowing it should come him rather than you.
Hansol sat down on the couch while observing curiously around the room. You couldn’t help but think he was adorable, and you wondered if Yoojung was telling the truth about the bionics in his arm. For his eyes to adapt sensory colours, you knew he must have a chip implant too.
“Sorry, no extra clothes.” You told Hansol after handing him a fleece blanket and a pillow.
As he fluffed the pillow out against the arm of the couch, you sat down on the coffee table.
“I just want to apologize… For what Changkyun said. He’s not that type of person, I think he made a comment like that because it’s still a bit weird between us, and he wasn’t using his head.”
Hansol’s indifferent countenance made it difficult for you to read if he was truly offended. He seemed like the easygoing type, one who doesn’t ruminate or tend toward conflict.
“Yoojung kind of filled me in about you guys,” he admitted, shaking his knee, “Changkyun still worries about you. I get it.”
You stared into the clasped hands on your lap, noting that you’d been unconsciously playing with the gems on your bracelet. It seemed like you both had your nervous ticks.
“Breakups are weird,” you sighed, “I don’t know if we should have stayed friends.”
Out of the blue your body grew rigid, and you wished to retract the words back into your mouth. Your relationship dilemmas weren’t something that should be pushed onto Hansol, a boy you just met, especially a matter so individualistic and personal. Rubbing the bleariness from your eyes, you let out a sleepy laugh, shaking your head in embarrassment.
“Sorry, I shouldn’t have said that – It’s getting too late for my brain I guess.”
Hansol shrugged. “It’s fine. I should tell you I have to get up early tomorrow, for work.”
Conveniently, the auto-repair shop was within walking distance. You were happy that Hansol had been able to find employment, that Yoojung’s dad was kind enough to hire a cyborg, even when they were ultimately spurned for being metal projects and safety hazards.
You stopped tugging on your bracelet and looked at Hansol fondly. “Mr. Choi is so nice, right? He fixed my electro-board when I was little.”
Hansol sprouted in a timid smile. “He’s great. He’s the one who always fixes the circuit panel in my arm when it bugs. I couldn’t control it if it weren’t for him.”
Undeniably you were curious about what sort of bionics had been installed in Hansol’s body. It wasn’t an everyday occurrence to meet a cyborg, though you frequently heard tales about the different technology the laboratories were practicing. Androids were also in maintenance; however, they were a very clandestine operation, and people were known to disappear completely if they leaked information from inside the core. Still, it only fuelled your intrigue.
“Let me guess,” Hansol said, “you want to see my arm, don’t you?”
“Um…” Heat pricked into your cheeks and you failed to meet the boy’s knowing glance. “Only if you want to show me.” You responded bashfully.
“I don’t care,” Hansol huffed while he pulled his hoodie above his head, letting the fabric drop into a ball beside him on the couch, “you’re nice about it.”
Hansol placed the underside of his arm atop his leg, revealing that underneath the thin, synthetic layer of skin, there were bright circuit pathways glowing in different colours. You could see small signals blipping through them, passing onto other networks which travelled up his muscle until they disappeared under his shirt sleeve. Never had you witnessed anything so mesmerizing, so unparalleled, and you stared at Hansol’s arm in a childlike wonder.
Leaning forward slightly, you murmured, “how hard it is? Can I touch?”
“Yeah.” Hansol replied, regarding you with a gentle smile as your fingers pressed down cautiously on his forearm.
His skin was soft, warm, just like ordinary flesh, but then you immediately felt the metal bionic installed beneath and you became somewhat frightened of pressing too hard. There was one particular circuit that started at his wrist, which glowed in a pale lavender hue. You saw a tiny current fire from its sensory orb, and gently, with your fingertip, you traced the signal overtop Hansol’s skin until it faded away at the crease of his elbow. You sat back in awe and smiled.
“That’s amazing. They’re like veins.”
“Yeah, I thought that too.” He agreed.
The boy’s eyes were ignited in a sweet, bubblegum pink. You could only assume that pink had something to do with being flustered, or maybe a fast heartbeat. When you giggled, his cheeks flushed rosy like a cherub’s and Hansol stared straight down into his lap.
“I love how your eyes change colour,” you reassured him delicately, “you shouldn’t hide it.”
Hansol thanked you in a quiet voice, to which you could sense that he was nonetheless embarrassed.
“How does Yoojung’s dad get access to the panel?” You asked, changing the subject.
“I have to open it for him, like this.”
You jolted backward on the coffee table when a translucent, blue screen suddenly projected from the boy’s eyes. It was lined with unintelligible runes and peculiar symbols you had never seen before, some of which flickered by so quickly you didn’t get the opportunity to differentiate them. Somehow, Hansol was navigating his way through the code by controlling a box that highlighted certain text. Upon selecting the correct sequence, there was a tiny beep.
A rectangular section of Hansol’s forearm was outlined in red. Like a safe door, it automatically swung open, uncovering a dense and intricate network of wiring, panels, and metallic instruments that made you feel anxious just looking at them. You couldn’t fathom something so complex was resting beneath Hansol’s synthetic flesh, even as you stared into the thick of it. He didn’t keep the panel exposed for long, and in the next minute Hansol’s arm was restored.
It felt like someone had just crushed your brain between their hands.
“What do people say when you show them that?” You chuckled.
Hansol grabbed the fleece blanket and started pulling it over his lap. He paused for a second, biting his bottom lip.
“I’ve never shown anyone else, apart from you and Mr. Choi.”
However, he didn’t seem interested in delving further on what just happened. Instead, Hansol thanked you for letting him stay for a few days, then wished you goodnight as he got comfortable on the couch. Once you were tucked into bed, you grabbed your phone off its doc station and started texting Changkyun to announce that you made it home safely. Afterward, you slowly dozed off with a strange feeling in your chest and tummy, sort of like butterflies.
Except they weren’t because of Changkyun.
Tumblr media
With Yoojung’s arm wound firmly around your lower back, she helped walk you to the front porch, ensuring that your ankle wouldn’t suddenly capsize as she prevented you from haphazardly stumbling in your drunken haze. It was Changkyun’s birthday, and to celebrate, a large congregation had swarmed the downtown club, marking a night that was already beginning to fizzle from your memory. Yoojung never drank alcohol. She had always been the one at your side to nurture any incoming hangovers, though she wouldn’t be available for the weekend.
Instead, she had a Maglev train to catch bright and early the next morning. Her parents lived apart, and for the whole month she’d be away at her mother’s house.
Yoojung grabbed the spare key you kept under a flowerpot to unlock the door.
“Text me tomorrow.” She advised. “Tell me if you’ve puked your guts out or not.”
“G’night, sexy.” Your words spilt out in a jumble. You still felt like you were floating.
Pressing your hand against the wall, you fumbled to remove your shoes. You deserted your jacket in a clump that sat on the foyer floor and proceeded to stagger into the living room. Hansol occupied the couch, scribbling in his notebook. In the beginning, the boy was only supposed to stay for a few days. Two weeks had passed and he was still with you. For some reason, you didn’t possess the heart to see him go, and while you knew he felt guilty extending his welcome, you believed his presence was becoming an integral part of your life.
Changkyun had invited him to the club, though Hansol politely declined, instead wishing him a happy birthday over the phone. Whenever the boy wasn’t working at the auto-repair garage, he was extremely attached to a black, faux leather notebook with sallow-stained pages. You never asked what he wrote about, thinking it might be something like a personal journal. Upon seeing you at the threshold to the room, Hansol bloomed into his usual faint grin. There was still a thorough concoction of liquor in your blood and a black raspberry flavour burned your throat.
You wobbled toward the couch, mumbling in your garbled vernacular about how elated you were to see him after such a tiresome and long night.
Collapsing next to him, you rubbed tightly into your eyes and started humming.
“Need me to get you anything?” Hansol offered kindly.
Cracking one eye open, you glanced at the boy before bursting into intoxicated giggling.
“Oh, nonono, dn’worry about it. M’fine, Hansol. So, so, so fine.”
“You’re smashed. You should get some rest.” He suggested the most logical option, staring at you slumped deep into the cushions from over his shoulder.
But then you sat up, stretching your arms high into the air until you felt the muscles shake. Your hand fell on the boy’s shoulder, and you looked through your clouded gaze into the beautiful, rich earth of Hansol’s eyes. He tensed ever so slightly at being in such a new proximity to you, probably smelling the tangy alcohol straight from your clothing.
Placing your forehead on his shoulder, you slurred, “y’know, you’re r-right. I need to sleep.”
“I can help walk you to your ro—”
Hansol’s suggestion was merely cut in half as you raised your head from his shoulder, pressing your mouth to his in a soft, short kiss. He blinked like a clueless fawn, eyes rounded and glistering, unable to formulate a single thought let alone a sentence. If your veins weren’t engorged with fiery alcohol, then you certainly wouldn’t have kissed him, but in that heart-fluttering and completely sense-devoid moment, you didn’t have your rationality to guide you. His eyes quickly warmed to their adorable rose tint as you rested your head on his lap.
“Dn’wanna go to my room. M’gonna sleep here.” You purred, nuzzling into his thigh.
The boy completely froze. He didn’t know what course of action to take. Settling his notepad and pen on the arm of the couch, he saw you were already falling asleep.
“You’re so comfy…” you sighed, sensing the blackness pull you deeper.
Hansol gulped tensely, “y-you really don’t want your bed?”
“No.” Your brow slanted, and you glanced up at the boy with a misty, intoxicated film in your eyes, your cheek smudged rather cutely against his firm thigh. “Just want to lay here, w’you. Please, Sollie? Do you not want me?”
Hansol’s gaze had never shone such a vivid shade of pink.
“N-No, I do— I mean! I-I don’t mind,” he tripped over his words and ran a nervous hand through his hair, “you can stay there. It’s fine.”
You chuckled in a tipsy, bubbly adoration upon watching Hansol falter. “Y’re soso cute.”
“Do you want the blanket?” He quickly worked to change the subject. “So you don’t get too cold.”
“Yes please.” You hummed, your eyes fluttering shut while the boy grabbed the fleece blanket from the back of the couch.
The material was light yet warm as it was draped gently over your body, prompting you to curl into a ball with Hansol’s thigh pretending to be your pillow. You slurred a polite goodnight, feeling the boy’s gaze roam freely across your face. One of the last things you recalled hearing was a goodnight whispered back to you, though it was very quiet, sincere, alongside the scribbling of Hansol’s pen in his black notebook.
You dreamt that he was writing about you.
Tumblr media
“Are you really sure? I feel like I can’t… It’s been a month already.”
Hansol wouldn’t stop fretting about his stay at your house, how he felt undeserving to be living with you, that it was eating him up inside knowing he was taking away a degree of your privacy. He was so inclined to confess his concerns that he hardly touched his warm cinnamon toast or slices of bacon, and you could hear the rapid motion of his leg shaking underneath the table. It hurt to see him like this. Neither Yoojung or Changkyun knew he was living with you, but if you truly wanted the boy to stay, then you would need to be completely candor and voice the reality.
Scaping the last bits of oatmeal from your bowl, you shook your head.
“This is working out, isn’t it? You’re so much safer with me. And I love your company.”
The boy leaned back in his chair, shoulders slumped with uncertainty and his eyes seeming distracted by antagonizing thoughts. You couldn’t help but think that Hansol wasn’t used to someone caring about him in the manner that you did.
“It would be awesome if you stayed.” You made another attempt to mitigate his worries. “The only thing is we would have to tell Yoojung and Changkyun.”
Hansol looked at you, the morning light that pierced through the cloth curtains igniting a golden flare in his eyes, and powdering his long lashes. Your cheeks started prickling just from staring at him. You always wanted to tell Hansol how beautiful he was, but you were too shy.
“I know.” He sighed, reaching for his glass of apple juice.
“Yoojung probably won’t care,” you knew that was a fact, “I’m not sure about Changkyun, though.”
Hansol would leave for work at the auto-repair within the next fifteen minutes, while you made plans the night before to help Changkyun shop for his new apartment. You weren’t exactly sure where you stood with Changkyun, or the direction your heart leaned toward. Whenever you were alone with him, he became the most endearing, sweetest version of himself – a complete charmer, engendering you to laugh so ridiculously hard that you’d choke on your own saliva or playing such a smooth move you’d feel your pulse quicken. He utterly confused your emotions.
To make the matter more conflicting, you still hadn’t forgotten your drunk kiss with Hansol.
He played the incident off casually, in a frivolous nature that helped erode the viscid layers of poignancy you were swathed in the next morning. Almost every night you thought about the kiss, addicted to the butterflies and the cottony feeling that would overwhelm your stomach.
“I should get going now.” You announced, slipping your jacket off the back of the chair.
A small, fainthearted grin appeared on Hansol’s mouth.
Underneath the table, you set your hand on the boy’s jumping knee. He instantly cemented, looking to you with still-water eyes.
“I just want you to know that I’m really glad you’re here. Seriously. You make my life better.”
Your heart was rippling like a kite caught between a harsh wind. After giving the boy’s knee a gentle squeeze, you rose from the table, left your bowl and utensils in the sink, and texted Changkyun to meet you at the hovercraft port next to Grand Station. Small, pearled tears were slipping down your cheeks as you kept a brisk pace along the sidewalk, though you hastily wiped them away with the sleeve of your jacket, pretending they had never fallen.
You were starting to think you were in love with Hansol.
Tumblr media
A menacing and wrathful thunderstorm had developed overtop the city throughout the day, the cinder clouds completely swallowing any sunlight as they thickened and grew rotund with water vapour. The bullet rain didn’t start falling until the evening, and the booming reverberations of the thunder made it seem as though the sky was splitting itself apart. Your mother used to say it was the angels bowling, and it thundered each time they hit a strike.
Around ten-thirty at night, you grabbed a quick glass of water from the kitchen and wandered into the living room, wanting to see Hansol before you went to bed. However, he didn’t pay any attention to you. He was looking out the rain-splattered windows and into the darkness, where the thunder still roared barbarously. When you sat next to him on the couch, he sensed how the cushions slightly dipped, the boy jerking in surprise upon noting your presence.
Taking a drink of water, you mumbled a muffled “are you okay?” while eyeing him skeptically over the rim.
He shivered, brushing his own arm. “I dunno, I hate thunderstorms.”
Suddenly, there was a harsh, almost deafening crack that echoed from the sky. The lights flickered for a transient moment until the aftershock faded away.
“S-See what I mean?” Hansol stuttered, his eyes glowing in a lambent, soft-tinged blue.
Your heart immediately pined for him, and you experienced an urge to tuck him away in your pocket so he couldn’t be harmed. After setting your water glass on the coffee table, you offered a tenacious solace that made your palms dot with moisture.
“If you want, you can sleep with me in my bed—I mean! not like, sleep with me, but just—we’re both sleeping and nothing else, is what I’m trying to say…”
You internally wilted and admonished yourself for making the request so painfully awkward. To your relief, Hansol chuckled innocuously at you.
“I didn’t think you meant it like that,” he admitted, his eyes flitting from blue to an orchid pink, “If it’s okay, then I’ll do it.”
“It’s okay.” You reassured him. “It’s completely okay.”
At first, neither of you could fall asleep, instead staring blankly at the shadows of the popcorn ceiling while raindrops pelted against the glass. You two attempted keeping as much space as possible between you, for even the slightest brush of your leg or arm rendered you both to instantly recoil and spew apologies. At a little past eleven o’clock, your eyes were fluttering open in response to a particular sound. It was Hansol’s leg again, shaking beneath the covers.
Turning your cheek into the pillow, you faced him with aid from your alarm clock light.
“Your leg is going like crazy. Are you sure you’re okay?”
Hansol looked at you, gulping tautly.
“My leg does this all the time. I-I can’t help it. It’s harder to control the bionics there.”
“You have bionics in your leg too?”
“Yeah, mostly in my knee, some in my shin.” His expression was apologetic. “I’m sorry, you can’t sleep because of it, right?”
Hansol held his breath when you grabbed his hand beneath the covers.
“I don’t care.” You promised him, calmly stroking the ridges of his knuckles.
A few moments passed where you simply observed the dark slopes and outlines belonging to each other’s faces, your breaths slowly beginning to synchronize as the raindrops softened against the window. Tentatively, you touched the side of Hansol’s cheek, your thumb running just below the warm, silk skin of his eye, treating him akin to a fragile art piece. You could sense the rigidity within him dissipate like mist, especially as he moved closer to you, pushing his head into your chest. An intense fluttering sensation immediately consumed your lower-tummy.
“Will you please hold me?” He mumbled in his husky, tired voice, his ear settled right over your thumping heart. “I always sleep better when I think about you holding me.”
“O-Of course.” You stuttered, rather taken aback.
That was the first time he had ever been so forward with you.
You fleshed your fingers deep through the boy’s brown locks, feeling the thick, velvet-like strands wrap around each digit and tickle your skin. Continuing to softly coax down his scalp, you brushed against a hard, plastic slit near the back of his nape, and realized it must be the area where Hansol’s sensory chip had originally been inserted. His leg was no longer shaking, and you felt the rhythmic pattern of his breaths against your chest. In the darkness, you could properly see the small circuits that dimly glowed beneath his eye and ran across his cheek.
Under your breath you murmured, “you’re so pretty.”
Almost immediately, the circuits lit up in a deep shade of fuchsia, and you could just see the boy’s mouth twitch coyly. Your entire body, head to toe, flushed with warmth as Hansol only turned his face further into your chest, attempting to hide the sappy blush staining his cheeks. He was inexplicably more than just pretty, Hansol was precious, and you wished to keep him pressed against your side so that the cruel world may never wrap its hands around him.

About a week later, you met with Yoojung at the internet coffeeshop. She had recently returned from her stay at the opposite side of the city with her mother. You two picked a window seat at the front house, using the translucent screen in front of you to select your orders. As soon as you were finished, the screen blipped off, revealing the bustling city street.
“Changkyun wanted to come too,” Yoojung said, fiddling with a sugar packet, “but his aerospace class is going on a tour of the Sky Hub… He won’t stop talking about you, y’know?”
You cringed slightly, which didn’t go unnoticed by Yoojung.
She couldn’t repress her laughter. “What’s that about? You hate him now?”
“I don’t hate him.” You also grabbed a sugar packet and started pushing around the granules inside, using it as an excuse not to face her directly. “It’s weird being only friends.”
“Isn’t that what you wanted?” Yoojung frowned.
“I thought that was what I wanted. I feel like… I kept him as a friend because I was too afraid to lose him completely. But now…” You heaved a sigh and chewed pensively into your bottom lip.
“You’ve moved on.” Yoojung acknowledged. “But with who?”
Taking in a breath to relax your pulse, you looked at Yoojung seriously and admitted: “Hansol.”
“Hansol?” Her jaw almost fell off the bone. “What the hell! How come you never told me you were in love with the hot cyborg? When did this happen?”
There was a silver disc on the far side of the table that automatically slid open, and a tray pushed up that contained Yoojung’s coffee and your honey tea. Once you took the tray, the silver disc closed.
“Like two months ago,” you confessed, handing Yoojung her coffee mug and the small pitcher of cream, “he’s living with me.”
“I had no idea.” She sounded in complete awe. “But now that I think of it, you two always seemed to connect really well.”
You felt an unbridled smile pull at the corners of your mouth, but tried not to make your giddiness too obvious.
“Can you please not tell Changkyun? If he finds out, I want it to be through me.”
“I won’t say anything.” Yoojung promised, drawing a cross over her chest with her finger.
After you spent a few minutes blowing at your tea, you swallowed coarsely and asked Yoojung about a matter that had always allured your curiosity.
“What are those numbers by Hansol’s ear? I’ve never asked him.”
“I don’t know really,” Yoojung replied, shrugging, “my dad said it’s like a barcode that they use in laboratories.”
“Do you think Hansol was an experiment of some sort?”
Yoojung poured a dash of cream into her coffee and stirred it. “Most likely. I think that’s why he writes in that notebook all the time. My dad told me that the laboratories are evil. They do cruel experiments, and a lot of the cyborgs need a mental escape. Apparently, they’re allowed to write or paint. Ever since my dad found Hansol, he’s had that notebook.”
Her expression turned sorrowful and the contours of her face filled with gloom. “I don’t think Hansol is used to being treated like a human. Just because he has bionic parts, that doesn’t mean he’s emotionless, like some android. He can walk and breathe and laugh, like any of us.”
You stared into the golden, swirling colours of your tea and nodded solemnly.
“He can love too,” Yoojung hummed, “he just needs to be shown it first.”
Tumblr media
Ivory rays of moonlight followed you home, until you slipped through the door and quietly clicked it shut. You hadn’t expected to stay out so long with Yoojung, though you weren’t entirely surprised considering her month-long absence.
Hansol was sitting on the couch, the lamp aglow on the side table as he scribbled into that faux, black leather notebook, a few stray locks of hair tickling his eyes. Your expression couldn’t help but split into one of firm ardour and love, a contented smile decorating your mouth while you opened the fridge to look for a quick snack.
You pulled out a container of sliced strawberries, washed your hands, and ate nearly half the sweet summer fruit. After wiping off your fingers with a paper towel, you sat next to Hansol on the couch and rested your chin on his shoulder. His writing was crooked, rather messy, and you couldn’t quite read anything from the paper, though you held a moment of silence, continuing to watch him make his scribbles. Eventually you set a hand on his bicep, squeezing gently and feeling the hard, metal component beneath.
“Did you have a nice day, Sollie?” You asked him, mindlessly stroking his arm.
He turned his head slightly and caught your curious eye. Never had you yearned to kiss someone else so badly, and you were forced to squash the notion that moving your head just an inch forward would have your lips to his.
“It was fine.” Hansol replied, his gaze tenderly studying your face. “You?”
“I saw Yoojung today, so we caught up on some things...” tracing circles against his strong arm, you added shyly, “I thought about you a lot too.”
The edges of Hansol’s lips fluttered into a smile. “Yeah? Nice.”
“What are you writing about?” You hummed, simultaneously reaching into a pocket on your jacket, pulling out a lip balm.
Hansol chuckled, “you can’t read it?”
You pressed the smooth end of the stick against your lips and shook your head.
“No,” you scoffed lightheartedly in response, staring into the boy’s brown eyes, “not saying you have bad hand writing. It’s just… a little indiscernible.”
He examined the paper again, and his countenance became timid, even a mixture of anxious.
“Good.” Hansol huffed, his leg starting to shake.
“Why good? C’mon, I want to know at least the topic.” You shoved away your fruity lip balm with a large pout.
“If you don’t have a clue now then you’ll never have one.” Hansol teased.
Scratching your arm, you said the first thing that came to mind. “Is it about me?”
Hansol didn’t say anything, he just pressed his lips together in a small, sheepish smile while that familiar rose tint flickered in his eyes. He nodded, then set his book and pen on the side table.
“Do you think that’s weird?”
“What?” You questioned him. “That you write about me? I don’t think it’s weird.”
You expected him to appear more relieved, but Hansol’s face only filled with new shadows of uncertainty and doubt. He peered into his lap again, and you could see a very prominent circuit on his neck fire a multitude of luminous, twinkling signals. Something clearly wasn’t right with him; something was still causing him pain. Carefully, your fingers grazed Hansol’s sharp jaw, turning his head so that he could look at you forwardly. You swept away the tresses that were touching his long lashes, a deep concern shifting the once chipper nature to your face.
“What’s wrong, Hansol?” Your brow furrowed, knuckles stroking softly along his jawline. “You can tell me anything.”
“W-Would—,” he stumbled, and you saw how his irises faded into a beautiful aurora of ice blue, “would you love me more if I weren’t who I am?”
Immediately you tensed, and your eyes widened. Your hand fell from the boy’s jaw while a thorough shock bottomed out in your gut. Hansol looked at you so purely, so intimately.
“Because I’m in love with you,” his gritty voice trembled slightly, becoming as thin as the paper attached to his notebook, “and I can’t stop thinking about you, or writing about you. When you touch me, I feel the sensors in my body light up like crazy, and when you say my name, I replay it over and over again in my head. I’ve never felt this way before. But… I’m not like Changkyun, or Yoojung, or you. I can never be human in the way that you all are. ”
You shook your head, the inside of your mouth feeling horrendously parched and your heart aching tight against your ribs. Pulling the boy’s hand into your lap, you interlaced your fingers.
“Don’t say that,” you pleaded, a surge of hot, liquid salt lining your eyes, “those bionics in your body don’t take away from the fact you can feel real emotion. I don’t care if you had circuits in every part of you, or none of you. You still have a heart that feels pain, and love, a brain that helps you rationalize your emotions and thoughts. That alone makes you human enough, Hansol. I’ll love you no matter what.”
His cheeks were rubescent, eyes developing a thin film of teary gloss.
“Do you promise?” He croaked between a small sniffle.
You cupped his face in your enveloping palms and pressed a deep, calming kiss to his mouth.
“I promise.” You assured him, resting your forehead against his. “I love you, Hansol.”
The boy was unmarred by hesitance. Delicately, he wrapped his hand around the back of your neck to gently push your lips against his, slightly angling his head so that he could better coordinate with your movement. The kiss was slow, but blooming with passion, and you felt the heat pool in the pit of your lower tummy as Hansol started guiding you to lay on your back. Your lips never separated, and the contact only grew more fervent upon tasting the mild fruit of your own chapstick from Hansol’s pink mouth. While your fingers tangled through his dark brown hair, pulling softly at the strong roots, his hands crept underneath your t-shirt.
He squeezed tenderly along your waist, the rough callouses gorged into his large palms turning your insides to a warm puddle. As the boy pressed open-mouth kisses beneath your jaw, one hand reached for his bicep, feeling the hard metal underneath upon digging in your fingertips. By the time Hansol reached the crook of your shoulder, he was panting faintly, to which you let the boy adjust his weight as he wriggled himself against your side, sleepy and overwhelmed with how the night unfolded.
He nuzzled into your neck and tucked an arm around your stomach, attempting to keep you as close as possible, like you could disappear into thin air.
“Goodnight, Sol.” You murmured, gently scratching the top of his head.
His breath tickled the sensitive flesh of your neck, his rough voice already heavy with remnants of his incoming slumber as he repeated the phrase back to you. Just before you shut your eyes, your lips kissed the barcode tattooed to the sweet spot just in front of his ear.
I’ll love you no matter what.

Ready?
Idols: Yoojung and Rina (Weki Meki)
Prompt: yes! finally my fav writing blog's requests are open! I just wanna ask if u could do a Rina/Yoojung scenario where they spend New Year's Eve in Disneyland?????????
Writer: Admin Kiwi
A/N: I ended up taking some liberties since the prompt was a bit vague. Also, I didn’t know this was a ship? But I hope you all enjoy! (Also, it’s been a bit hard for me to write with everything that’s going on. I come to this blog to escape for my mental health and I want my stories to serve the same purpose for all of you, but my attention is split between supporting the BLM movement as much as I possibly can while working, taking care of my mental health, and running this blog. It’s been a rough week. That being said, I hope you’re all healthy, safe, and doing well. I’ll try to be more active soon.)

Tonight, it would be exactly a year since Rina kissed Yoojung for the first time. In fact, it would be exactly a year since Rina’s first kiss ever, underneath the fireworks as the clock struck midnight, ringing in a new year. She wasn’t sure if Yoojung remembered the night like she did, or if it was as special to Yoojung as it was for her, but it was a date that was special for Rina. And she was hoping to repeat that special night again this year, in the same place near the castle as the fireworks burst overhead.
The only issue was getting there on time.
New Years Eve was a busy day for Disneyland employees. Because of the show in front of the castle and the special appearances of characters, not to mention the holiday food and merchandise, people flocked to the park in huge crowds, giving every employee plenty of work to do. Rina was one of the lucky ones: she operated the Peter Pan ride, so her job mostly just consisted of pressing buttons and calling for single riders; the overhead voice read off the safety rules for her so she hardly had to talk. Sure, she had to deal with some annoying parents and kids from time to time, but even when busy, her job stayed the same: press the button so the ride can go. During normal nights, her ride still operated during the fireworks, but on New Years, everyone was there to see the show, so she knew she would be able to get to the castle in time.
Yoojung, on the other hand, worked inside the castle-arguably the most busy spot-as a cashier. Every day was pretty busy for her, but the holidays were all on another level, and Rina knew there would be a chance that she wouldn’t be able to get off in time to see the fireworks. Even though the castle closed in order for the crew to set up the stage and to keep everyone safe during the fireworks show, there was still plenty to do after closing. So Rina could only keep her fingers crossed that everything worked out as planned.
“They usually let us go to see the show,” Yoojung assured her over a rushed break. “So I should be able to meet up with you. Where do you want to meet?”
“Is the spot you found behind the castle last year still there?” Rina asked, her voice hopeful. After a moment of thought, Yoojung nodded.
“I think so. Where we kissed last time?”
Ah, so she did remember. The younger woman beamed. “Yeah, there.”
“It should still be there. Want to meet behind the castle then?” Yoojung smiled back at her, reaching over to tuck a stray strand of hair behind her ear, and Rina’s heart skipped a beat, filling her chest with the same giddiness she’d felt the year before.
“Yes, let’s do that!” She couldn’t wait for the day to end.
-
Rina spent the rest of the evening glancing at her watch, waiting impatiently for the rides to close. Time seemed to drag by as she operated the ride for the endless line of visitors, until finally the crowd started to thin and her boss’s voice crackled through the radio on her hip, telling them to serve the final visitors and close the ride. She had never finished her duties so quickly, and even her coworker teased her as they finished checking the ride for any lingering visitors.
“Have somewhere to go?” Lucy asked, grinning and wiggling her eyebrows. “You’ve been pretty impatient all day. Does this happen to have anything to do with Yoojung?” Her teasing brought a blush to Rina’s cheeks and she laughed when she saw it, knowing she was right.
“You’re so annoying,” Rina huffed, shaking her head at the younger girl’s antics. “Are you just teasing me because you don’t have anything to look forward tonight?” That statement was about as mean as she got, but Lucy just laughed.
“I’m teasing you because you’re reactions are cute! It has nothing to do with me being single. I wonder what Yoojung would say if she saw you blushing like this just from a little teasing?”
“She’d say that I’m cute.” In a rare burst of confidence, Rina flipped her hair over her shoulder, then immediately blushed again. She was right, of course, because Yoojung always called her cute. But still, it was a bit embarrassing to say aloud. Still laughing, Lucy patted her on the head.
“I’m sure she would. It’s getting late, so I’ll go shut down the ride tonight. You can go on ahead.”
Perking up, Rina looked at the younger girl with wide eyes. “Really?”
“Really, I can tell you’re excited. Go have fun.”
“Thank you!” Rina quickly gave Lucy a hug before taking off, running full speed towards the tower as she pulled out her phone. She still had thirty minutes before the show started, but was Yoojung going to get off in time?
She was about to send a text to her girlfriend when she rounded the corner to the castle and saw her standing outside. Immediately, her face lit up and she skipped over to where Yoojung was waiting with her arms open, pulling the younger girl into a hug as soon as she got close enough.
“You got off in time!” Rina’s voice was higher than usual as she laughed, the giddiness in her chest back as she hugged her girlfriend tight. On the other side of the castle, she could hear the show starting; someone was singing, although she wasn’t sure who. But the show didn’t matter: it was the fireworks that she so desperately wanted to see. As she pulled away, Yoojung took her hand and smiled brightly, bouncing slightly on her feet, obviously just as excited.
“My manager let us all off early to see the fireworks, and I got out here as fast as I could. I didn’t want to miss this.” She nodded her head towards the path leading off next to the castle. “So? Should we go?”
“Let’s go!” Rina’s heart started to pound in her chest as she two of them set off down the dimly lit trail, Yoojung’s hand warm in hers. This was just like last year, the two of them rushing to get off of work on time to see each other under the fireworks. Only then, they had just started dating, and now it had been over a year. Still, she couldn’t help the fluttering excitement she felt from being able to spend another New Year’s Eve with the woman she loved. She could only hope that kissing her under the fireworks behind the castle would become a tradition.
The spot was elevated on a hill and gave the two of them the perfect view of the fireworks while also keeping them hidden from any visitors and the other staff. The fireworks were so close that she could feel the heat from them on her face, but any fear she would have felt was replaced with excitement and anticipation, waiting for the clock to strike midnight.
“Isn’t this place so romantic?” Yoojung commented, sighing happily as she gazed out at the castle. “As stressful as it is working here, I have to say, the view is beautiful.”
“Yeah,” Rina agreed, staring at her girlfriend’s happy face. “It is.”
“Plus, if I didn’t work here, I wouldn’t have got to meet you. So I like it here.” the older woman smiled brightly, dropping Rina’s hand to wrap her arms around her instead, holding her tight. Content, Rina’s arm came up to wrap around her girlfriend’s shoulders as she enjoyed the view stretched out in front of her, an affectionate smile on her lips. For a while, they just enjoyed the soft breeze that tickled their skin, warm from each other’s embrace as they listened to the festivities happening in front of the castle, content to watch from afar. Then, as the countdown started, butterflies appeared in Rina’s stomach.
“It’s almost time,” she said, feeling a little breathless, and Yoojung laughed, turning in Rina’s arms to face her.
“It is. Are you ready?”
“T-to kiss you?” The younger woman stuttered, making her laugh.
“Well, that too. But I meant for the new year.”
“Oh.” Rina pressed her lips together and thought. This year had been wonderful, filled with firsts for the both of them, and she had created a lot of great memories. But she was even more to experience more and create even better memories with Yoojung. Plus, there was no way she could stop the new year from coming. She had to be ready. “I’m ready,” she said with a giggle, pressing her forehead to Yoojung’s. “For both.”
“Me too,” Yoojung said softly, leaning in. “I can’t wait to see what this year will bring for us.” As she finished speaking, the countdown ended, fireworks exploded overhead, and her lips met Rina’s. Yoojung kissed her passionately, as she always did, making the younger woman feel weak in the knees as she pulled her even closer, hoping the moment would never end and, at the same time, feeling excited for the year to come.
She couldn’t wait to spend another year together, and even better, she knew Yoojung felt the same from the way she smiled against her lips and whispered her love between kisses.

Stan OnlyOneOf ya cowards (Long Post - Dance & Song Analysis)
Woah....wow....just WOW
I just watched the 1theK dance mirrored video for OnlyOneOf’s “Savanna” (the one for the dance cover contest, and can I just say, W O W.
I remembered watching this last year (It was the very first video of OnlyOneOf I watched) and I was like, yeah, this song sounds pretty good. But now, after rewatching it, I’m amazed at the amount of imagery they put into the dance. By no means am I a pro dancer or something, but I’ve been dancing to Kpop for a few years now, so I got used to pretty much how the dances are like. Nowadays, most boy group dances are pretty hip-hop / popping / maybe some contemporary dance mixed in for some of the slower parts in songs, so I pretty much know what to expect. There would be some crazy choreo, fast paced tempo you need to follow, etc., etc. Yeah, 4th gen is starting to become some sort of dance competition.
But...THIS. THIS GODDAMN CHOREO SHOOKED ME. I already love how different OnlyOneOf’s songs are from the generic mainstream songs, instead of going for some hardcore rap or edm songs, they always go for mellow tunes and beautiful melodies mixed with entrancing vocals (YES YES YES VOCALS, THERE ARE ACTUALLY V O C A L S IN THEIR SONGS, NOT SOME SORT OF WEIRD NOISE INSTRUMENTAL. I CAN GO ON A WHOLE RANT ABOUT THEIR VOCALS). Anyways, I might make a whole other post for their songs, but right now, let’s focus on their choreography, specifically this one.
It’s strange, in a way. I got into OnlyOneOf because of the dance for “_Sage.” I saw it in a random play dance video, and it was my first time seeing OnlyOneOf in one of these videos, actually. I remembered seeing the dance and got shocked when they yeeted to the ground during Mill’s part in the chorus. Idk the name for the move, but it caught me offguard on how smoothly they did it. After the random play dance ended, I immediately went to watch their dance practice for “_Sage” and decided to learn the move, bc, you know, it looks cool (and I want my awkward self to show a different, cooler side of me on stage). I only wanted to just learn the chorus, but I ended up learning the whole choreo. And it literally started with “i just wanna learn their names so I can tell them apart during the dance” to finally “Ok, I’m gonna stan.”
“_Sage” has a pretty intense choreo, compared to their other songs, but I feel like, with OnlyOneOf’s choreos, you need to properly EXPRESS the song’s meaning. Ofc, it’s always important to convey the meaning of a song, since dance IS a form of art and expression (as a very smart Hwanwoong said, it’s not just about the performance, it’s whether you can convey the emotions well or not).
With OnlyOneOf though, each of their song has a special meaning, all linked to a storyline (I’m probably gonna go on a whole other rant when I piece together the theories), and their songs are so different as well, they don’t talk about the topics that most groups today usually explore with their discography, instead going to a different route and just listening to their songs and watching them dance makes me feel like I’m in a different dimension. They’re just...UNIQUE. I don’t know any other way to say it. Y’all are probably like “how about Group X, they always talk about blah, blah, blah” and I am NOT dragging down other groups, but smth abt OnlyOneOf really stands out to me. I listened to their song “dOra Maar” this morning and got emotional after finding out the meaning behind the song. Even though I finished learning “_Sage” yesterday, I still feel like I need to practice more to make sure the emotions and meaning of the song is properly conveyed through the dance, bc the meaning behind “_Sage” is just so complex. And now, let’s actually go into the semi-analysis I did for “Savanna” so you guys will understand what I’m talking about.
THE ACTUAL ANALYSIS
youtube
Imagery is used by many groups today to give choreography a deeper meaning, or in some cases, like a signature move (SKZ “God’s Menu” uses many cooking references, for example). With “Savanna,” I was amazed by the amount of imagery they use. As I mentioned before, groups these days are more into difficult hiphop dances, so I feel like imagery is being used less and less and choreos are just a bunch of difficult moves strung together to look powerful and difficult and...yeah, 4th gen is really turning into a dance competition. Anyways, i DIGRESS ONCE AGAIN (I can complain for hours about 4th gen music and dancing but let’s save that for some other time).
I will say this again: I am NOT a professional dancer, I only had a few years of ballet + Kpop, and is self-learning popping and hiphop right now. This is only based on what I observe and how I interpret the dance.
Ok, let’s start at the beginning of the choreo. All the members form a ring around one member (KB) and waved their arms to enclose a circle, trapping him, before moving apart. Next, the members seemed to form a path for KB to walk on, with Yoojung and Junji at the end, arms forming a line that KB ducked under and passed through. Right off the bat, we have a beautiful imagery. I think it portrays time travel (since the song seems to hint towards that subject). The four members forming the path that KB walks on, are frozen like statues, like time just froze. KB is the person that wants to break out (he was trapped within a circle in the beginning) and seems to find a loophole through time that he manages to walk through.
Now, onto my favorite imagery for the choreo that really surprised me. At 0:33 in the video, When they formed lines by Nine’s side and opened their arms in sync, creating almost like an illusion. It might be to match the lyrics about “dry, chapped lips,” but that part mesmerized me, and drew me in to continue watching.
The next key point of imagery, is at 0:47, when they formed a line and stood in alternating positions, moving their arms in an alternating pattern as well. It really matches with the lyrics “among the intertwined people, I hide myself again” and creates another illusion that’s JUST. SO. CAPTIVATING. I might be a tad bit overdramatic abt this, but really, I LOVE LOVE LOVE how they put so much imagery and meaning into the choreo.
Another piece of imagery is Love’s and Nine’s solo portion after the chorus, when they mirrored each other with their bodies and made a drinking motion with their hands. Might seem small, but it emphasizes the lyrics “Watchin’ all your silhouette / Drink one more time, Sweepin’ huh.” The lyrics might not make sense, but this part is just so mysterious and mesmerizing.
They did another beautiful imagery for the start of the second prechorus for the same lyrics (”Among the intertwined people, I hide myself again”), but this time, forming a V formation around Nine. They also formed the same ring around Junji when he sang, “I feel like I’m locked in” but with some floorwork this time. I love how they tried variations of the moves, so the image is still there but switched up to keep it engaging.
These are the key details of the dance I’m going to write about here, there are many other parts and some imagery I probably missed, but if I’m going to actually analyze every single move along with the song lyrics, you guys are probably gonna get bored XD. So to wrap this up, I think the important factor about the dance that really draws me in is that, unlike choreos nowadays, the dance is composed of smooth movements and transitions, like contemporary but keeping that Kpop feel, ya know? The song itself is already mellow and vocal-centered, so ofc the dance has to match it, but I wasn’t ready for the imagery (i dare you to count the amount of times I used this word lol) they used. Watching this is like a breath of fresh air, listening to this song is so refreshing. I strongly recommend you guys check it out!
This is the longest post I ever wrote lmao, and if you read all the way to the end, congrats! Anyways, I might learn this after I polish up “_Sage.” Hmm....should I also do vocal covers for the songs too? I was actually thinking of remixing “Savanna” into a diss track because of the misheard lyrics (”i don’t give a shit what they think abt us / you’re like a bitch from Savanna”). Who knows?
Thank you for taking your time to read this!

Try Me (Part 1) svt-bts-exo ff
****RRIINNGG****
“Ahh!” I scream as I fall off my bed. “Damn. I should really change my ringtone or just not have an alarm. As I lazily get up I make my way to my bathroom and brush my teeth and take a short 5-minute shower. I decide to wear just some jeans with a hoodie. As I get dressed I get a text from my sister
> YA! what is taking you so long
                                                     >Nothing. where r u?
>I decided to take the bus since you take too long.
                                                    >Whatever. I’ll see ya then.
Oh, sorry I haven’t introduced myself. My name is Choi Y/n, I go to school with my younger sister, Yoojung. I was expelled from my old school for fights and a few run-ins with the cops for a misdemeanor. I went to a different school as my sister because our parents got a divorce when we were younger and I had to go with my dad, he was upset about the divorce so he would go get drunk and when he would come home he would beat me up bad. He got into a lot of fights and taught me things along with me taking taekwondo classes. After living with him for most of my life I came home one day to see him on the floor and not breathing.
He overdosed. He also left a note telling me to stay with my mom and to take his necklace, it was a necklace that had the writing ‘ Mi Amor’. Then that summer I moved in with my mom, we did visit each other every now and then but I finally get to live with her and my goofy sister. I missed them so much. I got to spend my first summer with them and missed out on the first few months of school because we had some trouble transferring my credits, but my mom made sure I got my credits. Now, I have to go to school... ugh, I’m glad I get to go with Yoojung though! She has no patience though, can’t wait for me, kids.
I decide to take the bus as well, although I do have a car I wouldn’t want to drive it to school. When I get there I notice people staring at me and whispering not very well too because I can hear them,
“ Wth is that?”
“Is she even a girl?”
“She looks like a thug”. Wow, I feel welcomed already.
As I try and make my way inside I get a sudden passive-aggressive hug attack from my sister and her friends Jeongyeon and Dahyun.
“You guys~,” I say still a little in shock from their surprise “ We wanted to surprise you! “ says Jeongyeon, Dahyun asks “ Did it work?” and I quickly reply with “Of course!!” and as we are laughing a group of girls pass by and say “Look at this group of losers” and they walk away they are snickering. I could already sense that they are the plastics of the school.
“Forget them. Who is your Advisory?” asks Jeongyeon
“Uhh... Mr.Woong” I reply “Who is your guys’ advisory?
“We have the same as well!” They answer with excitement and then they pull me to the class and we are on our way. When I entered the class I had to do an introduction and then I got to sit with a pretty cute guy named Mingyu who had to show me around
A few minutes into the morning announcements he slides a piece of paper to me that reads ‘You wanna have lunch together? Yes or No’ and I was not about to let this opportunity pass so I put Yes. When he saw my answer I could see the small grin he had on his face.
After Advisory we had English and then it was lunch. As soon as we were done and got to go to lunch Mingyu was asking if I was ready
“Is it okay if my friends come too?” , “Of course. The more the merrier” and after he replies I told the girls and they came. I got my food and saw a table filled with nothing but boys and food, to my surprise it was Mingyu’s friends. They all introduced themselves and even had a name for their friend group, Seventeen.
5 mins of introductions
“Wow. I’ll try to remember all of your names” I say with a worried face
Vernon: It’s okay, just calls us by nickname if anything.
Y/n: Got it
Joshua: Where you from?
Y/n: Atlanta
Minghao: You're from the states!? Wow!
Jeonghan: How come you are attending our school now?
Y/n: I.. just wanted a change.
Yoojung looked at me and I nodded to let her know not to tell anyone.
Yoojung: Oh shoot! I forgot my homework at the class
D.K: You can grab it when you go back
Yoojung: I can’t. I have P.E.
Y/n: Okay go and grab it. Quick.
Jeongyeon: concerned You want me to go with you
Yoojung: I-I’ll be okay.leaves
I turn to Jeongyeon and ask “Why are you so worried?”
Jeongyeon: Hmm? Oh no, i-it’s nothing.
                                             (Yoojung POV)
As I walk down the seemingly never-ending hallway I get more and more anxious with every step. Suddenly I hear footsteps and see them. I turn around and try to walk away, but the rest of them show up.
Suho: Look what we have here boys
Jin: Aww. Look she is scared.
Kai: How pathetic.
I try to walk away once more, but they push me back.
Jimin: Where do you think you're going?
Me: Can I just please go. Just this once.
Kris: Sorry sweet checks. Can’t do that, but I’m pretty sure if you get on your knees and beg! We may let you off the hook.
They started to laugh while I stayed still and put my head down
Sehun: What. Your not gonna do it. Hows about a little motivation! slaps face hard
It didn’t hurt, at all. My dad would hit me all the time and would use his full strength too. His slaps were like a baby slap. I didn’t show any physical pain.
Sehun: Phsyco bitch.
                                               (Y/n POV)
What is taking her so long? She should be back. I am starting to get really worried.
Y/n: I’ll be right back.
Dahyun: Where you going?
Y/n: Bathroom
She knew it was a lie, but she didn’t stop me. I make my way through the halls and I see a group of guys surrounding something.
Y/n: I think I’m just gon- wait... That’s Yoojung!
I see them hit her and I was anticipating her to do something but she did nothing. Okay, I had seen enough. I interfere.
Y/n: Hey, idiots! I would go if I were you.
???: Who the hell are you?
Y/n: The person who told you to leave.
???: Why would we listen to you?
Y/n: Because. I can take all of you on without getting a single scratch on me and you don’t want to actually fight me because WHEN I win it would hurt your pride.. and your face.
???: Why don’t we test that theory.
Yoojung: NO! Sorry, she is a little disoriented from the plane ride here so still a little tired. We’ll be on our way now.
Y/n: What! no, I’m not Yoo-
Yoojung: Nope we are going
She pushes me all the way to the classroom and we are the only ones there. As I ask her to fill me in I sit on one of the desks
Y/n: Well!
Yoojung: Listen they are just some immature kids being jerks to people.
Y/n: Is this why people call you guys losers and why Jeongyeon and Dahyun were worried. Are they also being bullied?
Yoojung: I wouldn’t say bul-
Y/n: Yoojung.
Yoojung: Okay, yes. I tried telling them to just stop hanging around me so they won’t get hurt, but you know them. They never leave us, they are loyal.
Y/n: Of course I know that. We are childhood friends with them, and I haven’t been protecting them.
Yoojung: It’s not your fault. I was the one who knew, I should’ve helped them.
After we finished talking we hugged and the bell rang signaling us to go to our next period
A few boring classes we get to go home. I had a lot of classes with SVT. They are all sweet and cute but can get very hyper. I head home with Yoojung, Jeongyeon, and Dahyun because we wanted to get something to eat before we go home. We decided on grabbing something from the convenience store near our school.
Dahyun: What should we do on the weekend? I was thinking of a sleepover. (It’s Thursday btw)
Yoojung: I’m down.
Jeongyeon: Whose house?
Y/n: How ‘bout ours? I heard mom over the phone today scheduling her flight for tomorrow. I guess she is gonna go on a business trip for a few days.
Yoojung: Oh. I guess that checks out.
After we finished eating we walked out only to be confronted by the doucebags from school. It seemed as if there weren’t as many as last time though and really wasn’t in the mood.
???: Well. Well. Well, look who we have here. The nerd and friends. As well as the new girl.
Y/n: You are?
???: I’m sorry. We haven’t introduced ourselves yet. My name is Yoongi. This is Kai and Chanyeol.
Jeongyeon: What do you want?
Kai: I wouldn’t talk if you knew what was best for you.
Y/n: You would do the same as well. Now if you would excuse us.
As you guys try to walk pass they grab Dahyun by the hair and pull her back. She is trying to break loose and is sqwabling.
Yoojung: Let her go!!
Chanyeol: Make us.
As he was talking I kicked his shoulder and he fell after I punched his face. As that was happening Yoojung punched Kai in the face and Yoongi grabbed her from behind and then I wrapped my arm around his neck putting him in a choke hold, as soon as he let go of her she turned around and punched him in the stomach.
Store worker: HEY!
Jeongyeon: RUN!
We ran all the way to Jeongyeon’s house and we decided to sleepover at her place. As night time came creeping we talked about what had just happened and we were all amazed not because of me, but because of Yoojung! She has never really gotten into a fight with anyone else except for me. I did teach her somethings but she would always tell me that she wouldn’t need to use it.
After a while, we decided to go to bed and talk more in the morning.
                                                           FIN
Hey! This is my first time writing an FF and I am sorry if it is too long and I will try to upload the second part soon. THANK YOU~~~~

mga season 4 episode 8 ― semi-finals
#4007 ― choi yoojung  •  can be better by chaos  •  line distribution @rkjhyun, @haknyeonrk, @rkxsicheng, @rksungyeol
it was starting to become common for yoojung to be surprised she wasn’t the one on the chopping block. week after week, yoojung is sure she’s close to being the one kicked from the stage – and yet. while she’s sad to see sungwoon cast from the competition, and no matter how much she wishes she could’ve done more to help, there’s no way for them to go back in time, yoojung knows. there’s no way to fix what has already happened. perhaps its this newfound mindset that eases yoojung as she stands among the twenty-five contestants as the next round is explained to them. they would all be preforming some of the newest hits by each entertainment company’s senior groups, and each contestant would decide their song based on group ranking, then their own number.
yoojung takes the time she has awaiting her turn to pick a song reflecting on her time in the competition – and it strikes her suddenly that they’re almost done. this next episode was the semi-finals, and after that everything would be over. her chest pounds as the realization settles over her – she’s made it to the semi-finals. i have to do well … she decides inwardly, eyes settling on the door contestant after contestant were being taken into. no matter what i get, i have to do well.
i have to prove to myself that i can do this.
when yoojung steps into the song selection room, there are only two left – she draws in a breath. in all honesty, even if yoojung had been the first contestant of them all to chose, she would’ve had a hard time. as her eyes scan even the choices she missed out on, yoojung realizes that she really doesn’t believe she fits into any of the concepts perfectly – she would certainly have to work on her stage presence regardless of the song chosen. however, there’s only one song she realizes she would be good in, and quickly marks her name on chaos’ can be better.
it really doesn’t dawn on yoojung until she steps into sphere’s practice room that she would end up being the only girl to pick the song. perhaps it was an easy choice for the girls after her, after all h.a.m. was a girl group, and the concept they portray is quite feminine – but yoojung wasn’t used to that. she wasn’t the girly-girl type, and certainly not the almost sexy type the song called for – chaos just fit yoojung better. however, surrounded by sungyeol, haknyeon, sicheng, and jonghyun makes yoojung wonder if she made the right choice.
well, you’re certainly going to stand out now.
however, yoojung looks past that and realizes quickly that there’s no reason to dwell – it’s not like it’s the first time a group in the competition has only had one girl, or only had one boy. in the end, it came down to talent. even if yoojung questioned that, she knew she could pull off the song, even if that meant digging deep into herself for the confidence and optimism she’d been lacking since the beginning of the competition. and, yoojung quickly realized, it seemed as though the team needed that. after all, while yoojung’s mood had heightened, that didn’t seem the case for everyone on the team – and especially not jonghyun. the two had been on teams several times throughout the competition, and the boy had been an energizer in each group he’d been.
this time around, that wasn’t the case. he was more subdued than he had been in previous rounds – even just from yoojung seeing him in different teams. yoojung decided that she needed to try and heighten the male’s mood – especially considering the basis of their song.
chaos’ can be better’s lyrics focused primarily on how things may not be great now, but that doesn’t matter. the lyrics told the listener: what’s the point of living in the past – nothing could be changed. everyone just needed to move on, and continue on our journey – because worrying only seems to take up time. it was something that yoojung was only just starting to learn, and hoped that she would be able to embody in their performance.
after all, the pain will pass in the end.
and so, this time around, yoojung attempts to be an energizer to her team. once they began splitting up the verses of the song and most of it had been distributed, yoojung frowned at jonghyun’s comments – “ jonghyun-ssi … ” yoojung sighed, looking over the lyric sheet. messy writing and highlighting was done throughout – she sighed. “ let’s listen again, okay ? we’ll figure something out, jonghyun-ssi. ” she murmured. as much as she wanted herself to do well, she didn’t want the other to feel down just because he felt as thought he wasn’t ‘confident enough’. yoojung knew that everyone else on the team believed in him – but she wasn’t sure how to help the other believe in himself.
yoojung herself was working harder than she had in previous weeks – especially when it came to the feeling behind the song. it wasn’t as if she hadn’t done a more playful and upbeat song before – after all, she had done wanna one’s energetic only two weeks ago, and block b’s tell them. it wasn’t something foreign to the young girl – no, it had more to do with coming to terms with the lyrics, didn’t it ? yoojung would be the first to admit she had been having a hard time throughout the competition confidence-wise – and nothing had really changed. but she also realized her fatalistic outlook on everything was only making things worse on her end. while outlooks don’t change in an instant, yoojung kept reminding herself that she had made it this far.
she made it this far, who’s to tell her to stop ?
and so, while the other members took long breaks, yoojung shortened hers greatly and worked hard on her own. while the choreography wasn’t terribly challenging, yoojung knew that she needed to showcase her best skills. while it had certainly proven to be rather simple, she couldn’t slack just because she thought it was easy – if she didn’t practice like she would perform, she wouldn’t be able to perform the song to the best of her abilities.
having the second verse in the song was certainly nerve-wracking, quite honestly. yoojung was used to rap being further in the song, at least in the songs she’d sung before – but that just wasn’t the case this time around. yoojung had been hesitant to take taeyang’s part, however she had proven to herself that she was a competent enough rapper that she would be able to hold her own, and agreed to it. yoojung and haknyeon still worked together to better perfect their parts – after all, they had worked together in previous rounds, and trusted one another’s abilities. perhaps that was why she was doing a little better this time around – because people actually seemed to believe in her skills.
she had to believe she was good enough, or she’d psyche herself out too much.
so, yoojung continued working hard. rapping along with taeyang in their recording to better perfect the rhythms to her liking before moving on and practicing on her own. she found it easier to laugh when she made a mistake this week, however – despite the great pressure looming above them, yoojung tried to relax a little bit more. the performance had to be loose and casual – relaxed and carefree. yoojung knew she cared too much – but they were so close. she was so close.
she couldn’t give it up now.
she couldn’t possibly give up what she had been working toward for what felt like ever – what was always in the back of her mind when she watched herself dance, whether it be back in her studio in changwon, the image studio in seoul, or one of the various entertainment company practice rooms in the past few weeks. she couldn’t give up now, while she was so close.
for once in her life, yoojung wanted, so desperately, to do something right.
when the time to perform finally came around, yoojung found herself strangely at ease. she knew that, regardless of how good the performance was, one of them would be going home. she had tried for some time to come to terms with that fact, after all there was nothing she could do about it at this point. she just had to let it go – relax a little; and somehow, it worked. while there was still anxiety settled in the pit of her stomach, yoojung pushed the feelings aside. the only thing that mattered, after all, was that she put on her best performance once she stepped out on that stage.
when their team was called, yoojung drew in a deep breath before picking herself up off of her chair, and following after the rest of the group. they introduced themselves as team control – a play on the original group’s name chaos – before going into their individual introductions. once they were ready to set for their positions on stage, yoojung took her spot and willed herself to loosen up. the performance, after all, required a carefree nature – yoojung had managed, after hours of practicing in front of the mirror, to keep that image regardless of her worries. and, standing on the stage, yoojung somehow found it easier to allow the tension to drain from her shoulders and, when the music started, smile into the camera without needing to fake it. despite the bigger audience, it somehow enlivened the young girl and allowed the cheers to give her the courage she needed.
can be better was the same sort of carefree, charming song that yoojung had taken on throughout the competition – and, at this point, it seemed to fit her image perfectly. while most of the songs she’d performed in had been very similar, boyish concepts, yoojung found no problem finding her place in them – which must be why she felt strangely comfortable taking the centre position, when her verse came up.
그깟 사랑에 목 메이며 살고 싶진 않아 i love myself 무엇보다 소중한 나잖아
she raps out with confidence, voice following the same up-and-down cadence taeyang’s lines were known to have. her voice is strong, despite any nerves that may have been present, as she steps side-to-side, a slight shrug added in during her second line, a cheeky smile crossing her lips. while the meaning of the words may not be completely true in how yoojung feels about herself, she hopes she’s getting closer to feeling that way.
안 맞는 걸 억지로 맞추고 싶진 않아 난 아직 내 멋대로인 게 좋으니까
yoojung continues to have fun with her performance as she finishes out her verse, winking into the camera before moving to her position in the back as sicheng and sungyeol took over the pre-chorus verse. and she supposes that’s the difference yoojung feels being on stage now, verses her last few performances. it’s clear a weight has been lifted from the young girl’s shoulders as she performs freely and earnestly – she knows her part well, and, over time, has learned how to better show that while she’s actually on stage. it has everything to do with this competition, yoojung knew – and of course she was planning to use her newfound faux-confidence to her advantage.
the dance moves are light and free – fun and expressive. yoojung has no problem with anything they’ve been required to do, and moves with complete ease on stage. she was born to perform, yoojung decided – otherwise, it would never make her feel this good. if she wasn’t meant to be on stage, than the normally shy, awkward girl would never feel as though the stage was somewhere she could truly shine – and of course it was something that could be learned. however, from day one, yoojung had to have shown something to the judges. something that allowed her to stay on this long, something that made her heart light every single time she stood in front of an audience – whether it be to spit out a verse, or dance to her heart’s content.
and yoojung guesses she should’ve realized it was something she loved – something she’d always love. after all, it was the reason she’d been a part of angels back in changwon, it was the reason she’d applied to become an instructor at image. and maybe it was never something she’d really thought about when she was recording videos – because she couldn’t see the audience behind the lens. however, that never stopped her from reading the comments on her choreography videos; there had always been something she felt as though she lacked since she’d started working at image – and perhaps it was the crowd that angels had provided. the crowd that the mgas were reminding her was out there. yoojung knew she was a performer – but she’d never realized how much she craved a physical audience. how good that instant support could really affect how one works.
yoojung swore she would do anything to keep that audience.
오늘도 곧 어제가 돼 언젠가는 추억이 될 거야
easily keeping up with the footwork of the rapping portion of the chorus, yoojung winked at the camera before moving into the sweeping kick-motion – and again moving to the side to allow jonghyun to take over the final two lines of the chorus. it wasn’t long before she was repeating the lines, the motions, once again – and before yoojung knew it, the song was coming to an end. it was something that, truly, yoojung wasn’t sure she wanted to be over.
this performance included the biggest audiences the contestants of season four had seen – and yoojung didn’t want it to go away. as haknyeon took over the chorus for her, yoojung could help but stare out over the faces of the crowd members – she smiled out over them, eyes dreamy. this was certainly something she never wanted to lose – something she wished, oh-so desperately, that she would never have to walk away from. however, that just wasn’t the case – it was just another performance of those that night, and the team was quickly ushered off the stage so the next could perform. as they were walked off, yoojung couldn’t help from throwing finger-hearts at the audience, shaking her hands and winking at a few she’d caught the eye of. she even managed to catch the eyes of the handful of people who held handmade signs bearing her name, which caused her to blush and throw a kiss their way before she was finally off stage.
this was something yoojung knew she couldn’t lose. she’d put on a perfect performance, and hoped that the ceos would see that in her – that she was talented, and capable. and perhaps, that she had that certain spark in her eye – that she had the potential to take on her own dreams.
once they were off the stage, yoojung let out a long breath, combing her fringe to either side of her face and smiled at her teammates. as much as she wanted to do well – she wanted them to do well, as well. the reality of one of them having to leave the competition tonight was uncomfortably close, yoojung knew. each of them, she was sure, had the thought in the back of their minds that they may be leaving tonight – yoojung let out a long sigh, running her hand back through her hair, before murmuring, “ we did great. no matter what happens, we put on our best performance. i believe in us. ”

I’m yours | Seongwoo
genre: fluff
member: seongwoo
requested: yes!
summary: after knowing seongwoo is your bestfriend’s boyfriend, you lost hope in love and kept satisfying everyone else’s need just to ignore your feelings for seongwoo.
side note: I’m really really sorry for making this anon wait because I wanted to write a good plot for this so I really do hope this meets your expectations! 💗 I honestly don’t know if this is messy but do let me know about your thoughts :>
out of so many years of school, you only have one best friend
yoojung
and to you, having her is more than enough
she’s like the only friend you need to survive
you guys basically grew up together since young as neighbours
and even though she moved away, you guys somehow still got into the same school and the same class
when you saw yoojung in the same class as you, you literally got a shock
her puberty got hit by a truck because she changed 360
you couldn’t recognize her at first until she squealed
which is something she always do
when you guys catch up, you got to know how her parents are doing
you also noticed how her personality changed
from someone who is really shy to someone who is really outgoing
just when you guys got closer in school, you guys had to split class
because the school had this system where you have to split class based on your choice of subject
you chose biology while yoojung chose physics
this means saying goodbye :(
and that kinda sucks because you can’t function well without her
because you’re an introvert and you rely on her a lot
that being said so, you guys still maintain a close relationship
but just that you don’t see each other as much
so one day after you finished extra class, you caught yoojung and seongwoo, one of the guys in her class talking
it caught you off guard because you don’t remember her being close to seongwoo
nonetheless, you called her and told her it’s time to go home
but she stopped you
“y/n.... I wanna tell you something that I have been keeping as a secret”
and you’re what??? secrets??
“seongwoo is my boyfriend” she blushed as she confessed
“omg are you serious? I’m so happy for you!” you hugged her out of natural response while seongwoo laughs at the both of us
“aren’t you angry for not telling you?”
“why should i be! I’m really happy for you” you smiled at her
after telling you this secret, the three of you started hanging out with each other
just like best friends
and just within a short span of 1 month, you got to know a lot more about seongwoo
he used to be in your class but you guys are just merely acquaintance
so you know nothing about him
except the fact that he is the famous ong
anyways
you’re happy that yoojung and seongwoo are a couple together
they look really suited for each other
but there are also times where you kind of feel jealous but you never told anyone especially yoojung
looking at how lovely yoojung treats seongwoo
and how seongwoo would always give in to yoojung
makes you jealous because you have never fallen in love
as you always hang out with them, you always notice about seongwoo more
and the fact that he is purely made out of boyfriend material makes you go crazyyyy for him
you know you really shouldn’t be thinking about seongwoo all the time but your thoughts would always involve him
you told yourself not to be in love with him but you just can’t stop this strong feeling
whenever you hang out with them, you tried to be cautious and not let either seongwoo or yoojung catch you
because you definitely do not have the heart to break them apart
now that you have fallen for seongwoo, everything is just crazy
until one day where yoojung approached you
“y/n! y/n! I THINK I NEED HELP”
you though it is some kind of emergency but turns out to be something ridiculous
“the thing is that I’m going out on a date with seongwoo and the problem is.... I haven’t finished my physics homework! could you help me with it?” she plead you
“a-alright”
why did you even say yes
you mentally scold yourself because one, just because she mentioned seongwoo doesn’t mean you have to say yes and two, how the fuck are you gonna do physics?
so that night, you gotten yourself into deep shit
because you had to flip through the textbook just to find answers for 1 question
oh god
thankfully, you finished it fast and returned it to yoojung
hold up mate
you thought that is the first and last time you’re doing that?
YOU’RE SO WRONG BOI
yoojung started relying on you more and more often and always use that ‘going on a date with seongwoo’ as an excuse
you hated how you would go so soft for seongwoo
and all the more, yoojung’s attitude is kind of getting on your nerves
she isn’t the same like the past because she has gotten a lot more whiny?
you are so so tempted to complain to seongwoo but you just didn’t wanna damage the image he has of yoojung
so you hold it all in
until one day, seongwoo texted you
you almost dropped your phone because he actually asked you for help in math
he had texted you before but this is the first time he asked you for help
and thank god you’re a genius at math so you agreed
and he also asked you if it’s okay to teach him at your house because he didn’t want to let yoojung misunderstand
you didn’t know if it’s a good idea but who cares
ONG SEONGWOO IS COMING TO YOUR HOUSE
the moment you heard your doorbell rang, your heart started racing like mad
“h-hey seongwoo” you smiled
you showed him to your room and you guys started studying
honestly, you never expected that seongwoo would have so many questions
and in between all those questions, you guys talked
and you started to feel a lot more comfortable as compared to when yoojung is around
after answering all of his questions, you gave him more practice questions since he said that there is a test coming up
and when he is attempting those questions, you didn’t want to give him pressure so you decided to take a nap
just then, you felt someone shaking you up and you kind of lost track of time that you didn’t realize seongwoo is still here
“I’m sorry, y/n. you must be tired and you still agreed to help me.” he giggled
“I’m good, as long as you understand.” you smiled
and it is awkward because you guys just stared at one another
and you feel like seongwoo is gonna tell you something but he didn’t
nonetheless, he packed up and went home
and even after he reached home, he continued texting you
and of course, who wouldn’t go crazy if their crush keeps talking?
so you guys texted through the night
and as you are about to fall asleep, you wondered why seongwoo started talking to you in this manner
like he has never talked about deep stuff with you before
and you didn’t mean the bad way.... but did something happen to their relationship?
and true enough, you got your answer the next day
while you guys are heading home after a hang out, yoojung have her usual bright personality on while seongwoo kept quiet
yoojung kept bugging him and you didn’t expect seongwoo to explode
“yoojung, let’s... break up.”
“what are you talking about? stop talking nonsense” yoojung gave a faked laugh
“i honestly have enough of your whiny attitude and i know everything, you gave y/n all of your physics homework just to go on dates with me” that definitely caught the both of you off guard
“w-what are you talking about seongwoo?- is that why you could hang out with me every day, all of a sudden” seongwoo asked
“I finished all my work! Stop talking nonsense, seongwoo!” yoojung spit back
what you would least expect is to see all of her physics homework in seongwoo’s bag
but how?
“stop your nonsense, yoojung. I’m tired of all of your request” you felt another pair of hands fitting in yours and you found out seongwoo is pulling you away
“wait seongwoo, what’s happening?” you had to ask
“you’re the one that has been helping yoojung do all of her work?”
why did seongwoo have to put you in such a dilemma
“when i saw all those physics work at your desk last night, i felt it was odd because you did biology and true enough, you’re helping yoojung to do her work”
“i guess i can’t lie to you anymore... but even so, there’s no big deal seongwoo”
“it is, y/n. you have no idea how crazy yoojung is driving me... and i know this sounds even crazier that i actually enjoy being with you more.” seongwoo chuckled
“what are you saying seongwoo? you must be drunk”
“no i’m not. i always catch myself thinking about you whenever yoojung is so whiny, you’re just so different that i question about my feelings sometimes...” he held your hand and rubbed them
you sighed because you wanted to tell him how much it drives you nuts to like him and to also know it is impossible to tell him
you’re just stuck in the middle
whether to pursue your own happiness
or to break your best friend’s heart
“i-i really don’t know about this, seongwoo” you tried to free your hands off seongwoo’s but you found his grip got tighter
“please don’t go, i know you feel the same way as i do. whenever you look at me, i could feel something different from your gaze”
“but what about yoojung? she’s gonna be so heart broken and it’s all going to be my fault” you can’t help but to sigh
you waited for seongwoo to reply but instead, he wrapped his arms around and the warmth he gives is making you give in
“stop putting everyone before you, you are ignoring your own happiness” he broke the hug and look at your eyes lovingly
and the moment his eyes started eyeing your lips and back at your eyes again, you know you’re gonna say yes
once you felt his lips on yours, you wondered what has been keeping you from saying yes
“i’ll be yours, seongwoo” you kissed him as if you have missed him for a long time
but you don’t have to worry if you’ll ever miss him again
because he’s yours from now on
feel free to leave comments in my ask or drop any random messages :>

Tag Game
I was tagged by my buddy pal @hunkyhoseok thank you so much, you’re like the first person to tag me in anything since I stated this blog ily
↳ rules: write down your top 10 biases & answer the following questions.
Bias List (Randomized):
chanyeol (exo)
joy (red velvet)
yoongi (bts)
sejeong (gugudan)
moonbin (astro)
yoojung (weki meki)
daehwi (wanna one)
doyoung (nct 127)
eunha (gfriend)
jae (day 6)
QUESTIONS
Between 1&4: Who would you rather kiss?
I JUST STARTED AND IT’S SO HARD OMG. I think maybe Chanyeol? Because I’m a very tall person and I’ve always wanted to know what it feels like to do something romantic with someone taller than me.
Between 2&7: Who would be your best friend?
DAEHWI FOREVER. I feel like we’d be the best together and idk I just sort of connected with his personality so well when I was watching p101, I really wish we could be best friends.
Between 5&10: Who has the better voice?
Jae? Moonbin? I’m super fucked. I love their voices for completely different reasons. Moonbin’s is unique, it always stands out to me idk why. Jae’s is clean and gives me chills all the time. I REALLY CANNOT PICK DON’T MAKE ME
Between 1&8: Who is the funniest?
Probably Chanyeol.
Between 6&9: Who would you date?
Can I date them both? They’re so cute I wanna squish their cheeks. I think probably Yoojung because I know her better but Eunha is like perfect so.
Between 9&10: Who would you do a collaboration with?
Probably Jae, I really like male x female duets and I feel like his singing fits my voice better.
Between 4&8: Who is the best dancer?
I have to say Doyoung?I honestly have no idea. They’re both bomb-ass singers but idk about their dancing.
Between 3&5: Who would you most likely marry?
Y O O N G I. My ultimate bias. MY MAN. I wish I could actually marry Min Yoongi, so I can give him the world because he deserves it and more. Sorry Moonbin, I love you so much but YOONGI.
Between 1&7: Who would you nurse when they are sick?
Daehwi totally. Like Chanyeol is a little puppy and I love him but Daehwi is an actual baby, I want to baby him and take care of my boy.
Between 2&3: Who has a better smile?
Am I too biased towards Yoongi? Maybe. BUT YOONGI. GUMMY SMILE IS MY FAVOURITE SMILE. Sorry Joy.
Between 6&8: Who would you vacation with?
Yoojung, even if she’s a bit shy I feel like a girls vacation is the most fun kind of vacation. I’d be way more comfortable around her.

Hand in Hand (4/?)
Summary: Set during the college times. Yoojung and Doyeon both really like eachother, but both of them think it’s an unrequited love they’ve been holding onto for years. When they fave their fears and start a relationship, they realize that they might have not been together for a bigger reason than a few misunderstandings. (TW: attempted suicide, homophobia, biphobia)
Pairing: Yoojung x Doyeon
Genre: Flangst
AFF link: http://www.asianfanfics.com/story/view/1231605/hand-in-hand-doyeon-yoojung-ioi-dodaeng
A/N: A/N: Hey guys... I'm back... and very sorry...I honestly just didn't have the commitment in me to write this, being the lazy person I am, so this is why the chapter is late. In all honesty, it's going to be like this often. I love this story and I love my babies, but I have like, no dedication as person. So yeah, I'm sorry. But I'll try to keep up on schedule. On another note... DUDES THE DDLA EPISODES ARE LIFE. They're really bringing out the mad shipper in me, man. When Doyeon was talking about the whole love that can't really stay together thing, I instantly thought of Dodaeng. But after I calmed myself down, I realized that she was actually talking about IOI lmfao.
Flowers guide: PLEASE READ before venturing downward.
Traveller’s joy: safety
=============================================================
Our hearts are beating erratically and our cheeks are burning, but that doesn’t stop us from breaking the tension in the room with a silly smile. All of the sudden, we are rolling on the floor, laughing our faces off. Doyeon has tears on the corners of her eyes, but I’m not really sure it’s from laughing. When we’re done laughing, we both agree silently to grab some water from the kitchen. Apparently, confessing your love to your friend you’ve been infatuated with for ages takes quite a toll on your energy. After taking a long drink of water, we settle on the couch. She pulls me into the couch, and her chin rests on top of my head. The fucker. She’s mocking my height even after our love confession.
We’re getting all cozy and comfortable, and like feeling the feeling of her arms warming me instead of burning me with guilt. I close my eyes and snuggle closer, trying to nap.But I realize that she’s staring at me. Her eyes are crinkled with amusement, and her pupils are wide. And it still kind of looks blurry, because I’m still kind of crying, but I can tell that her warm and sincere gaze is directed to nobody but me. It makes my heart beat even harder.
“I like it when you look at me like that,” I giggle back to her. Her face contorts in confusion, and breaks out into a small chuckle of her own.
“Yoojung,” she says, staring at me just like she did before. “You have to know that I’ve been doing that since I’ve met you.”
I stare back at her, face to face. She sighs softly, and cups the sides of my face into her palm.
“I’ve been looking at you like this all this time,” she whispers.
Goodness, when did she get so embarrassing? I can’t help but do anything but stare at her in awe. This Doyeon is the one I’ve been loving the whole time, but for some reason I just couldn’t see it in her. It makes me deliriously giddy.  Enough for me to blurt out a clumsy, “I really wanna kiss you right now”, and immediately cover my face out of embarrassment. It takes a few seconds for her to register it all, I think, because in a few seconds she pulls my hands off my face, and tilts my chin up. She stare at me intensely, and gives me the shortest peck on the lips. My eyes open up when I realize that her kiss ended.
“Hey! That’s not fair, you’re teasing me,” I say.
“Look at my adorable little Yoojung, wanting a kiss,” she laughs. “What are you going to do about it?
“This.”
I takes all the courage in my weak heart to press my face close enough for her eyes to widen, and give a small meek nod before pressing lips one her. My hands fall on the back of her neck, and I can hear her quick whine before pressing back just as much. She pulls me in with my waist, and we keep kissing, just like that. We pull back every once awhile to breathe, and fall back into the kisses again. Each one is different, and each time, we give each other the nod of approval anyway. She holds my waist tightly as she’s doing it, and I can feel her heartbeat pulsing as much my own. I’m stroking her head, as odd as it is. She’s taller and all, but I can’t help but rest my fingers against her forehead, and each time I bring my hands up and down in a soft pat, I adore the way she scrunches up her nose and kisses me harder. She has a blinding smile each time we pull apart, and if kissing wasn’t so great, I swear I would just stare all day. Our lips are a little stung from our kissing, but it just positively exhilarates me knowing that Doyeon is doing this with me, and no one but me.
We keep acting like lovesick fools for the longest time, until the door bursts open. Doyeon and I look up, terrified. Our hair and lipstick is most definitely mussed from the kissing, and she still has her hands on my waist. Before looking at anything, I notice that the vase Traveller’s Joy is just about to drop. Five perfectly manicured fingers catch the vase, and I look up to see Somi, furious. Her eyes are burning with anger.  And air floods into my lungs again as I let out the biggest sigh.

Honestly, Little by Little (Pt. 3)
Idol: Lua (Weki Meki)
Prompt: Because of who she hangs out with, Lua has the reputation of a “bad girl” around school. You’ve never spoken to her before, and never wanted to, but through a chance encounter, you begin to realize that everything you’d thought you knew about her was wrong. Fem!Reader.
Writer: Admin Kiwi
A/N: FINALLY, I finished it. This idea started off small and then I just kept writing more and more because I love Lua and I love these types of AUs. Also disclaimer I still know next to nothing about ballet so I’m sorry if I butchered anything here. Anyway I’m so glad you guys enjoyed this long self-indulgent fic, and stan Weki Meki (and Lua).
Part 1 Part 2
Tumblr media
When Friday morning rolled around and your alarm went off, forcing you to wake up, you rolled over and stared at your phone. You knew your face was puffy from all the crying you’d done the night before, and your throat was still a bit sore, making it even harder to wake up. Today was the night of the ballet performance, but it was also the last day; after today, you would no longer be dating Lua.
The idea made you sadder than you would have thought when this all began, and you shoved your head into the pillow, trying not to be so negative. As much as you wanted to tell your parents to call you in sick, you knew you needed to go to your classes. This wasn’t worth ruining your hard-earned grades over, and you had tests coming up.
Sighing, you sat up and picked up your phone, blinking your eyes sleepily. There was a text, and the name of the sender jolted you awake.
-I won’t be at school today, we have rehearsal :( See you tonight?
You stared at the text, heart thumping in your chest. Hyunjin and Heejin had been right, it seemed. Lua did still want to see you.
-I’ll be there. What time?
-Starts at 7pm but my friends always come early to get good seats
-Will do
You put down your phone and rubbed your face, steeling yourself as you stumbled out of bed.
It was going to be a long day.
-
“You look like you didn’t sleep,” Hyunjin said when you sat down, making you groan.
“Why are you always like this to me. You know exactly why I didn’t get enough sleep,” you said, sending her a glare with no actual malice behind it. She just smiled and reached into her bag.
“I was just saying so because I think you’ll need this.” She held out a new stick of makeup towards you, and you cautiously took it. “It’s concealer. It’ll help hide those dark circles under your eyes.”
“Like I’ll know how to use it correctly,” you said, looking down at the object in your hand. “You know good and well that my makeup limit is foundation and some mascara, if I’m feeling brave.”
“At least try. Heejin and I can’t come over tonight to help but I thought I’d give you that.” You raised your eyebrows.
“Why? You guys have a hot date or something?” Hyunjin nodded and flipped her hair.
“You guessed it. I’m taking her out tonight.”
“Have fun,” you said, smiling at your friend as you slipped the makeup into your bag.
“Thanks. We totally will.”
The teacher opened the door, interrupting the conversation, but when you glanced back at Hyunjin, she mouthed a “good luck” and winked. You rolled your eyes at her, but it made you feel better, a little bit. Maybe today wouldn’t be as bad as you’d thought.
-
You hadn’t eaten lunch with your friends in what felt like ages, so when you approached the group, they all cheered.
“Hey, it’s (Y/N), Lua’s girlfriend!” Soyeon yelled, and Chaeyoung elbowed her, giving her a look as you winced and sat down.
“Not really. That was a week thing, remember?” Your friends looked at you, confused.
“Really? You guys seemed really into each other, though,” Chaewon said, tilting her head. “What happened?” You shrugged.
“It’s a long story. I’ve missed you guys, though.”
“We’ve missed you too,” Dami said, scooting closer to put her head on your shoulder. “But are you okay? That’s the most important thing.” You smiled and nodded, looking around at the girls you’d come to be close to.
“Yeah. As long as I have you guys backing me up, I’m good.”
“Awe, (Y/N),” Seoyeon said, putting her hand to her chest. Chaeyoung looked at you, eyebrows raised.
“Is everything a secret, or?” You shook your head and began to unpack the first homemade lunch you’d had in a week.
“No, I’ll tell everyone. Are you guys ready for the long story?” Dami sat up and nodded, looking all too interested, and the rest of them crowded closer. Chaewon pulled her tissues out of her bag, like she knew she might need them, and you took a deep breath. “Well, it started like this.”
-
Eating lunch with your friends and getting everything off your chest made you feel lighter, and there was a little smile on your face as you headed to your next class. You could still feel eyes on your back, but you didn’t let it bother you, knowing that you were just going to have to get used to it no matter what happened.
If you and Lua started dating for real, people would stare at you because you were the one who took her away, and if Lua rejected you, people would stare at you because you were the nerd who thought you had a chance. Either way, you were going to be the center of attention for a little while. So you needed to get used to it.
“Hey, (Y/N)?” You stopped in your tracks and turned around to see Yoojung standing there with Doyeon behind her. She gave you a big grin and threw her arms around you in a hug, while Doyeon stood with a hand on her hip and the trace of a smile on her lips. “What’s up? We haven’t seen you in forever!” It had only been a week, right?
“Um, nothing much. Just, going to my next class, like usual.” Yoojung let you go and nodded, glancing at her watch.
“We still have a few minutes, and we’re close to your classroom, right? Can we talk for a moment?” You weren’t going to get beat up or anything, were you?
You nodded. “Sure. What’s up?”
The two girls looked at each other, and then Doyeon stepped forward.
“We just want to know something. About Lua.” Your heart started up at the sound of her name, and you swallowed, feeling your cheeks getting hot. “Do you like her?”
“Uh-.” Yoojung didn’t let you finish searching for the words you were looking for before she spoke.
“We just need to know if you’re serious about her or not. Lua is a really sensitive person and we don’t want her getting hurt.” You waved your hands quickly.
“I’d never hurt her! Not on purpose, anyway. I- I’m serious about her. I really like her.” A slow smile made it’s way across Doyeon’s face, and Yoojung let out a sigh of relief.
“Oh, thank goodness. I knew you were a good person and you wouldn’t lead her on but we had to make sure, you know?” You smiled nervously at them.
“I get it.”
“You’re going to her ballet performance tonight, right?” You nodded your head, and Yoojung grinned. “Great! We’ll pick you up. Chaeyoung said she’s going with you, so just have her text us your address, okay?” The bell rang, and you winced. You were late. Quickly, Yoojung waved. “See you tonight!”
“See you.” You turned as you waved and made your way towards your classroom, giving the teacher an apologetic smile as you entered.
Yoojung’s words hung in your head, and you found yourself spacing out thinking about them. Did this mean that Lua had talked about you to them? Or had they just noticed it too? This meant for sure that Lua liked you back, right? Although, her friends could just be guessing.
Sighing, you shook your head and tried to focus again, even though everything seemed to be getting more and more complicated as the day went by. Would you really be able to go through with this?
-
“It’s just concealer, I can do that much.” Chaeyoung’s voice echoed in your bathroom as she picked up the makeup Hyunjin had given you earlier, grinning. “This is the easy stuff.”
“To you,” you muttered, looking at your reflection in the mirror. You were wearing the same amount of makeup you usually did at school, other than the lipstick you’d put on and the concealer that Chaeyoung was now using on your dark circles. You’d done your hair and picked out an outfit that still felt you, but that was a little bit nicer than your school or casual clothes. This was a ballet performance, after all.
“What time did Yoojung say they’d be getting here?” She asked as she peered close, applying the concealer.
“She didn’t say, but Lua sent me a text this morning saying that her friends are always early, so they should be here soon.”
“I’m glad I sent them the address as soon as I got here, then.” She pulled away and capped the concealer again, setting it down. “See? No more dark circles.” You looked into the mirror and turned your head slightly, admiring how well the concealer had worked. Maybe this was something you needed to learn, especially during exam season when you hardly slept at all.
“Thank you,” you said, at the same time that the doorbell rang, signalling Yoojung and Doyeon’s arrival. You stood up, but Chaeyoung darted out of the room ahead of you, beating even your parents to the door.
“Welcome!” She said as she opened the door, making you roll your eyes and shake your head.
“This is my house, Chaeyoung.”
“I pretty much live here anyway,” she replied, shrugging her shoulders before turning back to Yoojung and Doyeon, who seemed very amused. “Are you guys ready?”
“Ready if you are,” Doyeon said, spinning her keys on her finger. You suddenly felt self-conscious, knowing what kind of life Doyeon lived, and grabbed your purse from the chair beside the door.
“Alright, let’s go,” you said, ushering Chaeyoung out and waving at your parents, who were looking curiously around the kitchen corner. “I’ll be back later!”
Doyeon owned a brand-new BMW, but you weren’t even surprised. Of course she would have such a nice car, if what you’d seen at the party was any indication of her life.
“Buckle in, I don’t wanna lose my license,” Doyeon said as she started the car, looking at you and Chaeyoung through the rear-view mirror. Immediately, the two of you obeyed, buckling up as Doyeon pulled away from the house and onto the main road.
Yoojung turned on some 2NE1 and began to sing and rap along, getting Chaeyoung to join in, but you couldn’t make yourself join in. Your heart was beating like crazy and you could feel your palms sweating as you looked out the window, unable to calm yourself down. The tickets and the keychain sat in your purse (you’d checked on them multiple times to make sure they were there), but as the car neared the venue, you could feel the confidence you’d gotten from your friends dwindling. You hadn’t seen Lua at all since she’d left you in the library the day before, and you felt just as nervous as you’d been at the party. It was like all the courage you’d gained throughout the week had been destroyed the day before.
You took a couple breaths to try and calm yourself, closing your eyes. But you saw Lua behind your eyelids, smiling so wide that the dimples beneath her eyes were showing. You saw that smile that had become so familiar, and quickly opened your eyes again, knowing that your cheeks were flushed. It hadn’t helped at all, and now Doyeon was pulling into the parking lot, and you were even more nervous than you’d been when you were leaving.
“Ready?” Chaeyoung asked, reaching over to grab your hand, and you gave her a weak smile.
“Not really, but I’m getting there.” She gave you an affectionate grin.
“You’ll be okay, I promise.” She gave your hand one last squeeze before she let go to open her door and get out, and you did feel a little better. Still, you took one last deep breath before getting out yourself, steadying yourself as much as you could.
The venue was huge, much bigger than you’d thought it would be, and you looked around with wide eyes.
“Wow,” Chaeyoung said, taking the words out of your mouth, and Yoojung laughed.
“Right? Lua’s ballet company is widely known, so they always have huge shows. They’re all crazy good, too.”
“So impressive,” you said, mouth dropping open as you took in the crowd waiting to get in. “When she said get here early, she wasn’t joking.” Doyeon nodded and held up her tickets.
“Yeah, but we have special passes since we’re close to her. Come on, we’ll get our seats and everything and then we can see her backstage.” Your heart jumped again, but you let Doyeon and Yoojung lead you over to the ticket booth as you pulled your tickets from your purse.
The girl behind the counter gave you and Chaeyoung a once-over, probably because she’d seen neither of you before, but she let you both in with Doyeon and Yoojung, handing both of you back half of your ticket.
“You’ll use that to get backstage,” Yoojung explained, pointing to the ‘exclusive access’ portion of the ticket as the four of you made your way into the almost-empty auditorium. A few other people milled around, other friends and family, and Doyeon suddenly stopped and turned around.
“Hey, (Y/N), we’ll go ahead and get the seats, why don’t you go back and see Lua now? She’s in the fourth fitting room.” Your heart stopped for a moment and your eyes widened.
“Alone?”
“Yep,” all three girls said together, and you resisted the urge to whimper. But the keychain still sat in your purse, and you knew that you wouldn’t be able to give it to her with everyone there. So you squared your shoulders and glanced around.
“Where do I go?”
-
It was easier than you had expected to find the fitting rooms, but your hand hesitated as you brought it up to knock on her door. Would she be happy to see her, or would you end up upsetting her? This wouldn’t mess up her performance, would it?
Your mouth felt dry, but you mustered all the courage hiding behind your anxiety and knocked.
You heard shuffling on the other side of the door, and Lua calling a quick “hang on!” Your heart beat hard in your chest, and you knew that your cheeks were flushed as you fidgeted with your fingers, moving from foot to foot.
When Lua finally opened the door, her eyes widened when they met yours. She looked different than she usually did, her hair slicked back in braids and her makeup done with a more feminine precision, turning her into the character Dorothy. She was in slippers, but she had on the dress that she’d be wearing for the show, the iconic blue and white dress, cut just a little shorter than usual to give her a full range of motion as she danced. She looked cute, and it made your heart skip a beat. The butterflies were back.
“Hey,” you said for a lack of anything else to say, giving her a small smile. She blinked, seeming to finally realize what was happening, and quickly stepped to the side, smiling back at you.
“(Y/N)! You made it!”
“I did. Doyeon, Yoojung, and Chaeyoung are with me, but they went to go get seats.” When she closed the door, the room felt like it got smaller, but you tried to ignore it as you stood awkwardly in the middle, unsure of what to do.
“Oh, you can sit down in one of the chairs! It’s just me using this room and the makeup artist already left,” she said, gently touching your arm to lead you over to a small seating area at the opposite side of the mirrors. Carefully, you sat down, allowing space for her to sit down next to you. “I’m glad you made it.” She was telling the truth, you could tell it from the way she said it, and it soothed your nerves.
“I’m glad I made it too,” you said, trying to keep it lighthearted as you looked at her. Wow, had you missed her smile. And it had only been a day. “How are you feeling?”
“Good, confident! I was a little nervous before but our rehearsals went well so I feel better.” She tugged at one of the braids, letting out a soft laugh. “I bet I look weird right now, though.”
“No, you look cute.” The words came out on their own, like they had been since you met her, and you could feel your cheeks heating up again. But you didn’t regret it, especially when it made her ears turn pink and her eyes get a little wider.
“Oh, really?”
“Really. I like the braids.” A wide smile, one that showed those dimples you liked so much, broke across her face, and she looked down at her hair again.
“Thank you.” The air still felt a bit awkward, but the thickness that had been there when you first arrived had gotten lighter, and when her hand moved over to cover yours, it felt right. For a moment, the two of you just sat there, not saying anything. Then, swallowing, you turned to look at her again.
“Um, I got you something.” Again, her eyes widened as she looked at you, curiosity crossing her face. Quickly, you reached into your purse and pulled out the keychain, displaying it to her before you could have second thoughts. Her mouth dropped open, and she slowly brought up her hand to touch the ballerina charm, almost like she couldn’t believe her eyes. “I meant to give it to you yesterday, but....” You trailed off for a moment before picking back up, not wanting things to feel awkward again. “I figured it might give you good luck before the show tonight. And I really wanted you to have it.”
There was something unreadable and soft in her eyes as she picked up the keychain and looked from it to you, and then back again.
“Wait, when did you get this?”
“When we were at the mall Wednesday,” you admitted, “when I said that I was going to buy the book keychain, I did it so that you wouldn’t suspect anything. You looked so excited when you saw it, I just.... Wanted to see you smile like that again.” She held the keychain to her chest, mouth slightly open, searching for the words to say.
“I.... Thank you. I don’t know what else to say, this is the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me,” she said, voice wavering, and you panicked a bit. She was wearing full show makeup, and you’d never meant to make her cry. But then she surged forward and wrapped her arms around you, holding you tight. It was the first time she’d hugged you, the first time she’d done anything other than hold your hand, and for a moment, you froze up.
Slowly, you brought your arms up to hug her back, breathing in the smell of her perfume as you fell for her even further. She was so warm, and you didn’t want to pull away.
“Lua, you have five minutes!” An unfamiliar voice broke the moment from the door, and Lua quickly pulled away, wiping gently at her eyes before looking back up and you and giving you a smile so brilliant it outshone that florescent lighting of the room.
“Sorry. It looks like I’ve got to go.”
“That’s okay!” You jumped up from your seat and closed your purse, eyes moving across her face to make sure you hadn’t messed up her makeup in any way. Thankfully, everything still looked amazing, and you smiled at her. “Good luck. I’m looking forward to seeing your performance,” you said, moving towards the door. She stood up as well and seemed to be debating whether to say something as she walked you to the door.
When you stood just outside the door, and her just inside, she stopped.
“(Y/N)?”
“Yes?”
“You’re making it really hard not to like you.”
-
Your head was spinning has you made your way over to where your friends were sitting, so spaced out that it was a miracle you didn’t trip and fall. As you got closer, you could see that the rest of Lua’s friends had joined, but that there was a seat left for you between Chaeyoung and Yoojung.
“How’d it go?” A voice sounded behind you and you jumped, spinning around to come face-to-face with Doyeon.
“Um.” You didn’t know what to say, because you were still processing what Lua had said. Was that a good thing? A bad thing? You’d been unable to respond because the stage manager had come up and shooed you away, so you were stuck with her words whirling around in your head. Her raised her eyebrows.
“(Y/N)?”
“I-I don’t know how to explain it,” you said, looking down at the floor. You hardly knew Doyeon, and she was still intimidating to be along with. But to your surprise, she put her hand on your shoulder.
“That’s alright. Why don’t we go sit back down with Chaeyoung, and if you’re comfortable, you can tell us about it then?” You looked at her, touched that she somehow seemed to know exactly how you were feeling.
“Thanks. I’d like that.”
All eyes were on you when you stepped up to your chair, and Lua’s friends waved at you, some of them looking a bit curious. What had they been expecting to happen when you went back there?
“How did it go?” Chaeyoung asked as you sat down, echoing Doyeon’s words from earlier. But with Chaeyoung there, you felt more comfortable, and you’d had a little bit more time to process it now.
“Well…. I don’t know.” Everyone’s eyes were on you, and you swallowed. “I gave her the keychain.”
“Did she like it?” Chaeyoung reached over to put her hand over yours, calming your nerves down a bit.
“I think so. But she said something.” As you spoke, everyone leaned in closer, and the lights dimmed. You glanced around, shutting your mouth, but Yoojung waved her hand.
“You’re good, the band will play before the show starts. What did she say?” Having everyone looking at you made you a bit uncomfortable, but you figured they should know. They were Lua’s friends, they might know what she meant.
So you told them what she’d said, and watched as their eyes widened and they looked at each other. Chaeyoung’s grip on your hand tightened and her other hand came up to cover her mouth.
“Wow. So she really does like you,” Suyeon said, eyebrows raising as she turned to look at Elly beside her. “I didn’t believe it at first.”
“Not because there’s anything wrong with you,” Elly clarified for her, “it’s just that Lua hasn’t liked anyone since… well, you know.” You glanced over at Chaeyoung, who gave you a sheepish smile.
“I told them that we knew about everything because Yoojung brought it up. I hope you don’t mind?”
“I don’t,” you assured her, shaking your head and looking up at the stage. Her friends had said it themselves, and as much as you could hardly believe it, it had to be true: Lua liked you too. The butterflies started up again and your heart squeezed in your chest, and you wondered if this was what it felt like to be in love. You’d never felt any of this before, and it was a bit overwhelming, but in a good way.
The other girls looked like they wanted to say something, but the band had finished playing and the curtains were raising, so they settled back in their seats instead. Swallowing, you sat back and put your hand over your chest, willing your heart to calm down as the show started.
-
If Lua was cute doing everyday things, here she was stunning. From the moment that she came on stage, you couldn’t take your eyes off her. When you’d been with her, she’d shown that she could be slightly clumsy. She was known to be a tomboy and enjoy comfortable clothes and her mouth dropped open slightly when she slept and she was so incredibly loud when she talked and laughed.
But onstage, she was graceful and beautiful, another side to the girl you were still learning so much about. You were sure the audience would never guess what she acted like offstage, because she was so good. She never missed a step and her facial expressions were perfect, taking your breath away every time she was onstage.
As the ballet neared the climax, her eyes met yours in the crowd, and she smiled that brilliant smile that made your heart jump and stop. She was beautiful. And you really, really liked her.
The final dance ended, and the entire cast came onstage to bow, but you still couldn’t take your eyes off Lua. Somehow you even drowned out the clapping around you, and for a moment, her eyes met yours and it felt like the two of you were the only two in the auditorium. It was when she looked away that you made up your mind.
You weren’t going to be afraid anymore. You were going to pursue this, no matter where it took you.
-
After the show had finished, you made your way back to her dressing room again, following the familiar path with your heart beating hard inside your chest. Everyone else was somewhere behind you, but you were only focused on the path ahead of you that led to her.
The door was open slightly, and you didn’t hesitate this time when you reached up to knock on the door.
When she answered, she was smiling, strands of hair falling out of the braids and her cheeks flushed with excitement and exertion. She still looked so cute and pretty after giving it her best, eyes sparkling as she stepped to the side to let you in.
“(Y/N)! Did you enjoy the show?” You gave her a smile, opting to stand in front of her this time as she shut the door.
“I did. You were incredible up there.” She beamed, positively glowing, and reached up to tuck a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
“Thank you, I-.” If you didn’t say it now, you’d lose the courage to say it ever. So you interrupted her, rushing over your words.
“You know, you make it hard not to like you too.” You caught her off guard and her eyes widened, mouth dropping slightly open before her entire face flushed and she brought her hand up to cover her mouth.
“W-wait, you-? What do you mean?” It was such a cute reaction, and you knew your cheeks were flushed too as you let out a nervous laugh.
“I like you, Lua. More than just as a friend.” It was like a million emotions went across her face at once.
“Since when?” She asked, slowly bringing her hand down.
“I don’t really know, honestly. Tuesday? Wednesday?” It was embarrassing to admit it and you had to fight the urge to escape the situation.
“Oh my god. This entire time, I’ve been trying not to like you, and you’ve liked me back? I didn’t have to worry about anything?” She groaned and stepped forward, putting her head on your shoulder, and you didn’t really know what to do.
“I’m sorry? I didn’t know you liked me either.” She let out a sigh, but when she brought her head up to look at you again, she was smiling.
“You don’t have to apologize. We were both a little dumb. I’m just not used to all this stuff.”
“Same here. I’ve never dated anyone,” you said, regretting it almost immediately as your face flushed again and you glanced down at the floor out of embarrassment.
“Wow, really?”
“Yeah, I mean, who wants to date the math nerd?” You said, trying to joke the awkwardness away.
“I do.” She had to stop saying stuff like this, because your heart couldn’t take it. “Also, here’s a little secret. I’ve only dated one person I really liked.”
“But you’ve dated plenty of people,” you pointed out.
“It’s not like I really do anything with them other than maybe hold their hand. I don’t do any of the things with them that... that I want to do with you.”
“Oh-.”
“Can I kiss you?” It came so out of the blue, but her eyes were so earnest, and you’d be lying if you said you didn’t want to kiss her too.
“I’ll probably be bad at it,” you said, voice wavering.
“You won’t know unless you try.” She was so... magnetic. You found yourself moving closer, as if your body had a mind of its own. Every bit of you just wanted to be held by her.
“Then yes.”
“Yes what?”
“Yes, you can kiss me.” She grinned at your words and leaned forward, taking you into her arms. You wrapped your arms around her shoulders, shy because you didn’t really know what to do, and she brought a hand up to cup your cheek. Your eyes fluttered closed at her touch, and the next thing you knew, she was kissing you.
It took you a moment to tentatively kiss her back, pulling her closer without realizing exactly what you were doing.
And then she was pulling away, and both of you had matching pink cheeks. Her eyes met yours, and both of you burst into giggles, leaning back into each other.
“You aren’t bad,” she said, eyes sparkling. “But I don’t think it would hurt to teach you some more.” The butterflies started up again and you gave her a look, trying and failing to not smile.
“Your friends will be here any minute.”
“What? So they can’t see me kissing you?”
“It’s embarrassing,” you whined, and she beamed, letting her forehead fall against yours. She was so beautiful up-close, and for the first time, you noticed how dark and deep her eyes were. You could feel yourself falling into them, because they were focused on you, and only you.
“Just one more kiss,” she said, voice a whisper, and you couldn’t resist her. Everyone would probably burst through the door at any moment, and it would be embarrassing, and the two of you would probably never be able to live it down. But she was warm and inviting and your lips tingled for the chance to taste her again, so you couldn’t bring yourself to care, letting your eyes flutter closed.
“Just one more.”
